So this blog has been through a fair few iterations since i started it way back when. Yea I disappear, forget to post or life kicks ya square right and proper.

The first 27 pages are all sorts of 40k models and trying to find my niche and groove. And trying my hand at other hobby related things such as building terrain and necromunda and the like.

In the way back time machine (2008 matter of fact) I started with ye old space marines thinking that my mighty chapter was mighty....however their hearts grew dark and well they fell by the wayside and in to the loving embrace of chaos. I played chaos solid for about five years purging rebuilding repurging and rebuilding. I have had several chaos marine armies it is my first love of 40k. I have done Word Bearers and I have done Iron Warriors, I also have done two home brew warbands the Deliverer's of the Pure Word and Disciples of Rot. Then one day... I sold all my Chaos stuff (for reasons I will not discuss on the forum ask me via pm if you wanna know) Then came the purge where i sold most everything but two armies... my Vostroyan Imperial Guard and my Tyranids. I recently fell back to chaos...it will be slow going at first as I am going to try new techniques and push my self. It may go Quite from time to time but if this one is quite you can always check out my other spaces to see if I am there. Do not fret or be alarmed if I do disappear and magically do a photo dump on you it has been known to happen.

Well enjoy my musings and my painting of stuff.

So a bit of Fluff for the day:

Hollis Secundus, an ice waste land with short days and longer nights, the majority of the emperor's faithful live in the hives. The the main export in tithes of this planet are refined metals to make the war machines of the imperium (sp), one of the most notable facts about this world is that is that it is a recruiting planet for the Knights of Mccragge. With ruthless underhive gang warfare constant it breeds some of the worst killers in the system.

I know its not a lot but that's what I have so far please feel free to help add to it I am not that good at writing fluff imo but i would like to hear what people have to say.

Here is a little story about one of the pictured marines Brother Sergeant Kerva:

Mortars screamed over head into Brother Sergeants Kerva's position. The renegades inaccuracy was appearent seeing that the forces of the PDF were turned to ruinious powers within the past six months, it was hell, the position was littered witht he dead, this had been the longest eight weeks in the deployment. But the emperor's justice needed to be done. Of the ten men that were in squad kerva only four remained. Brother Jorin's plasma gun was hit by a lucky shot and enveloped him in plasma backfire and melted into a puddle of goo. A sniper caught Brother Skaren unawares through his eye lens and out the back of his skull. Brothers Huskar and Fer were killed in an ambush about three weeks prior to the campaign starting. It had been hell, Captain (still need a name) had ordered the remain members of squad Kerva to assault the enemy position after the whirlwind barrage had struck. Autogun shells ripped through the sandbag emplacements one stray shot plinked off of Sergeant Kerva's helmet. Kerva growled in frustration and flexed his mighty power fist that crackled with blue energy. Then as if on cue Rockets screamed over head as the whirlwind fired its deadly payload. The screams of the traitors could be heard, in an instant Kerva voxed to his brothers it is time for them to strike.

well there is my little story i hope you guys like it I had fun writing itsorry if its short I will post in a couple of days the rest of this story should have pictures of my Black Templars up also so look for that, thanks for lurking. C&C are always welcomed.

Hello all that lurk away, so i been doing some research and thanks to a person i admire on dakkadakka i thought i would try to make a badab war ear army mind you this would be after the war and after there suicide campaign. any way i'd appreciate all your thoughts on where to begin and what codex should i use and all that noise. the the codecies i have currently in my possession are the regular SM and the BT for the imperial side of things and the all mighty chaos marine codex. I really don't want to do another CSM army i'd actually like to try to make the excecutioners a imperial chapter not a renegade warband. well i think first off i should aim for about 500 points and go from there.
again anythoughts or ideas would be helpful. oh if you know where i can read more fluff about them other than IA 9 and ten that would also be helpful.

thanks in advanced

I'm pretty sure you posted this in the wrong forum. This is a plog, right? It goes in the project log forum. Also if you want to sell something put it up in the swap shop.

As for campaigns, I think 500 might be too small for a main force. Maybe shoot at least for 1000.

well its my plog so i thought it would be ok to post my stuff on it. well due to funds at the moment the only two things i have availible are a SM Captain and one tactical squad...i just thought 500 points was a good starting place.

500 is indeed a good starting point. Put some pictures up of your orcs, to show more people what you're selling. Also putting it in a separate selling forum would be helpful as more people would see it there.

true about the orcs whats actually funny most of my ork bits are in boxes minus i think 10 boyz and some lootas.

Ill post up a picture of the captain and of the orks within the next couple of days any sugesstions on how to equip the tatical squad i was thinking ml and melta gun, or metla and flamer what do yall think?

Couple of thoughts AH... I know you're trying to pull together an all-inclusive blog to cover all your interests... but when it's as diverse as this right from the git-go it's hard to get people invested in it.

For the time being, and since you don't have a lot of cash to buy figures... you might try to make the most out of the one's you have. I'd consider focusing this P&M blog where it will do the most good. Post pics of your captain & other models and ask for comments and advice. Make sure you title it so people know what you're after. I know you do this in your OP, but the title of your blog is very all-encompassing and might well put people off. It also helps if you can ask specific questions... so rather than just saying "C&C welcome"... say... "I'd like to learn wet blending techniques." or "I'd like to make a nicer looking power sword, can anyone point me in the right direction?"

Those types of inquiries always get me good responses because it's much easier for folks to focus on and respond to a direct question rather than an ambiguous idea.

It's easy for people to comment and give you advice on painting because we all do it. Getting intelligent commentary on fluff or fiction is much harder and requires a much larger intellectual investment from your readers. Frankly where there a number of fluff threads that I follow, I only comment on one or two because they take so much more effort to track and critique than a painted model. Thus, I'd leave the fluff & fiction aside until you have a cadre of readers who are interested enough in your project to take the time necessary to consider your ideas and writing.

I think a basic 500 point army is a good place to start. You need 1 HQ and 2 troops to be legal. With marines you won't get much else for that price. Depending on what you have for orks, you might be able to trade them for some basic marines & you'll be set!

Make sure you read the posting rules in the Swap Shop forum before you put up your orks. Pictures always help there too.

Hope that helps,
Gits

Thanks gits,

actually what you just said made the most sense, this is my first blog of this sort and i wanted to do it right and well, i dunno if am or not yea i am aimin for the moon with a blog like yours, my lil story was something that been brewing in my head and it wouldnt shut up. i do need to learn better techniques, i just dont know what they are called. like the water blending i never knew what that was called and i would like to learn it. its just frustrating thats all. thanks for the advice. if you could point me in the right directions of some tuts that would be great. well i think thats my problem i like to jump to the big picture first and then work my way to the fine details, jumping head first per say. thanks for listen to me rant. its kinda lonly over here so pop in once and a while.
again thanks for the advice.

Gits is the master of plogs, so whatever he suggests is generally great advice (and something I should follow too. That and more actual updates!).

I don't see any problems with adding bits of fluff in amongst regular posts as it helps the readers understand where you're going with the project to be able to offer advice and guidance.

Having said that, it's always a great idea to have lots of clear pictures of what you're painting (see some of the photography tutorials so that we can all gawp in wonder at the latest updates. This becomes especially helpful when you're asking for advice on painting techniques.

Speaking of which, there are some painting tutorials in the Articles section here too.

This is good advice.

For starters, try to take a few more pictures of your sternguard sergeant, as he is completely shadowed and it's really hard to make out what's going on. Conversely, the picture of your trooper is pretty good.

Also, finding a buddy to split an AOBR box is a good way to get a pretty decent marine force quickly.

Post by: DarkStarSabre

There's a start. Some WIP shots of the Marines would be good too as well as some more shots of what you already have for us to oggle over.

And yeah, two split AoBR boxes can net you a respectable amount, especially if you can get hold of odds and ends for bits for variety!

Hey,
At first I should say I support 100% Gitsplitta in his advice...

As for the OSL, I think you got the location part (that is, how far should you paint the lighting effects), but there's something off with the painting...

I'm not so sure but I think you had too much paint in your mix, and you tried to get some colour appear too quickly. The light colour should appear after 2-3 layers of really thinned-down paint.
Also, I think you put too much water+paint on your brush. As it looks here, the watery paint pooled & dried leaving some "stains" on the model. You should put less mix on your brush, and try to control the strokes in "pulling" the paint towards the light source. That way, it should naturally enhance the colour closer to the source.

Am I being understandable, or not?

On second thought, I might add that trying OSL for the first time on a power fist , which is a large part of a mini, is a bit bold, and something I still haven't tried...

You should first try as I did, with lenses, scopes, flashlights, buttons, etc... And then move on to larger objects!

Good luck!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
PS : the colour & technique you're using could work perfectly as verdigris, by the way...

Just an additional trick!

Post by: alabamaheretic

thanks ygg,

you are perfectly understandable. now whats verdigris?
well im going to put the fist in some mean green and let it soak it didnt come out as well as i hoped...so i guess its ok for my first outing with it. Oh i do want your opinion on the rest of the model, there are parts of it that im not too happy with but i think i can rescue it.

Bama's big blog o stuff Supply Drop 6-8-2018 @ 2011/07/15 13:03:50

Post by: Gitsplitta

Verdigris is what the turquoise colored corrosion that happens on copper alloys such as bronze. It's a really neat way of making something look ancient. I've used a Thraaka green wash on my son's necrons, but a Hawk Turquoise wash actually makes a more authentic looking verdigris. Just google it in google images and you'll see plenty of examples.

Bama's big blog o stuff Supply Drop 6-8-2018 @ 2011/07/15 13:34:27

Post by: alabamaheretic

i tired some of that verdigris on his combi weapon and i think it came out ok lookin i personally think i put too much paint on it though. but live and learn i guess i will have to redo his arms to make em look better.
is there a tut on how to mix colors i think thats the next painting hurdle i need to jump.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
so i have came into a small chunk of change (120 or so) and i was wonder what should i do with it, get more troops transports elites...i already have a dread, and some sternguard as elites i have two 5 man squad of troops and a captain...wich rounds me out to 630 points roughly, so with this being said what should i go get for this lil army of mine. as fluff wise i love drop pod assualts, i do the rhino rush with my csm. and my templars (need a lot of drop pods) but i do not know what i shoud do for these guys maybe a mix of pods and razorbacks/rhinos? or should i go on and make a squads of devs (i have enough for two PC and TWO LCS and a MM). so i dunno right now would like your input on this purchase.

Oh i also recently got some testors dull coat and was wondering how far the can should be away from the actual model as not to have it glob up. thanks for any input.

So the tournament i went to yesterday was a pregame of an 'ard boy tourny they are holding next month and i learned something im not definatly an 'ard boy list maker. had a good list but the dice were not on my side long story short i think i came in last.

ok enough of my semi poor playing skills and on to what i have done with the dreadnought since i spoke with yall last well i started working on his arms tryin to clean up the lines i highlighted on the body and washed the silver bits on it next is prolly gonna be some highlights of hawk turquoise on the silvery bits. pics will be up some time this week so hope i can keep you in anticipation.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So i just figured what my 500 point list consists of and thats what im going to work on. i am still going to finish the dreadnought but i won't use em until i get the next phase started.

