Battle Systems is opening up their kickstarter for die cut, cardstock ship interior terrain this Friday, Nov 1st.
The product looks amazing, and should be a great alternative for people that like this kind of thing.
Yes, very interesting.
I'll be waiting for what appears to be another year or so for my Bug Hunt Corridors, so this may have to work in the mean time.
All depends on price and fulfillment projections.
Battle Systems makes some other print from PDF terrain that looks gorgeous. I'm hoping they can get this off the ground with minimal fuss and a good price point.
This has been teased a few times right? The product, not the Kickstarter specifically.
Very bad timing for any other KS for me, and it's a little grim and gritty for how I envision my Infinity games, but I'll be bidding off the bat to see where it goes.
The Stronghold is a great set up and that picture is before any stretch goals get added. I have several games this will come in handy for and just in time for AVP too (OK this doesn't ship until next May but still).
The £64 price is for the EBs. Normal Stronghold is £70 plus £8 shipping UK or £16 RoW - the card stock is heavy and apparently US shipping should have been £35 but they they've eaten some of the cost and found a cheaper shipping option. Still a great price (I think anyway )
Looks pretty nice for Zone Mortalis, though I think the square are a bit small? Hm.
e: Or not actually. Guess I'll jump in, hopefully they offer floor tiles as an add-on soon.
Must admit when I read "card stock corridors" I felt a bit ho-hum, I'll give it a look, but as soon as I saw the sample layouts I was completely in love.
Stumped up for the Stronghold - if I give up the smokes for a week or so I can easily afford it
While I'm not entirely interested in sci-fi corridors at this time, this looks to be an excellent start to their Kickstarter, and I hope they can expand and maybe do some modern stuff for Zombie-apoc, post-apoc, or near-future gaming in the future.
Next Strech goal at £44,000 - 1 Command Screen and 2 V-Consoles add to Stronghold
Update #3
Errr, another goal. Plus suggestions and Postage
Hi all,
Well we having some technical difficulties, but nothing we can't handle. Getting the stretch goals up soon.
Suggestions
Lots more suggestions, again.
Floor tiles as add ons are coming. We are thinking of an extension pack of 3 tiles for those that want to just extend a bit and a full pack of nine ties for those that want to double up the floor space. How does that sound?
People want supports for the Bridges. We found they are strong with metal minis and weights we put on. However we can work something for double long bridges. Below is a pic with a couple of bridges. We used a tower we built using the addition ramps included to support the longer gantry. Lots off stuff left over from the stronghold pledge in the back.
Tower in the middle with two gantries
Ramps
Ramps are all about making corner, connection doors up close to walls (i'll explain that in a video soon) and making towers. Below is a couple of tower pics, that show this. The one with the Gantries has our old style railing on, so ignore them, these will be the new ones.
Simple tower
More complex tower, (this has window wall that's not here yet, and the old style railings, but you get the idea)More complex tower, (this has window wall that's not here yet, and the old style railings, but you get the idea)
Postage
Please take a look at your pledges. A few of you good folks have not included their postage for either the UK or the rest of the world. These sets are supper heavy compact card. It's like shipping books. If you see you have missed it, just go to manage my pledge and increase it by the relevant amount. i.e. put a new total in there that includes the pledge price and the postage. It's listed in the pledge reward amounts on the right of the main page in the green boxes.
Thanks by the way. lol We have hit our second Stretch. So you get
x1 additional clone chamber and x5 cargo crates.
Should have the next one up by the time i post this, but Our very own Wayne has Food poisoning (talk about bad timing. lol) His ok, but has been driving the porcelain bus for the last 6 hours. Wish him well. In the mean time you have me. Sorry ;o)
Here is a pick of the reversal aspect of the clone chamber. Cheers all
Thanks for posting RoninXiC means this post won't get appended to my last one
£44,000 stretch is in 1 extra Command console and 2 extra V consoles added to Stronghold.
next goal at £54,000
Extra tiles as add ons are coming up.
Update #4

The mile stone, our goal - Floor tiles - Console alternate screens

Before we hit our 3rd Stretch wanted to give you some insite into our plans for whats coming.
The mile stone
We have our costings worked out on a price per sheet. In the Stronghold set you will get 33 sheets of terrain (not including stretch goals) A4 size. This is double anything that has come in similar terrain products. Plus any clips that are needed. Currently we are working on our funded goal order size. However at a funding of £70 we have an order pre-set up that is 4 times the number of sets. This brings the cost per sheet down by about 30%. What does this mean...
It means that we can use the saving to create new tools. These can then be put on as add ons for purchase. The first two tools we have planned are... (subject to change)
Tool 1 = Window wall + Wall console + Elevator. (yes we are going to try and give you all three as one add on)
Tool 2 = Medi centre - x3 medibeds,+ x2ish wall displays + x1 medidroid/unit.
We are going to promote like there is no tomorrow, but it will be down to your good selves to help spread the word. We hit our goal super early and I can say this is entirely down to the support that you guys gave with postings on forums, bloggs, etc. If we can keep the momentum going and chip away, there is no reason why we can't get these tools opened up soon. It's the call to arms... err.. again... )
Floor tiles
We are preparing the floor tiles for as the next add on. Who's up for them?
Add on - x3 standard tiles. Comes with 6 Struts, 3 Buttresses and 3 chairs.
Add on - x9 standard tiles. Comes with 18 Struts, 9 Buttresses and 9 chairs.
Standard tiles means. 8 sq x 8 sq. 20cm x 20cm Approximately 8 inch x 8 inch. Basically extra tiles from the set.
V-Console
In the comments section we had a little wager. I promised that I would do some alternate display screen images on the V-Console if we hit £42K before our first 24 hours was up. It was touch and go, but we did it with about 3 minutes to go. So in the Stronghold set there are 6 V-Console. There will now be 3 different screen display designs. So 2 pairs of each. )
While writing this Wayne has informed me by text (yes my phone is back up and running after the KS emails crashed it due to volume) that we hit the next stretch goal. Thanks all, this is getting good for additional content.
Watched the video and had to stop it around a minute in from disgust.....
DISGUST I HADNT PLEDGED YET!!
thought that stuff was painted, and then they said pre-colored. I gotta go that route right now as I can't stand for anymore projects. Absolutely excited for this now.
Well, this all sure looks amazing. But I don't think I can justify another terrain system after having spent $500+ on Deadzone and Maki plastic terrain.
Update #5 - something a bit different stuff planned for the future not necessarily as part of this KS but this is an example of what else they can do.
Project Update #5: Small update - All good things...

... come to those that wait... I was always told, I guess that's what KS is all about.
We've been talking on the KS about potential future products. Now I don't want to shift the focus, but simply show what is possible with this kind of terrain system.
Here is a pic of the standard wall done as a Dungeon wall set. You can see that it completely changes the look of the set. However it is actually the same tool that will cut the door from the current set.
Standard door wall (un finished) there are torches that fit in the slots )
A variation on the Battle table, would require a new tool.
These are sitting on a Mantic DKH tile, but you get the idea.
Just thought we should share the fact that we have a plan and are in this for the long run. We want to bring lots of ready to play terrain to the market. We spend ages painting minis and so the terrain should be ready to play. This KS is about getting it all started and there is no other ready to play sci-fi card terrain (that we know about) out there.
Well there is now, cos we are funded and theres more sets planned.
Pretty awesome, I like how they just reuse the tool for the basic wall section. Stands to reason, and is nice and efficient! ; ) I'd probably pick up some fantasy terrain too tbh, despite not playing it. If I *had* awesome terrain for fantasy... That said, I'm still much mroe keen on sci-fi since I do play and collect that actively.
We have an Infinity player who is going all in on this, I think buying a 4'x4' table's worth.
But to do that, you need a 4xStronghold pledge, right? That's $425, so too much for me right now... but I am very excited to see (and use ) the terrain he is getting!
Yep 4x4 would be Stronghold x4 although you can buy floor packs for £10 for 3 tiles or £26 for 9 so if you spread the rest of the stuff thinner you might get away with less Stronghold packs.
The Window Wall, Elevator and Console Wall are a £4 add on for a set of all 3 once unlocked at £72,000 (Kroothawk has totals in dollars instead of GBP - I've made that mistake a few times on UKKS projects)

That will be a _packed_ 4x4 though. A lot of fun, but you certainly wouldn't literally need 4xstronghold to cover a 4x4.
I have some ideas for a docked freighter next to a shipyard that I think this would be perfect for.
You know what would be good? Stronghold without the floors. I can't be the only one who already has a surface to play on and would rather save money for more walls.
Can someone in "the know" outline just roughly what you'd need for a simple 4x4 setup? Pretty much the mnimum for any kind of wargaming I'd want to do on it.
Could possibly do a 4x2 setup with the other 2 feet of the board being "outside".
I like stuff like this but I'm always confused by the layouts and plans.
lord_blackfang here's the response - not yes or no but depends on if it's economically feasible I guess the floor tile tools are pretty integral to the whole set up and they need to print and sell a lot of them if they remove them from a pack it may not make economic sense.
Creator Battle Systems Ltd
I guess it's possible, but would need some serious number crunching. Basically how it works is...
Every time we add something we increase the cost (of course) and some items cost more to make than others. Basically I could add a Wall only pledge and end up selling loads. Then find we have run out costs for the Goals... so its a balance. (boy I use the word Balance too much)
@DaveC - I will look at it for sure. One thing I also want to do is keep the KS simple, as our first one, we do not want to make mistakes. lol

Thanks
Looks like a little over $420 for us in the USA to do a 4X4. StrongholdX4 is the level.
It depends how dense you want the terrain I guess, but yeah I'd definitely like at least a 4x4. I'm currently in for 2xstrongholds, but might go up to 4x by the end. Really impressed by the layouts they showed, can see it being a lot of fun to play with ; )

Well, just let him figure out what add-on exchange value he could give for the nine floor tiles in stronghold and we can choose from there. If it's not worth it, well okay, I'm sure most of us will be quite understanding if it's just not feasible. Having the choice would be very, very nice though.
Stretchgoal #8 is unlocked so we now have access to windows, wall consoles and elevators.
The Med bay is definitely in the pipeline - confirmed by BattleSystems. They seem to be very very good at listening to what the backers are requesting and then reacting to that (along with the gazillion ideas they had anyways). All in all this is turning into a more awesome product by the day.

