Hey! Reaper is making models again! Real models! From metal! @ 2013/10/05 03:13:48

Post by: Kid_Kyoto

it seems like FOREVER since I last did one of these, not since Reaper jumped into kickstarter and started making all their minis out of crushed calcium or something...

And even now I'm cheating a little, looking at their previews section.

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews

Pre-views?

Oh right, y'see kids, sometimes a mini company actually tells you, in advance, what they will be releasing, I know this idea is strange but bear with me.

Now on with the show, here's what Reaper has for us in November!

Roweena is another great 19th Century Steampunk Heroine, armed with some sort of electro-contraption.
She can also serve as a 21st Century Steampunk cosplayer, armed with some sort of replica electro-contraption.

Vermina is your go-to model if you need a steampunk heroine with magical powers to control rats!
She can also be used as a steampunk villainess with magic powers to control mice!
In a pinch she could serve as a steampunk adventurer with several trained gerbils, but that would take some green stuff work.

This is Mr Grimm.

But he looks so happy.

It must be that 'irony' you kids today are so fond of.

Dr Klaus is another one who can serve several purposes such as a crazy doctor who experiments on people.
Or a mad scientist, who experiments on people.
Or perhaps an insane psychatrist who experiments on people.

The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

And here's the 9th Doctor. Or is he now the 10th? I lose track. Anyway I didn't know Reaper even had that license. Congrats Reaper!

Very tempted to paint one up to put in Mrs. Kyoto's chair.
Very tempted.

Hans is from a post-apocolyptic future where Nautilus machines and grooming products are still common but unripped clothes are unobtainable.

I have nothing cynical to say about this.
In fact I need one.
In fact I need two, one for Kyoto Secundus and one for her sister Kyoto Secundus Prime.

This man has binders full of genies.
Trust me.
That joke was hysterical about 12 months ago.

Man that Wyvern acts like he has a pole shoved up his... oh. Never mind then.

If you'd like I can glue a Space Marine backpack to him and charge you $30.

I have no idea who this flamboyant young man is but he's just so happy.
I mean look at him.
That is the face of a man who just loves life.

Witch of the Dark Moors

Remember when witches were ugly hags?
Thankfully Reaper does not.
Hey, is Dark Moor a racial pun?

Reminder - You must use this model as a Barrow Warden Lord, any attempt to use him a simple Barrow Warden, Wight, a Wraith, a Specter, a Lich or a Death Knight will not be considered WYSIWYG.

I'm sure that somewhere there is a dungeon master who has waited 30 years to use the Iron Cobra from the old Fiend Folio but just didn't have the right model.
And somewhere I hope that man is happy.
He can also serve a familiar for your Iron Snake Space Marine Librarian.

(whew made it through that without making a dick joke)

AT LAST! People who play a half elf female monk finally have a model!
I imagine Reaper will sell as many as 2 or even 3 of these!
Maybe 5 if DMs allow them to pass as full-elf female monks.

So there we are, the triumphant return of Reaper to the world of metal.

Play us out Manowar.

Th flamboyant guy looks like he could be a Werner Klocke. Cool!

The Vermina could be a great female version of Hamelin in Malifaux.

Derek Schubert actually - started out as a painter for them and has moved into sculpting as well.

The actual preview page has a couple others that he had skipped over, and they also list all their sculptors on the page.

I'll be damned. Definitely has some similarities to Klocke in the facial anatomy. I like it! Has he done others?

These threads are always entertaining. And it's refreshing to see some new minis that will be available in a few weeks as opposed to 14 months from now.

What do people think of the not-Dr. Who? I'm not the greatest judge. Pretty accurate/recognizable?

Maybe you've upped your miniature related banter game or maybe I'm just less of a miserable gak than I used to be, but I enjoyed this return.
Go now, filled with the vim and vigor that can only come from knowing some guy on the Internet approves of something you did.

The ones that don't say "sculpted by" I'm assuming are ones he's painted. The rest aren't as Klocke-ish looking. At least the ones I looked through.

It's a vegan wyvern, way too much fiber in its diet. It needs more hobbits.

Most Weird West is steampunk with a side of gunslinger. I know Rail Wars and the subsequent RPG were. It doesnt have the European Victorian period setting, but same-same in terms of psuedo-technology.

