The new Space Hulk was released as a 20th anniversary deal. Original release was 1989, new one was 2009. I think it being in the month of Sept was just because thats where it happened to fall in the years release line-up.

If people want to speculate about new re-releases of other specialist games, they might want to look up the original release dates and see when the anniversaries fall.

Last sept was IoB box set, that's pretty special in my books.

I keep hearing all these mixed rumours on the release of the crons and the SoBs. Not sure what to think of it. I have done much analysis and research on GW's business practice and how they operate and I can sya that the assesments I have been able derive are exactly what is being predicted.

It seems to me though that GW is been shifting to a change that will overall speed up their releases. Such ideas I have been able to gather by finding a pattern of how the differrnt codexes are released and with the new resin casting and the metals being phased out along with theu use of computers to build future sculpts I feel that we are going to see a faster production rate on new releases after the new year.

Bear in mind everyone this is an assesment not a factual statement so please don't send any hate my way if anything in here is wrong.

BTW Harry thinks Tyranids 2nd wave are either last 40k release this year (instead of Sororitas) or first 40k release next year.

But before that, for several years it was #1 demand on internet polls for what GW should do to increase sales.
When we learned about the project, we thought, that finally GW had listened learnt. Well, they haven't.
We even hoped that the sprues would be sold separately for the Tyranid and Blood Angels releases. Would also have sold like hot cakes and not interfered with the limited run status. Well, they havem't.

I think the problem with GW is they take away the chapter approved from the the white dwarf.With that they used to give you a update of the old codex when they chage the editions.And also kool army list variants.

Chapter approved was really the only reason I used to actually read WD back in the day. It was the only saving grace the CSM had back then when they gave them that twisted joke called a 3rd ed. codex

1.) The "Summer of Flyers" rumour started by stickmonkey on Warseer, not BoK. Stickmonkeys rumours often originate from early design stages, so they are early but blurry and might chang.
2.) The "Summer of Flyers" rumour is a complex rumour with different parts. Some parts turned out true, some parts could have changed, some parts seem to turn out not true. True is that several flyers for many fractions are either released or in the works. Changed seems to be that flyers don't get a special supplement, but get integrated to the core rules. Wrong seems that it will be in this summer.
3.) The category you mentioned is not only "unreliable", but also "less confirmed" and "with less sources".

So, the next 40K edition is going to be a skirmish based game as opposed to a massed combat game? Seems unlike GW, considering that their business model is built around a 14 year old who will probably be into the game for a couple months/years and will spend hundreds of dollars of his parents' money. Some of this stuff also sounds too good to be true like being able to assault and then shoot...that would effectively mean that a SM tactical squad could assault a squad of IG, win the combat, and then gun down another squad. People pretty universally hate the current Tyranid codex, so it really could use an update (though in sixth edition). As for news, there were rumors of new Tyranid models, but I thought they were supposed to come out in August or September, which obviously didn't happen, so there you go.

I was actually more or less asking if Kroothawk had heard any more out of Harry on the rumor of a Tyranid second wave, as the last 40K release of this year or the first of next year.

I wouldn't ask about a out of date rumor, I would simply look it up.

There were rumours about a possible second wave of tyranids around October/November for a long time which turned out to be false. There were then rumours that it was deliberately delayed until GW legal got a clue on how to deal with Chapterhouse doing a Tervigon conversion kit, combined with a rumour that there will be a comb kit Tervigon/X with WD rules sometime soon. The latter was hinted at by the WD editor.

This is all too unconfirmed and unconcrete to be included in the first page list.

I really wish that the Tau would get their long overdue update. They are one of the oldest codices still in existence, and possibly the least serviceable under the current rules set. They still have a Strategy Rating, for goodness' sake!! What other codex still has a Strategy Rating? (This isn't entirely a rhetorical question, as I'm not sure. Chaos? Eldar? I feel like even they got a partial update since THAT was a relevant part of a codex.