So at 500 Points my list consits of the Following:

Captain - 160
Artificer Armour, Power Fist, Combimelta, Digital Weapons

Scout Squad x5 - 120
x3 Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher, Camocloaks, Sergeant with Sniper Rifle, Power Sword, Melta Bombs

Tactical Squad x10 - 210
Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun, Sergeant with Power Fist and Combiplasma

This totals out to be 500 points good stuff.

now the next thing to figure out is how to do the scouts...not sure how to accomplish this but I will figure this out, I'll do two sample scouts to see what looks better any rate hope yall can help me out. I'll have pics up some time soon of the progress made.

Sniper rifles can be very useful, just keep them in perspective... with a scout's BS, you have a 50% chance to hit, and a 50% chance to wound = 25% chance per scout. Not great, but you have long range and can add the ML to the bunch, which can help. However, against things like demons or creatures with high toughness, that 4+ poison round starts looking much more viable. I usually arm my sergeants with sniper rifles as well in order to maximize the possibility of a scoring hit.

Hey AH. I'm glad I checked out your blog. I like the blue and white color scheme you have going on. The scouts look especially good. Are there any chances we could get close-ups?

I wish the pictures could be better, so that I could see the details of the models. Have you checked out the picture tutorials that someone posted on this thread? I think that could help a little bit.

As far as expanding your list, I think you should get vanguard veterans. They could look so cool.

Hey! Nice to see some progress here!

I'm excited to read the fluff that you come up with! Fluff always makes armies so much more interesting (which is why every time you read a new Black Library book, you want to start a new army )

I really like the mottled red you're doing for your armor! It's dark and....chaos-y...for lack of a better adjective. However, I think you may have overdone it a tad, imho. If you sharpen up a few areas on each model, I think the overall effect will be much better. Maybe investing some time on the eye lenses (or faces, for those lacking helmets) and on the transition between materials (like from helmet to horns and such) would go a long way. I think your terminators are a good example of what I'm talking about: good, dark, mottled red but still having sharp lines for the metallic trim.

Oh, and drill out your barrels

Keep it up, we loves the updates

Cheers,
Rawson

Yea I am in the planning stage of some Chaos fluff as we speak . i think i have to agree with you on the Terminators they are prolly some of my better looking guys. These were all painted almost a year and a half ago except for the sorc. he was made for a 'ard boy pre-qualifier. Well if i had a drill to drill the barrells out i would . But other than that thanks for the lookie loo Rawson. Oh i know i went a little over bored with the badab black on some of the models. I would really like your imput on the Plague Marines personally they took me like three weeks of painting to get them all done. Any way thanks for stopping by.

I like the blue on the sorcerer. I can see the same problem with your armor that I had with my guardsmen: The dark colors make the different parts of the model difficult to distinguish. From my (very limited) experience, I suggest you do a couple highlights to make them stand out more. Maybe Blood Red mixed with blazing orange?

Anyway, it's good to see some progress, and I look forward to the fluff!

Ok for the faithful that follow my blog/plog what ever i use it for that day i thought i would treat you all to a little fluff about my chaos marines. I do have fluff of my Space Marines but i want to introduce the antagonist first cuase well lets face it, we all like a good bad guy! So for today's adventure i thought i would tell a bit about Eparch Hendari and Archbishop Ludtgor.

WARNING! I DO USE ACTUAL STUFF RELATING TO CERTAIN RELIGIONS. I AM NOT SAYING YOUR PARTICULAR SET OF BELIEFS ARE EVIL OR WRONG. THIS IS JUST HOW I PORTRAY THEM AND HOW I SEE THEM. thank you.

Spoiler:
Eparch Hindari sneered. "My how the faithless gather, soon they shall hear and know the truth" he mused to himself allowed. The truth being that the eastern fringe was within their grasp and the first stop is the shrine world of Tempras. The Eparch bit his lip with anticipation, black blood slowly trickled down to his chin. 40 Billion souls, all of them lost to the corpse god. The non-believers need to be taught the pure word. The most Holy and scared passages of Chaos Undivided needed to be preached and received so that they may know what power they bring. Delivers of the Pure Word, knew how to stir a planet and send it into bedlam, Parts of the current war band were former members of the Word Bearers Legion. The aqua marine planet slowly drifted in its orbit. The sorcerer knew that he will be needed to call upon their daemonic allies in the coming fight, the Eparch also Knew that the grand strategy of the Archbishop Ludtgor would play out wonderfully according to the demands of their master the revered Cardinal. He exited the viewing dome and down the halls where infernal chanting could be heard and the cries of the slaves were like a sweet wine to his ears. The most scared form of praise was coming from his chambers by his coven;they were beseeching the daemons of the warp to come forth. Purple smoke stung his eyes as he saw a fresh victim felled in the ritual.

This would be his time where he would ask the Cardinal for his own group of followers to strike out on his own to preach the good word. This would be the Jyhaad, this would be his time to rise in power. As a sixth sense kicked in he spun and struck the Monsingoir that was behind him, Eparch's eyes narrowed and fire was in them for this pathetic creature entered silently and distured his reverie.
"What" Hendari asked impatiently.
"Milor..Milord...His Holiness Lord Ludtgor re...requests an audience...audience in the Hall of Victory." was what the Monsingoir said.

He let the shell of a man fall and hit the floor as a discarded rag. The Eparch exited with out word or acknowledgment of the Monsingoir. The vox casters filled the halls with praises of the Dark Gods. The Eparch strode with purpose and direction through the ship. The Hall of Victory was a Cathedral of a room with a constant choir of praise, litanies, and hatred of the corpse god. The cries of joy, anguish, pride, hatred, fear was a symphony to his ears. Upon entering his saw the Archbishop, Slayer of the Kullderain Stars, Reaper of Tau Empire, Destroyer of the Craftworld Gul-torhain, Archbishop Ludtgor. From where the Eparch was standing Skins of the fallen were flown as victory pennants as were banners and holy icons of thier faithfulness to the ruinous powers. The Delivers of the Pure word were a testimant of a new coming and planned on being at the forefront of a new black crusade in the eastern fringe.

To be continued...

Thanks gits, ego boosts are great .

ok for my regulars that keep up with my blog i made an update saying that Eldar are coming to my page well they are except its not the regular Eldar it is the Dark Eladar. I got them in a pretty good army swap have about 2k worth of points to build primer and paint. I know i know if you came for chaos and space marines well those projects are on hold, i needed a break from them i been playing marine armies for 2 1/2 years now. The good news is that this is what i needed in the hobby, I know what some of you all are thinking what another army? well yea, I am not a codex creeper but i do got to say the Deldar have some pretty cool stuff plus i can run my all jump infantry army that i been thinking about for a while now.

So you may ask whats on the agenda.

Well first off is the pic requests. that is going to be in the next 48 hours. Next get 500 points of Dark Eldar painted up for league play. Right now What i Have Painted a count-as Baron Sathonyx. and ten Partially painted hellions and seven wyches. So to get me reexcited about the hobby i switched to a xenos army. Sides who doesn't like slavers and under handed double crosses. Dont expect much fluff out of this lot. When i feel comfortable with the army then I'll make some fluffy bits.

So recap
Pic update sunday or monday! Start of my new army! Will be posting at least once a week of what has happened hobby wise. I'm going to try and get a bat rep of my first Dark Eldar match when i can get an opponent. Lastly I really need yall's help with the motivation so comments and crits insights thoughts are all welcomed.

thanks for reading

What do you have planned for this guy? Are you sticking with the greyish skin tone? That could be cool. I'm liking the contrast between the grey and the orange hair and purple weapons, btw. Maybe some more color (or at least black ) on the body to break up the grey... But now I'm just rambling (or whatever the typing equivalent is...)

alabamaheretic wrote:Yea im planning on keeping the grey skin and orange hair. where would i put the black?

Your skin tone, blue-ish shirt, green-ish pants, weapon hardware, and respirator are all really similar in tone. I actually thought it was all the same color before I zoomed in on your pic. I think you just need to break up all that space somehow. The skin looks great, so that means changing the shirt, pants, weapons, and respirator. I think black clothes with your grey skin tone and spot colors would look sweet, but maybe too stereotypical DE. So maybe either darkening or brightening your current colors would work also. Hope that clears up my thoughts.

Succubus
Hekatrix Bloodbrides
Incubi
Wytches
Reavers
Hellions
Beast Masters
Razorwing Jetfighters
Ravagers

And Venoms and Raiders

So Far I have Made my Succubus, 29 Wytches/Hekatrix Bloodbrides (made one a Succubus/ Hekatrix), 20 Hellions and 1 Ravager

To make 6 Reavers, 1 Razor wing, 1 Raider, 2 Venoms.

To Paint well everything needs paint in some shape of fashion but thats the update of the day.

Nice rate of fire on these updates!

Hellion) Really dynamic pose on this guy! Do the Hellions have that cool ball and socket joint so they can lean way over and whatnot? IMHO, you have too many colors going on there. I really like the grey skin tone you've acheived paired with the orange hair and purple whip. I think that would make a great color scheme! If it were up to me, I'd go with black/dark grey garb and ditch the blues and greens.

Power Sword) Thanks for the close up, but you HAVE to get that flash figured out Manual flash override with good lighting from multiple angles (but I'm sure there is a good tutorial floating around somewhere) From what i can tell, it has a sweet glowing effect. Ever thought about trying out some OSL?

Scout) I really like that camo color scheme. Very believable.

Alright. Now I'm off to do some painting myself

Cheers,
Rawson

Thanks Rawson

The Hellions are on Ball and sockets but the guy i swapped them from his gf glued them in place actually i got a new color scheme for my Wytches. It it brown armor so im calming the the scheme down some. I figure i dont want to to black, i already have stuff in dark blue, and my chaos marines are dark red so thoughts on colors i haven't used yet, being any shade of green, browns, greys, and the "neon" line (enchanted blue, scorpion green, ect) so i am keeping the orange hair it grew on me plus its very striking to look at, the agoniser being purple is some thing i am keeping. Grey skin check. i like the light brown armour i have going for the wytches looks good with a used feel of bare metal showing through. I'm just having difficulties doing a body suit really.

So i pose a question to my fellow Dakkanauts. What the hell color should i do for the body suits. Suggestions welcome.

So i whipped up a few more test models and i like how this came out so here is the improved body suit and my succubus.

side shot of the helliarch with his green Wytch suit.

helliarch again

Itsa Succubus

Well this was supposed to show off the leg armor and that really didnt happen but you can see the agoniser really well (chainmail with a dwarf bronze drybrush)

Her hellion arm i thought it a good weapon to make a succubus with

Well im not too sure if i dig the blue hair. (i think this is how i figure out what squad goes to who)
Hopefully my actual model of the Succubus comes in soon so i can use her and make her a Bloodbride.
hope yall enjoy.

Good update. I like the color scheme, and your pictures are turning out better.

