Pulp City is a skirmish level tabletop game using superheroes as the theme. They have begun their Kickstarter to produce two new teams to expand the game. (Pics to come)

Funded! 2 hours into the campaign, and its funded. Also well on its way to the first stretch goal.

Looks to me like its the new version of the cards, which would be added to many of the levels for free.

Edit: I was wrong. Free leader cards that will give benefits to your team.

Someone has been playing stretch goal shenannigans as the 25K stretch goal has been unlocked, but the current total is 24 and a bit.

Still. A couple more Grimms have been unlocked, along with a new chapter in the core book about large monsters rampaging through the city

Oh I just noticed that the first of the stretch goals based upon number of backers has also unlocked, which is another Grimm

They have said in their comments section that they are not very likely to create large monsters. They included the monster rules both to have players be able to stage that type of comic hero fight and to allow you to bring out your own collection. Forgeworld daemons and 'nids need new blood?

Oh, but there is this little kit they have on their website already:

I use print and play stuff. Put in cardstock into the printer, crank out the cardstock buildings, the streets, and go for it.

There is a good batch of it over at Drivethru, as well as that, there is a few resin companies that make some good buidings/ cities stuff.

These guys ring a bell for me.

http://www.terranscapes.com/

http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/

http://www.kobblestone.ca/

http://www.matakishi.com/makingbuildings.htm

There is a good bunch of it over at thier website, as well.

http://pulp-city.com/

http://forum.pulp-city.com/

The fan-made material is there for you to create your own cards for your OWN superheros, as well.

They have a really good game system that reminds me of COH on the table.

Cheapest is the cardstock stuff. Print it off in your printer, put it up on the table with a couple of things, and there you go.

And- the figures interact with the terraign.

Couple of dinosaurs, put in a giant robot, add in a bus load of civilians getting ready to get thrown off a cliff.....

I've got a bunch of reporters that I throw in there every once in awhile for a laugh to kill.

Ninjas, undead hordes, ape minions, robots, street punks, etc....whatever you want to put in there works.

That's close to how its going to work.

There will be a few set "builds" for minions (lower level models that are very limited in actions). Pulp Monsters (the producers of Pulp City) encourage you to use your own models to represent those minions.

This is also true of the monster section in the book.

They are planning on releasing an additional set of rules in the future that will allow you to build your own Supremes, minions, and monsters.

Well, its pretty clear they want to focus on this book and expanding the model sets to have fairly even factions (amongst those that are already established). So, that pretty much takes this year.

So, I'd guess a new rulebook next year? But, honestly, there's nothing set except the drive to do so. These guys have spent over 2 years getting ready for this Kickstarter and new book/ruleset, so they'll only do the next one when its ready.

Post by: Mecha_buddha

Does anyone know if they are using the same printer as the previous rulebook? Many people including myself had the printed section fall out of the hard cover. This was with light use (weekly games 5 weeks in a row).

The previous iteration of rules was not a fit with my group and we noticed a slant towards team building that always favored bricks/powerhouses. I suppose I have a month to research the new rules to see if they get any of my money.

I have a gak load of velociraptors from Tamya,

http://www.tamiyausa.com/items/plastic-model-series-20/1-35-scale-dinosaur-diorama-15000/velociraptors-diorama-set-60105

Giant Robots

http://www.gundamkitscollection.com/2013/04/hguc-1144-gm-light-armor-customized.html

Dinosaurs, Cyclopse, and dragons from Schleich and Safari LTD, that fit the bill.

http://www.schleich-s.com/en/US/toys/prehistoric_animals/

http://safariltd.com/collection/collectionproductlist?collection_id=15&group_id=4

Then the zombie hordes. Punks, and Apemen..... Oh my.

Then the Reaper Superheros, animorph troops, giant bugs, etc. for The Island of Doctor Moreau, as well as the Apemen from Crooked Dice and the Chuhlu figures from Black cat bases and RAFM......

http://www.reapermini.com/

http://blackcatbases.com/

http://www.rafm.com/

As well as anything else you can think of, The game has rules to add anything you want into it.

ARC is one of the better crews to run with, as well. sick in that King Kong ape, and start crushing skulls...

The Giant monster rules are bad assed, and you can pretty much use anything you want in there, from giant rats, to dinosaurs, to robots, to Cthuhlu, to the giant bugs. There is one particular cat named Mysterious Man, who has a little buddy Xenobi that hangs out with him, and he can pull out dinosaurs for his troops.

Theres another guy by the name of Hellsmith who has Spartans as his troops.

and then there are the ninjas, sentrybots, and citizens......

Did I mention that I love this game?

Favorite easy cheesy run is to take a level 1 hero and go at it with a couple of gang bangers or mooks on the street. Easiest run you can do with the rules that you can get people playing and interested in. Then you build on it from there and add in teams and such.

@Vertrucio: anything in particular you are looking for?

So far, the KS has raised enough to print a new book (beta rules can be seen at their website http://pulp-city.com/downloads-2/), created a full new faction (Grimm) that is mostly included in the $90 pledge, funded the creation of a new Supreme type called powerhouses ($15 each add-ons from the KS, likely $25 retail, and sculpts for 2 are already on the FB), and finally been able to add new characters to the existing factions.

Sum up: lots of add-ons to the existing game.

After a few more unlocks, the goals are to introduce a LOT more characters/models for the underrepresented Factions; Forgotten (ancient supernatural beings), Gaia (angry nature spirits), Supreme Alliance (Avengers knock-offs), and Star Voyagers (intergalactic alliance).

New Update:
Currently 41 backers are in for the Collecter's Pledge, which is every Pulp City model produced (including 4 limited editions) plus every new unlocked mini. The model count as of now is 141 (making it $4.26 each) including the two massive models (those are 80mm bases).

Image blow is all models already produced for Pulp City; add on all the unlocked models from the KS to see the Collector's Pledge.

No switches allowed sadly. The company is literally 4 guys on 2 different continents who put together this game outside of their normal jobs. Extremely dedicated guys, but the effort to customize all those orders would be prohibitive.

NEWS FOR THE DAY!!!
If you've been on the fence, get in the game!
Monday is the last day to get another free add-on model:

In addition, they have added a new pledge (You Asked for It!) that gives all the free unlocks with 1 starter and 1 value pack. That's $5 more than the Supreme for 2 additional models.