We are well and truly into the swing of the KS now. Backers coming in each day at a steady pace and we are rising close to our £80K freebie. Just over £1K to go. So we are going to reveal the next three stretch goals.
More height please...
We are working on the basis of height for the first two goals. To gain height you need a few basic components, converters, second level clips, gantries and railing. these will compliment the two floor tiles we gave in Stretch goal 6.
First up Stretch goal TEN & ELEVEN - 3 pairs of Converters and Clips, 2 Standard Gantries, 5 Spot Lights. The converters enable you to build sheer wall faces and consist of 12 pieces including all the clips. The standard Gantries are the staple of your walkways and are also the most flexible for creating shapes, (you can never have enough of these), finally are the lights, they add the details and the 3D element that really create the look of the set and bring it all to life, just like the Struts and Buttresses do for the walls.
(£86,000)
More height more height.
(£92,000)
Ok we have height, can I have something to stand on please. ;o)
Stretch goal TWELVE
Finally it's the Medi-Bay - Add On. Yes that's right it's new tool time. We will be explaining more about the tools in the video we mentioned in the last update.
We have been dying to get this one up. It's that classic scene from all sci-fi movies and books. You already have the clone chambers, but not the equipment to do the experiments. This add on will cost £4 and contain 3 Medi-Bed Scanners, 2 Wall Mounted Medi Display and 1 Medi Doc Unit. Add a few of these and you can have some real fun. I bet this is where the infestation started )
(£100,000)
Damn it, I'm a doctor, Cap, not a bug herder!
Before we launched this KS we had put in place a few things to promote it for when we hit the slow, but steady part in the middle. One of these kicks off next week so we are hoping to push through these goals quite quickly. Damn, just jinxed it. lol
Lastly we want your opinion again. We are constantly toying with ideas. As a future mini stretch we are looking at some options.
User guide. When you receive your boxes of terrain, it will come with instructions so that you can get started and this will include the do's and don'ts of how to care for your lovely new things. However we can produce a users guide (PDF) that will give you great ideas. Scenarios set ups, how to build towers, how to use the ramps to make dead ends, mazes, sets up that are mostly corridors with a few rooms for those claustrophobic skirmishes, or huge great open buildings for open war fare. Basically a guide that... well... guide you for the best use.
Another Goal Idea is to add battle damage to some more of the items you have. We have done this already with the Clone Chamber and Wall Screen, but we could do this on the reverse side of the ramps. How about we texture in holes that have been torn into the ramps where things have crawled through, or claw marks, scorched areas and bullet holes on the turbines. These will be reversible so that you can choose the state of you equipment or where you want the access hatch in a ramp before you play.
Example of Clone Chambers with and without Battle damage.
That's it for now, keep posting on the blogs and shouting, I can't stress enough how much this is increasing the funding, then we can start giving you more core kit and new content.
I'm only in for a pound right now, but as soon as I figure out what I'm putting down on MA, verify that there is nothing else that I can't live without modeling wise (likely), and sort out just how poor I am after funding too many campaigns... I plan to do at least one stronghold, with strong urges for two.
A single stronghold would work for deadzone, for an interior board. I was typing up on figuring out a way to adapt it to deadzone's 3x3" cubes, since for some reason I thought they didn't match... But yeah, stupid me, I was thinking in terms of 8" floor tiles, and not the fact that 3 of those makes 24" total space, and 3 inch grids obviously make a 3" space. DUR, total week long brainfart there
Anyway, now that I've destroyed all credibility...
I was thinking of doing a BS/DZ tiles combo involving DZ tiles assembled as containers (as that's technically what they were before they were converted into buildings by colonists) held in a central hold of a board built out of BS tiles. Maybe get an extra floor pack, but then just cover that with DZ stuff, and surround it with BS rooms, walks and gantries. Defend the cargo! The big haul. Etc, fun scenarios abound!
Oh, and if they make a fantasy set.... Holy crap I'm doomed. This stuff is perfectly amazing for making a modular, build-as-you-go dungeon. Perfect for D&D, Pathfinder, or whatever the cool kids are throwing dice at these days
Hahah yeah it looks like the deadzone rules will work well in this terrain.
My concern with using deadzone inside this terrain, is that the deadzone stuff is pretty damn big I think, it might seem out of place being bigger inside this smaller-seeming terrain. The reverse however, with the deadzone terrain "outside", representing outlying smaller buildings should let you use say 2 strongholds on a 2x4 part of a board, and deadzone terrain on a 4x4 part of a board, for a nice large outdoors + indoors 6x4 board packed with terrain. Since I have something like 14 deadzone battlezones, I'm quite keen on ensuring they get used though ; p
Already have Bug Hunt Corridors coming and I only went in on Deadzone for the terrain so I've already got enough SF coming. But damn, I'm amazed by this stuff. I'm in.
Yeah, I was thinking of a sweet Infinity configuration involving a warehouse in the middle 2x4' of the board with maybe a parking lot or similar on one end, maybe a couple of watch towers, and then a back alley for some skullduggery.
I'm liking the free additions to stronghold with the stretch goals. More into the multi level terrain since that just seems ridiculously awesome, but if I went for the single level terrain it would probably be to more accurately represent the interior of a ship I'd say. Which could be a good thing too ; p
Well we are having fun. It's another two stretches gone and on to the next two.
As we progress through the KS, (rather more quickly than we anticipated. lol), it has come to our attention that a few people would like some more single level play. What we are looking at is a pledge level that would be single level only at the same value as the stronghold. This would be very similar to our 'Station' pledge level, only with more components. A few more floor tiles and walls to expand it. It would also be open to any Stretch goals that contain single level components... like Stretches 1, 2, 3, & 9. Add-on's can be purchased too as normal, so you can stick that Medi-Bay in there when it's unlocked. )
Anyone who pledges on it will of course automatically get the stretch goal 1,2,3 & 9 and any other Single level goals. We will mark these clearly so that you can see them.
Will need to put a list together for you guys, so will work on that and do a picture so you can see what this looks like. )
We are running on a 3G network at the moment with low signal due to local cable problems. so no shiny pics tonight. I have been informed that this will be repaired by 9am GMT tomorrow so should be back to normal soon )
We are still moving steady and knocking those goals so keep spreading the word, it takes quite a few prods to get some to notice so go go go. )
@Yonan, only a very boring ship Any large ship would easily have multiple levels. And a big cargo bay with huge containers would necessarily have multiple floors and perhaps an observation tower as well
If you're talking like a small freighter or something in between a fighter and a war ship, big enough to have more than one actual room but not really thick... then I guess so. But lots of big ships have multiple decks
You'd *definitely* want multiple levels for the ships, but not gantries as such which make up the multi-level aspect currently. So you'd represent multiple levels on the ship with multiple single levels imo, rather than using gantries or walkways for the most part.
This sort of illustrates my point, I couldn't think of a word other than "midsection" to google to find a sci-fi one. Each level is a discrete entity with only limited ladder/stair access to the next so you don't want to have multiple levels stacked on top of each other while you're playing. Side by side maybe, or rearrange the current level to match the next (which should be quick) perhaps.
Ahh well yes, I guess you make a pretty strong point there
I was thinking along the same lines but warping my reasoning to make my point sound better :p
I still say there are some bits on the interior of a space ship that would do well with multiple levels like a star-trek style multi-level warp core room, or a big cargo bay
Yeah some will for sure, the two you mention are very likely candidates. I'm not gonna go for the single level terrain pledges. Worst case, is I just buy more strongholds so I have more fodder for the board ; p

Hi All,
Well we've been busy today sorting out some of the future fun for this set. We want to add additional content to the rooms. The stronghold already comes with tons of fun, but we can always add more. To give you an idea of just one of the items we are working on I've added some pictures below to show you just what goes into each piece.
Lockers...
First we use some good old graph paper and spend hours sketching the idea... err, well about a minute. lol
a 1 minute sketch.
Then we hit... The Tablet. This is where the hours really get put in. We start with a line drawing at 1 pixel width. Then we build the basic laters up in very much the way you paint your miniatures. After this we put in what we call the recesses. These bring the whole thing to life and make the illusion of the surface. It's a fine line, you don't want it too real to life otherwise it just looks dull and does not fit with the fantasy world of the minis. On the other hand you don't want it too cartoon like otherwise it just doesn't work. This took us some time to perfect and is the stage that really ramps up the hours.
adding the final touches
Once this is done, it's straight onto the printer and then it's sealed to the card. It's all cut out and we check the fit. If adjustments are needed we make notes and hit the tablet again. On this locker, there were no adjustments needed, got it right first time. )
(looks smug)
Pre assemble build.
Then it's simply slotted together and chucked straight onto some walls. Like the Clone Chambers and Wall Screens this also clips onto the walls and is very securely held in place.
The final Prototype. )
Arranged in a line
Now we are into the 'middle two' of the KS we will be spending lots of our time doing the above in preparation for the each stage of the KS journey. We will still be there on the comments and you will still have to endure my joke of the night, but we will also be spending a lot of time developing to make you as much content as we can. We said in our main KS video that our real goal is to be able to have a game where your miniatures can move from a command centre, through to an engineering plant, then onto a medical bay... Well in two stretch goals time we will have achieved that and hopefully still have quite a few days to get through on this KS. So we are still planning on giving lots more free core set items with new items too when we hit the goals that allow us to make a new tool. We are moving onwards and upwards, thanks to your support.
Thats..... a lot of stuff! I'm in at the EB stronghold x2 so I'm getting x2 of all the stretch goals. Not sure what I will do with it all, maybe an military district and large military building!
I like the communication from these guys, even giving us a peek into development! The lockers look good, I love how their terrain is just so full of stuff, rather than straight sterile walls. Impressive accomplishment for cardstock.