With that said, there are a couple of Savage Worlds rule sets which have trimmed away the RPG to create a pretty solid skirmish game. Not too hard either when you consider that the RPG rules were built on the previous skirmish rules.

Actually, my horticultural encyclopedia names it a "Wyverchid", a rare form of orchid pollinated by wyverns. The apparent "wyver with a log up his cloaca" is actually the flower, evolved to look like a female wyvern ripe for mating. The male wyvern flies down, rubs around awkwardly while accumulating pollen, then flies off while his friends make fun of him. Subsequently the next wyverchid is pollinated by his now more aggressive, "I'll show them!" need to reproduce.

And thus the great circle of life continues.

Had almost forgotten about this...

http://www.talespinnerminis.com/index.php?id=18

He sculpted the wyvern and iron cobra as well as a previous special release figure for Reaper. There are more pictures of all of them on his site.

The tree trunk still looks odd from most angles, but it looks like using a different object should be pretty easy to avoid the "Wyvern...on a stick" situation.

Hey! Reaper is making models again! Real models! From metal! @ 2013/10/06 01:19:11

Post by: Azazelx

That Wyvern would probably work well in the Bones material. Since it'd be easy to remove the tree trunk and mount it on some wire or some kind of flight stand. (Which the weight of metal would make problematic).

Thank you all for the kind words, as some pointed out I did leave out a few, mostly because I had nothing to say. But since when did that stop anyone on the internet?

Here we see another classic D&D monster, IIRC this is called a Hook Horror.

Not only can Grimm Grayrune serve as a dwarf priest in your campaign, he can also serve as a human priest who lost his shins in a tragic threshing accident.

No known relation with Mr Grimm.

Brett here can serve as a homosexual cowboy wearing chaps and sporting a pron mustache, or as a heterosexual cowboy who happens to be wearing chaps and have a porn mustache.

Max here is one of the most versitile miniatures around. He can be a private eye looking for a dame, or a gumshoe hunting for a doll, or even a flatfoot seeking a broad.

With some conversion work he can also be a flasher.

For aeons the Merciful Matriarchy of Martial arts Monks (Medeo-Elf Chapter) has recruited half-elven women from the thousands of abandoned children found on the border between the Elven Woods and the Human Lands. These girls, products of the unions between lusty wood elves and naive farm boys and farm girls are alas too plentiful. Male half elves are generally raised by the Benevolent Brotherhood of Boisterous Bards (Bastard-Elf Chapter).

There's a couple references in the Rippers setting* that tie it to the Deadlands setting, but they may be intended more as easter eggs than canon ties. I believe there's a character with what appears to be a gatling pistol (an iconic weapon of the Deadlands local equivalent of the Men in Black) and maybe a couple others...

* Rippers is victorian-ish horror with the hook that the 'good guys' have learned to extarct and graft bits from the monsters to upgrade heros, albeit at a price.

In my experience, weird west tends to not be as slick or fancy as a more Victorian edged steampunk.

Reaper just launched their "12 days of Reaper" promotion with a different free model each day for orders over $35. So if you've been coveting some of the models in this thread it's the time to buy!

The elves have been busy. Welcome to the 12 Days of Reaper!

The promotion runs from 12-6 through 12-17. During this time, anyone who places a consumer order for $35 or more through the website will receive the free miniature of the day. Behold:

Dec 6: 01526 Madame Gorgonzola, 2013 Convention Mousling by Gene Van Horne
Dec 7: 01523 Reaper Con 2013 Ringmaster Sophie by Derek Schubert
Dec 8: 03543 Santa Mousling by Gene Van Horne
Dec 9: 01504 Reaper Con 2007 Sci-Fi Sophie by Werner Klocke
Dec 10: 01402 Magnus, Wizard of Hope by Werner Klocke
Dec 11: 01503 Reaper Con 2006 Bourbon Street Sophie by Bob Ridolfi

Dec 16: 01405 Christmas 2001 Sophie by Werner Klocke
Dec 17: 01501 Reaper Con 2004 Sophie by Gael Goumon

If you don't know what each of these guys look like, just glance up at the website header for that day.