There aren't too many direct matches, what with copyrights and such. But, here's a few:

Supreme Zed=Superman
Wonder Wight=Wonder Woman
Perun=Thor (appearantly Perun is the highest Slavic god, more closely Zeus than Thor)
Skyline=Daredevil
Wildman=Wolverine (Logan IS a scottish name)
Amok=Hulk
Feartigo=Scarecrow
Arquero=Hawkeye/Green Arrow

The Grims also have LOTS of homages (Toxic Avenger, Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee, Magneto, 300 SPartans)

And (soon, hopefully) there's the plan to remake the entire original Avengers as the Supreme Alliance:

No idea yet. They're going through concepts for the Forgotten, ancient evils like minor gods and spirits, and that should take 30k or so. After that MIGHT be the Alliance. They've been pretty quite about it. But that pic is from their fcebook

Yep. What's the worst, they don't make it and you pull the pledge? Deals too good to pass.

And the game has become my favorite in the last year. Action points, alternating play, super heroes and thousands of combos.

They've been working on the SA for a quite a bit now.

From the early progress, it is really cool to see how they've been fleshing out the concepts.

The pics are in the forum. They've been working on this team for a few months now.

First guy is a giant radioactive armadillo named A Beast. ( big brawler type.)

Second Capt America type guy is Spybreaker. ( scrapper type/ shield type)

Third guy is a Fire/ Water/ Chemical guy named Coldfire.( area effects weapons)

fourth guy is a Armor set, named Battlesuit 7. ( Armored suit. Big guns Jetpack.)

Fifth member is a aquatic female, named Aquanaut ( looks like another scrapper with a trident, or maybe some kind of a dangerous hips thing going there. One things for sure, shes a knockout. )

Sixth member is another Stars and Stripes type, is in an ongoing name her contest going on. Back in the day, She'd probibly be something like Lady Liberty, or Liberty Belle, or something. Me? I think i'd just call her, "Hey, you! Girl with the good looking... guns! and the nice T!@#s"
Some might even want her to be called Martha Washington, her pornstar name.

I added the forum link, because there is a lot of ongoing information hidden in there amongst the chaff. They've been working on them for a few months to a year now.

Going to be a pretty bad assed team, as well.

LOL!

What are you doing in that silly skin suit? That Grimm looks like Frank the Rabbit.

really looking good to see a few more grims, any more word on the extra souls for 100 voices? His pack needs some extras.

I can think of a few of the figures from Wierd that would fit right in there. Chompy, the ghosts, a few of those little snackers from pandora, maybe even baby Kade himself... nothing wrong with giving the necroplane a little back up.

Best thing about this game is the total versitility that you have with the figures you can use.

I'm fairly optimistic and think its highly possible.

Check Kicktraq for similar-sized companies and their KS successes, particularly with last three days. Red Box Games, Wrath of Kings, High Heavens, Imbrian Arts, etc, all have good money and new pledges at the end of the campaign.

Let's pull for Pulp City to do the same.

Most of those campaigns weren't bleeding backer or funds heading into the final five days though.

But as previously noted, 100K (give or take) might the ceiling for this one - and that's OK too.

So, I got up this morning ready to post a pic of the Mechaspartan art, and I find the silhouettes of the whole Forgotten range have been previewed:

Pretty sure, from left to right, that is:
Stygian: both a leader and powerhouse, able to switch between stats during the game
Mr. Kraken: described by the PM guys as a gentlemanly Cthulhu
Lady in Red: pictured above
Mechaspartan: pictured below
Phalanx: mechaspartan on steriods?
Scarab: possible mummy-like being

The Pulp Monster staff has the rest of these unlocks listed from $90k to $115k, but are talking about restructuring and bringing them into the campaign at lower unlocks.

Get over there and pledge!

Oh, and that mechaspartan, in blueprint art form:

At $83K now with a little under 2 days to go...

I'd love to get all of these in, but I don't see it happening.

IF some of the 'freebies' weren't of the 'Grimm' variety, I think you'd see more of a 'traditional' last few days spike here, but as it is, I don't think we will.

$100K would be a stretch - never mind $115K to unlock the entire "Forgotten"!

If you have not played the game yet, just wait. After only a few months working with it, Pulp City has become my favorite tabletop game ever.

I'm a big fan of Action Points (a la Infinity), and the tactical play of alternating models between players during the turn makes you think beyond 40k's massive dice throwing, and more chess-like, planning moves ahead of time.

Just make sure to have some scatter terrain around, cause throwing barrels, cars, and vending machines is not only cool, but highly effective.

3 or 4 figures, a bunch of mooks and some civilians makes for a pretty cool day. 2 X 2 board, or a 3 X 3 and fill it with city stuff, or woodline, or a park, or Atlas, or what ever you want, and throw in a couple of heros, and villians, the sidekicks and troopers, ( which you only need around 5-10) and they get thinned out pretty quick.

Rules are available, and the stuffs in play, as well as the prety big selection by now of figures and stuff on thier website that you can really get into this game with.

Takes about a half hour with a few guys in there. its fun, and theres so much you can do that you get hooked in quick.

The Lady In Red Unlocked!
Comment
5 likes

If this Lady in Red is dancing with you, be very, very afraid. Hellsmith and Boreas were but the vanguard of the Forgotten, and now these dark gods have broken through to terrorize Pulp City. A dark shadow has fallen as they encroach, and the Lady in Red guides their way.

Lady in Red is a Level 2 Support Supreme, a dark succubus whose own clothing is a living demonic entity. Be afraid, be very afraid...

And regarding the Supreme Alliance:

(Leon) @Brad: We are planning the SA campaign to be a shorter thing. It will have the SA, and some suitable villains as the core goals.

Build your own will be its own project - that is going to be huge as it can't just be a book v]can it...?

Pulp City, to me, is the best skirmish game right now. Best superhero game on the market at all, but also really tightropes overall. Game creation is quick but super variable, as there are only two choices, hero or villain with 140is minis to choose from. And some can be hero or villain based on your choice.

Action point system lets you be flexible, moving models multiple times I needed. Fatigue does put a limit so you can't do the Infinity Rambo. You really need to make you team work as a team.

I cannot say enough good stuff about it.

Oh, and another stretch goal passed. Lets take it to 100k, get two more supremes and another free model!