That's what got me too. Usually I hate card terrain. It looks flat and bland and just generally sucks. But this stuff? It's awesome. One look at it and all I could think is "damn, that looks like Doom or Quake or some such, I must have it!"
Project Update #12: THE BIG BANG.... IS COMING...
Posted by Battle Systems Ltd ♥ Like
Well we are on the cusp...
When we started the KS we were hoping we would be funded within 1-2 weeks and then hit some stretch goals in the final couple of weeks. However after doing about £10k in as many minutes and being fully funded in four hours, we realised we might have been a little reserved. lol
We had a plan and at the very end of the plan was the hope that if it went really well we might get £70K, but dare not say it. After 10 days we are bordering £100K ... amazing.
This is mostly due to the support of the community we have here. We feel like we know many of you really well and you guys have been working hard behind the scenes to shout about us. Some of you have been actively offering to help and even offering to sacrifice your own time to assist in various areas of the KS, this is truly wonderful and we thank you and all who have supported us on every level.
So that's enough of that sloppy stuff... What next...
The next stretch goals are up and ready to be knocked over and into your parcel when it arrives.
First up is a new Stretch Goal. We are calling this the 'Mini Goal'. This is a Re-Skin, an upgrade to the designs and we are starting with the cargo crates. We will take the prototype of the below Plasma Crate and work it into the main set. This means that one in five of your crates will now be a plasma version. So far (with stretch goals) you are getting 15 Crates so this means 3 of them will now be Plasmas... ...Might think twice before taking cover behind those ones ) Watch out for new Mini Goals.
£105,000
Err, Cap... are you sure you want to hide behind this?
Next... it's time to give you more core product and it's Walls, that's more flexibility right there on your builds so you can go that little bit higher or wider. You just can't have enough walls.
£110,000
Bang... more walls. Just like that.
Finally we have more core product with x3 Crates, x1 Command Screen and x1 V-Console. Crates are essential cover and will play a big part in your skirmishes and campaigns (especially if you are now blowing up the plasma ones ;o) and you really will want every room to have at least some kind of computer terminal or display. We might have a Mini Goal just before this one, depending on the time we have available. )
£120,000
Ah yes, things to hind behind and target. D
... In other news we have put a 3D graphic together for the HULK pledge and I will be testing it's flexibility over the next few days. This means I will be taking all the components and test building. I will probably finish this on Wednesday or Thursday night and we should have this pledge up and available by the weekend. We will give you another update on this before we finish and actually put the pledge up.
Also I'm working on the next tool, there is actually two tools, one a complete tool that is themed as a stand alone set (like the media-bay) the other is a mixed bag of new items that will help bulk up your set with furniture fun, it will include the lockers that you have already seen.
So there we have it. All in all a jolly nice lot of kit. We said we wanted to give you much more than will be available in the retail box when it hits the shelves and we are certainly living up to that goal. )
Oooh, the plasma crates are pretty sexy. Now that I'm out of other kickstarters, I get to start moving money around to see what I can really do here. Hoping I can do 2 strongholds, but maybe just one and some choice add-ons will suffice
Very happy with the added value to this so far, and sounds like they'll be looking into adding damaged terrain as an option based off KS comments. Acid splashes were mentioned in relation to AvP, blast damage etc. Deadzone had damaged terrain kits which I snagged a couple of, I'd likely do the same with these too for added variety.
Yeah, this is getting so tempting to go along with AvP...
My only concern is the longevitity of this stuff - it appears to be printed stickers stuck onto card - or is it foamcard? How succeptible to warping / bending is this stuff and how long will the joins last?
Ruglud wrote: Yeah, this is getting so tempting to go along with AvP...

That's what you were supposed to do with the DLC. I'm pretty sure that the Kickstarter is supposed to fund printing the terrain on the heavy card as well as the tools to cut it out.
Pretty pumped to use this as a deadzone board or as half a board with other half being outside and having some sort of assault the complex misson would be pretty cool! I'm in for a stronghold right, may be tempted for some addons such as the med-bay but stronghold has so much stuff already it will be hard to justify!
I have 14 bzs from dz and now some mars attacks tiles coming too. I think one strong hold will make a great interior and some extra addons will help fill out my battlezones with scatter and objectives.
Very nice, can see that being used for actual gameplay results too - you probably would want to stand well clear, or if it's positioned near an objective you need to hold, keeping the enemy out of LoS of it at all costs ; )
It also looks really good. I'm pretty much sold 100% on 2xstrongholds+ at this point, but would still like to see some more hands-on videos demonstrating usage and durability.
Yes me too. This looks absolutely fantastic (and has got wonderful cross-game potential) but I wonder if it is a bit optimistic/daft of me to hope that it can hold some paint? Just to weather it a bit, and help get away from the 'sheen' of card terrain.
Good news they are using a heavy card-stock however.

I'd say if you varnish it before and after it should be fine, though it could substantially alter the look of it which might not improve the looks. They did mention in the comments that they were looking at doing damaged versions of the stuff too which would be ideal.
Note Stronghold and Hulk add on prices already have the shipping included in the price as there is a bit of confusion over the shipping costs for the pledge levels.
Update #13
Nov 14, 2013
STRONGHOLD & HULK... Add-ons... ... and postage )
So... over the last week there has been much discussion in the comments and also direct emails about the possibility of having a HULK option on this KickStarter. Also talk about being able to pick up an additional Stronghold set. Always eager to please we are looking at the following...
Stronghold Add-On. UK £78 - Rest of world £86
Just like the normal Stronghold, but an Add-On. )
This is the same as the single Stronghold pledge. So if you are currently on a x2 Stronghold and want more (but not quite the x4 Stronghold pledge) you can simply increase your pledge amount by the cost of this Add-On and get an additional Stronghold. This Add-On includes any Free Stretch Goals just like your normal Stronghold pledge.
HULK Add-On. UK £78 - Rest of world £86
Hulk SMASHHHHHH, our Add-On value )
Stretch Goals items so far based on our current funding level, CoolStretch Goals items so far based on our current funding level, Cool
This is a single level set equivalent to the Stronghold. It does not have the Gantries, Stairs, Railings and so on. However it does has extra floor tiles and walls for a larger footprint. You may have a stronghold, x2 Stronghold or more and want more floor space, walls and room items at a single level so that you can build around your Multi-level madness, with some single level slickness. This is the Add-On for you. It will also include any Free Stretch Goals that are relevant to the single level set up. Additional paid Add-On stretch goals can be added as normal.
As you can see we have included postage in the price. Just increase your pledge by the correct amount depending on whether you are inside or outside of the UK.
We looked at many ways of implementing these options into the KS and decided that this would be the only way we can do it. It also keeps the pledges clear and simple which is vital for new backers.
Below are two set ups, the first is the standard Hulk Add-On as pictured in the graphic above it's just what is included without stretch goals. The second is an example of a set up using a few purchased Add-Ons and some of the stretch goals. In both cases we had a few walls and doors left over )
Standard HULK Add-On without any stretch goals. This has 12 floor tiles.
HULK - Showed with a few Add-Ons and some of the stretch goals. We added a small Floor Tiles, a couple of Turbines and the Medi-Bay Add-Ons. So this has 15 floor tiles.
These Add-Ons can be activated in the next few days, please let us know if this is something you would be interested in.
It should be noted that we are not able to mix your pledges, So if you have a x2 Stronghold and want x1 stronghold and x1 Hulk, you would need to change your pledge and this means you might loose an early bird. We must keep the pledges clean and simple to view for new backers as this will help the KS run it's natural course and give you the most stretch goals. )
Lastly Postage...
We've noticed that there are still a few UK pledges that have not included the postage that is needed for the UK. The cost of the postage is in the pledge details for the rewards on the main page on the right of the screen. Please check your pledge and amend as needed. For example the stronghold for the UK is £70, plus £8 postage, so you pledge total should be £78. Just click the 'Manage my Pledge' button and increase your pledge by the relevant amount. Each Pledge level has a different postage due to the extreme weight of the sets. )
Right next up is the Video, we will shoot this and explain some of the finer points as mentioned in previous updates. Also we are working hard on new content to be able to show you soon. Well it's the new content first, but we will get to the video!! Plenty of time, (Twitch) )
Thanks again we are STILL moving steady even though we were told it would stop after 3-5 days, Amazing you guys are doing this with your posts. Keep it up.
You're the best
Colin
Automatically Appended Next Post: This is how you get the Hulk on it's own
Note: if you want to buy the Hulk add-on only please pledge £1 then increase the pledge to the cost of the Hulk add-on. If you already have a pledge level simply add the cost as any normal add-on.
You have to include the £1 in the pledge total so UK Hulk would be £79 on it's own.
Hmm interesting. So for me this changes nothing as I'll either get 1 stronghold or two. But great to see them taking care of other backers with more options
I'm currently in for one of the multiple stronghold sets but thinking of changing to multiple hulk sets or downgrading to one or two strongholds and a couple of hulks on top. What do you think is the cheapest way to get a 4' x 4' board? I'm wanting to use the set for Zone Mortalis and 4' x 4' is about the ideal size from what I can tell.
Do you want multilevel stuff? a 4x4 board with 2-3 levels of stuff will be a lot more fun with that vertical gameplay than a single 4x4 level imo. Hulk is single level, station is multi-level. 1 of either should cover a 2x2, so you sort of need 4 for a full 4x4 covering. I like the added gantries and stuff from stronghold so that's what I'll be going for, but I'm still deciding between 2 or 4.
The absolute cheapest would probably be 2 hulks and some extra floor/wall addons but I think you'll lose a lot of very nice extras if you do that.
Stronghold has 9 tiles per set
Hulk has 12 tiles per set
You can buy 3 floor tile and 9 floor tile packs as add ons
Stronghold x4 = 4x4
Hulk x3 = 4x4
Stronghold x3 plus 1x 9 floor tile pack = 4x4
Stronghold x2 plus Hulk x1 plus 3 floor tile pack x2 = 4x4
There's lots of ways to do depending on what you want to build
Thanks for breaking that down for me, went for Stronghold x2 plus Hulk x1 plus 3 floor tile pack x2 = 4x4. The 4 strongholds is another £38 at the moment, just a little too far that close to Nidmas.
Yeah Snrub, that was initially my plan but AvP (at least at KS launch) was too expensive for me to justify getting it. I'm hoping it gets enough added value by the end for me to pick it up since the terrain is perfect - especially since they're thinking about adding "damaged" terrain, such as explosion and acid damage. Acid damage.... ; )
My main use will be Deadzone initially, but I also hope to get smaller scale 40K going on this terrain - and am actively working on converting 40k units to Deadzone rules. SMs are basically done, with another ~6 armies on the go. Fast paced SMs vs Tau vs 'Nids (for example) 3 way in Battle Systems terrain with Deadzone fast action rules will be pretty glorious imo!
I can see there's still some slight confusion about add-ons. To buy add-ons you need to have pledged for the Outpost or above (this is to stop people buying tonnes of stuff and not pay postage!). The only exception is the Hulk add-on and that's because the price includes postage. After that you can buy as many add-ons as you like.
Nothing to do with me davethepak this is Battle Systems KS I'm not connected to them in any way other than being able to have a good chat with Wayne and Colin (from Battle Systems) in the KS comments (great guys to chat with and they are very open to suggestions/ideas). Battle Systems themselves don't post directly to forums they leave it to backers to get the word out.
Exterior Walls is on their list of things to do if they can get far enough but that would involved making a new tool which is expensive so they need to fund that first with add ons of existing stuff and the reskins which are cheaper to do. The Elevator, Window Wall, Wall Console set and the Med lab set are completely new tools that they have funded through this KS. They have a few more to add first like the previewed lockers and they have some new prototypes to show off tonight.

