Dakka Advertising Options
Every day tens of thousands of dedicated gamers visit Dakka Dakka to check out the latest news in our forums and review our other features. If you run a website, store, or other business related to the gaming hobby, you'd be hard pressed to find a more cost effective way to get your message out to the gaming masses.
New gamers check our site every day, and veteran gamers check the pages several times a week, often daily. Get your word out to a new crowd, and remind veterans of your upcoming event or services. Since relaunching in 2007, our traffic has been consistently doubling every 6-8 months.
Just to give you an idea of our traffic, as of Jan 2011, Dakka Dakka currently serves around 10 million adverts each month, with over 35,000 unique visitors a day. Our ad rotations are managed by us and are relatively small, meaning that your ad is not one of thousands of separate ads in rotation, but rather one of a few, targeted ads that our gamers actually read and visit. Our adverts are divided into two types. The first are our internally managed adverts for google and affiliate websites. The second is paying advertisers. We show the two types in a 50:50 ratio which means that no matter how many things we wish to promote internaly, we will never be taking any additional clicks or eyeballs away from paying advertisers. You will only be competing for views with other active adverts, ensuring you get value for money and are on a fair footing. Additionally, if you have something you wish to promote in the short term, purchasing multiple adverts will increase the number of times your ad is pulled from the ad pool and shown - all adverts currently active on the site are put into a pool, and one is randomly shown at the top of every page, giving an even number of views to every advert.
We currently offer one advertising option:
468 x 60 Banner Advertising
These are traditional 'web banners' that appear at the top of many of our pages, including our two most popular pages: The Dakka Dakka Home page and the Dakka Dakka forum pages. Any given banner in rotation will typically experience 40,000 - 60,000 impressions a month depending upon the month and number of other other adverts active at the time. Clicking on a banner will take a user to the link of your choice. You can purchase advertising by duration or pay per click. We also allow flash based adverts but due to additional technical overhead they take longer to integrate than animated gifs, requiring at least one back and forth between our technical team and your design team and they have a surcharge of $35.
We also offer press release advertising in some circumstances, which entails us granting a front page news item on dakka for a price. The front page is viewed well over 150,000 times per month and is a very effective way to get a message across, but the space is not always available and we are not willing to post any old message there so pricing is discretionary and entirely dependant upon your content.
Please note, there is a STRICT maximum file size limit of 85KB for your advert. We get a lot of users on mobile devices and anything larger would simply bog down their speed too much to be acceptable.