So, I am sure that someone else has probably seen this but.... if you put the white dwarf spines together for the last 2 months (Jan and Feb) then you see what seems to be the robed side leg of a Dark Angel marine. So maybe hinting at the codex coming?

I agree with The Spore, so many rumours and if there not definite I have no idea whether they will be coming to us or not.
but the fact that there's a pattern on the way they bring out new codex's is I bit OTT. they will just simply choose something that has not had a lot of attention paid to recently and put some thought into that particular army.

Several untested rumour posters claim to have trustworthy sources for the following Codices being released in June: Black Templar, Dark Angels, Eldar, Tau, and Chaos Legions. Let's just say, I don't believe that we will get 5 full Codex releases in June, actually I believe we will get none.
So the rumour round up in the first post does not claim to quote every existing rumour out there but tries to filter them already according to credibility.

After seeing all of the rumors, the only thing I'm sure of is the fact that the 6th edition starter kit will be released after the 6th edition rulebook. That's pretty much it.

DA seem to be the new SMs this year, either that or the Vanilla Marine Codex will incorporate a lot more. Honestly I could see both happening.

The Opposite of the DA in the starter box... well, I guess either Chaos legions or Eldar. Honestly, it could turn out to be Tau. I would laugh, then cry, as I don't have enough money for both school and new Tau. I can handle DE, Necrons, and SMs, but I can't add another army to that list...

As for the rest, all I'm hoping for is May to be awesome. Why? Hopefully Necron 2nd wave, there's a Marvel Marathon at a local theater (all of the Avenger movies all day, then The Avengers at midnight, it's gonna be sweet), then Diablo 3. Between school, Warhammer, and Diablo 3, I won't have time for anything, but then I guess those are the only things I need time for.

Actually we can be fairly certian of a lot more things:
Necron 2nd wave May
6th edition in July, starter set in September with content roughly known.
Next Codex Chaos Legions.
Next army book Warriors of Chaos late 2012.
2013 Eldar and Tau Codex and Dwarf and Dark Elf army book, maybe more.
A lot of things in the works and/or ready to be released, waiting for a release slot, a.o. several fliers (DE bomber, Necron fliers, SM flier, Ork flier, maybe Harpy). Difficult to say when those things are actually released, because it is just a managment decision (e.g. plastic Daemon on the shelf for 2 years).

Why would a starter box set have the Dark Angels as playable chapter? I thought that was what the Ultramarines were for.

Ultramarines have only been in two out of 4 starter boxes. There have been Blood Angels, Black Templars, not forgetting that Crimson Fists where on the 3rd Codex.

At least in the earlier starter sets the marines were very generic. The moulded squad role symbols on the latest boxes rules out certain chapters if you stick with a single style eg: DA using the horizontal double ended arrow symbol for tac squads vs the single ended upwards arrow of smurfs.

I do wonder if it is to push a certain range as they may say think for yourselves but really they want us to do what they tell us

All codexes from Blood Angels onwards have been written for 6th Ed.
Most likely first purely 6th Ed codex is Tau.
Most likely to be Dark Eldar and Space Marine starter box.

I did not tell you any of this!

We don't really know what is 'true' or not, but so far reliable rumours have conflicted with most of the above:
- Presumably meant June, rather than July, in which case it's probably accurate.
- Who knows about which Codex has been meant for 6th? I can only imagine GK and Necrons at most.
- Currently expected to be Chaos next and DA after, with no real rumours for Tau...
- Starter is expected to be Chaos vs. DA

So maybe 1.5 out of 4 at a push...

It's so funny how us GW players aren't bitter at all.

i heard from a reasonably reliable source that the Ork Codex will be updated in the next 12 months has anyone else heard that?

Most certainly not. But they will get a small wave of models first half 2013.

Orkz don't really need an update. We've got a Kodex which has pretty much weathered both edition changes fairly unchanged- and Nob Bikers even got a Boost again.