Yeah the price/content ratio put me off AVP too. For now...
There is no price/content discrepancy with this product though. I'm thinking this may also mesh really well with my ruined city TableScape board.
Two strained eyeballs, 3 scalpel cuts and an ignored family later... we have something new. lol.
It's the... err... flexi-door, ... err... don't have a name for it yet, but it will allow you to have a Detention Cell, Air-Lock or heavy Struts for your rooms and Corridors. As part of our DLC range we have the Detention Cell Room Pack, which we always intended to redesign for the new terrain set. Mainly because of the scenario options it opens up, (like rescue and escape missions), but also because it adds another door option. However, after all the feedback from the comments, messages and emails, it's clear that people wanted other items. With this in mind I have designed this from the ground up to try and fit in a few more options. So the Detention Cell can also be an Airlock or simply more solid cover and eye candy for your rooms and corridors.
So lets take a look...
Detention Cell
Simply clip the Wall parts onto the set using the clips provided as part of your pledge. Then place the Energy Field/Shield. I have played many rescue missions on our DLC range and it really does make games fun. Having to split your force to protect you while you deactivate the Cell door and release your allies. )
ok, boys, i'm going to drop the shield, ready?
Airlock
Airlock is always a great way to represent either an entry point from where to start the game or an escape exit point to head towards as part of your scenario. Ever wanted to blast someone out of an airlock, well now's your chance. Maybe this could be where the escape pods live? As above, just clip onto the walls and use the new airlock door.
Cover Struts
Rooms and corridors are already full of cover for your groups to hide behind, but lob a grenade in there and you might find those crates and computer terminals disappear quickly. Well, lets see you shoot through a solid stone wall! Use the Wall parts of this to make more interesting cover options and generally make your set look COOL!
We have really tried to open up the use of a tool here to give as much value for your money as possible. This item will not fill a whole tool, so I'm working on some items that can accompany it and when done will show these. Then I will crunch the numbers and set it as a future Stretch Goal along with some others.
What about those Lockers?
Well we will be working on some other items to go with these so that we can have a tool of neat room themed items for you to grab.
As always let us know your thoughts in the comments on this update so they are easy to find and then discuss the C**P out of it in the comments. See you there...
Would really love to see them release the airlock and struts. I'm really impressed with what these guys are doing. I have fond memories of my old GW Imperial Firebase, and other card terrain from back in the day.
Say, dumb OT question: who makes/sells the clear bases they use on their minis? I don't recall seeing them anywhere.
They got a load off eBay for this purpose - they are trying to see if they can add them as an option as they are getting clear acrylic clips cut anyway not sure if it will happen. Litko do clear bases as do Fenris Games.
Not sure where to get them in Australia. I ordered some from Litko, a US company. I think most/all laser cut clear acrylic bases are virtually the same (pending thickness, theirs look like 3mm, I ordered 1.5mm thick). Fenris games or fenris something is maybe a UK vendor? There are a few places, may just have to fish around to get a good shipping rate. And I coulda sworn they said something about offering laser cut bases as an add-on. May check back a few or wait for someone to confirm.
I get my clear acrylic bases from some small laser cutting operation in the UK (name currently eludes me), and I'd say anything similar could cut a bunch for you. They're not exactly free but I don't think I paid more than 20 quid for 100 bases even including intl postage.
As we approach our next goal we are working away on new content like there's no tomorrow, but this is a KickStarter and so there is a tomorrow and they come round fast when you're running one (mops his brow).
Just over half way now and already we are far ahead of where we expected to be. So to keep you up to date here's what we are doing...
Tools...
Die cut tools are the main focus now. All new content requires them and we are currently working on three. The first two have already been started. The mixed room items (of which the lockers are part of) and the Detention Cell/Air-Lock, as in the last update. Both of these require more work as they are not full, basically we can fit some more goodies on there and so each sheet will house as many items as we can fit on them. Here's a sneak at another item...
Bunks
The bunks were a much requested room item and not originally part of our plan. They do however add a real sense of realism to any large set ups. All those troops have to sleep somewhere! Not only do they lock nice, they are also great centre room cover, kick them over for instant cover or scatter them about for a derelict abandoned look.
Okay lads, stand by ya beds!
Damn those rats, I just made these... DIE!!!!!!
We've gone for a design that is most useful in game and the only way to show this is in a video. - A very short video. (This is not the video you've been waiting for... move along... move alone...)
You'll need an HTML5 capable browser to see this content.
More to come as we scribble away into the late hours.
Flexibility
One of the main aspects of our range is that we make it flexible. We start with the modular aspect of the set up, this gives you a new setup for a new scenario every time. However some of the more keen eyed might have noticed in the last update a barricade. Here it is again...
Give us a lift with this lads, we can hide behind it.Give us a lift with this lads, we can hide behind it.
It's actually simply the elevator removed from its runners. Pop it off and spin it 'round. The Add-On that has the lift also has the window wall and Console Converter. So it you want 4 windows and 4 converters, but only need a couple of lifts then you can use the other 2 as blast barriers. Just adds to the future fun of the set. )
We are working hard on these so that we can have them ready as future stretch goals and will update you as soon as we have them ready. )
That it for now. More to come... when we have drawn it... speaking of which off I go...
Each tile is 8 squares by 8 squares each square is 25mm x 25mm so yes 200mm x200mm in total. The card sheets they print on are approximately A4 in size which are 210mm wide so they can't go any bigger than 8x8. 12x12 for example is not possible with the printing tools they have access to. Also the tools are quite complex not only do have to print double sided they also have to cut the card as well.
The attached image shows how the tiles go together.
£125k goal is up - extra Med screen if you buy the Med bay add on. £130k should be something new.
We've put up a feature on the Battle Systems Kickstarter at Corehammer and we'll have an interview with the guys from Battle Systems up tomorrow., where you can find out a bit more about the people behind it. Check it out, and if you're bored in work, have a browse of some of our other articles too. We've recently put up stuff on the Black Library Weekender, The Fiasco Wargames show, a review of the Macragge's Honour graphic novel and an article on a love for second edition 40K paint schemes.
Very nice, will read it tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up ; )
I think I'll deal with the Deadzone 3" cube thing by placing a small dot at the corners of each cube so it's easier to track, but won't detract from the visual. The walls wouldn't look right on the broken concrete Deadzone mats I don't think... if it does though, that'll fix any problems I have nicely hehe.
I think the interior scatter will port to dz well, but the walls need some kind of visual break. I have enough bzs I Msy just build a wall out of them to be the side of the building

Project Update #16: Work in progress...
Posted by Battle Systems Ltd ♥ Like
... And so it's update time again... This means I need to tell you about the new stuff. Well I'm still working on that. What's actually happening is I am working on three items at once. This means I can't finish them as quickly as I normally do, but when they are ready to show you they will all pop along in updates quite quickly and ready for the final push. )
I did however want to tell you where we are with the last couple of new items you have already seen...
Tool - Lockers and Bunks (£4)
These will be the next add on and ready to unlock at £130K they will be accompanied by a double width door. Yes, you wanted another door option and I've nearly finished this. Below is a couple of images of the PS render.
Bunks lined up and ready for action
The Blast door is half done, but getting there. You will see a working prototype soon.
Tool - Detention Cell / Air-Lock (£4)
The next tool on the cards will have the detention Cell and airlock on there. This will give you both the Airlock door option and the energy field. These will also have a little something extra to accompany them... which I am working on as soon as I finished this update ) It is another combo item, that can be used in a couple of ways, to give the most flexibility.
Tool - XXX (£8)
The final tool I'm working on at the moment is the XXX this is a more complex tool with a little more on it. It is an item that has been requested quite a few times and will fit the genre of most of your games. It will take me time to finish, but will be ready before the end of the KS and will be well worth getting your hands on. More on this as I work through the tool.
The designs for all the above (even the XXX) are already done, it's just the time it takes for me to render all the textures and basically draw the bits from scratch. So I will be diverting all of my time into providing these for you guys. We can then go for the all out push and blast through these goodies.
Video update (free;o)
I have shot most of the video update, just need to make a few more shots and edit this together. I'll keep the edit rough to save time, but should be able to demonstrate some of the finer points of the questions you have asked. )
KS Progress (Priceless)
Before we started the KS we were warned that we would have a spike on the first day, boy did we have a spike (tick), then possibly another on the second, we doubled our totals (tick), then we were told we would have a tough and slow ride from about day four (err), this never happened. We basically continued to smash the stretch goals and fly through the KS at a speed that we were not expecting. We were then told that we would hit a brick wall at the start of the second week (err) this did not happen, we continued to smash the targets set. Every KS hits a threshold of funding though and I think we are finally there with a little over 10 days to go. Amazing as we are also nearly at £125K (almost $200K). All we need to do now is keep the message alive, we are on the home straight and are doing everything we can this end to shout. Beasts of War, Wayland Games (still to come), Facebook boosts of our posts, etc etc, just need to keep the message alive. We want to finish with a bang and thanks to you all we are going to do this. Grab your weapons, lock and load, form up, and ..... CHAAAAAAAARRRRGE. D
We will have these new add ons up as soon as they are finished... and to that end... off I go...
Sweet, looks good. I think most of what this KS is offering is going to be drawn up before it closes, which is pretty good considering how many of them end with promises and concept art Not saying that many don't deliver on those promises and concepts later, its just nice to see them keeping up
GrimDork wrote: Sweet, looks good. They've had most of the design work done for a while, and available as DLC. This is almost a textbook example of a gaming KS-- mostly finished, just awaiting the funds to bring it to press.
I thought all of the KS designs were new and separate from their DLC? That's how the interviews have read unless I'm mistaken.
It may just be down to a KS that has "done better than expected" without also "blowing the hell up" allowing them to produce more but not having to pull random ideas out of their hindquarters because they never expected to get so far ever.
So the two shown above and the XXX are all going to be separate add-ons? Are there any other items that are only available as add-ons (as opposed to included in the sweet spot)? And is there any discussion of additional postage costs for them?
Azazelx wrote: So the two shown above and the XXX are all going to be separate add-ons? Are there any other items that are only available as add-ons (as opposed to included in the sweet spot)? And is there any discussion of additional postage costs for them?
There are a couple addon-only kits (6 and 7 so far I think), so I've added more for them. Elevators and med bay iirc.
I assumed postage was baked into the cost. If it doesn't say it adds to postage costs, pretty sure they can't spring it on you later. They specifically mention a separate RoW inc. shipping price for the 1x stronghold and 1x hullk addons iirc.

