You were rather lamely referring to something else old boy.

But aren't Arbites and Carapace/Shotgun vets the same thing?

While I love these releases if you want that specific look you can do it now but it'll require some mixing and matching. PM me if you want a list and I'll send you links to the products you'd need to put it together.

BrookM, etc.. is there a list of confirmed future releases or is it peppered throughout the thread, I've only been casually following this. I've got a pretty good bit of Vic minis and knowing what's down the road would make planning easier (on everything but my wallet :/ )

The gun shield for the Sledgehammer, which will be available separately.

This will likely consist of 3 parts - the gun shield as one piece, and the two support struts.

Will these extras be distributed with the kit, or are we going to be dealt with a DLC style situation, where we have to pay for every additional component?

Well, she was feeling ill about a month ago- I hope this is not still the case as it is probably something pretty serious if it is lasting that long. IIRC, her knee was causing issues over the summer (surgery?) so I hope there hasn't been some complication/s.

Hi all, sorry for the quiet.

I've been busy with lots of stuff (most of which can I discuss at the moment, sorry), and running your own business is tiring.

I have been working on more stuff for the gun, but that'll splash a bit later, since I think KS fulfilment is still listed at about a year from now, give or take.

Have no fear, the Matilda isn't dead, we discussed that on the phone last week - we're trialing a new printer service since Moddler discontinued the printer we used. "Wheels are turning". In the end, the delays suck arse, but I promise you'll wind up with a better project since we did some redesigning of parts (not looks, just parts and assemblies). The redesign has been completely done for ages now, but it wasn't until recently that we've found a printing company that might just cut the mustard. Thanks to both pals at Reaper and Dragon Forge for recommending them on the same weekend!

Vic's over being ill now, and last I heard was busy catching up on orders and sculpting that she lost time on while being sick.

Migeulsan, no idea about the price outside of the KS. I would posit that if you look, the pledge manager might still be open - it was last time I checked as I was going to grab a few of the dragons on it for my wife.

Ok, well, I have to work on some more tracks now...

go here and register

https://ks.reapermini.com/bones3/login

you can then add things to your cart and see what they'll cost

hit the recalculate button so see changes to the shipping cost and total as you add things, then checkout when you're done.. You can come back later and add more if you want to later (this takes into account shipping already paid so there's no penalty for doing so

note as a late backer you pay slightly more than KS prices (the sledgehammer was $30 for backers but I don't know what the post KS price is), but generally still less than eventual retail, and your stuff will be shipped at the end of the queue

Miguelsan, it's a short barrel, but it was based off an old trench mortar, which were very stubby.

Interesting enough. these superguns were WW1 phenomenon, only a few numbers of these were carred to the second war. and with the rise of aviation (and later Rocket Sciences). these weapons were obsolette.

And I'll be doing work again tomorrow, which gives me a great excuse to go right out and miss the Boxing Day Test.

What I SAID was I need to finish this and a few other things before I consider your request!

Rotor cannons are the one thing I was missing in my list of weapons for my Veletarii, seeing as FW has already released them with power axes.

You could probably take the arcadians, add beards, make them 25% shorter, make them fat, call it a day, and you'd still probably sell them.

That's what the old squats had mainly. Just regular uniforms, beards, wicked sunglasses, and bolters

That’s an old RT lasgun, GW made them in plastic. Old, but should be out there.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone covet them though, I personally like a more modern lasgun, but YMMV.

That whole lasgun pattern name chart on lexicanum was a fan made thing, there was no original source, but FFG and other sources have started to label the guns as such. GW never named them, and if you look at the old artwork, the whole Cadian M36 started with the plastic models, even though the Armageddon steel Legion's "voss pattern" lasguns are the same as the Catachan's generic Las-carbine (FFG standard equipment name), but with a added dust cover, and on half the models a folding stock, the other half had standard "hardtail" stocks.

Personally, I love the MK2 las rifles due to the fact that they are super close to the style of Lasgun used in the artwork in Codex Battlezone: City Fight, though, I got a pile of the single piece rolled sleeve and gun arms in a trade off reddit a while back.

Those and the Digger models are quite nice, Brother SRM.

Right, the rotor cannon has 5 barrels, because, different, and those were the only 2 votes that were made.

These WILL take a good bit of time to come out, because to truly work well, it might be necessary to go back to having the arms on the gun, since the new modular arms certainly wouldn't look right with them!

Hrm, if the arms are sculpted to it and attached to the torso as once piece instead of 4, it'd allow for straps supporting the weapon, a better looking ammo feed, some extra cords and wires and thingamabobs, etc.

