Wow, just wow. The amount of painted minis (I spot a lot of stuff from forgeworld, some not even available anymore I think) is impressive. It makes my small IG force look like I haven't even worked on them xD

Cheers guys. Yes there are a couple of FW pieces on there and they do feature in my army. Most of that with the exception of the Planes, powerlifter, gun emplacement and square fuel is scratched or converted. The Tents and container units are by me, as is the HESCO stuff etc. You can see how a lot of the scenery is made here...
http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7426716/1/
The air mobile control tower and the commaand vehicle featured on our Crazy 88 gamesday table a few years back.
This years gamesday board is based on a necron ship. Seen here, a Drogan retrieval unit, set to feature on the board amoung work by others of the AB.
And these are my winter Drogans, yet to find their way into the Codex.

Wow, these are exquisitely done; definitely looks like a highly-trained specialist force.
The tents look fantastic, as do the vehicle conversions. The scratch-builds in particular; sometimes scratchbuilds or conversions from other models don't seem properly 40K, but you nailed the aesthetic perfectly.

Cheers guys. Glad you like it. One thing I really think helps to motivate ANY modeller / army builder is to write your own fluff and try to "live" within it. If you can then theme your scenery and conversions to suit, even better. If you checked my link, you'll notice for me, it's very important to try and maximise the number of poses available from the infantry. I HATE having two figures with the same pose. What that did as well, was to give me time to develop them. If I was a speed painter or just interested in hitting the table with a quick army, I wouldn't obviously get so involved.
To be fair, I did get a lot of help with the writing and dtp of the Codex from my mate Doghouse who helped me develop a lot of the fluff around my core ideas. I do write a few short stories for them (some of which appear) and some do now need incorporating, including stuff for the 23rd Voltigeurs (winterised).

Just wow! I'd be here forever if I went through everything I like but your table looks amazing and I love the commando knifing the ork.
One question though... what did you use for shells on the FW earthshaker emplacement diorama? I've been looking all over for something suitable and in plentiful supply! (are they real life .22LR cases perchance?)

It's the cap on the Catachan / Cadian command sprue (not sure which but has a radio unit at it's side and a visor under. This is spliced to the top of a FW respirator head.

Hi Guys,
First post here from me ( lurk every once in a while) but since my Cadian battlegroup are often to be found allied to the mighty Drogan war machine, and the odd question has been asked about some of my contribution Digits has asked me to respond.
The earthshaker or to be precise, Airshaker is mine, there are actually 3 of them now, I've built a couple more. The Shells? well the unfired ones are part of the FW gun emplacement. The ones being loaded are the mortar rounds from the old metal IG range, cadians in this case and the spent cases are plastic tube.
A few other pieces of mine here are the command tent and some of the vehicles, the 3 coloured green, brown, black and the recovery vehicle notably.
Any other question please feel free to ask But since i'm here now I'll start my own thread to show off some of the stuff here rather than hijack Digit's

As to what I'd like to see, anything really, closer shots of units and vehicles if possible. Some of those tanks look super detailed with stowage and the like, would be happy to gaze at some closer shots.

Here's a vehicle I designed and cast up called BOAR. I've not got round to painting my own yet but I gave this one to my buddy Ash, who set about adding a few of his own details, including the mesh cage. Now, this boy CAN paint!
I have three on the paint table with canvas backs which will act as gun tractors, one with a quad autocanon for close anti aircraft support and other variants such as flat beds and even rocket launchers. I will post them up when done (though my painting isn't as good!)
Do go check his stuff out though, simply the best afv painter I know!

Then thank you. Pretty simple. Paint on a few chips, then I use firstly dry dark brown weathering powder on say the bottom inch of the tank. I then apply a danrk sand over that to say inch and a half. All I do then is furiously scrub it off with a flat headed hard bristled brush. The weathering powder stage therfore takes only 3 - 4 minutes a tank!

This is far and away the absolute end-all greatest and coolest thing I have ever seen on Dakka (and there are quite a number of great and cool things on Dakka)
I just spent 20 minutes reading everything. I am a total fluff junkie, especially when it comes to home brewed armies. I love coming up with stories for my little plastic soldiers. I love nitty-gritty logistical details like the army organization chart you posted in your codex.
Thank you so much for posting this. I would love to be your campaign manager if you ever decide to run for President of the World, NAY! the Universe!
48870
Post by: Digits
Blimey!!!!! If I run for President, I'll be sure to appoint you to my staff!!!!!
Thanks guys. As I stated earlier, I'm lucky to have a cool buddy Doghouse who did most of the fluff work for me based on some loose ideas we kicked around between us and a few bits I did like the force org chart and a few stories.
The principal reason for doing the fluff, is that it gives me much more afinity with the models I produce. It helps me to chanel where I take them next and gives a reason for some of the odd ball stuff I want to do. I will be doing a lot of work on an update soon to include the 23rd (winter guys) and camp Tal stuff so watch this space.......

Post by: Digits
Sorry, not bashing tourneys. Just meant I like to play with like minded friends where if we want to interpret a rule one way, noone will mind and where we can field rule of cool rather than restrict ourselves to Codex. I also prefer to play on a table with character and where effort has been put into the appearance. Makes for a more enjoyable game in my opinion.

You sir, are awesome. If it weren't so fething late at night I would go through the whole thread... But for now, some words of appraise will do.
Also, your personal army-codex is now listed amongst the most awesome gak I've seen. I'm so going to do one for my Necrons too! ... That is, when I've done some serious battling with them, recorded battles and outcomes, had them for some more years, painted hordes of them... But I will do one, because having one like you do... It's simply... I don't even have words for it.

Where are the packs from?
How did you make the trucks, specifically the treads? Was it from a stash of the old wheels and treads from the old IG tanks?

Question for you, or anyone - those green horizontal half-cylinder buildings in the marine encampment on the first page - what are they called? I have a feeling there is a specific name for them, but can't think of it...

There are some being put on the boards in my Camp Talvenus thread. I've build gates for them too.

Wow, super nice work. You are super pro, do you have a website for terrain sales?
I have a couple of ideas. I have lived in combat zones for almost 4 years now. The T Walls take a lot of damage; brakes on the edges, large cracks, and even if a rocket hits 50 feet awake they still show large crater like gashes. Usually Contractors pack these spots up and paint small labels on them too. Just an idea. Another idea is water. Every military insulation has water pallets, a large water reserve, like 10 ft tall drums, and a water tower. They do the same for fuel points, for vehicles, helo pads, and air strips.
On my terrain I took a travel sized Pringals can and put it on wooden legs. I then made another one that I punched a small hole in the bottom and a large break across the top. Looking at the exploding pallets, this would be a great idea for a rocket taking out a tower.
Love your work though, keep it up and maybe link a how to video for the explosions.
48870
Post by: Digits
Cheers fella! Very kind of you. I'll certainly look into the water storage idea if I can find pics.
Don't have a video but the following link is my thread on AB which shows a lot of the camp stuff being made - the explosion is at the end.