Stygian Slithers Forth
3 comments

The dark queen of ancient evils Stygian is here in all her dark glory. As the Leader of the Forgotten Stygian is a Level 3 Supreme. When the need arises though, Stygian sheds her mortal confines and reveals her true form. At will she can transform into a Level 3 Powerhouse and bring pure wanton destruction to her foes. For the Kickstarter exclusive price of $25 you get both forms of the Stygian.

I'm a BIG fan of INFINITY, so to hear Pulp City favorably compared to it is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I like this 'fatigue factor' too for helping to minimize the Rambo Factor!

The Forgotten Faction's Phalanx and Mecha-Spartans are up next at the "I didn't think we'd even get close to it" $100K level!

A great finish to the Kickstarter! Over $105K, and even though we didn't quite hit 500 backers, we're still getting the Grimmbiote.

I went in whole hog in for 600.

I've been a fan of the game since the beginning, and waiting for the project for quite a bit. I haven't had a chance to play much lately, but I'll probibly be going in on my COH/ COV boards when I get back in.

Started it last year, but got a bit side tracked with real life getting in the way.

This was a real boost for the game, and a really great way to do it, as well.

No doubt!

Now I really do have to start building up a modern/super-hero board.

What's the standard table size for a game of Pulp City?

3' x 3'?

Post by: drazz

Table size is 2x2 to 4x4, depending on scale of game. Devon is pushing level 12 as the standard, and I think that's what they used at the Gencon tourney. I would use at least 3x3 for level 12. You want to get into the action, but not prevent movement.

Things similar to Infinity I like:
Action point pool
Opposed dice rolls
Small number of models
Simple stats and a variety of load outs on the models

Things added above Infinity gameplay that I like:
Fatigue system
Faction optional
More dynamic melee
Variet of action points by model
Alternating turns
All models of relative power (no Metro vs TAG issue)

Things missing from Infinity that change the game:
Reactive turns
Link teams
Over watch/speculative fire

This kickstarted was a fun ride. Now I can´t wait to get my hands on some miniatures and start painting.

What do you think, which level is a good level to start the game? I was considering something between 6 and 8.

Pulp City is going to be giving us regular updates on things.

First up:

Update #69

Progress Thursdays #1

Dear Citizens,

as promised, we will be delivering to you weekly updates until the last box is shipped from our warehouse.

First week is hectic, we had to divide and line up all creative work (scupting and painting) and nominate project managers for the book, the cards and the miniature production. This way we all know our responsibilities. All is looking bright, with sculptors meant to deliver final pieces in May.

The usual bottleneck is the display painting as it holds the card printing but we hopefully worked out a good plan A and a back up plan if painters get lazy

So what's to see this week? One of our Genesis backers, Ross, worked hard on his model and here we are, presenting you.... Attean!

If all goes well, maybe we can incorporate Attean into the add-on form and Collector Level pledges. No promises yet, but maybe we can find a little spot in the production schedules.

Hope you like him!

Update #70

An "oops" Update, sorry Antaean!

Note to myself, don't post updates before the first coffee!

The character's name is Antaean and it's ancient Greek for "gifted with superhuman strength".

At least that gives us a chance to preview another of the concept pictures that Ross sent.

I would start fairly low, starter level. So, 6 levels sounds about right.

And I would start without minions, leaders or powerhouses. Those are basically add-on layers that make for a steeper learning curve. Do some straight up fights; game ends when one side is Ko'ed. Get used to the basic game (Action points, fatigue, combat) then bring in those extra layers of game play with Leaders, Powerhouses, minions, and Plots and Agendas.

I'm going to try to fit a con in a couple months and demo. I'll only use Supremes (no minions or Powerhouses) and keep the level to 4 just to give players a taste of the system.

+1 to this idea

This is the best way to get a handle on the rules, and get you in the mode of learning your hero/ villan powers and effects, because things get pretty confusing in the mix, and then you add in the extra distracts, you lose ... opportunities with the fight.

Game is really pretty complex, if you get three or four heros going at it, then add in that you can effect terraign, add in minions, zombies, giant robots, or whatever... and your going to see how the distractions set in.

Hi guys,
thanks for the answer. I have the old starter boxes at home. So I could start painting them up till September. And if I stay with Lvl. 6 I´d like to play:

Heroes: Iron Train, Solar, Ace of Wraiths
versus
Villains: Guerilla, Hellsmith, Twilight, Gentleman

What do you think. Are those good starting opportunities?

Michael

Best thing about those boxed sets it gives you is the broad range of types of heroes/ villians. they have different abilities, and they are good to try out and flex on each other.

Then you'd end up adding in some others for support, and counters. They have some heavy hitters in there, and you can have some really good spreads of games with that batch.

Iron Train is a good tank, Ace is a good follow on sidekick type, for the bonus. Guerilla is... a gorrilla with a machinegun. whats not to like there?

Then you have 2 shooters, Gent, and Guarrilla who can sweep fire all over the field, with Twighlight as a good follow up/ finisher. Hellsmith is the villian tank, as well.

Good batch there.

Good Morning Citizens,

glad to report we are not slowing down.

Sculpting: we are still aiming at having 99% of the stuff sculpted in May, that will give us enough time to cast and paint everything.

Here's a couple of new pieces, including a phenomenal rendition of Ross' Antaean (he is a big boy at 45 mm!).

Also, some love for Minions and Heavy Metal. M.O.D. is still a wip.

Rules: Next week we will post all of the Supremes in a word file - so you can play with them. They will be in various stages of development, from final to post initial playtests. The rules are done and we are currently polishing the fluff bits.

See you next week!

If my count is right, Pulp City needs to sculpt 63 (at least) new miniatures this (half) year.

Six for the starters are done.
Grimmsham is done.
Five of the Powerhouses are done (Cro Mag, Ruth, Gorgoroth, Soul Golem, Amok).
Three minions are done. (Ankle Biters and MOD)
One Genesis model is done. (Antaean)

Mind you, the first 7 models were done pre-KS, but at only 2 weeks into the production phase, I think a Sept deliver looks like an actual possibility.

Cards are out next week for Beta. They will be used.

*shrug*

I had started the KS thread. Would have made a news thread when I thought it was relevant, but someone just changed the name and kept the thread. Its 6 of one, half-dozen of the other to me. Lets just keep talking PC!

Did you guys read that he's a 40mm Powerhouse that flies? Sounds pretty awesome already.

Will be interesting to see if he's in a faction, or even if he's hero or villain. Given the Latin root for his name, it's possible he's going to work with he Forgotten?