That would make that particular figure 2 pieces instead of the usual (torso/weapon/arms + interchangeable legs). Hrrrrmmm.

Perhaps you could sculpt the straps to the shoulders of the arms, in a similar way to the plastic Cadian flamers, which have a shoulder strap that goes over the shoulder of the arm? You could make it so that the piece fits any of the Vic torsos, without having to sculpt a version for each that way. Any ammo feeds to a backpack could be handled in a similar way to the flamer tank. I'm sure a little bit of modifying would be required to get the arms+backpack set to fit any of the torsos, but I doubt that anyone purchasing from Vic is going to be totally novice modellers. It would force only one pose without some remodelling, but it would allow for more combos without having to make moulds for all 6 or so torsos that are available.

I would certainly be fine with integrated arms on this one, because I can see it being quite different in the way it is held to the small arms.

I've attached a picture of the flamer I was thinking of.

Yeah, I'd thought of that, but it more needs a strap coming around the off-hand shoulder all the way around. We ARE talking about Five Barrels of Fun, here.

Victoria Miniatures: Warhorse project-page 172 @ 2016/01/18 19:33:54

Post by: Haighus

Hmm fair enough. It could still be possible to have the strap attached to the shoulder, if it attaches to the opposite shoulder across the front of the model. The backpack could then be used to hide where most of the return strap would be, so that it would be a modular part still.

I visited your FB page and saw a cool pic of an APC design.

Kind of curious what the future brings for additional vehicles to pair with the Matilda. I'm assuming it'll depend on how well the Matilda works out, but I'm curious if you and Vic have had any discussions about potential plans.

I'm in the market for APCs/IFVs and variants for arty and whatnot, and I'd love to have something that meshes with the Matilda.

Didn't Victoria use to sell gas maks in sets of 5? I wanted like 20 or so to equip old school GW plastic stormtroopers but the only option is one mask and 3 goggles that I don't want.

Tell Victoria to check it, those masks do not appear when typing "gas mask" or "gas-mask" on the search bar nor on the weapons and gear tab. I thought she might have been out of stock.

Well if I like your heavy mortar next time I order more I will add the masks to the order

It's not the Matilda, we're still in a printing queue for that. Sadly there's only a handful of places with machines that can handle the Matilda and do a good job with it.

*edit*

Also you should know it's not the Matilda since you haven't heard me across the world screaming and giggling like a wee girl. Pictures of my painted one will be up on Facebook before it goes up for orders, since I'm going to insist we have a painted one on the website for selling it

Ok, it'll be dakka.

I don't know about the Femburg, as in, I literally do not know, I only get consulted about "my" stuff.

We have a meeting scheduled for next week (to give her time to get over the jet lag), I'll ask about things like Femburg and (yes) bikes (again).

I've got a catch up scheduled with the prototyper who'll be doing the Matilda and a few other things, I'll ask him about the timeline on that too (which I can only relay to you if Vic ok's that), but keep in mind there's a multi-month logistical "tail" that goes onto that as well since it has to get master moulded, cast, production moulded, and then production stocks have to be built up.

Thankfully we should be headed into cooler weather down here soon, so the Australian caster might get more productivity in (when casting resin, the hotter it is outside, the faster it catalises which means you get less pouring in per mix, which means more wasted resin).

Believe me, nobody, not even Vic, wants it out more than I do

I'm even working on trying to put together a release for Adepticon next year, and a Christmas one as well. For two companies.

Also, Blacksails, your name reminds me, I need to go over to a friend's house with real internet later and watch what's out for S3 of that series!

However, the Lewis Gun was designed for a slightly different purpose, which has yet to be released. And it wasn't the Matilda! (Although it will show up there as well)

Sorry, the closest I personally ever got to Necromunda (rule wise) was Mordheim. The closest I've physically been to it was a guy painting up some old Necromunda figures a few weeks ago. (Having lived a few places I have in the past, the game about gang warfare never held a patch on seeing it in action yourself!)

Actually, with Vic's blessing, I've been researching and prospecting, hopefully to expand the lines of figures a bit more. There might even be concept art to slag off in the future!

I really appreciate all who waited for these. There is a huge amount of work involved in getting all the ducks in a row for a release like this, your ongoing community encouragement and support is amazing and much appreciated.
Thanks, V

Wasn't going to order anything, but the drummer girl is brilliant and well, couldn't order just her and be done with it.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

Umm are the legs universal? Because the ladies seem a bit lacking in hips.... And having wider hips than a guy is one of the things that makes a woman look like a woman.