I especially like the helliarch. It looks like you spent the most time on her. The details are painted well and the colors don't clash. The only advice I would have is to highlight the armor a little bit to distinguish the edges. I'm specifically thinkin about the helliarch's leg. It's hard to tell where her kneecap is. Pop it out a little bit.

Anyway, nice work. I've got to get to class now. Peace!

so good news every one. I am back same stuff as before but going in a new direction I am doing up some eldar rangers as of right now it is the start of something of a project army do not know if i will ever play them but it keeps me going. my other armies i still do there will be updates on everything soon but for now it will be eldar. In other news i recently got my hands on some chaos terminators with lighting claws that need to be done up they also have the fw world eater shoulder pads and i have a second chaos land raider. the dark eldar are still around they are just on pause cuase i was painting a lot of them to get into a tourney and i didnt even attened that tourny (boo). i have a few dark eldar models to show also. one is a Baron Sathonyx count as inspiration via panic. some incubi and a succubus. i know this is a plog and there are supposed to be picures but as of now the camera and i are at seperate locations so i have to update with this wall of text. next update will be pics of the Succubus, the squad of rangers I am working on, the baron sathonyx model and some incubi as a treat also. so until then.

well it has been a while since i have posted anything new. But i have lots of pics for everyone to gander at. So if you read my last post, I said there would be some things up and i thought i would start off by showing some stuff that i did before i took my hiatus. the auto focus got me a bit but due to crappy weather here (rain) i could not get any outside pics like i wanted.

So first on the menu today is my Baron Sathonyx count as model. I got the idea and inspiration from fellow dakkanuat panic. you should check out his stuff really cool things going on there. I hope he does not mind i kinda took his idea of taking a lelith hesperex model and sticking her on a skyboard. but this is my verion so please enjoy.

here is her back side...erm...back and hair and her tiny thong.

here is the front

Now next is something else i did in my time away and took the pics many moons ago and that is my razorwing jet fighter.

ok on to stuff i am currently working on! well to get me "back in the saddle" i decided on painting up some eldar. The only two things i have right now are an Aurtach (spelling?) and some rangers. I also have some banshees but they are on the back burner until I have these guys finished first a look at the Aurtach.

you may ask why is he still WIP? Because, i have not finshed the power sword or his pistol arm. On an unrelated note his eyes came out kinda herpy imo. going to rectify that soon.

Here is a better shot of his Swooping Hawk wings and there glory. I know i sneezed and the thin lines i was doing to finish them up came out all bloopy im still working on this guy so have no fear.

Next up is the squad of rangers i have i have completed one of them so i can show you him and a few other the things i worked on on the squad for the most part they are mostly unfinished.

Here is a close up of the ranger i finshed last night.

backside of the ranger

well thats everything for now will try to get another update soon but for now enjoy the eye candy. oh comment and critiques welcomed.

see ya soon!

not to my knowledge will have to dig out the book. on the other hand the sun did decide to show its face so i got some better pics to show off now

first count as baron sathonyx

next up is the autarch

heres a group shot of the rangers im working on

and here is 2 shots of the first ranger complete

on another note do you think i should do the rangers from different craqftworlds or from the same one. In the books, games (dawn of war 2 specifically) and the codex they are considered travelers so it is likely that they all come from different craft worlds. just want to know what you all think.

Sweet baron sathonyx conversion, buddy! I love alternate uses for existing models (which anyone could figure out from my blog )

I think your finished ranger has too many white tones. Could just be the picture, but all the white makes it look unfinished.

Keep up the great work!

Hello Everybody!

so just an update on what has been going on. I thought i lost one of my rangers to the warp and then found him when i was not looking for him. so my squad is whole again. great news. and i got some more stuff done to the squad and i thought i would post a few pics to show you guys what I have been working on my day off from school (besides studying). I did post a question in a few posts earlier and that question still stands. Should all my rangers come from different craftworlds? Since no one said anything yet I am going to assume they should come from the same craft world. any way enough blather picture time!

I really like tiger stripe camo this is my take of urban tiger stripes.

here are the two rangers side by side i was trying out something new with the one on the left the one on the right is the original color scheme.

here is a front shot of the second one i think he came out pretty good.

here is the two of em side by side

so lemme know what you guys think. so now i pose two questions to the great people of dakka.

1. What color scheme to keep?
2. And should my second squad of rangers come from a different craft world.

well that is every thing for now. enjoy the pics.

I like the one on the right better, it feels more eldary to me. I like the scheme better, and I'm not really digging the camo pattern on the other guy. Maybe if you came up with something a little more exotic and xenos looking?

I would like to repeat my previous "too much white" comment. It all looks the same shade right now, but could be an optical illusion...

Keep up the good work!

HI Again!

well its that time update and i got some great stuff to show you guys...well i think its great. I just finished up my squad of rangers so woohoo! Since it was rainy a few days ago i thought i would try my hand at building some terrain i am no where near done with it as of yet but i wanted to show you guys some progress i made with that. I also decided to repaint the Farseer i got in a trade. It was painted ok but it really didn't fit the army at all so now its having a bath in some mean green. On to new business I have assembled 6 fire dragons and 6 howling banshees. They both have Exarchs the Fire Dragon Exarch has a fire pike and the Howling Banshee Exarch has a executioner. The Fire Dragons have been primed and I currently have the exarch worked on. He looks done but I'm not sure. Anyway enough with my endless rambles. Picture time!

fourth ranger

5th ranger...before you guys say any thing i did fix his sleeve already.

the squad
Squad shot...yes there are two bases incomplete in the picture but they are done like the rest of the squad.

back of the squad with the strange looking camo patterns

here is a side of the building i made

here is a top down of the terrain

fire dragon exarch with fire pike

fire dragon exarch again

rangers in terrain

another shot of the rangers in terrain

Any hints, ideas, suggestions, thoughts on how to make the piece of terrain better would be nice. not too worried if the project comes out perfect it is after all my first piece i ever made.

Well I hoped you enjoyed the pictures. I also hope you like my take on Fire Dragons too.
C&C welcomed and appreciated. thanks for looking!

HEllo again thought i would give an update since i haven't been on as of late (finishing with the semester and all).
so to those that care we have almost 5000 views woot! i have also offcially finished my 500 point space marine project finally.

That consists of the sniper scouts a tact squad with a melta gun and plasma cannon and one lonely rhino and my captain with a plasma pistol and power fist so weather permitting (looks like it will be) ill have a "army shot" for you. i had to put the banshees down cuase i was getting mad at them so mini break from them so i decided to take some marines i have laying about and construct a blood angels army again shooting for 500 points and will work up from there. oh yea i have my ironclad dreadnought to show yall too should have a pic of him tomorrow also.

so i had a question for you fine folks is there an easy way to put a drop pod together? Im looking at getting a few for my space marine projects. I tried putting my buddys together and it nearly killied me i had to put it down cuase the bottom was not staying on and when the doors would close it wasnt staying in place like it was supposed too.

any way keep a weathered eye out for tomorrows update

You could try the GW website. Sometimes they have assembly guides that are helpful...

@rawson, i think i tried that already will try that again later.

so in other news its time for an up date. I know i bounce around alot on projects on here but it keeps me going painting wise. So I dusted off my space marines and set about completing them appearently i only had a rhino and like 4 tact marines to paint to actually round out my 500 point list. So i took an army shot with everything of thiers painted and ready to go a few days ago and just got home to post them for you today. so i found out with wargear and the troops i have i have 905 points! So my goal of 500 is complete and my goal to 1k is almost complete. so with out further ado

5th Company Knights of Mcragge:

Here is the Army looking awesome.

Here is Captain Doromo he will lead them to glory in the emperor's name

Here is Chaplain Grenda

Sgt Kerva with Part of Second Squad

The rest of second squad

Brothers Idreal (reg dread) and Konrad (iron clad)

Second squads Rhino "Purity"

Hopefully you enjoyed the presentation of my little army
catch yall later

Always good to have a plan in mind! Helps me keep going with the 104th

You're missing a few vets and a Captain in that group shot, aren't you? Were those guys for a different project or something?

On the painting side of things, I think you need to slow down a bit there, 'Bama. Your rhino isn't up to the same standards as some of your other stuff. Feels a bit rushed, know what I mean?

Keep the updates coming!

@rawson yea looking at the rhino in person and the pic its just not the same. in person its not half bad i think it was the angle i took the pics at to be honest.

the group shot is just missing the chaplain other than that it is fine.

well thanks for pointing out my "rush job" i think it feels rushed is because i set myself a deadline to finish it in and i felt rushed. next time i wont set my self a dead line so close me thinks. again rawson thanks for the input it is really helpful.

Hey all,
Thought i would do a small update for the 5th Company of the Knights of Mcragge. Started working on first squad the other day and thought i would share some wips of them. if any one was wondering my over all goal is to have an entire company of space marines. when i started 40k three years ago that was my plan, still is it is just taking longer than expected (life happening and all) so you guys game for pics not the story of my life so here it is. I also put together some Devastators from bits.

1st Squad with power fist sgt.

the rest of first squad lascannon and flamer.

Missile Launcher Devastators

now if i only had the signum back pack for the devs sgt i'd be doing much better.

So Happy easter every one.

It is not such a happy day for me as one of my good friends passed away today. He will be missed and he won't be forgotten. In honor of my departed friend who was an avid 40 player I'm starting a Blood Angels army, He said he wanted to start one after his eldar. I don't think he had a name for it yet but in on honor of him I am using his middle name as the captain of my army. Captain Leopold will be started soon. I'm also naming the army the Halo Guardian's for two reasons. One his eldar force had a crap ton of Guardians and two Halo well angels heaven that sort of thing it just made sense to me. So I have a test model not done but with the colors i would like to take this army. My friend also had a thing for Striking scorpions that's why there is green in the scheme I picked. This is not a complete model just a very rough idea of what I think they should look like. again like all my projects that put me into a serious mode they all start out at 500 points.

At any rate here is the test model for the Halo Guardians

so thats the test model tell me what you guys think?

So time for a wordy update. I know not what yall were looking for but real life has been getting in the way. So in other good news my girlfriend is on bored with me building the blood angel army homage to my friend. she bought me the blood a angel box set and an extra squad of death company. so you all should thank her via my blog. also in other news i made a trade today to swell the ranks of the blood angels by two more full ten man squads with melta and flamers and pwer weapon wielding sergeants, 3 apocatharies, a drop pod, an aobr dreadnought. so my blood angels have swelled to ten death company, 4 assault squads(ten man), two dreadnoughts, a drop pod, rhino, a tactical squad, a captain, a reclusiarch, five man sterguard veterans and two attack bikes. so not bad at all. I also made some terrain today will show pics in a few days . I lost the camera and have no idea where it ran off to. so yea that's what is happening in the world of the heretic. Hope to find the camera and put pics up soon.

In painting news I have finished off the captain and started painting one of the attack bikes, I also painted the reclusiarch also. I know pictures or it didn't happen. I have also been trying out a few new painting techniques to make my marines look better but again that will have to wait until the camera is found.