In addition, orders over $65 will receive a Mr. Bones Holiday Stocking while supplies last. I don't have a picture handy, but these suckers have a random assortment of 10+ Bones miniatures stuffed inside them. Impressive.

We're also re-releasing Jason Wiebe's Santa Dwarf miniature. This Special Edition miniature will only be available during our 12 Days of Reaper promotion. On December 17, Santa Dwarf will fly back to his Toy Shoppe/Brewery and will not return again until next year. 01525 Santa Dwarf is $10.

Happy Holidays!

First up we have one of the truly iconic monsters of Dungeons and Dragons, one of those creatures that is made and remade time and again but never gets old. Something that every Dungeon Master is going to want in his cabinet to whip out at the dramatic moment...

I refer of course to the Peryton. With 4 hit dice and +2 to hit with their horns they have laid many a party low.

And yes, I did take my Monster Manual II off the shelf just to make that joke.
Then I put it back because obviously a monster as iconic as the Peryton is in the Monster Manual I.

Reaper also included a more obscure monster

I believe it's called a 'Owl Bear'.

These two can not only serve as some sort of horrid cannibal troll things, they can with a bit of minimal conversion, serve as typical gamers relaxing with cheetos.

This one goes well with them, serving as a water elemental for a fantasy game, or an unending tide of Mountain Dew for gamers.

Over several years Reaper has put out a Nativity set, this year they add a donkey. he can also serve as Bill the Pony in your off-brand LotR Games.

Who'm I kidding.

No one plays Lord of the Rings.

My favorite models are those that tell a story, like this guy.

Why doesn't his sword have a hilt? Why? Is he just holding the blade for some odd reason? Doesn't that hurt?

We may never know.

Similarly this character raises so many questions like how the heck does he draw that sword? And why does he have the BP logo on his chest?

Or this one. What is up with her hat? Is she juggling? And is she some sort of orc?
So many questions...

From time to time Reaper is criticized for the skimpy costumes their sculptors put female characters in.

So I guess this is fair play?

I find his low rise pants and bare midriff strangely alluring. I can't look away.

And then there's this guy wearing nothing but a leather apron and sweat.

here we see a Arcanamirim sorceress using the incredible powers at her command to uh... add some pretty flowers to her staff.

No real joke here. I just want to point out GW has been making Orcs riding boars for 20, 30 years now, and not one of them look as good as this model.

Finally we have these guys from the Deadlands Noir line

I'd make a joke but something's wrong with my monitor, he's only showing up in black and white.

Here we have Grifter, apparently in his previously unseen New 52 costume.

The Occult Detective model can be used for so many other things besides such as a Mystic Investigator, an Eldritch Private Eye or even a Paranormal Gumshoe. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Y'know when Reaper promised a model with Marti Gras beads... this really is not what I was expecting.

And we finish with a Femme Fatal who can also be used for a Dangerous Doll, a Lethal Lady or a Risky Wench. Bravo to Reaper for putting out a model with so, so many uses!

As I look at him, his body and arms are pretty proportionate for a lightly built guy. He just has bulky shoulderpad/glove combo on the right. The real problem is he has a bit of a bobble head thing going on... That face is freakishly large. Try using your thumb to cover his face and look at the body...

Another month and MOAR PREVIEWS!

Yay!

I am very disturbed by this figure, supposedly of an Elf Wizard. No boob window? No exposed midriff? No scandously short skirt?

Is this the Reaper I have known and loved all these years?

Guys what happened?

I retract my earlier comments.

It's even funnier because both of these are winners of the design your own mini promotion!

This is another cool one from the same promotion. Sensible looking armor, sensible looking helmet, maybe a few too many weapons, but overall a really solid female warrior.

And this one. Y'know 3 out of 4 are fully clothed, maybe there is a market for sensibly dressed female characters?

But... what exactly is she holding? Is that some guy's spine? Cause that would be totally hardcore.

The more I look at this guy the more I ask... what's up wtih his face? I mean really? Is that a bandana mask or something? And is he missing part of his right hip?

And what does all of this have to do with air piracy?

It just raises so many questions.

And finally we have a Blood Nebula Mercenary. Aren't nebulas like light years across? How much blood would it take to make a nebula of blood? A lot right? I mean even Khorne would be all like "that's an excessive amount of blood". And then he'd kill you. And drink the blood nebula.