the core work was designed in advance for sure, they brought a basically complete product to Kickstarter, included pretty much all of what they had in the initial pledges, and have then been expanding on their range ever since. Much much better than the firefighting that we see in other kickstarters that seem to wing it as they go along. However, none of this product has been previously available to purchase from Battle Systems via their DLC (papercraft) ranges. The KS is all about helping them fund the tooling for mass production.
Azazelx wrote:So the two shown above and the XXX are all going to be separate add-ons? Are there any other items that are only available as add-ons (as opposed to included in the sweet spot)? And is there any discussion of additional postage costs for them?
Yes they'll be seperate add-ons, no there won't be any additional postage costs. Once you add on the postage quoted for whichever pledge level you choose, you can pick as many add-ons as you wish with no additional postage required. The slight odd one out is the "Hulk" add-on which has postage included (hence separate prices for UK and RoW) as it can be taken from the £1 if people have no desire to buy any of the standard multi-level pledges.
We will be meeting the guys with a few of their backers on a games afternoon in Leamington-Spa (West Midlands, UK). They have asked us to pop over with some of our terrain as the two systems compliment each other nicely. There will be games played on our terrain testing AvP War-Games Rules. We will have our cameras ready and send some juicy pics tomorrow night... as will they so watch out on both fronts.
New stuff
So we have said we will have an Add on with Lockers, Bunks and a Wider Door. This will be our next goal. If it's not up on the main page yet... it will be soon. ;o)
Then we have the Airlock, Detention Cell and something else... Well the something else is...
Reactor Cell and Centre Conduit
The Reactor Cell is a great piece of kit. It can be placed against the ramps and makes for great (if slightly volatile) cover. There is also the Centre Conduit. This is a nice stand-alone piece which is great for cover, but also can be combined with the Reactor Cell to make a really nice centre objective. We've only built two so far, but the Conduit will house 4 in total. The Reactor Cell is very flexible and with a little upgrade could do more... watch out for this soon.
Can't get me here, err... hang on?
Twice the fun!
Don't Cross Me!
Looks great with two, imagine four
We will be putting up the next stretch goals, starting with the Bunks, Lockers and Double Door, then the Airlock, Detention Cell, Reactor Cell and Centre Conduit, then as soon as we have finished it the XXX piece, which should be a nice all rounder and is a single themed set.
So with that in mind I need to prepare for the AvP meet tomorrow and then crack on with the XXX, all good fun )
I'll stick with double stonghold and look at add-ons in the pledge manager. I have no idea how to afford this thing anyway with all of the others and Christmas.
That looks pretty cool, but how are we supposed to get 4 reactor cells to go with one conduit if we don't also want the extra doors? Well still some time to get it all sorted out.
Hey guys a very small update just to get you some pics. Been here now in Leamington-Spa for a couple of hours and played a few games on our Hulk style single level layout.
Here are a few pics of the fun and I can confirm that the two systems work very well together, already using those crates for cover and kicking over the those bunks.
They said somewhere, maybe the faq, that it weighs 3-5 kg for 1 stronghold depending on stretch goals. Steep shipping but damn, that stuff is heavy haha.
Dunno about you guys but I'm thrilled about the lockers and beds, really lets you bring your boring hallways to life as functional rooms, and the big door doesn't hurt my feelings either.
Project Update #20: mini update ... more photos...
Posted by Battle Systems Ltd ♥ Like
Okay, so I sent a live update from the gathering yesterday and as I'm still working on new content I thought I would give you some feedback from some of the visitors.
Set up used...
The set up was single level and spread over 15 tiles. You could easily set this up with two strongholds, or even 1 stronghold - or a Hulk - with additional floor tile add ons. We used a mix of doors including single width (25mm wide) double width (50mm wide) and the hanger doors. The new reactor and centre conduits worked well and provided essential cover in one of the games. Some of you might have noticed that there was a mod to the reactor cells, this could tool as a mini stretch goal over the next few days ;o)
Pre-game briefing
Although I was not timing myself it took about 25 minutes to set up and about 15 minutes to pack away.
Terrain in action...
One of the first things I noticed when people were gaming on the set up was that it was effortless. There was no adjustment to the scenery, no planning, no rule changes. Simply enhanced game play. Movement was instantly making use of the room items, although the focus was testing the rules and so most just pushed into battle. Turbines completely blocked LoS for even the big guys and often a combo of other items would simply make shooting ineffective.
Grahhhhhhhhhh. (I'm sure I have a gadget on my arm for this situation)
One thing we did notice was that you could put the Aliens on the wall ramps and this was really effective. They could occupy this space as part of the game and so add to the realism of this particular miniatures game...AvP of course. Furniture was also used to stand on as part of the game. In the central command room an Alien jumped onto the Battle Table to get into close combat with a Predator... Nice
Sherrrrkkkkkkkk (you can't block my movement this turn old chap)
Sheeerrkkkkkkk (Grubs up fellas, last one there is a rotten egg)
Careful on that table mate, it's not got a screen protector on it! Grrrr
Feedback for the set...
The attendees were clearly taken by the terrain. Not only those that had seen it for the first time, but also those that were backers. We have seen this before at shows, but are always overwhelmed by the compliments of how well this holds up on close inspection. The one we always do is the crush test on the Turbine. You simply can not crush it in your fingers. ) We had some regulars who we had already met at past shows and for them to actually game on the terrain was good to see.
Just hanging!
Basically we got a thumbs up all round, on looks and practical game play.... and... once again we had to point the clips out to someone who could not even see them. )
AvP...
As some of you guys are also backing this miniatures game too, I can confirm that the figures look really nice up close and feel good in the hand. They fit the terrain well and everyone seemed stoked by the gameplay.
We even got the seal of approval by a couple of actual colonial marines, they were there to tell us when the game was ... finished. ;o)
Game over man! Game over! (sorry couldn't resist)
Conclusion...
It was great to be invited to the gathering by Prodos and it ended with a thumbs up from both camps, phew! ;o)
@Kroothawk sorry internet and sarcasm and all that. I wholeheartedly agree, those are excellent pieces and I'm looking to get at least a couple of sets.
Also agree we almost always see these guys lurking in spaceships and industrial interiors.
Any word on when they would be pushing out the more dungeon-esque stuff? I'd assume after they had shipped out this one, I just want to be better prepared (wallet speaking) when that one comes through...
RiTides wrote: Good point, gunslinger. This one came at the worst possible time for me, unfortunately :-/
Likewise. I'm miserly holding onto an Early Bird, trying to move funds around (and maybe sell Kaladrax) to make it work. I've already had to bow of of the AVP one for similar reasons.
Never have I been more thankful of my "cash buffer" I force myself to live with. I'll live like a miser after this KS/christmas to build the buffer back up, but I have the cash on hand to take advantage of this... well, four of this ; p
The weight of this just goes to show the quality/strength/durability I think, which is a big part of why I'm keen on it. I'm not a fan of cardboard/cardstock for terrain. I can see why it's useful but it's never been my thing due to lack of strength/durability and lack of depth. The thickness of this, the durability from that, and the way it's designed to build out to be 3D, counter my normal complaints about cardboard terrain. Then you add on the really nice printed designs and all the doodads and you have a product that will enrich your gaming experience substantially I think.
No free addons to stronghold for a while would be my only possible complaint at this stage ; p Oh, also would like that video covering the stuff more in depth.
I'm fairly new to tabletop wargaming (2-3 years), though I played pen and paper RPGs for ~20. Are there any competitors to this terrain? All I've seen are other print-at-home cardboard offerings, large resin sections (AvP, RPGs), and pre-printed but purely flat cardstock (ie. DZC).
There are so many kinds of terrain available, although this seems to take the cake imo for scifi interior. Others will have a better recent memory of projects than me though.
@ Yonan: I have a dark alley I want you to look at.
I wonder why they didn't make a 6 stronghold pack. 6x4 table and all that. As is, they have 4x4 and 8x4 which is kind of annoying for anyone who wanted a full table. You're either just shy or too much.
You can add individual strongholds to any pledge level so if you want 6 pick the x4 level and add the funds for 2 more strongholds £156 UK or £172 RoW.
but a set of files with all the 3D designs in so you can play around with designing layouts at work etc when you don't have your card terrain available
I will make as many different (3D) file formats as possible. Many viewers are free and easily available. I'll go into exhaustive and boring detail closer to the time. It's mostly aimed at those you who like mucking about in 3D rather than the puzzled layman. - Wayne.

next stretch goal after £140k is a mini one at £146k - Stasis pod reskin.
Colin is expecting to have the large special goal ready for tomorrow night and another video including a weight test.
They will have a pledge manager and you should be able to add more funds later - we're pushing Wayne and Colin for both a Paypal option in the PM and for it to be released in the new year so even if you just get in for a bit now you can get more later.
Well as I mentioned we are flat out on the new content, but here is a few close ups to keep you guessing. )

I've downloaded some more video bits and will edit this together tomorrow and the plan is... to show you the xxx tomorrow evening (late evening if I can finish it) and then the video late evening on the following day. That's the plan, but don't hold me to it )
I'm sadly probably going to have to back out of this one. Because Money and Family and Christmas > More Toys.
Luckily Wayne is offering a PayPal option, and hopefully that goes into January, so I'll be able to get back in for just as much, because this stuff looks to be bloody awesome.
That's a shame Aza, hopefully the pledge $1 and increase it sufficiently later on will be doable to get peoples cash reserves up again. If not, could look at splitting my 4x strongholds with you if you like. 2 should be enough for me but... more always seems better ; p
Yeah, with Brimstone and Journey paid for, and most importantly Christmas - I'm out of cash for this stuff now. I know how you feel, my original plans were to get 2x Strongholds now and add another pair after Christmas via the PM.
That's a kind offer, too. I may be interested, depending on what January does to me...