--100 Voices is listed
--Slug Moldoo listed
--all the Powerhouses and Grimm
--none of the new non-Supremes (Wonder Wight, White Tiger, etc)
--Red Bella is not a Leader

More to come as I read...

Hello Citizens,

today we got two big (or small) items for you to update:

First, below you will find the link to the most Supremes and Minions for the SE. These are still not final, we are playtesting them like crazy, especially the batches unlocked through Kickstarter. There will be some changes (for instance, all big Powerhouse OVR moves will cost 2 Fatigue now). Test them out, play with them and let us know what you think!

http://pulp-city.com/files/PC%20SE%20Supremes%20post%20KS.pdf

Second, all Grimminions save for the KS exclusive one are done and we post them with Gentleman and a standard size grimm.

Enjoy and see you next week,

Maciej

Hello Citizens,

some assorted news for our favorite day of the week!

First, good news for our French fans (and some Canadian, Belgian and others). We are teaming up with Cortizone Games to bring you the French rules translation as well as a distribution network in France! Merci!

Second, we started working with good folks at Warsenal to bring you the Pulp City tokens. It is something that will happen after the delivery of the KS, but we are looking forward to it! Check them out at http://warsen.al/ .

Third, our dropbox is constantly flashing with updates as Melvin puts together all the new cards. We are almost done with them, though a lot of them will have to wait for painted miniature pictures.

Just a sample of what we got coming (notice the double faction allegiance!):

Last but not least, we know you love miniature updates, well, this week treat this as a creativity assignement and interpret this picture!

Until the next week,

Maciej

Lucky 7!

Welcome to the pre-Easter update. We have a couple of great news bits for you.

Pledge Manager:

We are posting links to pledge manager files before we post them through the Kickstarter tool.

Play with them, plan with them and get ready for when they ship officially. File names are corresponding with the pledge levels, for instance if you took 90$ Supreme pledge, download the file ending with 90.

Shoot us up with any questions you may have.

Minis:

We've completed most of the small miniatures and powerhouses, now moving on to human sized ones.

We love how the hover cats turned out. They will come with separate miniguns sprue as we have some extra plans for the flying felines for the future.

And how do you like Gravito and Mutant Mobsters? I think we are pretty spot on with the art to the sculpt translation!

Art

While Melvin is working hard on cards and the book, we invited Liam C, the Ulthar artist, to join us on re-drawing the Kitharion concept and creating some stunning art pieces for the book. Yay!

Rules

We are adding the last few small corrections to the rules and closing the improvement process - it's all in Melvin's hands from now on.

Have a great Easter time if you celebrate it and if not, have a great weekend!

Hello Citizens,

the spring exploded with colors in here and it seems this time it's not going away!

Time to show you some colors - Jolly Roger Studio team is working hard on all paintjobs save for grimm - I left that pleasure for myself.

Though technically not unlocked via KS, Papa Zombie is a part of the Coven pack so worth showing!

Now, to complete the grimm, here's the last two (I think - save for Grimmbun Bun).

Having painted already 5 of the new grimm, I gotta say I love these guys!

Yesterday we've delivered another huge batch of sculpts to MaxMini for casting resin prototypes. As planned, we should be done with all sculpting early May.

Once again, thanks for all the great feedback so far!

Maciej & The Team

I'm still not sold on the "Grimms" but maybe they'll grow on me eventually...

I dislike them less now that I'm seeing the sculpts, but they aren't my comic flavor. But, that's a valid point to their inclusion--Pulp Monsters have worked to have as many comic themes as possible in their game, from Space Aliens to Techno-heroes to Undead Walkers to Comedic Creations.

Again, Grimms are not really for me, but I can imagine they have the right feel some some others out there.

Hello Citizens,

the long weekend is here and a chance to invest more time in finishing up the fluff entries.

The cool thing about the fluff for Supreme Edition is that it is written from the perspective of a certain organization that watches our Supremes from afar and rarely intervenes.

But when they do...

That gave us a chance to order some new art and boy, you will have some fun seeing it in the next week's update.

So what's in for today? The Forgotten that didn't get forgotten. We are almost done with sculpting them, Stygian remaining. We are also finalizing the rules for them and they are a lot of fun, bringing something very unique to the table.

The big boy, Phanlanx (probably the biggest Support Supreme, nice change of pace from Virus, M.O.D. or other tinies)

And the finished picture of Wonder Wight, if you are more of a zombie Supreme type of a person

Enjoy the spring weather and gather energy for painting all these beauties in the fall!

Maciej & The Team

"Phanlanx" (?) is a nice looking miniature!

According to Maciej there are only 11 more sculpts to finish for the KS. I'm not sure if he's including the Supreme Genesis characters or not in that tally.

This thursday look for the pics of the upcoming leader for the Forgotten, Stygian.

Yay, welcome to the 10th (anniversary?) edition of our Progress Thursdays!

Yesterday I've asked you on the Facebook which model preview would you like to see. First vote went to Stygian so there she is, in both of her forms:

I tried to keep the proper scale between the two. Just imagine your opponent surprise when Stygian sheds her human guise and assumes her true form!

May is the month of fluff for us, as we are doing some heavylifting for the Infinite Hourglass.

These guys run a full dossier on each team and Supreme in Pulp City but we do the writing! This should give you some insight into the future - we cover not only the already known Supremes but some future additions as well. As a teaser, here's some new internal art for the book, showing one of the Infinite Hourglass time travelling assassins, Herald.

See you next week!

Good Morning Citizens,

first, thanks to all that turned in their Pledge Manager, the sooner we got them, the faster the production may begin. Also, thank you for the questions and emails, as you know, we try to answer them asap.

We had a super busy week with the Manager but to set ourselves in a good mood, we started the week with a lengthy discussion on the storyline direction and boy, did we let the creativity flow. We need to set up in a way that teases the Next Big Thing in Pulp City.

A part of the big debate were the grimm, which, according to the Infinite Hourglass analysts, pose only a minor threat to the Universe. Those Heralds might be in for a surprise, cause not even Stygian is so close to the certain object of desire as they are.

So naturally, the today's picture update is a great paintjob of Grimmsham by Jolly Roger Studios.