So this guy has his work cut out for him.

So is the Bikini mage coincidentally half ape, or was "Butterface" a specific design element of the Design Your Own Mini contest? I like the sensibly clothed mage. Dungeons are full of caustic sprays and deadly things which catch hold of loose clothing. I can't remember who came up with it, but essentially you should be dressed for running through a briar patch and cooking greasy bacon. Aside from the cape (Incredibles had it right. no CAPES!), she passes.

Girl Thor looks like she stepped out of an Errol Otus drawing

I would have guessesd clipping coupons for magical supplies-- eye of newt, wart of witch, etc... but your suggestion is good too.

Errol Otus was the worst artist TSR had. Looks like he was having fun with the zip-a-tone though , in that final picture. Lol.

These Reaper releases are not the P-65 stuff though. September, that is when it is coming? I'm curious about it.

It's been a little while but there's some good news!

Reaper is apparently doing the minis for a new game called Numenera

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numenera

a science fantasy game set not 20,000 years, not 40,000 years, not 600,000 years, but ONE @#$%ing BILLION YEARS FROM NOW!

Take that you pansy waisted science fantasy games!

And what do they look like?

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews

OK generic beast man guy, competent but mind not exactly blown here

Mutant alien dude, again fine enough, but not really making me reach me for my wallet

Mysterious cloak dude, that's a plus, love me some mysterious cloak dudes.

A guy, with 2 swords... not looking good here

Ooo, glowy hand dude, it's probably more the paint job that sells it but he's a winner.

Hey it's Rogue from the X-men!

A sensibly dressed female? no boob window? no spandex? no scandelously short skirt? no fetish bondage gear? Is this really a science fiction game?

And finally a robed Arabic dude wielding a weaponized sea shell. He's actually a taker for me just to add to my Tallarn army.

So I see potential here, and a few figs I might buy, but I'm not in love yet.

And finally 2 others from their other lines

An Armadillion, in fact Skraw the Last, Armadillion. So those of you whose Gamma World campaigns have been on hold for lack of a good mutant cyborg armadillo warrior your prayers are answered. He also works for After the Bomb and Palladium's Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtle game! So they should sell as many as three of these!

And last but not least

A toad demon!
He can also serve as a frog demon with a bit of green stuff work.
The possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

ANd we're back with some new releases!

Yay!

First off we have a model I've waited ages for, and plan to get as a gift for Mrs. Kyoto

Now I just need to pick up a second baby to represent Kyoto Secundus' clone sister Kyoto Secundus Prime.

Next we have a model that can not only serve as a Dwarf Cleric, but also as a human cleric whose walking on his knees like the old Tim Conway Dorf on Golf sketches. Remember those? They were kind of vaguely amusing.

And then we have um...

A female half ork jester?

I remember Jesters from an old Dragon Magazine, they were an optional class and had the unique power of being able to control a Wand of Wonder. So I guess if anyone has that old Dragon, and wants to play a female half orc, they're in business.

I seriously do not understand how Reaper decides what to sculpt sometimes...

And then there's the Cleric of Rovagug

Rovagug I assume is the Chaos God of Absurdly Oversized and Impractical Weapons, which makes him one of the most powerful chaos gods around.

This next figure is a man of mystery.

Like, why does he have his grocery receipts tied to his wrists? And how does he draw that sword of his? Does he like have an acolyte standing behind him who draws it and hands it back to him? Does he use it to cut off the grocery receipts?

So many mysteries.

Next up, 2 zombies

They can also be used as Juju Zombies from the Monster Manual 2, or even Pseudo Zombies if you wish.

Hans survived the apocalypse in his bunker filled with nothing but ragged shirts, nautilus machines and hair care products.

Jane is officially a Victorian adventuress (is Tarzan in the public domain?) but can also serve as a post apocalyptic girlfriend for Hans who survived in her cosplay bunker.

The pack donkey is a very useful model for anything from medieval times to the post apocalypse (perhaps to transport Hans' tubes of mousse). In a pinch he can also serve as a pack mule or even a pack pony. With a bit of conversion he can become a pack unicorn. Really the only limit is your imagination.