Aha! But this one isn't soaked in bitter tears or anger! And I'll be pledge-managing this one back up to speed if the PM stays up into Jan - which should be a safe bet - 2 weeks for KS/Amazon to sit on the interest/process the payment, and then a month... Actually - how long does Amazon keep trying to charge you for? 1 week? 10 days? 2 weeks?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I also went in as basic as could be on Journey. The killer was Brimstone.

Close, but no prize. It's the...
DOCKING BAY...
Okay, so we have been showing sneak peaks for a few days now and dropping hints, but it's finally here. Finished literally about an hour ago and photos 30 minutes ago as I write this.
The Docking Bay is the staple of many sci-fi movies and so it belongs here. It was something we had on the books from the start, but not planned to make for the KS. However, early on it was demanded as a staple setting, (before we all got carried away by requesting the more obscure items ranging from Hot Tubs to Drop Ships), so we carefully made some plans just in case we got that far into the funding... and boy did we get far. )
The images below are based on two tools so this will be a much bigger add on at twice the size of the normal single one. The tool will also be very complex. Yeah Baby )
They've breached the energy field sir!
Squeak, squeak, Come on boys, we're in!
Control to security, back up in docking bay 12!
Take em down!
Damn it, Wheres my back up!!!
I'll hold them off sir! (there is only three)
Is anyone coming to help!
And so it was...
The airlock style surround (on the floor) will have a variety of images that you can download and print for placing underneath. For example airlock doors in the closed potion, then in open showing the shaft and then the opening into space. Maybe some water, or a reactor field. )
We will confirm that exact contents over the next few days and have it up as a stretch goal ready for the last run.
Video...
The final shots have been taken and this will go up tomorrow. It will explain about the durability of the card, as well as a few other questions that have been asked.
It is now well and truly past my bedtime (the KS altered bedtime too) and so it's over and out from me.
Azazelx wrote: That's a kind offer, too. I may be interested, depending on what January does to me...
Yep, keep it in mind and PM me closer to post-KS survey time if money is still tight since I'm not positive I want to go down to 2, but... it might be good incentive to do something rational with money for once ; p Delivery should be a fair time after that so cash should have built up. I have several +reps on WGAU and Westgamer for trades if that matters.
I've asked this in other places I think, but can anyone think of competing terrain offerings that rival this? All I've seen are print-at-home options (substantially lower quality), pre-printed card such as from Drop Zone Commander that is basically rigid square city blocks, and large, expensive and less modular resin sections that still require painting. Oh and the new Deadzone stuff. But nothing seems to compete even closely with this stuff for interior terrain that I've seen... I'd really like to see some alternatives if people know of any.
edit: The docking stuff looks good Dave! The extra options are going to add so much versatility to this stuff... I love it. Love the shot of the guy from the higher level window covering the lower level area.

Sounds fair and thanks again! I'll let you know what's happening once the survey time comes. I've got a bunch of +1 on WAU as well. What city are you in, anyway? Perth?
Azazelx wrote: Sounds fair and thanks again! I'll let you know what's happening once the survey time comes. I've got a bunch of +1 on WAU as well. What city are you in, anyway? Perth?
Yep opposite side of the continent hehe. Still, Perth metro to Melbourne metro should be normal postage iirc, but sadly no pick up ofc.
Docking Bay will be an £8 add on and should be unlocked at £160k (TBC) there will be a free extra at £152k.
Also quick reminder pledge level prices do not include shipping for anyone even UK so remember to add it now prices are listed in the pledge descriptions 1 Stronghold pledge starts at £8 UK £16 RoW. There is no extra charge for any of the add ons no matter how many you get - the stronghold and hulk add ons have postage included in the add on price. If anyone misses out the postage it will be billed during the pledge manager.
Edit: I should clarify that Docking bay contains the 4x4 floor panel surround, double height entry door, floor ramp, control room and a double height buttress - it does not contain everything in the pictures - not for £8!
They are also looking at doing a PDF of various inserts for the floor panel - closed doors, star field, rector core that type of thing you print them yourself and put them under the surround and over the current tile.
Have they talked much about a pledge manager and what it will allow you to buy post KS? Normally I hate to do this, but I may only be able to add a small amount now and bump up to get a stronghold pledge after the holidays.
The way it's looking right now is that you will be able to add any of the add ons to your pledge in the pledge manager EDIT:(so long as your pledged at Outpost or above )but you may not be able to change pledge level - in this KS it doesn't matter as the Stronghold or Hulk is an add on at £78/£86 which is the same cost as the Stronghold pledge level.
£152k Stretch Goal
Docking Bay Goal (amount not yet finalised probably £160k)
as this came up in the comments
The following stretch goals are free with each Stronghold (so 2 Strongholds = 2 sets and so on)
#1,2,3,4,6,9,10,11,13,14,15,18
The following stretch goals add extra bits to purchased add ons (all add on graphics have been updated to show the contents including these bonus parts so these aren't in addition to what you see pictured)
#5 adds bonus parts to add on 1
#7 adds bonus parts to add on 3
#16 adds bonus parts to add on 7
#20 adds bonus parts to add on 12
The following are add ons only and must be purchased they do not come with any pledge level
#8 - unlocked add on 6 - £4 add on (Elevator, Window WalL)
#12 - unlocked add on 7 - £4 add on (Med Bay)
#17, - unlocked add on 10 - £4 add on (Lockers, Bunks and double door)
#19 - unlocked add on 12 - £4 add on (Airlocks and Reactor parts)
#22 - still locked but will unlock Docking Bay £8 add on.
Am I correct in concluding that the ONLY way to get window walls is via Add-on #6? And only 1pc at that. Been searching and that does seem to be the case, a shame wish there was another way to get multiples, as I think they add a lot to the tactical setup possibilities.
Yep Rabid, though the new stretch goal has an observation bay with windows. I agree, I've picked up several of that addon but will end up with more elevators than I need. iirc they said there was another use for elevators though, a barrier/cover thing maybe? It's not ideal but ... ok I guess.

Thanks, that's what I figured though you're right about the observation thingie, maybe I'll get extras of those to mix it up a bit. Have some ideas on indoor / outdoor setups, but I need enough windows to make it happen
Final video will be up this evening. Next stretch goal Docking Bay at £162k (now confirmed)
Pledge manager may be open all the way to May (TBC) however the earlier you lock in the earlier your stuff is shipped early lock ins and EBs getting first shipping.
You asked for it and here it is We've uploaded a new video which answers a few questions that you've raised such as 'how tough is it?' and 'what do I do with all these ramps?'
You'll find it on the front page, it's the second video in the How it Works section. The video is warts and all so please excuse any iffy editing or audio levels
Also, for those who don't read the comments the Docking Bay will cost £8. That's right, £8. why not buy two? Why not buy one for each limb? Why not buy your grandmother one even though she won't know what it's for?
Finally, thank you to everyone who sorted out their postage. And if you didn't, why not?!
New stretch goals including a (small) free stronghold upgrade. I like the look of the new table, will be much better having multiples of those than the map table.
Just watched the video, happy with the strength and durability. Can handle ample stress for gameplay. As they say, if you treat it like you treat your minis it'll be fine. Good that they show colouring the edges too. I'm in big for this, but it very much seems worth it. The guys seem great too, as you say well prepared and you can tell they love their stuff.
Yeah they're doing a great job. I think I'm gonna be in for stronghold and one of everything that doesn't come with it. Maybe an extra turbine or something.
Stretch goal 25 is a re-skin of one side of all of the turbine parts so that it can be reversed for battle damage.
£180,000
Stretch goal 26 is free counters. These have been squeezed onto the Turbine Sheets and Additional Ramps sheets so they're extras if you buy those. If you have a Stronghold or Hulk you'll get them automatically.
£185,000
The next two stretch goals are a pair of crowd pleasers and the one after that is a bonus if we get that far!