Stay tuned for more updates and if you haven't done your pledge manager yet, it would be great if you could

If you cannot get the Spreadsheet to work just email us the details of your order at Kickstarter@Pulpmonsters.com and we will handle it for you. A little bit of a surprise showing on Facebook. Amok and White Tiger fresh from casting:

According to Maciej, most of the models will be single pieces, including the powerhouses like Amok. He's also going to go with resin on some of those that he can get as single pieces, including Amok, Soul Golem, Cro Mag and Gorgoroth.

Good Day, Citizens,

we are 3 days away from the FINAL pledge manager day. Most are in, thank you, some people still savor the pleasure of adding more PC stuff! What happens if you miss it? We may have a hard time delivering your order on time and Karol will have to spend more nights in our basement warehouse with limited food rations. Do you really want it?

Next week we finalize the production numbers and make a final call on the medium to use for some of the Powerhouses. I keep holding my thumbs for resin and I say this after almost finishing resin Amok for my collection. Yay! These things are so huge, it makes much more sense but may slow down production a bit. Producing circa 20 000 minis - there is a lot to take into account.

Take care and see you next week! Maciej & The Team

Howdy Citiziens,

The pledge manager turn-in date is past us but we are still missing quite a few. If you got any doubts how to do it or why are you receiving reminder emails, please re-read update 82 and then if it is still not clear, please contact us at kickstarter (at) pulpmonsters.com!

Remember that we keep Karol in the basement until we get all pledges sorted out.

Early next week, last of the sculpts should go for resin master casting and we will be ready for the mass production. We are all good with the miniatures. I also received the word from Q-Workshop that the dice are being packed this weekend. We almost know the final pagecount for the book, so in June we'll get final quotes for printing and reserve a production line spot. Hopefully not many companies print books in the summer!

You want pictures? OK, I am in a very voodoo modes, so here you are (Mambo we'll have some slight production adjustments):

Stay tuned and cheer for your teams in the World Cup! Maciej & The Team

Howdy Citizens,

after a busy week of (mostly) production research, we've made some major progress in a couple of areas. We have an online folder marked as Final Cards and as new pictures of painted miniatures showed up, the folder filled up nicely. Here's a couple of findings from the grimm section:

Next on our agenda is making sure that models end up in proper moulds. Each mould is a significant expense so you have to be smart about how the models are distributed. At the same time, various sizes require various temperatures, so if you had say Amok and Supreme Grimm in one mould, the casts would probably not come out that great.

We are going through last pledge managers (If I ever want to write a book, it might be about that), there is a big light at the end of this tunnel.

Stay Pulp,

Maciej & The Team

Howdy Citizens,

this week is a reminder that flying cats with miniguns are a real threat!

Other than that, everything is going ok, as predicted getting all models painted in time for cards photoshoot might be an issue. As we don't want to delay the project, some cards may get monochrome pictures of the sculpts - I think it works better than having to delay the printing.

Stay pulp,

Howdy Citizens,

sorry for one-day slip, I was stuck in the middle of the proverbial nowhere yesterday and finally made it to the land of decent wifi. Holidays! Hopefully somewhere on Earth #24379 there is still Thursday.

Anyways, the final production numbers are up and we are looking at nearly 9000 minis to produce!

They go from the size of a hover cat to the size of the monster. Fortunately most of them are fast-factory productions but we are already starting with them.

I owe you a couple of the last sculpts, I will spread them thin so you can feast your eyes on the weekly basis before we move to some production shots of cards and books.

Have a great weekend!

Howdy Citizens,

today we take a trip to the Powerhouse land. We probably spent the most playtesting time on these guys to keep them in check and balanced and yet capable of winning games. When you play with a Powerhouse, you see that part of their power comes from the pure visual threat that each poses. They are a psychological weapon in addition to everything else they do.

So today we visit the painting workshop of Jolly Roger Studios as well as the sculpting workshop of our super talented Jarek.

Enjoy!

How cool is it to schedule new sculpts for stuff that was never included in the KS?
Oh yes, we'll try to keep you busy after you get your Pulp City KS.

I knew when we were out of the sculpting woods when we received the two items that were finishing the KS sculpting checklist: the Citizens family and Grimbun-bun.

So here they are, sans the dog. Dogs, especially sculpted to the likeness of Devon's pet, deserve a separate update. As you can see, cat based on Leon's cat was never accepted into the hover cats training facility.

Enjoy!

Howdy Citizens,

we are deep in the production process. Let me walk you through one of the changes we made during the process.

Kitharion. Oh boy, did that cat misbehave. We had a difficult time envisioning the original concept as a fully aquatic feline (?). In the initial concept he was supposed to be the mount for an Ulthar warrior but without the rider, it started looking more like a certain cartoon cat that rides to battles, if you know what I mean.

We sent Liam to the drawing board, asking him to come up with a more credible beast and something more fitting the Ulthar line. Here's the result!

Howdy Citizens,

production is in full swing and we are hoping that the most vital item - the book - will jump into the printing press in the last week of August. That would mean majority of the pledges would be out of our gates in September.

Majority, you ask?

Yes, and this is where it gets serious. Nearly 50 backers never responded to the survey or our multiple attemps to contact them in various ways.

What does it mean?
Pledges are locked it and production numbers are calculated. At this point, if you paid for your pledge and shipping and it is a kind of pledge that doesn't require any choices (say Supreme pledge), we'll ship it to you to last registered KS address.

If it requires choices or shipping was not covered, unfortunately that means we are putting your pledge on hold. Once we are done with the initial shipments, we'll revisit other pledges and give you some time to update us on your choices. But since we have post-KS calculations to do, end of the year 2014 will probably be a cut-off date.

On the bright side of things, here are the last paintjobs that will make it on to the cards (some are still WIPs).

Enjoy!
Maciej & The Team

I didn't have the budget for many of the "SUPREME" minis at the time, but I can see myself picking up a lot of them once they're finally available via 'retail'!

So, speaking of Pulp City, Devon has more or less confirmed a Pulp Monster presence at Gencon for 2015, tourney included.

I have never wanted to go to Gencon before. Now its going to be several conversations with the wife to try to convince her I should be allowed to travel across the country to play with little superheroes.

Howdy Citizens!

Ufffff, long week, I am after the pre-last read through the book and I got to tell you, comparing to the 1st Edition book, there is not much to correct. Things are looking good.

As you see, the biggest difference is the font size, it is smaller and it still reads really well in the final print format.

We closed photography of models for cards and the book this week, Gravito and Stygian Queen were the last ones to push their way in.