It would be easy to mock the next figure

And darnit, I have some professional pride. I'll let someone else mention his strangely alluring midriff and tight low riding pants.

Am I blue?
You'd be too.
Ain't these tears in my eyes telling you?
Was I gay?
Till today?
Now she's gone and we're through
Am I blue?

And finally we have another new model, on I don't think we saw in previews. It's a biggy and looks just like he flew out of the old Monster Manual.

Yes, a displacer beast!

A brass displacer beast if I remember correctly.

So there you go, these models and about a bazzillion more are available at www.reapermini.com

JOin me next time as we look ahead to their preview section!

Looks like I missed some July releases, all available now I assume

First we have Skraw, who is unfortunately the last Armadillion which I'm sure will disappoint the many people planning a fully armadillion army. Perhaps we can lobby Reaper for a pre-Armadillion Apocalypse line which would fill in gaps in the range?

Then we have the Brotherhood of the Seal.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks nothing like the concept art?
Spoiler:

I'm still a big fan of this fellow

And still wondering why his sword doesn't have a hilt, I mean surely he's got to be cutting his hand no?

One thing I admire about Reaper, besides their commitment to METAL is their determination to fill every possible niche with a mini (barring of course Armadillions) from were-sharks to circus ringmasters they've got it covered.

A zombie in a muumuu. TIck off another box.

And finally we have another staple, the male human assassin

THough why he only assassinates male humans is not explained, perhaps he's racist.

So anyway the old clock on the wall says it's time for bed so come back next time for a peek into Reaper's reviews.

And tonight I finish up this round of updates with some previews of upcoming models.

Yes, I know, Reaper actually tells people what they're working on, yet somehow they stay in business. Crazy huh?

First off we have um...

An undead starving were-deer?
Maybe?

I really don't know much about Pathfinder (from what I hear it's D&D 5th edition only fun) so I don't know what makes her an 'iconic' duelist.

I keep reading it as 'ironic' which would make her a hipster duelist. Maybe if I added glasses, iphone and starbucks cup?

Then we have a constable, who apparently is neither iconic nor ironic. A useful little figure for when your party is being harrassed by the man. And another model that instantly creates an air of mystery. Like, where are the rest of his legs?

I could make a joke here but honestly, it's a giant cave sloth. I mean I DMed for how many years and do you think I ever, EVER? reached for a giant cave sloth model. EVER? I mean sloths are slow, like "holy @#$% that's not slow motion that's how they move" slow. A one-legged dwarf could out run one. Who thought they needed a model?

Well apparently someone did.

I just wish I had access to Reaper's internal emails and their customer database so I could ask why? why?! WHY?

But somehow I'm happy to know they made him.

Now when does the were-giant cave sloth come out?

Years ago I had an idea for a WWII group called Sergeant Silverback and his Guerilla Gorillas. But I couldn't find enough models.

TIme to revisit that idea.

Or I can just pair him with Brother Vern the Righteous Missionary.

Of course first I ahve to get over my bias that real missionarys should carry chainsaws and not gattling guns.

I have developed odd ideas about religion after years of playing GW games.

GAH! GAH! GAH!

I have to stop looking at this site just before I go to sleep.

And finally we have a model who demonstrates one of the weaknesses in Reaper's line. I mean it's a fine sculpt except for the face. She needs some fangs or arched eyebrows or something or there is just no way to tell this Hunter is a Vampire. I mean if you're going to make a Vampire Hunter you have to make it clear she's a vampire no?

The first pic there made me think it was a miniature of ALF. Sadly, not to be. Though I think 7TV have one...

The only Alf I know of is by a very small company called 4 A Miniatures (a very reasonable £2!)

About halfway down this page http://www.fouraminiatures.com/page2.htm

I painted one up for an Infinity civilian, they are actually really nice minis. Added a stogie to this one, I've got two of them next one is getting dungarees and a trucker's cap.

I know this may come as a shock to many of you who saw the recent Grey Knights 'release' but there are miniature companies out there that actually from time to time... release miniatures!

Shocking I know.

And Reaper is one of them!

First off several of the figures from recent previews are now in shops, including Vampyre Huntress D'neice

And some I don't remember seeing before:

Swordcane McHappyface and

Lady Devilears Skullstaff of the Rather Long Belt

And with a new release of course comes... NEW PREVIEWS!