Oh yea! Me and a few of my friends are starting up a 40k campaign. there are six players we had a lot of it set up then the files ended up being corupt and we lost it all. So the other armies are Chaos Space Marines, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Necrons and Space Wolves. I will post my list and there lists as i get them and also more info on our campaign. and if you live near the columbus ga area and would like to attend please feel free and pm me.

well that is all for now.

next update will be pic heavy promise.

Well it is saturday in sunny alabama and like i promised a few days ago it is an update.

So for those that just skip to the pictures and don't read what is said and skip to the picture. I am building a blood angels army cuase of a dear friend of mine passing away. All the details about the army are a few posts up from this one so if you are interested in what it says please go read it.

So what news of the day my girlfriend surprised me with a Storm Raven Gunship and it should be here on monday or tuesday. I did do some painting not much but i did some, I have completed Captain Leopold and painted on one of two attack bikes. I have also assembled both squads of assualt marines one with a flamer the other has a melta gun. have not put any primer to them so I will not be showing picutes of them I also painted up some death company like two of them and have the other three assembled the chaplain needs his pistol and face done then he should be complete; most of the pictures that I am presenting today are works in progress with a couple of fully painted figures.

In other news the campaign me and my buddy are working on has seven of fifteen custom missions to play and I should be getting ready to post that in a campaign blog also. I'm really excited by this because I will have almost 3k of Blood Angels. It is going to be a friendly campaign so far i think there is one spam list and that is because he is playing the models he has which kinda sucks. I will post my 3k Campaign list in a few days and if you all want i can post the other players lists also to see what the competition is going to be like.

In other hobby news my Custom Chapter is looking for a special character or two to fill out the ranks. And I have know idea who to pick, I am leaning towards Shrike, Sicarus, or Chaplain cassius. I would also like to pick up Sergeant Tellion but I am not to sure. Any way I would like to know what the community thinks.

On to the update!

Captain Leopold

Chaplain Navain

Veteran Sergeant Ortios

Painted Up Death Company need to finish his eyes though

Death Company Squad Shot

First Assualt Squad Sergeant has a plasma pistol and power fist also melta gunner

side shot of attack bike with multimelta

Sanguinary Priest with power sword

well that's all the updates for now hope you all enjoy

Dude! love the halo Guardians, the painting is good and the colour scheme is really striking and different, even in 4 pages I can totally see an improvement from the first models you started with! Knights of Macragge are an awesome scheme too, the blue and yellow with white accents is the same as my old primary school colours :-) and boy that was a while ago i tell you!

I like the choice for death co. colours you used, only thing i can suggest is a bit more work on the reds? but they do look very striking.

keep up the god work Bama!

Glad you like my take on BA. Well between the three people i llisted above and the few that I haven't listed you all make it worth it.
oh any suggestion on how to imporve the red should i start with a darker base maybe? I'm doing the base in mechrite red and goings to blood red. im not too sure on how to high light or wet blend verywell but like you said in your blog it is a learning process.

No drama's Bama, compliments where they're due! and you are doing some solid work that you can improve on easily! with reds I start with blood red and add blazing orange to highlight, then pure blazing orange, then blazing orange and vomit brown, then pure vomit brown then wash with baal red and it's done, I think there's a step by step in my blog but i can pm you another one with pics if you need it anytime!

What would that make? Your fourth 40k project in five pages? Knights of MacCragge, Eldar, Halo Guardians, and Necromunda? Just giving you a bad time I enjoy the concept of Necro or =][= munda, but not a lot of people play in CPH (at least not that I know of). @ rawson the necromunda thing is just a thought the eldar got traded. I realized i would never play them so they found a good home to a decent eldar player so i limit what is going to be shown in the blog and thats space marines mostly the halo guardians, the klnights, and when i get there some chaos marines. like i said the munda thing is just some musings i had could be interesting. so no plans as of yet i promise still have plenty of 40k regular projects to do.at any rate thanks for checking in should get the bug back soon then ill start doing more and have a good update soonish.

Well the three that stand out the most to me for your particular color schemes are

Agrax earthshade(devlan mud)
Nuln oil
and Drakenhof nightshade

ALSO
experiment with the glazes!
they enhance color if placed on same color
OR
add a hue to whatever they are placed on

Dumbo: awesome will look at my crappy hobby town.

so in hobby event as you you have read while i haven't been updating much. Reason being my marines are starting to feel like a job/chore and are not getting any fun. So you may ask your self wtf? we want to see some ok looking marines and bad attempts at humor where am I going to go for that? you can still do it here I promise but like last time I wont be falling off the face of the earth.

A few posts earlier i have mentioned i was thinking of making a necromunda gang. And i think I am going to save up some pennies and purchase some catchans and turn them in to gangers. Still have no idea what rule set i want to use. Right now it is a toss up between Goliaths, Orlocks, and Van Saar. Again big armies are fun but man do they take a lot out of you. at any rate if any of my fellow viewers have any input regard this decision of mine then please let me know. I have seen the masters work you know all the usal suspects and some new face. (dstien, Baiyuan, DexterKong, Migs, and a few others that i can not name cuase i can't remember for the life of me thier names) But all these wonderful blogs have made me think i should slow down from big armies and do some skirmish games. So if my thread goes quiet it means I'm working on something that is not marine related.

so that leads to another question should i start a second blog for all my munda stuff? just just have add about the situation?

thanks for reading

So I have been quite busy today with some terrain pieces so far they are very fun. I have been experimenting with air clay to see if that medium is any good with some clay tools it works like a charm. todays main project is a toxic waste tower and sludge pit. I took me most of today to get it done and I am very please on how it turned out today. so enough ramble here is some pics to show you all what I have been doing on mothers day. And to any mothers that read this Happy mothers Day to you.

basic idea with clay down to "hold" the sludge in

here is a not so blurry pic to see. (sorry about the first one)

Here is a shot showing some minor detailing i did with the bank

the sludge and tar added

while the main topic is drying right now i was working on a low wall. the marine is there for reference in necromunda it would give half cover while the taller end is full cover.

another half wall i was working on.

So I am not so sure about how to paint the tower So far I know it is going to have rust and rivets. other than that no clue but we will see where it goes from there. I do want to add a sign to the black spot in the middle of the sludge. I will have to figure out some kind of awesome to figure out that bit but when i do it will be cool, I hope.

any way that is all i have to show for the night I hope you enjoy looking at it as i had a blast trying to create it.

That was my thought also, i even thought i should put up a cane fishing poll with some string in it. You know some crazy old coot will think there be a mighty fish in the sludge pond.

That is some pretty sludge man!! It has so much depth and...gak..in it..I mean that in the best possible way, of course

New Dremel?? Niice!

May I suggest some external piping protruding from the tank, wrapping arund the riveted can?? Maybe even a corroded drain pipe or burst pipe to suggest where the pool of gak came from?

..or even fish bones floating?

well as the sludge dried it became dark nothing a dry brush cant fix. I will look or make something for the sludge to be pouring out of right now it is so so cuase it looks like it leaked out of the floor. fishing bones hmmm....might have a go at that tomorrow when it is light out. i think i can make that again will have to be on the morrow though as i have an early dr apt in the am. so night fella and if you guys think of any thing else just pop in hear or pm me.

Laser printed signage/posters are the easiest way to add signage. A anything printed with laser printing will not run when wet, and that allows for really easy application to terrain surfaces.

Edit.
Hmm an easy fix to show where the goop oozed from would be to add a corroded "patch job" to the bottom of the can.

Mspaint might do. but ive found that word processing programs handle resizing for printing quite well.

and then i saw you mentioning me as an isnpiration for terrain making i feel honored! thank you very much!

seeing you work with air clay... i think instead of you doing everything in one go and then carve out the form that you like... why not make lil sausages of clay and then later on put them together as little sandbags? or for that matter as brickwork... i did some HW bases for my IG arms that way with fimo...

anyways... i am now subbed^^

vik thanks for stopping on in! I didnt want to clutter baiyauns thread with our endless prattle of video games you know the "good ones" . and you do have some sweet stuff i really like the scratch tanks so awesome.

reapplied some gunk this time with PVA Glue and yellow and green food coloring with a hint of water came out pretty good. waiting for it to dry i even did try doing some pva rivets. needless to say they came out big and orky. so back to the board with them atm.

yea but i really dont see sandbags fitting in the under hive. maybe on top of a building like the ones i saw when i was in iraq (yea im a vet) so thats a thought.

speaking of iraq building wise great source of inspiration for the over crowded "hab block" building look. and tiny streets maybe ask max he might know what i am talking about. so i'll work on some sandbags right now home made chicken tenders made me lazy.

Oh stein, i was reading through your blog ( im actually on page 145) and i saw the idea for a watering hole there is also some old munda fluff about paradise city that i drew inspiration then i found these and i thought i should make a shady gentlemens joint (pics mildy nsfw) http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Chronoscope/sku-down/50270

A possible substitute for true Water FX might be a layer of Elmers type PVA glue (that dries clear) or Clear sillicone caulking.

That sludge is PVA and food colouring? What a fantastic effect, might have to steal that one I'm really excited that you're getting into Necromunda - are you still trying to decide on a gang? If you're converting your own, the choice is purely a skill-based one: van saar tend to be a bit powergamey (juves with techno skills get very good, very quick), Orlocks are good all rounders, and Goliath have a very particular fighting style. I totally recommend converting your own, obvs The gang choice doesn't make a huge difference unless you're using the GW models, to be honest - Necromunda is never very balanced, so it might just be worth picking whoever suits your playstyle best, them coming up with your own background.

If you're still looking for posters, drop me a PM with your email add - I can send you quite a few posters at the right scale, just print em out on normal A4.

Can't wait to see where you go with this! (And thanks for the name drop, massive ego boost there )

Hey guys,

sorry for the recent mia. I have been dealing with legal stuff and medicine. got one more big appt on tuesday then i can fully get back into doing the awesome.

scarper if you use food coloring and pva glue make sure you do an under coat of green white or grey. the mk II production looks better than the original. I will get pics post hopefully soon (like tomorrow)
as to the gang thing i can barly use gs and i i wouldnt even know where to start buying bitz for as gang. Skill wise i like the orlocks. but i also like the eschers (i just want to give them all roller derby girl names )
the only problem im having with munda like a lot of people is the lack of players and since im in a backwards state as is gaming dont rank to hgh compared to nascar and football.

any again guys thanks for looking and ill be back up in running in no time.

Hey all,
Been awhile for an actual update been dealing with lotta personal crap. So since i disappeared for two weeks I can imagine a update is needed. But for those intrested in what little personal life I have things are looking up!

So I started this necromunda thing with gusto, still am working on it. I scrapped the original sludge pit for i think a new and improved one thanks from the friendly folks of dakka. (galorn, dstien, vik, scarper, and my buddy rawson).

Today was a good day got some walls made and they are drying I have to say air clay is an amazing medium. It is super light one down side is after it dries if it is not thick enough it cracks and well cracking sucks. But that is neither here nor there. I can see why so many people make terrain I used to paint to relieve stress but making terrain is a better stress reliever I think. It actually makes you take time to do it right and get everything done slowly. My painting will go on and I think for the next painting project we are going to do a gang for munda. Again my Top three favorites right now are Orlocks, Escher, and Goliaths. I have some sm scouts that look like they need to be slightly less marined and more gangish I am still looking at the bits on the sprues to actually figure out what needs cut and so on and so forth.