Next
We are working our socks off right now on the next two goals after these and want to get them out to you. One is something we always wanted to do and you guys have said it would be cool, the other is something you guys were asking for and so we have put it together.
One way or another we will try and get these to you D
Colin <3
Here's the new artwork for the table - they removed the tablets at backers request you can make all 3 from the table parts. The screen is an extra part that sits over the table so it is normal on one side and cracked on the other if you leave it off you get the regular plain table.
I had to drop down a bit, sadly. Gave up my limited Stronghold x4 spot. Downgraded to Stronghold x2 with a Hulk added in. Should still be more than enough to fill a 4x6 table, though.
Update #28
Post KS activity... "What, but we haven't finished yet" )
True we are now in our final hours, but we are thinking ahead and want to let you know how we plan keep you informed.
And on the 31st day they rested...
Yes on the first day we will rest from what has been a massive task. We had a plan and hopped we would get funded and a few stretch goals, when we exploded, we had to jump on the graphics tablets and have lived there ever since.
Surveys and Pledge managers...
Of course once the KS is done (and after the first day) will be start the logistical mountain of sorting all the data and putting the KS survey together. This will go out (not sure how fast) and everyone can select the add ons they chose etc.
The Pledge Manager is the next major survey/selection manager. We need to explain how we expect this to go...
KS is designed to fund a project that would normally take many years to come to life. One of the ways that funding is handled is with the stretch goals, these are a animal created by the KS process it's self and not by the developers of KS. The idea is that the more people who jump on the KS and pledge get more than when/if the product comes to retail.
Stretch goals can only be offered before we start the manufacturing process. This makes sense because we can not ask the manufactures to produce the items needed for stretch goals just in case we get additional orders at some future date, otherwise we would have lots of odd items left over that could not be sold by themselves. However...
We do have a window of opportunity after the KS ends and before we start manufacture. We need to have proofs of the tools and prints made and signed of before we hit the final print button, so to speak. We want to hit this button as soon as possible so that we can get this too you fast, on time and to account for issues and delay. We could hit this button at the end of December, mid January or even the last week of January... a full two months after the KS ends. But the truth is we just don't know and this is normal in any manufacturing process.
So... we will offer additional sets of Stronghold and Hulk including stretch goals for as long as we can after the KS ends, but we can't say at this point when that would be. (possibly up to 2 months). Once we hit the Manufacturing button the final order will be in and we can only offer stronghold and possibly some Hulk sets, but these will be without stretch goals.
If you can, jump in now to guarantee those freebees. We will manufacture Add Ons too so these should be available on all pledge manager updates, but could be limited. We will base the popularity of these and the number we produce on the numbers selected on the KS.
Updates...
We want to keep you informed as often as possible and will update you on every major part of the production. We plan to do a weekly update, even if there is nothing to say )
And so it begins...
The final hours are upon us and we are working like, like... well, something that works very hard indeed,... to get you some cool stuff to finish on
In we dive... wish us luck... D
PS, don't forget to check you have added in your postage, some still need to add this )
Exterior? No no, do not want, can't afford more addons!
Bumped up to 122 curious English squigly lines to get 1 of everything and some change for my favorites (docking bay thing may eat all of that though), and that's as much as the wife is set to spend on me. Anything else will have to be paypal later (of course if I get some x-mas funds....)
£190,000 and looks like exterior walls are next proabaly at £200k

Tired of walls covered in grime and horrible alien blood? Uncomfortable performing surgery amongst rust and decay? Then you need our shiny, spanky clean walls!
Each set comes with 3 walls, 1 doorway and a blast door. The Clean Wall set will be available for £4.00.
We've also got an add-on that will allow you to buy additional Clean Ramps, if you want them.
We recommend a ratio of 4 'Clean Wall sets' to 1 'Clean additional Ramps' set. The additional Clean Ramps will be £3.50.

Project Update #30: Update to Update 28. lol Posted by Battle Systems Ltd ♥ Like
So... there is some confusion over the Stretch Goals after the KS,
Below is a comment I made (in the comments section to clarify a few questions )
Stretch goals are for the KS, the whole point of stretch goals is to get people to back you now and get free and cool stuff. This has not changed we are doing this.
1. What happened is that lots of people who wanted this cool set, but could not afford it right now were asking us to provide the stretch goals after the KS has ended. i.e. "I want a stronghold, but can't buy now can you still give me the stretch goals even though it's only for the KS funding period, I want to pledge in after on the pledge manager?"
This is not normal, but we told people we would do our best, they would need to get in as early as possible.
2. The reason we have not given a date (a cut off date) in the update (28) is because we don't have one. We can't give one, due to the way the manufacturing works... but we will let you know 'post' KS, as soon as we know. We will say, "you need to order by xx/xx/xx date to guarantee the Stretch Goals.
3. We aim to get the pledge manager out as soon as possible, so some will have the funds then and add there pledges and get the Stretch Goals included. We will leave this open for as long as we can, (a time we don't know yet, cos of the manufacturing), but when we close it... it will close because we have to go to print. After this it is unlikely (but not known) if we can add to our order and so do not know if we can offer stretch goals to people after this.
The main point here is we are going above and beyond to give as much as we can to all, but if you would like to pledge in March (for example only) it is likely you will only get the Stronghold WITHOUT SG's.
We can't leave the goals open for ever, but also can't give dates we don't know about.
We love you all and will try our absolute best to give as much as we can. )
It's been asked for but they can't offer it as they are getting printed as sets and they have order runs to think of. The clean walls add on at least can be bought separately
EDIT just trying to get confirmation if the clean pattern is on both sides or just one side with the regular dirty pattern on the other side so it fits better with other rooms.
OK currently the plan is clean pattern on both sides will update if that changes.
What are ramps for, since they recommend 4 wall sets to 1 ramp set? And is there no way to add on buttresses and struts?
Is there an "add-ons only" pledge, I don't see one? Wondering what shipping would be just for some walls (and struts if possible... still can't figure out what the ramps are for).
If you watch the videos, they explain and demonstrate the ramps extensively. The ramps are the base of the wall that angles away from the wall. You have ramps that allow normal walls, and ramps that allow walls to intersest with other wall.
The ramps are the bottom of the walls that inverted V shape, there are different shapes to allow you to make corners but only the flat straight wall ones come with the add on that's why you need the extra packs if you want to make corners. The buttress and struts are on the Floor tile tool so they can't do them separately.
You must pledge at least Outpost to buy add ons this is due to shipping costs the only exception is the Hulk add on which you can buy by pledging at the £1 level and that's only because the Hulk add on price includes postage already.
Got it, thanks . Is Hulk a decent value compared to Stronghold? It's more tempting to me, but I really would've liked to have the option to just get walls for use elsewhere without buying a set.
Oooh clean walls but what might they have suggested at 200k
Automatically Appended Next Post: I think Hulk is of comparable value and includes the same stretchgoals as stronghold, but it's intended for a single level interior (why its called (space) hulk) instead of having parts included to allow for multiple levels and gantries etc.
Thanks, DaveC! I'm surprised they didn't add a "Hulk" pledge level, seems like I won't be able to add add-ons later if I pledge for it at 1 pound.
Very tempted, may spring for it when home this afternoon . Did anyone confirm if this is enough to actually play Space Hulk? Maybe not, but it looks amazing.
Hulk was by backer request it's not something they planned to do or something I think they particularly want to do so that's why it's set up like this I guess they really just want to do lot's of prepacked Strongholds for ease of shipping. If you add the Hulk add on to the £1 level you can pick any of the other add ons as well - this is the only exception to the £1 level.

BUNKER!!!
Ok, so it's here, some of you guessed right, it's the bunker.
The bunker is a set of outer walls that connect directly to the standard wall clips! Simply set floor tiles up in the shape you want, then surround them with your standard walls. Remove the ramps from the outside of the standard walls and replace them with the bunker walls. Done )
You can then add some divisions inside where you want and scatter it with room items.
I'm working on the tooling set up now so will be able to tell you how many tools it will take and this will then set the price. We've just done a small set-up here (as we were drawing and making this today!!!), but you can make a huge set up if you want.
Well I feel much safer in there )
Wow it fits so nicely )
CHARGE!!! hang on they left the door open, cool )
Avon calling!
Well we're coming in either way!
Yep it's 'Walls', COOL
So our next update should be able to explain the cost, but these are coming...
Damn I can't wait to play on these myself, ironically this will happen rarely. lol
I think the DZ terrain and this will now be staying separate. But still together. This will serve as the permanent military bunker/installation built after the initial habtainer settlements and military habtainer upgrade modules have long since been in use.
Think of it! Set up a 2 or 4 x 6 board. Fight your way through the first 2x2' of the city in one scenario to push your way up into the second portion, finally ending in a daring bunker/command center assault
This will cover a stronghold all the way round when set up in a square. However it will also allow you to do many shapes and sizes from small bases to larger more complex set ups.
Here is a pic of just four possible lay outs. (Each drawn square is one standard floor tile of which you get 9 in a stronghold.) the small set up is the base I built in the photos in the last update.
Be amazed by my last minute sketch )
Here are the pics of the individual pieces.
PLEASE NOTE - You get the bunker outside wall piece, not the wall it is clipped to. These walls you already have in the pledges you picked.
Straight Wall
Corner Wall
Inverted Corner Wall
Two-Way Corner Wall
Standard Entrance
Corner Entrance
Double Corner Entrance
There are lots of fun configuration you can do, especially with the Double Corner Entrance and the Two-Ways. These are ace.
We have put this pack together to best suit set ups, just like we have with the stronghold.
Stronghold is £78 (£8 shipping) but yes you can pledge £1 now and up in the pledge manager but there is a caveat to get the Stronghold (or Hulk) with all stretch goals rather than just a regular Stronghold (no SG) you must have upped your pledge and paid before they finalise their manufacturing numbers this could happen 2 to 4 weeks after the PM goes live they will know the exact date closer to the time - so if you leave it to long you will just get a basic Stronghold so there's only a small window to get the full deal. The PM will go out shortly after they get all the details from KS (in about 2 to 3 weeks) so you may have to lock in as early as the end of December or probably mid January at the latest
Battle Systems view stretch goals as a reward for people who back a level elligible for SG during the KS only but they are willing to allow a little leeway in the PM.
I know other KS have worked differently in this regard but each creator is free to set their own rules in this regard - just so long as everyone is aware ahead of time. Basically they can't order a load of extras on the off chance someone wants them later they need firm manufacturing numbers otherwise they will be stuck with a load of odds and ends they can't sell or at least make the money back on.
alien walls anyone - OK down to concept art now also extra wall add on - you must be pledged at least at Outpost to buy add ons the only exception is by adding a Hulk add on to the £1 level.
Update #34