My yesterday's visit at MaxMini confirmed that work on resin casts of biggies is going well (there is around 150 of each of them) while new metal casts are waiting for silicon to create multiple moulds.

Next week, tune in as we will actively ask you to decide on a very important issue!

Best to you,
Maciej & The Team

The Terrain Links side of World Works Games still exists, I think, even if they bizarro'd out on TerraClips.
http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?view=catalog

So if you want to spend a few bucks on PDF templates for office buildings, that should be a good option.

And if you go through the Infinity resources section, you can't go wrong a super hero fight in a warehouse, right? Plenty of shipping container and crate PDFs to go around.

And.... we have a first September update!

Let me make a quick run through all parts of our project as of 4th of September.

Miniatures: All sculpted, all mastermoulded save for one (we sent Lady in Red for a correction as we weren't satisfied with her details), last mastermould will be done on Monday.

Resin stuff: casting in progress, should be done in two weeks tops. Resin is all manual labor, unless you want some of those restic attrocities. My only concern is Monsters who take a lot of time to cast.

Metal stuff: Casters are awaiting silicon for production moulds (for new stuff), pre-KS stuff is either cast or scheduled for very soon.

Cards: Done and ready to go to print. We had a total of 190 cards to create, test and proofread, that was the biggest challenge of all.

Book: Done and needs a week to go to print (it is mostly assigning proper page numbers to index etc.). We went to town with the quality of this one. Initially we intended to keep fluff part really concise. Right now, you will get a flowing narration that goes through all factions and shows you their angle on a major event happening. It also has short bios on ALL Supremes known and some future. A handy guide to all new players!

Dice: Produced and packed, ready to ship.

So will we be on time? Maybe, if a first package leaves our warehouse by the end of the month. If not, we won't be far behind. When we set up the delivery date for the KS, I added 3 extra month for what we needed to produce the book and starters. But your drive and passion made the KS 10 times bigger than that! Quality always comes first for me, so some things just can't be rushed too much. To sum up, we are not there yet, but very close. I hope the weekly updates are a great proof to you that things are happening and going in the good direction.

Now, here is the final KS credits page. Please check if everything is OK. Kickstarter is pretty brutal when it comes to some data extraction, so most of this had to be done manually. We tried to add everybody (including people that co-funded higher pledges), even the people that still didn't regulate their pledges or/and pledge managers (still around 30 people. Please mind that if we didn't contact you individually, it 99% means you are all set. We tried getting to the stragglers multiple times).

So put on your glasses and look for yourself!

Did you think we expected you to read it here?

Twilight Street Heroic Scale is the one I'd recommend. The other two Twilight Street sets will work if you scale them at 130%, if I recall my experiments. Unfortunately, this means that you'll need to either redo all the files to fit them to more sheets of paper or print them on 11"x17" stock. That's also when you'll discover that the wall sides aren't necessarily consistent, with front and back walls being slightly narrower than each other. Fortunately, they do free demo files for both scales. I recommend Horseman's Deli to start.

Check out the Mayhem line over at WorldWorksGames if you want a building with interiors, or their Swift Scenics line if you just need some rooftops to fight over.. that's what I will be using for sure, but only because after pledging for all those Pulp City minis, I can't afford to buy a table full of Sarissa Precision buildings!

Progress Thursdays #29

For the Pulp Monsters team it is not just about 'what now' in delivering this project, but also 'what next'. Consequently, the new Pulp City SE book is packed full of fluff and will also give hints at new Supremes and Factions headed to Pulp City. Some of these have been hinted at for some time, while we also have some real surprises which we think will blow people away. We have so much planned for the near future and further out, all made possible by your support guys.

But we are committed to delivering this project first before we launch into future projects; we want our amazing backers to fully enjoy what you have helped make happen. Each day and each week we are another step closer to fulfilling backer rewards. And while we do this we are striving to add even more to a game we want you to enjoy, while finishing up the KS work: proofing, heading to printing, having those thousands of minis cast in metal and resin, and working to the fine details of processes to make fulfilment as quick and hopefully painless as possible.

One of the things we had to work out was that we would not have painted minis done in time for all our Supreme and Minion game cards. We mentioned this a while back, and the options were pictures of unpainted resin minis in those cases, or character concept art. The general feedback was largely in favour of art, which is the direction we took. You can see a few examples in this update to show how we will be doing this.

Creator Pulp Monsters about 1 hour ago

(Devon) @Alex the F stands for Freelancer. A Freelance can choose to drop their Faction affiliation and become an Unaligned character. In this case it means Tomcat is a member of Heavy Metal, or can work with Dead Eye as an Unaligned Hero.

PROGRESS THURSDAY!

NEWS FLASH - THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE LATE!

Update #102

Sep 25 2014

Progress Thursdays #30
4 comments

Howdy,

last September update. Obviously the stuff ain't gonna show on your doorstep in the next 4 days. So where are we? I realistically expect everything to happen within the next 2 months - so 10-20% extra time, which is not bad given 1050% more work than the initial goal.

I hope that the next couple of weeks will highlight the production we are doing. We are printing in two batches: one is book (final proofread feedback is being gathered until tomorrow, I am glad that the biggest issue being reported is word "die" capitalized and not capitalized in some rules), the second is everything else. We've increased the scope of this batch by printing custom Pulp City card deck boxes (shipping hundreds of cards in shrinkwrap doesn't really work) and new format of the starter box which also will be the box for some powerhouses. Trust me, Stygian doesn't fit in any blister!

The metal production had to be actually split between Poland and England, which adds some complication but that is all for the sake of the quality. As for resins, the biggest slow down is the Monsters - the model of that size takes so much time to cast and breaks the mold easily if mishandled.

I love treating you to pictures each week, so here's one. A cast of Pulp City's first ever 3D sculpt!

The hand belongs to one of the MaxMini's expert casters (have you checked their Kickstarter project, Green Alliance?). Enjoy!

Howdy Citizens,

Big news: Book jumps into the printing presses on Monday (that is if it gets the approval). The printers are more or less local, so no worries about shipping containers from China (seems to be the key words for a lot of KS we've backed ourselves!).

Now pictures!

I realized we haven't shown you the last 3 minis, so here they are as resin masters.

And finally to comfort your souls, here's some pictures from my last visit at MaxMini, our resin casters.

Take care,

Howdy Citizens,

we are in a very interesting time of this KS - pretty much everything is out of our hands.