If any one has a suggestion on how to convert normal space marine scouts lemme know cause that is what i have to work with atm.

So you may ask your self at this time or think "damn dude you talk a lot wheres the pics?" and i say to you here they are.

again thanks for looking

I reworked the sludge and put a base glue layer of tacky glue down then added yellow, light green and dark green craft paint then my trusty concoction of food coloring, water and glue to the mix.
this pic was taken after i got all of that mess mixed up and spread out.

here is the top of the sludge tower. and thanks to the suggestion of galorn saying "hey since you have air clay make some sand bags" so i did i let them dry out over night then tacky glued them in place as you can see one fell in to the sludge pit so now it has a healthy shade of green to it think of it as extra sticky.

here is a rear shot of the tower and some more sand bags. As you can see from the rear there are to open areas atop the tower that is so i can add walk ways to the mix giving people a reason to go up there and hide and shoot.

So I was thinking when i get done with this what should I work on next, walways a tower the seedy bar a ware house? the possibilties are endless I would like to hear everyones thoughts on this issue so feel free to voice your opinion.

i really like the sludge pool, the pattern in the sludge looks very cool especially!

one word to the sandbag barrier on top... for me the individual sandbags look a bit too big... tho if these have been built by SM i think they probably work as a SM would be able to carry them then... IG or the average human would have some problems with that size tho...

i would try to make a ladder of some sorts for the tower...this would add a bit of more nice deatil to this terrain piece and get the viewer to see it in a good realistic scale then...and maybe add a bit of a pipe where the sludge is coming from into the pool...

as for the scout conversion... would love to help you with ... in a thearetical way... but you have to be a bit more specific for that matter... what pieces do you want to use and what should be the outcome... for my own opinion scouts bitz go very well with IG bitz... or come to that old necromunda bitz of the plastic kits as well... i own a small group of goliaths and they are so bulky as could be mixed with marines even^^

and what next...hmmm... a big question indeed... tho walkways are always something you probably need in abundance

Bama's big blog o stuff Supply Drop 6-8-2018 @ 2012/05/29 22:08:03

Post by: alabamaheretic

vik: Yea would you believe that sludge pool was made by swirling a paint brush around in it?
i was in the army so over sized sandbags not really a problem some of them in my opinion are toolong but for a first time trying out sand bags i think they came out pretty cool. I think if i try really hard i can make it look like an impromptu ladder was slapped on the side to give it a more realistic look as some one "raced up it". the pip i have some straws im gonna add to it and make a drain out of havent got to that part actually and i was thinking some kind of box also.

the scouts i was thinking make them look like they have long sleeves and not a bulky armor. well like i said i have a four scout marines with bolt pistols and knives shotguns and one heavy bolter. I just dont have any other bits as of yet cuase im still deciding on if i should break down and buy a catchan guard "army set" for unlimited conversion material and what not.. i do see what other people use kroot bits scouts guard and what not and a lot of empire models for inq 28.

yea walk ways are a must but i thought up something kinda fun to do today. And that was make a fungus forest!

fungus forst sounds rather fun! do share it asap as it is recognizable^^

actually i do think you did the sludge pool just like that! wouldn´t have any other idea of achiveing just that swirly look^^

ladder and pipe...yep i guess they will help the model to go a step further! also a crate never hurts^^ maybe even some resting gun at the sandbags...and don´t get me wrong... for a first time making those they doo look very good... my suggestons were only for future projects anyways...

you could even skip the ladder and to a knotty rope as a means to get up there...

as for the scouts idea...i firstlky would go for the cadian set if i was you... cadian and scouts go very well together... the catachans are too baare chested in my view... not really an option if you want ling sleeves...

yea i put some of the fungus together im letting them cure now . i thought it was whimsical and thought eh not all fungus grows on the walls so there we go.

oh i just cobbled together a ladder and a pipe on it gives it that much more oomph, thanks for the suggestion. now if i only knew where to buy crates and stuff like that then i'd be set i keep looking at model rail roading stuff then there is pegasus games too i think i might bite the bullet and buy some prefab stuff like that.

maybe ill use the shot guns and the like for my catchans. I just like there look better to be perfectly honest. as gang wise they could be goliaths or orlocks so thats another part of thier appeal.

i just thought i would drop my two cents in as the glue dries further on to the piece

now you got me thinking how small of twine do i need to make ropes to go up some thing thanks for the food for thought.

Post by: Viktor von Domm

if you go for that average packaging twine i think you are on save grounds... the knots will be trickier... you need to find a good distance inbetween them... but some things have to be tested i think...

and crates... well i got recently some bead-boxes from an artshop that i wanted to 40k-fy^^ they were rather cheap and i think the scale was not too bad...:

looking forward to more pics of your fungus then^^

Thats really neat vik.
In other news the fungus is drying and the sludge pit is about ninety percent complete needs some paint and a few more details then ill call it good. should have some kind of update either today or tomorrow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So an up date within an update inception? I think not just auto append.

At any rate finished up the sludge pit this morning and it looks great and i couldn't wait to show yall.

I am also working on the fungus forest I decided to add a walk way pillar to it to give it some height. I cut it kinda shot so it slopes down very gradually so it works out. Pic of that later today.

So to our main attraction the sludge pit!

Here is a shot of the bank i did some slight dry bushing with rotting flesh to give the out side of the bank a more dried up look.

The actual sludge in the pit dried up looking all pretty! In this shot it also shows the dump noizzle where the sludge came out. That piece is made from a part of a bendy straw.

Here is a shot of the side of our attraction sand bags were a pain in the ass to paint but over all the effect is good i think. This shot also shows some dry brushed rust I did I think it came out well since I am terrified of doing weathering.

Here is a shot of the ladder looks pretty good all painted up this was made with "craft sticks" and toothpicks. (craft sticks are a fancy way of saying popsicle sticks)

Here is the ladder close up with some rust effect (hooray for fancy dry brushing technique) I didn't add a wash to it but I may since looking at the picture.

Any rate that is what I have For my first piece of actual Necromunda terrain i do say i think it came out rather well.
And i even did some PVA rivets for the league as an experiment.

Comments and Critiques are welcomed. I hope you enjoy looking at this as I enjoyed making it and now on to the fungus forest and walkway!

yall take care now a hear.

bama

again i have to say the sludge looks very good! the pipe you added looks convincing but i have to ask you something... did you do something to keep it save? like for instance fill it with PVA so that it will stay in shape? just to be on the safe side here...

the ladder is a very original way of doing that! and i like that! but as you said... a lil bit of wash probably wont hurt^^

one thing i have to suggest tho... try to not get the rim of the slidge pool all done in sludge look... i dunno how the base will be looking like... probably something like earthen ground or something like that... the "crater" you have there should be seen through the gaky sludge on some spots too...did i make myself understandable here?

and glue rivets...thumbsup:

Holy Crap a second update!

Well isn't it yalls lucky day!

Actually I have been very productive all day with various things that are hobby related. I started making the fungus caps and stems two days ago and they finally dried enough to be handled so that was awesome. I also thought i needed to add some hieght to the game so instead of doing a whole forest of shrooms and what not i plopped a tower in the middle so so there can be a walk way. Good stuff all around!

I also played with my dremel today and put together my orlocks. So grinding off stuff is way too much fun. I also tried my had with a little gs and well I know that I'm not really good with it but this time i didnt leave any finger prints. At least i don't think I left any finger prints. So one guy looks like he is hulked out in a ton of body armor not what i was going for but eh first real attempt at gs work.

So you can bet your bottom dollar that i took a few pics of todays adventure and with completing the sludge pond I feel today has been the most successive hobby days I have had in a very long time.

so enough with my ramble lets get to some pics!

here are the fungus pieces i made two days ago cured and ready to be placed.

here is the base that everything is going on, you may ask why it is preflocked and for that I will tell in another picture.

ok this is a crappy side shot i took inside (remind me to never take pics inside). this is done with a few pieces glued in place with the tower. Don't mind the fungus up on top of the tower he was waiting his turn to find a home.

Here it all is primered up and the reason why i flocked it first i used a rattle can to make it look like dust was falling in to the black soil. and the bottom and the round fungus are too seperate pieces sepereated by some height and i thought how cool would it be to jump on a fungus and climb on to a walk way. The cap you see is actually on a leaning stem like it grew kinda crazy that was the most difficult piece to work with cuase of weird weight problems but it worked out in the end.

Here we can see that stem that is defiying gravity.

and here is my little gang this is the goon squad!

Ok so what do you all think? I am thinking i need to add a few more shrooms to the mix to make it look better but I don't want to over do it ya know.

well that is what I have been up too. So tomorrow I think i Might paint the fungus up to complete it but i think the tower is missing something i just don't know what.

Any thoughts on any comments or questions?

So the final thing before I am done. What do you think the tower is missing?

That sludge effect is amazing! Will have to try something similar once I've moved in Summer and actually have some space for terrain Looks like it would be a lot of fun to play on too - are you planning on making some house rules for what happens to people who end up in that stuff? Looks pretty grim... you should stick a scavenger marker up at the top, give someone reason to risk getting knocked into the sludge!
I think what Vik means (correct me if I'm wrong here!) is that the edges of the crater should be the same colour as ground, with sludgy spots, rather than uniformly the colour of the sludge. It could work quite nicely if you wanted to try it out, but it looks great now too if you just wanted ot leave it

Can't wait to see what you do next!

EDIT:

Shrooms look good! The terrain piece looks really interesting, but it's hard to say until you're a little further down the line. Promising start though!

thanks for covering my back scarper... you got me right on this one!

and alabama... that shroom terrain is looking very cool! the caps came out splendidly! i really like them! i would suggest to cover them now with a coat of PVA to keep them from crumbling... this can happen... air dry clay in such thin and fragile forms may be quiet sensitve...!

as for the scouts/orlocks of yours... i am not sure atm about the right guy of yours... the GS specially on the chainsword arm looks a bit wonky... i think the transition of the torso to the arm via the shoulder needs a bit of more work to make it look smoother... how..hmmm... it´s a puzzler to me really as i am still figuring out how to bets cope with GS...

and by the way what tool did you use with your dremel to work on those minis? just asking if oyu have any good tools i should be getting too...

Vik: I didn't see your first post ya kinda snuck one in on me. And i actually coated the bottom with craft glue it is a tad stickier than PVA so it should hold the job pretty good. Thanks for liking the rivets it was my first try they looked pretty good when i painted them.

So if i am understanding both you and scarper i should have painted the banks a little bit of a different color? but as it stands right now I'm pleased as punch with it so I do not think will be doing any changes to it.