The sign-up box is on the left-hand column below the product categories Just enter your email and hit enter! Often-times the info is up on FB and/or Dakka quicker than the email is, but if you read your emails more regularly it is good. And sometimes little snippets make their way into the newsletter that don't get posted on FB and Dakka, like the Tannenburg hint...

Kidding aside, I would like some Heavy Weapons but I'm just not as sold on the guns themselves especially as I have a plethora of guns left over from my dozens of Cadian HWTs. Do the carriages accommodate the bitz of the leading manufacturer well? Given the the cross-compatibility common in Vic's ranges I assume so, but I figured I'd ask people who might know.

Oh - and: Damn fine miniatures, although I'm sticking to my Arcadians for now - but if I reach the point of wanting a second IG regiment I'll probably go Tannenburgs

feth I'm an idiot. How did I not think of that?

Now I'm having the challenge of figuring out how many squads of special weapons I need and how many squads of normal rifles and how many of shotguns.

Decisions decisions decisions.

Are there any troopers that match the ones that come with the giant cannon from the reaper fundraiser? I'd do a platoon of them to go with that if they did exist, but they don't quite seem to match any of the ranges on the web page.... ...maybe in the future?

Largely compatible. You might have to do a little shaving or filling in spots. It wasn't designed to specifically accommodate them, but I've seen people do it on blogs.

It makes sense for use in 40k as well, what with the crappy rules vox casters have in that setting.

Though where I'm going the vox casters actually work and thus, it's less about communication and more about raising morale for the rest of the cohort.

Thanks faolan! I decided to get a couple carriages to try it out on based on what I could find. I figure in a worst case I can order a multi-pack later and use the "extra" guns with those carriages.

Success!

After a chat with Victoria today, she's sending the bikes over for casting, and has set herself the goal of finishing off 1 rider this week.

It's a coin toss to see if it's one of the girls or one of the guys that gets done first.

Hopefully there'll be more action on this for you in a couple of weeks (I'm looking at you, LDD!)

Also, especially you to LDD, we're working on this on the buddy-system - we'll keep eachother with regular updates on progress of projects to make sure we get them faster. Nothing motivates like the fear of looking slack in front of each other.

It is really great you are doing this. I am pretty sure every IG player has always been dying for realistic female minis to match. There as so many disappointments from other companies.

I really hope you go all the way with all the regiments. I would totally buy some female ratlings and Ogryns as well if you started to sell those as well

Hey guys, it's very cool that you'll swap bits as needed! Have you ever considered something like a squad builder program/tool though? I think that might be a cool logical step forward and make it easier for customers to place orders for squads that don't fit the archetypes you have already put into place. I know it would help me out a ton and ensure I don't have to do a mental checklist everytime I want to order something.

I suspect the reason that's not available currently is the sheer amount of work it creates on her end. Which is why there's basically a small "discount" for buying an entire squad of one type, or, conversely, a small "rise" if you buy separate bits.

The reason a lot of small companies don't offer it is that manpower mentioned above, and the way moulds are generally made, you have all of X in one mould that gets poured together, all of Y in another, etc.

Sorry to criticise, I really like your stuff normally, but I think those greatcoat legs are not up to your usual standard.

Like the previous femburg, they have no hips so don't really look like female legs at all and have absolutely colossal feet in proportion to the body.

I am all for non-sexualised female miniatures but these just look anatomically wrong to me.

Ah, I didn't even think of that! Sorry. That does make a good deal of sense and if it's not viable, it's not viable. It's not gonna stop me from buying though.

New legs are looking good, I don't think they need to be more "hip"-y though. It's a greatcoat. It's gonna leave a lot to the imagination. If I had one criticism, it's that that the legs look extremely long. Very lanky to me

I think people are assuming the waist is where the greatcoat is belted closed,

but I think the belt is higher up the body (think 40s high waisted trousers)

so the hips are further down the greatcoat flare (and so large enough to be female) and the legs aren't as long as you might think at first glance

If that's the case they've got some incredibly long, Tau Air Caste-like torsos.

Thanks for the feedback. These greatcoat legs are literally the female Arcadian legs with the tunic and pockets trimmed off and greatcoats sculpted over the top. The leg length and torso length is exactly the same. They are exactly the same boots.
I probably should not have photographed them half assembled as it makes it hard for some people to visualize the full miniature. I'll make the hips slightly bigger but I have limits. I'll leave the mazzive over exaggeration in that area to other companies.