First off we have another iconic monster, a creature out of our nightmares who has been seen in countless fantasy stories and faced heroes like Conan.

I believe it's called a Giant Sloth.

Then we have another long-awaited miniature a...

um...

uh...

Small child who looted a thrift shop?

Maybe?

Then we have Crow, the Ironic Bloodrager.

He's ironic because everyone is all like 'stay away' 'that guy's a psycho bloodrager' but in fact if they got to know him they'd learn he's a pacifst, a vegetarian, a yoga guru and that big hammer of his is because he volunteers for Habitat for Humanity on weekends. People should really learn not to be so judgmental.

Speaking of looting thrift shops...

The Iconic Investigator would be a great addition to anyone doing Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader, he's got just the right amount of @#$% on him to qualify as a 40k character.

And this Dwarf Gambler looks ready to out-bargain and undercut your Rogue Trader crew.

Then there's this fellow

A man of mystery.

Like, how does he hold a sword like that without cutting off his own head? Is that one of the powers of an exaulted Warpriest? So many mysteries...

Here we have another model who really tells a story. Y'see this one time Nella was tickling her kitty's belly with a feather and then, um... @#$% I got nothing.

Y'know how last time I joked about needing a were-sloth to go with the giant cave sloth?

They're listening...

And y'know how I joked about making a whole army of cyborg armadillos?

It's closer than ever to reality.

Then there's this...

I'm sure when I see it painted it will give me nightmares for weeks.

Speaking of nightmares

I think we have your perfect Islamic State militant here.

ANd finally there's this Bones creation coming next month

Khanjira the World Breaker

IIRC, a typical 28mm figure comes up to like, her ankle.

So there we go, a miniature company that not only releases miniatures rather than retreaded and up-priced rule books, but releases a rich selection with something for just about anyone.

Happy shopping!

Haha, I've never bought a Reaper mini, but I keep coming to this thread for the previews.

Does anyone know a UK Reaper stockist that doesn't charge ridiculous prices, there's some of their stuff I'd really like to get hold of.

The best UK stockist of Reaper I've found is http://miniature-heroes.co.uk/

They get pretty regular orders in from Reaper in the USA so if there is something you want you can get them to order it (I've done this for Reaper paints personally)

I love this thread. t just keeps on giving - on so many levels. And I always come away wanting to buy a bunch of them. What's Reaper's ROW free shipping threshold now? Still $100? I swear, if they'd kept it at $50, I'd have spent SO Much money on their stuff....

Not sure how close they are, but one of their relatively short term goals is a Reaper office in Europe somewhere (likely the UK). Shipping from the UK to Australia is significantly cheaper than shipping from the US to Australia.

I just shipped a pretty small package to Australia and it cost me $28.40 with no tracking. Few weeks before that, I shipped some stuff to the UK - and it cost $32.79 (again, no insurance, no tracking). It sucks a bunch, but with the USPS charging what they do - until they get an overseas distribution center (ideally with manufacturing capabilities...which is the hang up for them), I don't think it will be dropping back down to $50.

They are always good for something you didn't quite realize you needed...or figured you needed...but never thought anyone would make it.

For as many retreads of typical fantasy tropes we get from Reaper (as I'm sure that's what sells), nobody can argue with the sheer breadth and randomness of some of the figures they put out.

I'm sure I'll get a few... just because.

I've got a soft spot for trying to paint those Wayne Reynolds designed figures, despite my distaste for painting humans.

As other's mentioned there are two (2!) October promotions, the limited edition chibi halloween figures and the bonus pakc of paints for orders over $40 which finally got me to place my long-pending order.

There's also some new previews!

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews

The big new line is Wild West Wizard of Oz, sort of a steam punk take on the classic tales.

It's been a few years since I last saw the movie but as I recall these are the Wicked Witch's iconic evil servants. I believe they're some sort of winged dire sloth.

It's been a few years since I last read the books but as I recall this is the Wicked White Witch of the North who cast a spell on Oz so that it was always winter but never Christmas.

It's been a few years since I last read my copy of Scott Shaw's Oz-Wonderland War but I believe this figure is a take on the classic heroine Hermione of House Griffendor.