Scarper really have not thought about rules but in my mind this is some caustic and thick so it will kill you in some horrible fashion. (like any good thing in munda) (remember kids add baking soda to kill the effect) But thinking about it if you get shot with a high impact or man stopper rounds that is gonna send you flying into the gunk *insert evil laugh here*

as to the shroom terrain it has a long way to go just trying to think up how it can still be cool and still playable. so thinking caps on gents.

as to the wonky gs that is my mess up i didnt grind a piece down to the right size.

dremmel i just used the standard grind pad that it came with to do it it takes some finesse to do but ill get better with practice.

yea working with gs is a nightmare in my opinion.

well my plan with the wonky arm is to cut off the hand grind it down some and then reglue the hand after i place new gs on it.

well again if you boys think of anything while im getting ready to have dinner please lemme know

edit for horrible spelling errors.

well i am off for sleepy land now... but i will leave the thinking cap on for the night^^ dunno...maybe i dream up something

the decision is ultimatly yours... so leave it as is! don´t let yourself get confused by us^^

GS takes a lot to getting used too... mixing it... getting it on the spot you want... and then the whole sculpting issue... as for fingerprints... i haven´t got that problem at least... i always use gloves... if you leave marks...then it will be creases and such things... which then even can look cool ian inteded ... i would suggest getting a package of throw away gloves and get it on!

Allrighty,

So today was a very good day of making more munda terrain. I have accomplished a lot well to me it is alot. well i forgot to take a pic of the two newest shrooms on the piece but they are on there. I also found out that dry wall tape makes great grating for walkways and such. So all the wips you see were before i primed every thing. But as it stands its all primed and i hate cutting out circles need to find an easier way to do that. Any rate it's time for a small update. I might up date later tonight after I do some work on my gang some still nameless but i have three gangers and one heavy. any way picture time and enjoy!

here is a pipe piece I put together I think it came out quite good.

here you can see some texturing and the space between the pipes. I forgot to mention this was made from an aluminum wrapper cardboard tube if any one was wondering.

so with the sludge pit i thought a chem pit would be good here is the base structure i made it this morning and it is drying out i will be using the same techniques as i did earlier to make it just waiting for it to cure.

here is the shroom piece with new shrroms and a platform and the all mighty grating of drywall tape.

here is two towers i made with a bigger walk way i dont think this one will have any siding on it not too sure.

here is the first walkway I completed again with drywall tape grating

here is a close up of the platform for the shroom tower piece

and the base for the tower i built. it should be noted that both tower bases are built the same way empty roll of tiolet paper and an old cd.

well that is what i got done today with terrain like i said i will be posting up some progress on my gang tonight also they are not ready for primer but i think i can do a little something with them to make them look better till later.

hey bama... i started to work with those toilett paper rolls and chips rolls and what not in the beginning too... but there is one major drawback with this material... it is rolled up cardboard... if possible you should do something to cover up that rolled up look of the cardbaord... that is instantly recognizable and later on when fully painted kills off a lot of the gaming athomsphere... use some tape... add PVA and sand on certain areas or do something completly diffrent on this... heck you could add paper and glue it on top of everything...just get rid of that spiral looking look...

the dry wall tape really looks interesting...saw that being used on skalk and daves thread too... i for one want to use soon anti- flymesh for windows... hope this might work too...

as for using that thick type of cardboard form packagings... i would add paper there too to obscure the inner look and create a more uniform looking structure....other than that i think you are onto something good here with the use of the CD terrain... maybe add the odd tooth pick there to get a sort of railing look...

but i really have to congratulate you for your ongoing productivity!!!

yea the dry wall taspe is aces man i really like it. i might add some dry wall tape to kill that spiral look your talking about.
I have done some pva expirements with water and paper towels that came out interesting too. then add water and sand and presto instant drywall mud stuff.

yea lemme know how that fly mesh turns out for ya.

i think the uniform look is nice but it is supposed to be the under hive so it has gone all irregular, that and i can't cut a straight line for gak. and something else about the inner workings just think of it as seing the inside of a building like a bombed out referance photo from WW II. Or any sci fi thing when star ship get ripped open.

not trying to have an arguement more a healthy discussion on where i was comming from man.

any rate thanks for the input nmone the less.

I just got tired of putting big armies together to be honest. Still love 40k may play some on sat but munda just gives you a much more personal aspect to it.

well I think I'll give the spirals a once over after dinner (taco salad yum)

well i got too much free time honestly thats the only reason i get so much done in one day.

Oh if you were wondering i fixed that guys shoulder and made it less wonky looking and to chop off his hand and grind down the rest of the shoulder pad and re green stuffed it came out better then i messed up and got all excited so now the should pad looks like crap nothing sandpaper can't fix though. like i said should be something interesting about thim tonight.

i am totally with ouy on the personal aspect... in fact innthe future i want this to be a major aspect of my sons and mine playing games... skirmishges are way more interesting than epic battles... and beside i am a roleplayer by heart... so munda or mordheim are way more interesting to be honest...

and why do you have so much time on your hands?

oh im out of college for the summer and unemployed at the moment. but i do have a job assesment test on tuesday so maybe i'll get some kind of work.

nothing new with the minis still grey and green i do got the sand paper out to smooth out some things though to see how that gos though.

after the last sanding with the sandpaper i would suggest using the xacto knife to scrape off a bit of the more fairer "dust" still clinging to the bitz... happens to me all of the time... but after the knife everything is back to smoothness...

so this means i have to cross fingers then... is your age right? 29... well i droped out of college and was for many years unemplyoed... it happens... i will have a job inn august...hopefully it goes all well...

and my kids... the older one... i bet he is a roleplayer by heart too... i can feel it already... and he is a mere six years old...

http://anthony-case.me.uk/necromunda
here is the rules that i'm gonna teach my friend sorry they are not in german anthony case used to work on necromunda from what i read.

again from what i have read orlocks do a little bit of everything so they are a good "starter gang" (they look like bikers)
wither way it should be good fun for all
if he gets the police are you going to paint them up like the politzie? cuase i think that would be kinda cool

well they will be painted in blue... one of these days i should take awip of them... not really much to be seen really... the primed minis are by the way in my gallery called felix freedom force...

and i already have the rules on my pc... a pdf i think even from the GW site? ?

what i like from what i´ve read about munda is the campain aspect and the development of charcters... that is my stake at the game... you have to make choices...and don´t get your good ones killed in action for just another kill... because they can get outkiited for good and get much stronger from game to game... 40k can´t possibly get such a feature working...

Bama's big blog o stuff Supply Drop 6-8-2018 @ 2012/05/31 23:05:23

ah the classic police man look. primed minis are one step from being painted.

ah ok well the community edition has a few rule changes and clears up any misunderstandings of rulings too.

yea that aspect of making good decisions is n o pun intended a killer wrong one means you might lose a guy.

yup... in 40k it is so easy to waste away a platoon... i don´t like that way of thinking... that´s why i want to name for my 40k army each man... that might help me not get them slaughtered too easy...

and yep in munda you have to make way more and hopefully better choices...

so now i need to look into those rules then^^

Hey Bama! Not many tips I can give on the tubing and towers other than what Vik's already doled out - Dave's your man for that! Nice to see you getting some multiple stories in there though, necro absolutely requires walkways, long drops and tower blocks

One tip on the green stuff - it doesn't tend to take filing or sanding well. If you try and file it after its set, you'll likely end up tearing the whole lot up, and it'll be near impossible to get a smooth finish. What tools are you using to sculpt, if you don't mind me asking? I've got a few tips that might help, but I don't want to sound patronising, so let me know if you want a hand!

Plus: You should get a mod to shift this to the P&M blog section! I keep missing it cause I don't check this forum too often, and I bet some of the other usual crowd do too!

Hey all thought I would post up what I have been working on for the past few days. Due to crappy weather I was not able to take pics until very recently like 15 min ago. (stupid rain) Sorry I did not get to show you all WIPs but this is what was done.
To keep track of my gang I use a site called yakromunda.com good place for you to keep track of gangs, campaigns, get some neat scenarios and get the rule books
. I have still yet to play a game but I have learned most of the rules for both the community edition and the living rule book.

everything can be found here for the budding munda player http://www.yakromunda.com/index.php?page=intro

there is another site i have saved in my favorites that offer up some more stuff very old and unique stuff too.
http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/other-40k-universe-games/197611-necromunda-links-all-those-hard-find-pdfs.html

and for those interested in inquisamunda i have that site saved as well. all that cool stuff can be found here
http://empireofghosts.blogspot.co.uk/p/inquisimunda-resources.html

There is a guy that I found on Yakromunda that sells female gangers and his stuff is almost identical to the GW line of products so support small business and check him out here.
http://www.shapeways.com/shops/gangwar?l=36

I hope I haven't overloaded all of yalls senses cuase i'll keep posting crazy munda stuff as long as yall keep looking and commenting.

I do hope the links that I provided will inspire you to pick up this wonderful game.

So before the pics i thought i would Post up my Gang List and again with shameless plugs to yakromunda my gang load out can be found here: http://www.yakromunda.com/gang/5191/goon-squad

Ok shameless plugs are over so now on to what you all really wanted to see and are hear for the pics!

My Leader Giger

My heavy Bolter operator Tonne

My other Heavy Shiek with Lasgun (Ran out of Cash to give him a cool gun)

Merrick with Shotgun

Jules with shot gun

Maynard with Shotgun

Riley with auto pistol, the pistol was made from a laspistol and a bolt pistol clip

Kull with Autopistol ( I know it is a las pistol still i need to find another bolt pistol clip)

and an unamed juve later to be named so far he is armed with an autopistol (his holster is on the side )

any way that is my gang. If you were wondering what I used to make them all they are is space marine scouts and catachans nothing too exciting easy conversions from catachans to gangers remove some imperial eagels paint them in jeans and off they go. I have not found a good replacement as of yet but until then I am just going to use them as is would love to have some orlock females. maybe i'll message that guy from shapeway and see what he thinks.
any way till later
bama!

They look good, Bama! It's a little hard to judge by the photos though. I really like the warning stripes on your leader's power sword, and is Shiek smoking? Great pose! Some of the GS armour seems a little thick, but they certainly look tough! I like your gun conversions too - good way to differentiate. All in all, a really characterful gang! Any backstory for them?
Your gang list looks fun too - any idea what weapon Shiek will be toting in the long run?

About green stuff - Please forgive me if any of this is stuff you've heard before, or it's patronising, but you asked, and these few things took me a while to learn, so hopefully I can help you save some time on errors! I'm not really that great with it, so there's no doubt a lot of better advice out there.

Apart from decent tools, I've found that the two most important things though are lubrication, and patience. The tips of my tools spend about half their time on the GS itself, and the other half in my mouth, or a cup of water. As long as it feels smooth when you're working, you're doing it right. If GS sticks to your tool as you're working, you'll wreck whatever you've done so far as you stretch it out of proportion. Some people suggest vaseline and the like, but I can't stand the stuff. To each their own

The second bit, patience, is also vitally important. Use really small amounts of green stuff to get the rough shape down, and then use lots of small movements to slowly smooth the GS where you want it to be, rather than big, forceful strokes. You're not pushing the GS around, you're stroking it gently until it ends up where you want it to be. Patience is also important in just giving yourself lots of time to work on something - work in layers, and give it time to cure between sessions, or you'll smush stuff you've already done. That's especially true if you're adding details, like putting pockets on trousers or the like. If I'm sculpting a jacket or something it probably take about 3 sittings to finish - work on several projects at the same time, so you've always got something going!