More Walls!
Comment
Infested Walls... Add on at £4 available from £216k.
Ok so it's been on the cards for some time now, but I think we can be assured that this is one that many will want... A set of Walls that have been either infested by an alien presence or damaged by some kind of warp event or space time issue )
You might want some ramps with that... £3.50
More Standard Walls... Add on at £4 available NOW!
People have been asking if they can buy just a few extra walls for their set, the answer now is yes. Grab yourself some extras, they are already to go. )
Lets see if we can make these available for you guys )
Sounds like that will be the last bit, they don't have time to get a piece costed up before the timer is going to run out. I think they did a great job rounding out the set though I may spring for some extra walls (clean and infested) before it's over. Would probably need another $100 bucks to get bunker walls and variant walls during the manager... We'll see what xmas and my brithday bring about in terms of leverage
I thought they were stalling at ~120K, but they raked it in towards the end, very happy. They must be happy too, but they managed the campaign really well I think so they deserve it. Really glad I backed it, helping bring a great product to market and getting a good value sci-fi table that'll sort me (with Deadzone) for a long time I think.
The concrete outer walls and infested walls... they just may get more from me in the survey ; / 4x Battlezones already... so much... but the sting of the price should wear off by them, so that's something ; )
Yeah i'm dreading the survey. I may just crumble and purchase 1 each of the add-ons. The med-bays and lockers & bunk beds are just to irresistible. Hopefully I'll have more money by the time it comes.
A Kickstarter well funded if you ask me. Glad I got on board.
Strongholds yonan, unless col and Wayne are selling you mantic products . Went with $200 for a stronghold all unincluded addons leaving I think 20 pounds before docking bay... so 12 pounds to cover some clean and infested walls? Dunno about that. And the amazing bunker wall kit for $65ish... just about have to get them though because they seamlessly integrate the stronghold into a normal board with other terrain...
Kroothawk wrote: Nice and smooth kickstarter. Congratulations.
Will add bunker and infected walls with the survey.
Seconded and likewise. I've decided... go hard or go home. Or more accurately, go hard and stay home because you can't afford to go out. Or eat.
Snrub wrote: I may just crumble and purchase 1 each of the add-ons.
Some addons are too good to get just one I think. Docking bay and the elevators/windows for example. Maybe the locksers and bunk beds too. That said, I'm operating on the assumption of 4x strongholds.
I'm not sure what to do, I've got $200 to cover a single stronghold shipping and addons... not nearly enough after bunker... but bunker doubles the effectiveness of the set allowing for smaller buildings worked into an existing table instead of just a floating interior. I may get over clean and infested walls to help lighten the pledge manager burden... but I still want extra turbines and such... Gah!
So I got a crazy idea from the bunker set... Instead of bunker skin... starship skin! Then you can build little space ships and move them around on a larger 8x8 or so board for boarding actions and whatnot Make faithful representations of the kestrel and other FTL ships and battle them out in full-on 28mm glory Hell, once I've got all of this and have the bunker walls in hand, perhaps I'll have a go at making my own if they haven't already come up with it
Starship is going to be awesome for scenarios, expands the usability of the set substantially. imo so long as you have enough walls, the floors are far less important since you can just print out a floor on paper imo for 90% of the quality/effect.
FTL was an awesome game, I played the hell out of it and still play it occasionally - you see we're getting a free expansion soon? Also, have you played any of the mods? Was fun playing with the Enterprise ; ) I started to make some Eve ships in it... I fkn love Rifters for example, but I got sidetracked and didn't finish it.
Oh.... gak.... mods? Crap, there goes my free time once I get around to checking those out =/
I love the bajeezus out of FTL. I still have some achievements to get (grr crystal cruiser, someday!) and am super excited about the expansion. What do you want when you are playing the older zelda and megaman games? More of the same. Plz thx.
I had half a mind to build a 28mm scale Kestrel and line the inside of it with batlezones, but I think it would now be so much easier to do it up out of battle systems tiles.
If you treat each square section of the Cruisers as a 1" square, it wouldn't take many floor tiles at all,to build the interiors. Not sure if the walls would allow you to use so few tiles though, might have to break the squares into 4" sections instead but then each room of the ship is 8"x8" instead of 2"x2"... I think the perfect size is somewhere inbetween but what can you do. I will have to mess around with this once the rewards arrive
*EPIPHANY! There *is* a reason 'gak' and 'feth' are so prevalent on this forum, it's autocorrect from some kind of language filter. Good god the world makes sense again!*

There's some good ones! I wish the game supported mods better since it's pretty cumbersome to implement them, but they *do* work and some people have put in the effort to make them. From the addition of new ships to total conversions, removing the fleet that's chasing you so it's more of a freeform exploration than a race to the end and so on.

I still have some to get too, but I did work hard to unlock some of the rarer ones, like the... crystal one? Where you get the staisis pod, then try to luck out and find the rock guys that send you to a place that hopefully you find in a subsequent nebula or something.

Should be very doable with Battle Systems terrain I think, and yeah the boparding actions were great. Z'zor would make great Mantis, Teratons would make decent Rock men and so on : )

Yep, will use this as a reference for future KS's. Mantic = problems with communication. Dreamforge = awesome but huge delays. Defiance/Defiant? = Possibly not receiving goods. Battle Systems = perfect.
Battle systems = perfect *so far*. I don't foresee delays, but yknow, don't jinx us
You have to find the pod, then have the right type next system within a couple of systems to *potentially* house the second event... and THEN get the right type of next system AND event. Its RNG x3-5, pretty hard to get those stars to line up especially while trying to survive
Extra ships could be neat, and taking out the race portion would virtually turn it into Oregeon Trail in Spaaaa'aaaace, which is fairly awesome
Your engineer got hypercrabs from the last pleasure planet, you had to eject the core, distress signal on? Your away party was savaged by laser wolves, none survived. You lost a Nacelle fording the black hole. If FTL wasn't already so close I'd be sorely tempted to try my hand at the "Orion Trail"
Project Update #38: Tool Testing... Surveys and Pledge Managers
Posted by Battle Systems Ltd ♥ Like
Hey all,
We have been busy as always and the main focus has been on tools and getting the pledge manager sorted.
Pledge Manager
We can confirm that the pledge manager we are using is Backer Kit, this should make everything nice, smooth and generally easy to follow for the post KS scramble. We should have this up a running in the next two weeks. As a rough date we are still planning on closing the pledge manager (above named Backer Kit) on the 31st Jan, but might be able to keep it open a little longer, only time will tell.
We will give a full run down of what you need to do when we send it out )
Tool Testing
So far we are half way through drawing all the tools we need. We have 17 tools in total now and this is 7 more than the original 10 we had planned... cool.
However even though we are still drawing the tools, we have actually already had two tools made and these are finished and have been used to cut our first test samples. The samples (just 'white copies'- no image) have already been shipped and are somewhere between China and the BSL studios as I type. )
When they arrive I will unpack, fully test and then adjust or, if correct, start sending the other tools we have drawn so far out to China. The two tools we have had made are the 'Walls' and the 'Room Items'
Crates are part of the white tests
V-Consoles too
...and Conduits
... plus walls and some other bits. )
Expect pictures of the white copies in the next update. )
Other than that, not much else to say... we are just ploughing through the work and generally it's heads down and focus. lol

BackerKit rolling out soon

We're beavering away here at Battle Systems Towers (the home of BS and everything is bang on schedule. We've been working on the new re-tools (making the accurate even more accurate) and designing the new stuff.
To make sure we stay on schedule we need you, the backers, to fill out the BackerKit pledge manager before 1st February 2014. We will be rolling out the BackerKit in a few days so expect an invite in your email.
BackerKit is very easy to useBackerKit is very easy to use
You'll be able to login, update your address details and choose your add-ons. Those who've paid up fully will find that they have 'credit' to spend on add-ons. Choose wisely Late backers (those who jumped in after the KS or pledged for the £1 reward tier) will be in 'debit' ie they'll need to add funds. It all makes sense when you see it.
You'll be able to login and and out as much as you want up to the manufacturing stage. We will be 'locking down' the BackerKit on February 1st 2014 when we'll be giving our manufacturers their final orders. In order to get the stretch goals you will have to jump in and pay in full, before this date of 1st Feb 2014. Those who pledged during the KS are already guaranteed their stretch goals of course. Well done you
After the BackerKit is locked on the 1st Feb it may open again later in the year if we have stock to offer or/and new items. This means we may be able to offer the Stronghold set again if you require another set or could not jump in before the 1st Feb. However as noted above there will be no Stretch goals or free items as listed on the KS. These will be basic sets, but still be totally awesome. ;o)
A note on postage: please double check your postage is paid up. This will save a lot of time for us. Also, the late backers need to make sure they purchase either an Outpost, Station, Stronghold or Hulk, not just add-ons. This is purely so we don't get screwed into the ground paying for postage!
A note on BackerKit: please note that the reward levels differ slightly as the UK postage is included in the price. The international postage (Rest of World) has the UK postage subtracted. The final cost to you is the same.
For example, the Stronghold Sweet Spot pledge is £70 on Kickstarter with £8 shipping to the UK and £16 to RoW. On BackerKit it is £78 for the UK and £8 shipping RoW. On reflection we should have included the UK postage from the start but this was our first Kickstarter and the learning curve is steep! Again, it all makes sense when you see it.
Here's a handy INFORMATION ONLY page you can look at if you don't want to keep looking at the KS page:
Information only page that details pledge levels and add-onsInformation only page that details pledge levels and add-ons
Finally, a few people have pre-arranged to pay via PayPal. The BackerKit won't be much use to you so you will need to contact us directly so we can add you in manually. Just choose what you want and we will invoice you. Please, no more PayPal requests, it's truly a pain in the bum!
Enjoy Christmas (if you celebrate it) and know that we're busy slaving away and ignoring our families for you, our beloved backers
Wayne and Colin.
P.S. Final terrible joke of the year:
Darth Vader: Luke, I know what you've got for Christmas.
Luke: How?!
Darth: I felt your presents....
Sneak peak of the next update ) - FIRST WHITE SAMPLES )))))))
Couple of tweaks needed, but In short... they are good )Couple of tweaks needed, but In short... they are good )
Full report next update- Over and out we now take Xmas day off..... ZZZZZZZZZ
Well I want the bunker set so I can make standalone interiors for say Infinity and the like... couldn't add them to the original pledge, now maybe they will make the cut after birthday rolls around
You're not wrong. I'm hoping Deadzone terrain can look good with some basic airbrush basecoating, stenciling and sponging on weathering. But the Battle Systems terrain will blow away whatever I (and maybe you) can be bothered doing for our Deadzone terrain looks wise. So yeah, 100% agreed ; )
Still looking forward to that 6x4 table! Was also thinking... could be a 6x4 table of deadzone terrain - and since battle systems comes with its own flooring... the table could end up something like 10x4 with 4 strongholds ; p
Muahaha, nice! I still only will be getting one stronghold, but lots of goodies to flesh it (and my DZ table) out.
I'm still considering brush-on-dipping my DZ tiles after I've done as you said airbrush-->pick out other colors-->sponge action. We'll see what I can do, typically with terrain having lots of it makes up for any individual imperfections
Not sure where you got credit for free stuff from. All I saw was:
- Backers get what they pledged for. The survey will let them say exactly what they pledged for.
- Backers get more rewards than retail purchasers will, as retail don't get the free addons from stretchgoals.