Allies just give us more opportunity for Konversions, many of our Special Rules and wargear has, though serendipitous wording, been unchanged or provided unanticipated boons, and the FAQ's have fixed a couple of the issues the Codex did have.

For example, did you know that Wrekkin' Balls and Grabbin' Klaws effect Fliers exactly as they do ground vehicles? And the Zzap gun Stuns on a Glance.

Just wondering, and I apologize if this is the wrong thread, but with some of the recent news about Dark Angels and Eldar, would it be safe to assume that Tau might not come out until late 2013 maybe 2014?

Well GW is known to produce and package models well in advance of the codexcies being even thought of, so this list just gives you an idea of what will be in the codex, not that the codex/armies are done or even started. It's been said that Matt Ward will being doing Orks, but they aren't due until 2014. I do like this list, but I just see it as things to come in the far future. I couple of these maybe be a lot sooner, like the Tau and Eldar. But I don't expect to see the Deathwatch and Orks until far later. SoB, who knows when they'll get some love.

So will the Orc book be for 9th edition?

How about Valhallans making a return in 6th? GW added Chenkov to the "Troops" section on the guard page. It might be nothing, but minor changes to GW's site could mean something, like when they removed the Necron Codex before they got updated.

I suppose you're right, but I wouldn't object if they did something to kommandos to make them better at sneaky Sabotage rather than just being underpowered and overpriced. The models are covered in explosives, some rules for them would. Be nice. Saying that, I'm new to the ways of Waaaa, so I defer to your experience. :-)

I heard a nice little rumor (not from any actual source) that the reason GW is banging out these codices so fast is that they can do just that, release a main codex for each army then release supplements over time that will add to the game. Only scuttlebutt, but I think something like that would be quite interesting. On the other hand, if GW is setting up for a sale or expansion, and the reason for the codices in such rapid releases is to drive up sales and stock prices to increase their worth as a company, then it will be just as interesting to see who would purchase it.

I think that's a fair assessment, the speed with which the last few codexs have been released has been alarming. Given the release schedules pointed to at the start of this article have been spot on then it looks likely that by early 2014 they'll be looking to release the last remaining books, Orcs, IG, maybe even sisters of battle lol. I think this is a really good sign as releasing the codices so close together will hopefully lead to a much more balanced meta game. No more 3rd edition vs 5th edition scenarios.

Makes sense from a business standpoint too, people will buy their armies codex no matter what, it's not like they need to space those out, instead of throwing all their money at huge releases with brand new model lines, just chuck out a few key models and the book, sales will still be high, stagger the remaining models to keep things steady.

Well, I think we all know what has already been released, however I think that a future release table would be interesting. We know apoc is July, but next month is ??. I heard that space Marines and tyranids are the next two to be released.

Doubt it, wave 2 releases have been scrapped for the most part.

No, but the good sourrces are rare, and I won't list every made up rumour for this summer just have anything written.

You could at least scrap the allready occured releases and give a brief description of stuff mentioned.

So far, we have rumors on a inbetween Chaos release, Dark Eldar (which is probably wrong because of SW) and SW, without an actual rumour behind them since with the Sanctus Reach campaign everyone seems to assume that SW will get their dex next by default.

I hope that wolf guard and grey hunters can take the new flying ship. I wanna use like 12 of these flying ships.

Throw my HQ in with a troop in reserve so no matter what the delployment rules are. I can have my entire army come in off on reserves like drop pods.

Do we know what's up next from GW now the Nagash stuff is done? And yes, OP badly needs updating.

Well, the only accurate source we have beyond a couple weeks has been Hastings and his 40k predictions ran out at IG. He still has Brets, Beastment, O&G and 9th edition for 2015 though.

Uh... from what I could gather: Space Wolves, Spacewolves Supplement, two Spacewolves dataslates aaaand a grey knights codex, which is... dunno, i haven't actually followed the discussion, but since no new units were introduced, probably just a rules update. I'd wager they removed some character for later reintroduction as a dataslate or because he had no model so far...? Just a guess here.