Now it is the waiting game.

What's the plan for the upcoming updates?

We can show you all of the Supreme Genesis creations, we are waiting for the approval of the last ones.

New paintjobs as they show up (we got a couple new ones already).

Anything else that you would like to see?
As a dessert, here's a production picture of all the resin masters that are being cast in metal in the UK. The casts will be much higher quality than my digital hand writing!

Update #105

Oct 16 2014

Progress Thursdays #33: Supreme Genesis - Doctor Warlock
Comment
6 likes

Howdy Citizens, and welcome to the first of several special Updates.

One of Pulp City’s most avid supporters, Drew (a.k.a. Doctor Warlock) has been a really strong part of the Pulp City community for years. So it was a pleasure for us to see him back the Pulp City SE project at the Supreme Genesis level. We were excited to see what Drew wanted to come up with, and he didn't let us down!

Drew has had a character named Doctor Warlock feature in a variety of games over the years. The game version of Doctor Warlock has gone through various incarnations, and it was this rich history that concept artist Liam C. was able to draw upon to develop the art piece shown here, which in turn will be used as the basis for the Doctor Warlock sculpt. Following that, with Drew’s input the team has developed a set of rules for the character which we hope reflect his history and give him a unique and deserved place in Pulp City.

Each Supreme Genesis backer came up with a great core concept, and we are as excited as we hope they are to see them develop toward a final package of concept, mini and rules, with five fantastic Supremes waiting to be unleashed on Pulp City. The next few updates will unveil the Supreme Genesis creations, so enjoy this, the first of five very special Supreme concepts.

The Pulp Monsters Team.

Update Thursday is upon us - again!

Update #106 from Pulp City: Supreme Edition
Oct 23 2014

Progress Thursdays #34: Supreme Genesis - Bramble
Comment
Howdy once more Citizens, and welcome back to our series of updates showcasing the Supreme Genesis characters.

The second in our series focuses on Bramble. Bramble was one of the earliest of the five SG projects to take shape. Over the course of a week or so the backer who created Bramble was able to work through a few concepts he was thinking about, and then settled on what would eventually become the Supreme known as Bramble. Bramble’s creator Andrew decided early on that the character would be part of the same Faction as Father Oak and Acorn, and we were happy to support that.

So with a broad concept decided on, rules ideas were floated by Andrew, which Devon built upon to provide a first draft. Andrew was able to refine the draft further with requests to bring Bramble as close as possible to his vision in terms or rules. As this was happening, thoughts turned to the visual of the character, and so Liam C. was engaged to tackle the concept. A few tweaks to the visual design followed at Andrew’s request and what we have from then can be seen below. In fact, the name Bramble was only settled at that time as she had been going by a different name through the process until then!

Going forward, the rules have had further refinement and as at each previous stage will rely on our backer’s vision to be realized. The mini will be sculpted within the next couple of months, and while that happens we hope to get the rules for this character and the of SG projects out to our play-testers to make sure Bramble fits her concept and Pulp City’s game world.

Progress Thursdays #35: Supreme Genesis – Antaean
Comment
10 likes
Howdy once more Citizens, and again to our series of updates showcasing the Supreme Genesis characters, as well as project progress too.

Our third SG preview is Antaean, a character with a growing history. Antaean’s creator has sown the seeds of this character’s history across several projects, from art designs and depictions, to Kickstarter projects like Pulp City and also this, where Antaean will be immortalised in prose:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blake-northcott/final-empire-the-complete-arena-mode-book-series

Ross immediately pitched his idea of Antaean as a Powerhouse Hero for Pulp City, with the idea of his game-play being Hercules with a pinch of Homer Simpson! That certainly gave us a starting point for the rules, and that was really helped by Ross having a clearly defined vision for his character (see below). Ross has been working with the team to try and achieve a balanced hero who will offer something unique to Pulp City and hopefully embody the character that Ross wants on the battlefield!

Now for the update about delivery progress; here is the situation report: we are 85% complete with MaxMini casting (waiting for final Monster castings – those are big, multi-part kits, and we have had a lot of them to complete with the Collector pledges); we get cards from the printer next week; there has been an unexpected delay with our metal caster which we are working hard to resolve, as soon as possible; and we have had perfect proofs for the book, which we approved last week - we didn’t want to speed up this process by skipping proofs, because we are aiming for the best book we can produce and we felt strongly that we did not want to pass that risk of not proofing properly on to our backers. As soon as those remaining parts of the project are on their way back to Pulp Monsters we can give a firm idea of shipping dates.

PROGRESS THURSDAY!

Update #108

Nov 6 2014

Progress Thursdays #36: Supreme Genesis – Rath
Comment
2 likes
Howdy once again Citizens.

This week’s Supreme Genesis up[date concerns Rath, who was described by his creator as a character he plays in a number of role playing games; a martial artist that uses four collapsible spears controlled with his psychic or mystical powers. Robert further clarified him as more of a fast or nimble character, but not really a stealthy assassin type, with close combat being his primary modus operandi, with some ranged attack option.

Armed with the background information, Robert also provided a physical description from which Liam C. was able to develop the broad strokes of the visual concept as can be seen in the picture. Rath’s initial rules were developed from those first concepts that Robert gave us, and as with the other Supreme Genesis backers continue to evolve. We hope to get all of the SG Supremes into play-test soon.

Fulfillment Update

Casting the Monsters is complex because each kit has a form consisting of 9 elements (9 smaller molds). In addition, the body is so large that a particularly large mold is required, and you have to remember that this is only part of the whole model. The molds for the resin parts only last for around 25-30 casts before requiring replacement, and we have 66 pledges with Monsters to fulfill (which is why we could not offer the kit except as part of the Collector’s pledge). Logistically it is and has been a slow and complex process. Delays have come in, but our resin caster has given us assurance that the Monster kits should be cast by the end of November, and as soon as they are, we will let you guys know. In fact, as soon as we have everything else but a few remaining Monsters, we will start shipping and if necessary, worry about delivering some of the Monsters separately. Hopefully it won't be an issue though.

More of the resin casts for other models have been completed, and you can see the results here (even more Giant Hadrons, Stygian Trueforms, Amoks and now Soul Golems):

We also mentioned in or last update delays with our metal caster who has been dealing with large volumes of orders from other customers. One of our team will be arranging to visit with the caster in the next few days to look at quality control as we try and get that order delivered to Pulp Monsters HQ as soon as possible. More next week!