Final tip: These bad boys.

Cannot tell you how much decent tools - in particular these soft tipped clay shapers - will improve your sculpting. Unlike metal tools, they're naturally resistant to GS sticking to them, and you can lubricate them less often.

Hope that helps, it's a couple of small steps, but they really work. Sorry bout the text dump!

Scarp

Scarp,
the text dump is fine it was a learning thing so I do not mind. I have to look into getting some good clay shapers. I have some plastic ones i use for my air clay. I just don't know whats too much or too little green stuff that right there is one of my problems I know it takes patience and that is something that I kinda lack. But have been working on it since I have started building terrain. and it didnt sound like you were talking at me you were very informative and i even took notes!

About the gang well I am going to write some fluff it is actually going to be in this post! Actually that's just a plain chainsword with hazard stripes that was fun to paint. Shiek well he depending on how he levels and everything depends on what he gets as of right now I'd love to add a grenade launcher for him but I am not too sure. He is not smoking he is about to holler something I imagine. I thought my bolt pistol conversion was simple and effective.

Allright fluff time about the Giger leader of the Goon Squad.
Spoiler:

["Feck me!" Exclaimed Giger. This has been the worst day in his miserable existence. Giger pulled his dads plasma pistol from its holster and let loose a few volleys. This other gang was tough but not as tough as the goon squad all thorough bred underhivers that eat glass and piss vinegar. This was just like any other day except he was dodging the enforcers that were trying to apprehend him for power tapping. Then he got turned around and ended up in another gangs territory.

"Feck me runnin" he panted as he ran.

KRAK KRAK KRAK! Autogun rounds whizzed by and hit the dirt behind Giger as he ran. He spared a chance glance to take a pot shot. He juked left and took up hiding behind a support beam that was crumbling and on its side. Giger was breathing hard and heavy, he gulped down the stale air as if it were cool water. Realizing that where he was was not too far from his territory and he could use the vents to escape through them to get back to safety, but that wouldn't suffice he needed to leave a message with these bastards not to mess with the leader of the Goon Squad. As his keen mind started clicking together he was thinking tohim self. How many were chasing me? Did I lose the enforcers?
Standing static was not an option either.

Within minutes when he thought the coast was clear he tread going to the right of the beem towards a low wall he crouched and started going slowly around. He holstered his pistol and pulled out "Da Blessin", his trusty shotgun. It was ready man stopper shells were loaded into befor he left his hideout a few hours ago then he heard it, a fient click of a magazine being changed. He peaked his head over the wall slowly and in the gloom he saw the three bastards that were chasing him.

"smug feckers, thinkin dey got me inna 'ole do dey..." he said under his breath.

The pursuers were young juves trying to make good by killing Giger who happend to run blindly in after losing the cops. Being the nice guy he was he thought he would introduce himself right and proper. Check the rack of his shotgun it was laoded hey popped up quick like and took a shot.

BLAM! the shotgun roared and all that was to be seen was of the young man was a neck stump as his head exploded like a melon. His two mates were covered in gore and were shocked as they jumped one dropped his gun the other looks as if he pissed him self. They tried to turn tail and book it.

"WRONG MOVE BOYS!" Yelled Giger after them. He he started chuckling to himself at what just happend.

He couldn't give chase as that was too funny to him that some one pissed themselves. He sauntered over and picked up the auto pistol tucked it in his belt and went up the vents.

"An here I thought today was going to get worse..." Giger said smiling darkly to himself

As he started into the vent he heard chittering and screeches and it wasn't the sump rats it was something more dangerous. More alien something very primal, and hungry by nature. He looked behind him and there it stood was a genestealer.

"feck me..." is all he could say as he turned to face his enemy.

hobby wise two things are occuring.

thing one:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/455372.page
trying to trade off my dark eldar for some tau

thing two trying to finish off 20 models for my 1500 point space marine army.

I did work on terrain today but nothing exciting I painted up a tower and threw some posters on it I should post up progress tomorrow.

So hang on one more day for a real update!

thats really strange weather your having but in alabama there is only two seasons wet and hot.
on that note i don't miss snow but this is more army related than anything else.

snow and army are a drag together... i remember camping outside in the winter... with minus 30° celsious...that is really cold, mind you... one of my mates was so cold that his boots soles got loose because he got to close to the campfire... and my own mummy sleping bag got some serious burned holes too...

yea when i was in korea it got really cold too i think down to minus 15 or some such crap like that.

i never got to sleep next to the fire so i didnt miss out on too much. the one time i did i was regretting it it was freaking too hot.

funny thing i loved going to the field when i was in the army and i really didnt like garrison work, i was a military police officer when i was in.

i bet that was a tough position to work in... from what i heard no one likes MP´s very much... well we used to make fun of them... they go to hunt donw peeps that are absent without permissions here in germany... but they search for these idiots without pics of them... so you can lie outright to them that the guy is not at home even when you are really him... but eventually you get caught .... wel the german military is not really an inteligent army... at least where i had to do service...

Hey all,

So I promised an update it's not a big one but it is still an update. I completed my first tower the other day.

And like the original spot for this blog was to keep track of my fetish of marines so I am putting more of them up. It's more of my home made chapter.

Any way here is some pics.

half the squad will get the rest of the squad up later tonight or tomorrow.

tower before paint

tower after paint with some posters.

any that is all for now so lemme get back to doing something and I will check in with you all later.

Damn Bama! The Gangers are Badass!! I built my first and only ever "played" gang out of plastics like that! Excellent work man!

The tower could still use a bit of trim around the edge of the platform methinks..perhaps a strip of something U-shaped or L-shaped ideally, flat, thick cardboard even...something to give a hard edge. I think the lip it creates will give it that added depth, and also give you a stop for minis getting knocked off and broken! Never compromise playability for detail though.

nice basic scheme for the marines.... how will you base them?

and the tower looks good tho i would take daves hints to heart here!

dave
thanks for the compliments on the gang they are still unblooded for now. but i have a game or three this monday comming up with my buddy who is also getting into munda!

vik
thanks i jokingly refer to my scheme as the walmart army becuase of the colors. as to the bases well i got sand from the yard and that works ok so prolly that as it is free! ::thumbs up:: then add a wash to it to give it some depth.

as to the tower well right now thats tossed in the air. if i trim it down any more the platforms are gonna look wierd with the big tube holding it up. so i am unsure will meditate on this some.

the only thing i don't like about the dry wall tape is cutting the edges to look good when making it just random grating bits that and it frays so thats the only down side i have found with working with it.

Bama's big blog o stuff Supply Drop 6-8-2018 @ 2012/06/14 21:43:19

Post by: dsteingass

I didn't mean cut it any, just add a rim of some kind to give it a hard edge, like the grating is set into a frame of sorts.
The rim would hide the edges of the drywall tape too
Just think of it as adding a new layer of detail, you can paint it after it's glued on.

ah well i think i could swing that. i just have to cut a really thin piece. like i said i will give it more thought tomorrow as those marines kicked my ass and made me wanna scream and they still didnt come out good /sigh/

i know i can do better and that pisses me off now i member why i put them down and picked up munda.

oh dave i ment to ask what do you think about my skin tone?

I agree w/ Dave, the platform needs an edge of some sort. Otherwise it's wicked decent and I really like seeing someone using drywall mesh tape! It really changed how I do grating / diamond plate effects and I can't recommend it enough to anyone that builds terrain!!

skalk i agree it is a good materail to use. i think in my previous post i said the only problem i have with it is the fraying when you cut it and trying to make it look even. i know its the underhive but i want even grating for the troops to move around on.

I use a razor blade and a metal T-square when I have to cut to size. I've also wrapped it around the edges of whatever I'm working on and used super glue to keep it down.

so not update time but in other hobby related news i got a pretty sweet deal for my dark eldar crap. itraded all of it for tau crap. hooray blue fish!

this is what i got.

Tau Crisis Suit Commander x2 NIB
Broadside x2 NIB
Broadside x3 Assembled
Kroot x32 NIB

Sniper Drone x3 NIB
Sniper Drone x6 Assembled
Crisis Suits x6 Assembled
Kroot Hounds x14 (2 primed black)
Tau Etherial x2 Assembled
Kroot Shaper x3 Assembled 1 missing arm

strangely enough i did not get any fire warriors. and with all those kroot i think im making either an inquisimunda gang or an outlaw kroot gang with them. haven't really decided oh and if yall want to chime in on how to build a tau list i started a thread too.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/455671.page

just in case any people that read my thread play tau and know anything about them.

shas o 146
burst cannon, plasma rifle, hw black sun filter, hw drone controller, hw multi-tracker, hw target lock, targeting array shield drone x2

elites

crisis suit 87
missile pod, plasma rifle drone controller
shield drone
troop
fire warriors x 6 60

Kroot x10 124
kroot hounds x9

Heavy

that's the tentative 500 point list for now.

the only things that need purchasing or traded for are a few devil fishes and maybe a box or two of fire warriors.

yea six crisis suits aint nothing to sneeze, neither is the five braodsides. I did not expect to get a butt load of kroot.
and i am not too thrilled with the gun drones (those are being modded to shield drones)
the ethereal will be nice to paint (im not going to use them)

so far the 500 point list is looking as such:

shas el 111
burst cannon, plasma rifle, hw black sun filter, hw drone controller, hw multi-tracker, targeting array shield drone

elites

crisis suit 62
missile pod, plasma rifle,multi-tracker

crisis suit 42

Kroot x10 130
kroot hounds x10

eh i like mech suits alot and i wasnt having any fun with the dark eldar tbh. again im not the worlds greatest genreral but i do try my best. and i always wanted a xenos army so i been picking through them slowly started with orks wanted a green tide tehn i realized i would want to paint five billion boys, then it went to eldar and i dont like elves i had no idea what notion that took me into, then it was the dark eldar evil space elves are cool in my book but it wasn't fun.

so all thats left to try is daemons, nids, and tau. (then the rest of the impierium DA, SW, IG, SOB, IG, GK)

and im not a fan of daemons, and bugs are cool but im not sure if i want to run them so praying tau are it.

Greeting all!

So this being my 1000th post I have no idea how to celebrate but I did do so more space marine stuff I was working on a landspeeder. It is done now but at the time it wasn't.

Oh, I played my first real necromunda game last night using the community edition rules and it went well.

MVP goes to Tonne my heavy bolter guy he out right killied a guy! Very exciting stuff.

Here is my gang as of right now: http://www.yakromunda.com/gang/5191/goon-squad

And my buddies gang he is playing spyers: http://www.yakromunda.com/gang/5274/nonpartisan

It was tough, two gang fights and the matriarch showed up and killed my ratskin scout. >.<

It was a very enjoyable evening.

I even talked his girlfriend into playing she is playing with us next month when i get my gang of delaques! I am uploading the picks of the speeder forgot to take pics of the rest of the squad of my space marines.