It's been a few years since I last checked the Wikipedia page but I believe this is the Tin Woodsman who in the final scene of the novel is transformed by the Green Fairy into a real boy.

It's been a few years since I last watched my Oz DVDs but I think this is a steampunk take on the Cowardly Lion who in the iconic final scene is reviled by the Wizard as the true king of Gondor.

It's been a few years since I last checked out Judge Dredd Oz but as far as I can figure this is the Scarecrow who, along with the rest of the Family of Blood is ultimately imprisoned by the Doctor in a mirror. In fact all mirrors.

We also have this big fellow

The Beast of Lepidstad who is an obvious reference to the famous (and public domain) gothic horror novel the Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde.

There's also some good close ups of the chibis if you're thinking about them.

Just the thing to give your End Times armies that extra bit of personality!

And a Halloween tree to go with them,

Looks like Reaper snuck out a few releases among the Halloween figures, I don't remember seeing these in previews so...

First we have Elizabeth the female pirate captain (why she only captains female pirates I'll never know)

She's a fine figure and you can tell she's the captain because of her unmistakable, prominent, enormous boo...

boo...

boots!

Yes her boots, everyone knows you can judge a pirate wench by the size of her boots.

That's what I meant to say all along.

I also can't help but note the price, $8 for a one-piece 28mm mini. Now granted GW would charge $25 but that's hardly a good measure is it? When did metal prices creep up so high? Is she really worth it?

Even with those firm, round... boots.

A nice companion to last month's giant snake is this month's 28mm giant cobra. Don't let the scale limit you though, you can also use it as a 15mm colossal cobra, a 10mm gargantuan cobra and 5mm titanic cobra. Or even as a 54mm large cobra or a 1:1 pigmy cobra. The only limit is your imagination!

Next up is one of those insane models no one ever asked for but once you see it...

A halfling riding a giant bee!

I mean not since the lepracaun riding the owl has there been such an awesome idea.

The best thing is it can also serve as a 1:1 scale sprite riding a large-but-not-outside-the-realm-of-reasonability bee.

Jewel is another unlooked for but welcome addition. A 'steampunk aquanaut' she'd also serve well in Rogue Trader type games as a woman in a grimdark space suit just by trimming the spear gun. Or keep it, I mean spears are still pretty lethal in space no?

We have two sensibly-dressed women in a row, must be a new record!

A female knight, in full plate, with a sensible haircut and useful set of weapons? Is this the Reaper I know and love?

Spoiler:
Ah much better

Finally we have a Dwarf Anti-Paladin

and frankly I agree with him. I mean dwarfs get 60' infravision, ability to detect sloping passages and can multiclass as fighter/thieves and thief/fighters! What do humans get? Nuttin! Except exclusive access to certain prestige classes like the Paladin, and even then we have to share rangers with the Half Elfs.

So y'know what I'm pretty anti-dwarf paladins too!

Man - they didn't make those easy to find. I had just checked Reaper earlier today to see the new releases and they didn't make the front page.

Trying to find the pirate I couldn't locate her with a "female pirate" search - finally had to search for Elizabeth.

Yeah they announced them on Facebook a week or two ago but I didn't see them on the site till now.

And even then they're not on the front page. I guess they have a slow/busy web team or they want to get them in shops first before listing them on their own site.

Reaper launches new line of 5mm Kaiju!

http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/animal

They also snuck in a few more previews.

First up we have Christmas Knight and his partner, Christmas Eve

And wow, I just love these two. First up the names, why didn't anyone think of these before? I hope Reaper plans to make a whole line of books, cartoons, comics and games around them.
Second off, how better to celebrate the spirit of giving and the brotherhood of man than with a guy ready to shove 3' of cold Dammascus steel through your guts? And who has a spare sword just in case he needs to take your head off too.
And then I just love the Disney-style paint jobs. Real kudos to Jessica Rich for a great job.

Then there's two lizard men

Nothing screamingly innovative but a solid take on the idea. And another great paintjob.

And finally...

If you'e been looking to play an elderly woman armed with... um... some kind of pinwheel of death thing, well your long wait for a suitable model is over!

As always Reaper has you covered.