On the terrain front I need to make some more so it isn't a turkey shoot in game.

In the works for terrain is more towers and walk ways going to build some more low walls for and mushroom caps as site blocking terrain I am still going to buy the diorama sst i saw on a model site to add more crap to the board.

So next update I will do take pics of the other half of the squad and show the WIPS of the third squad of my space marine army and what i have done for terrain.

That is the atentive plan for right now. On sat I also have my final game of 5th ed warhammer looking forward to sixth too.

Sorry about the wall of text I just had to say a lot to say.

Depending on how well the delaque gang is painted up i might leave them as is.

any way on to the pictures.

here is the base coat of the landspeeder

a gakky land speeder wip shot

final wip of the sandspeeder with some paint scrapes cuase it flys around so fast.

any way i hope you enjoyed looking as much as i enjoy posting.

happy 1000th post to me!

I think it's a cool idea to record actual kills, it gives gangers a proper reputation. Yakro has a column for kills but it actually just records wounding hits, which frankly is too much of a hassle to enter every game. What we do in my campaign is only use the Battles page on Yakro to record who wins and who gets a kill.

Necromunda was and is very popular. I think GW abandoned it just because they couldn't sell huge armies for it. I really need to play a game or campaign, it's been waaay too long for me.

Hey all so i bet you have been wondering what I am up to? hobby wise waiting on my package of tau.

In the middle of a huge 4k a side game 2k salamanders and blood angels vs 4k of orks as a last hurrah of 5th ed. needless today we are at the bottom of three and the emperors finest are getting there asses handed to them. the blood angels have about 9 death company, chaplain, an immobilized dread, and a sang priest thats about to die and the salamanders have landraider redeemer and two combat squads, and a razor back. on the orks side there is two half depleted squads of boyz a looted wagon one beat up nob squad and a fully unhurt nob squad and some mega nobs. It is looking really grim for the emperors finest. but we do hold two objectives right now so woo.

On another note I entered a tournament for 6th ed. It is 2k points and is on july 14th. now my question to every one is what do i take? my new box of tau, blood angels, space marines or my boxed up chaos marines. I would like to win but it isn't a big priority. and if i was basing this completely off of "newest codex" that i have it would be blood angels.

So pros and cons of each army.

Blood Angels.
Pros
this army is doa
its fast everything can move around 12 or more inches
can field the deadly death company
"newest codex" that i own.
Cons:
not painted
lot of close range antimech
hardly any teq killiing ability.
do not own any special characters

Space Marines
Pros
its painted
has a little of everything to handle most situations
First army I ever bought
Cons
would have to buy more models to fill its ranks out (in its current state i can push out 1750)
i don't own any special characters (so no cool rules)
ran them at the first tournament i ever went too came in second to last place (my army was painted other guy wasn't)

Chaos Space Marines:
Pros
its painted (albeit kinda sucky)
lots of awesome models
two special characters (abaddon and lucis the eternal)
even have a greater daemon
Cons
Ran them at another local tournament (and placed a bit higher)
not very consistent
one daemon prince
lacks transports
only 5 home made obliterators.
not enough cult troops
no regular chaos marines >.>
no lesser daemons to camp on objectives

Tau:
it is painted
rail guns nuff said
jump shoot jump
marker lights
no need for named characters
Cons
Not my paint job
high learning curve
not good at close combat (i have two cc armies this will be my first shooty army)

well that's the pros and cons that i can think of.

again sorry for a wall of text just thinking out loud again and this is my favorite place to do it. any way would love to hear what you guys think. and no i cant just go buy a new army.

any way thanks for reading my rambelings i'll actually post a real update tomorrow most likely.

Long answer: play with whatever you like the style of the most, and whatever you have painted. I don't play 40k but I can't understand people that play with models that aren't painted, or that play with an army they don't like just because it is stronger.

Short answer: play Chaos, everything else is for girls.

Hey all how goes it?
over here not so bad sun is out the waether is good for pic taking. I got my box of tau in. life is good.

so first things first.

I shall run the Chaos Marines and reek a terrible war on those who stand in my way. So thats settled.

now about todays update first off a shot of all the new toys i got.

thats every thing excluding the metric ton of drones i have and one crisis suit who i think is farsight if im not mistaken...

and here is a fire warrior that I did as a test paint. only reason he is the test paint is becuase his arm went awol.

cool now that the normal 40k stuff is out of the way time for the juicy good stuff.

Inquisimunda!
i got a few of my friends interested in playing so we can actually get a campaign going. thanks to two awesome people Vitruvian XVII and HF Izanagi and there awesome thread :http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/455099.page
they inspired me to make my own campaign. and with wise insight to how it works i hope to make something really spectacular.

me and my friends are going to meet up next monday to start discussing how the what might need house ruled in what gangs they want things like that and maybe squeeze in a game or three.

So first up is Ch'kall my kroot trooper
Spoiler:

Ch'kall is rightly feared as a marks man and volunteered for the mission to go to Han'no or as the imperium knows it Procton's Gate. Ch'kall has fought many campaigns and what drove him to colunteer is that his kindred was all but killed by chaos marines during a particularly nasty engagement. His deep seeded hatred for Chaos marines is only fueled by the fact Han'no has been invaded by The Delivers of the Pure word. The very war host that killed his kindred.

And here is Shas'ie Yan'Var

here is a wip of him.

so that's what has been up today If all goes well I should be able to update the rest of the war band. and provide more fluff and history and things like that to make it more interesting.

anyway i hope you enjoyed my little presentation.

thanks for looking

So second update of the day. I have been very busy. Mostly working on a story for the campaign. I also finished my Tau strike force very cool. and I will show you pictures when in a minute.

So I have the story in my head but i need to flesh it out some before I present it to the dakka community.

But first the Tau Stike Force BURNING DAWN.

here is a group shot of them sorry it is not on terrain or looking in a cool place but again with the sun shining it was good enough.

Spoiler:

Shas'vre Elrie
Dedicated to the grater good, cool under fire, and an excellent shot top his class in the academy. He has seen countless battles in his life tim and is regarded as a hero of a few conflicts. When chaos invaded the planet of Han'no it was Elrie who first volunteered himself to rid the world of the Graxin, as this was his next trail by fire to be elevated to the to one of the positions in academia. Where his battle knowledge can shape the future generation of fire warriors.

Pathfinder Onn
During the compliance of the imperial world Proctor's Gate. Pathfinder Onn team was the most dangerous. Having comfirmed some twenty kills of the Ecclesiastes that were most influential to Proctor's Gate. When the planet was annexed as into the Tau Empire as Han'no his team was instrumental in eradicating the resistance cells that were popping up. When chaos reared its ugly head he volunteered him self and his trusted rail rifle to the cuase of eliminating Graxin the Pure.

Shas'ie Yan'Var

Shas"ie Yan'Var comes from a long lined of distingiushed fire warrior stealth suit pilots. Volunteering for the Mission to Han'no was not a difficult decision for him to make his home sept is a mere 600 light years away from it. So for honor, glory, and the greater good he volunteered for this mission. He is ready to lay down supressing fire with his burst cannon and gather intelligence on the enemy to learn to combat them more effectively so he may rise up to become a famed crisis suit pilot.

Shas'saal Gwe
This is first combat for the greater good he has recently graduated the academy and looks to prove him self. He volunteered for the suicidal mission in hope of proving his Uncle Elrie. His best mate from the academy has also joined him in this fool hardy quest.

Shaas'saal Ymre
Another fresh out of the academy and into the jaws of hell following his best friend Gwe into the dragons den, not for glory or for fool hardy heroics but to see his best friend home after the conflict and maybe proving tohimself that he is not a coward. And actually a decent shot.

well thats all for now hope fully I will be able to put more up later this week. when i have something substantial.

any way hope you enjoyed looking and hope you enjoyed the small blurbs about my war band.

later
Bama

intersting scheme bama...tho a bit dark... but i think that is the point... but i dunno why the Shas'ie Yan'Var stabds out so much with his painting scheme against the others? but the lot looks very good nevertheless!

the only nitpcik i have is the names on the bases.... there you were a bit too careless... the writing should/ could have been better....sorry mate

if your only complaint is my hand writing i think im doing some thing awesome. well when i get more of the story updated they the dark scheme will make more sense but i really fell in love with the old goblin green and had nothing to use it on then i was playing Dawn of War retribution playing with the army painter and i was on my tau commander and i was and it hit me like a brick so i figured i should throw it on there.

i think the reason Yan'Var stands out is cuase he started off white then went to a light shade of grey then lots of purple wash personally i think that is one of the coolest wash jobs i have done in a long time.

thanks for looking. tomorrow should be terrain.

i am totally with you on all acounts... and yes... i can only complain about yon handwriting...and that is something i shouldn´t even doing as mine is also crappy^^

and didn´t see that this yan´var was made by multitude of layers of washes... now i took a closer look and i raise both thumbs good art^^

and i see your point... i have lots of paints i never had the chance of using... i have this totally ace looking blue metal color but absolutly no use for it... sometimes that can drive you totally nuts...

Hey, thanks for the mention and glad to see you taking the first step forward to immortality! Necro is a great game, and made without the restraints of simply being gangs (represented by other 40K-world minis), the potential for awesome goes up exponentially!

I'm digging the troopers too- The marksman in brown/red is also pretty friggin' fly. Good luck, I'm excited to see how your campaign turns out!

Remi,
hey glad yous topped by and had a look. that makes my day when people comment on how they like a certain model. I do have to say that doing the kroot so far has been my favorite one today. he actually started life as a test model.

Like i like saying i consider my self a painter before a converter but I really like trying to flex those particular muscles.

So what have i been working on. Terrain is the simple answer remember the mushroom forest platform that i built about page 8? well I got up and painted it and added some more of the lovely posters to it. thats another piece done. all that needs to be done out of my original pieces is a walkway that im really reconsidering redoing. a lonley one level tower and a grey building that has a ladder up it that i have no idea what it is.

But I got one!

if i was to run my tau as a gang in regular munda i would have to say they would be van saars. (techno and all)

also was looking at a landing pad might try and build one or purchase it if im feeling particularly lazy. (wich i am right now)

and if i dont turn the cardboard i have in to a landing pad a squat factory will be in the works instead im liking that idea a little more.

well I'll update with pictures later when i feel i made enough progress.
till then,
bama

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I finally got to a point where I was happy with the terrain. And took some pics I know this isn't big or really well done but it is the best I can do. If you recall I was working on some terrain for necromunda not wanting to get another project started I thought I would finish up my terrain I started.

It has been staring at me for a few weeks now.

So less of my talking and more pictures.

my necro/=][= board as of today.

some graffiti i did to give my board more atmosphere.

this is what lines the other side of the "faith wall"

Any one that remembers me building this? well i finally got some paint on not too shappy if i say so myself

here is the other side of it

and for fun a really big mushroom cap that makes great cover and blocks line of sight too.

well that's all for now. being up since seven doing this is very unhealthy had to have waaay too much coffee to comeplete what i did so im gonna relax and paint up a tau or six.

thanks for looking