Progress Thursdays #37

Howdy Citizens of Pulp.

Firstly, there is no update for the final Supreme Genesis this week as we wait on amended concept art, however we do have updates about production.

Cards, cards, cards!

Cards are at the printer, which we are awaiting and can be seen above, which will amount to a run of approximately 200,000 cards. We are currently expecting the books next week, and also the minis being cast by Griffin should arrive then (some of the masters for those can be seen below).

We visited with Griffin to look over metal master castings which revealed an issue with one of the Ankle Biter models. This issue was due to the caster of our resin masters creating two copies of the same Ankle Biter which was subsequently sent to Griffin. By picking this up we were able to ensure the resin caster corrects the problem without causing additional delay.

The point of explaining the above issue is that with a project involving several hundred discrete components when you consider books, individual sculpts, dice and individual cards, as well as packaging materials etc., there is and has been lots of potential for delay, and we are working extremely hard to keep any additional delays to a minimum.

As we inch closer to fulfilment we promise and assure you that we will continue to keep you informed. More next week Citizens!

I have my doubts that this one ships in 2014, but I'm still hopeful that it might!

Progress Thursday:

Progress Thursdays #38
Posted by Pulp Monsters

Howdy Citizens,

update from the frontline.

Cards & Boxes: Pretty much everything in here and will be sorted out until the end of the week.

Karol came up with the brilliant system of sorting them. The biggest challenge is that these cards need to be packed "ready to go" for EU& Rest of the World and separately, but easy to combine for the US shipment which will fly to Devon's warehouse.

Please applaud Karol on his awesome work and even more awesome beard!

The cards themselves are gorgeous. If you liked the old ones, you will love these. They are sturdier than most of the game cards we know thanks to the matte foil. And I have to admit - I love the art cards so much, we will need to have a serious talk in which way to go - art or mini picture.

Judge for yourselves!

We found one misprint on cards (Le Murtiple card has a non-matching back and front) but it will be fixed fast.

Books: Just got a tracking number for delivery, so they should be here Fri/Mon latest, I will post the pictures along with the last update.

Miniatures: Every new grey hair - I attribute them to our work with casters. This is the most frustrating experience in my business experience. Words "deadlines" & "communication" don't exist in some dictionaries. Our emails and calls about ETA don't get answered and after 3 attempts stretched over a week, we get a reply "We are hoping moulds will be done this week". Plus an obligatory So between all the "hopes", "believes" and such, I am reduced to just waiting - which really bothers me. In any normal case, I would cancel the order and move on, but starting the process anew is too time consuming. Anyways, next time, instead of going local (as in EU), we may prospect casting in China

Resins are all done (nothing changes here) save for the Monsters. I am starting to work out a backup plan so that it doesn't hold us back when metals arrive. Would any of the collectors be interested in a 50$ refund to skip the Monster from their pledge? Let us know - I will have a separate communication about it.

Anyways, what drives us here is the amazing quality of everything we've gotten so far and we just can't be bogged down and we look forward to the delivery and all the awesome stuff we got lined up for future.

Take care,

Maciej & Team

edit: will add pics in a bit...

Alph--

definitely. And we're still in early stages of mulling a GenCon meet? There will be a Pulp City tourney with creators present.

So, they have the books now...

So, I think that means the KS stands like this:
Book: done, in hand
Cards: done, in hand
Dice: done, in hand
Resin Models: done, in hand (giant monster as an exception)
Metal Models: all sculpted, all mastered, waiting for stock to be met (China!)

Supreme Genesis: all art approved, play testing has started, sculptors hired, greens due by end of year, production assumed to start in March

drazz - Gencon 2015 is still a 'maybe' for me, not sure if I'm going to make that one...

The Supreme Genesis stuff - that shouldn't hold up all the rest of the pledges, right?

So most of us are just waiting on the metal models out of China?

Which of the resins are the "Giant Monsters"?

I just hope they beat CNY 2015!!!

Yeah. Japan gets Golden Week and numerous "happy mondays" throughout the year, S. Korea gets Chusok and Solnol, we get a day here and there. :-(

Sad panda.

Heck, even people in Europe are able to "go on holiday" for a month at a time...

Yeah, we might have 25% sales tax but also a minimum of 5 weeks paid vacation. Damn Norwegians get 6 though, always one-upping us...

OT, when is this going on general sale? No late backer opportunities I take it? Love the theme and the minis.

@Mymearan:
at this point, I doubt there's any chance for late baker options. PM me though, I might have a few more duplicate (or triplicate) minis. Also, make sure you look through for the free pdf's.

@Alpha:
they are not waiting for the Genesis models. Those will have to be made as purchases separately. The only "large monster" is this multi-part behemoth they have had for a while (killing molds along the way is the story; they offered $50 refund for collectors to not get the monster):
http://store.pulp-city.com/products/pm1

I'd like to hope this gets shipped by the end of the year. 2014 that is.

From Maciej:

Howdy Citizens,

just got the info that our metal caster is going to send a package with the bulk of the items tomorrow.

Not all, but a lot. Now, I send an email to inquire if this is a partial fulfillment of all new 29 moulds. If so, then we can hopefully send the big package to Devon for the US fulfillment next week and start the European & Rest of the World shippings. That is the optimistic but also realistic message - if my thesis is true.

It is all very close now!

Second bit of news, within the 7 days expect to receive a link to the rules pdf is this was a part of your pledge! Yay!

Third, if you are a Collector, expect some extra questions about the Monster kit which is still a major pain in TA.

Fourth, I am pleased annouced, that as soon as we are done with shipping, new minis will be released: 100 Voices, Voiclings, Slug Muldoon and Big Foot. As well as Red Baron in metal (collectors, you are getting this guy in your pledge).

Take care and wish us luck with shipments

100 Voices (Lvl 3 Leader; entity made of the souls of 100 inmates hung at the Pulp City prison):

Voicelings (Lvl 1 Brute; comes as three models):

Based on this art:

Couple shots of Slug Muldoon, Intergalactic Big Game Hunter (Lvl 2 Blaster):

Red Baron:

No info on Big Foot.

100 Voices, Voicelings, and Slug all have their Beta cards in the open file from the KS. Those models are also from over a year ago, but have never been produced and sold. Red Baron had been a convention exclusive, maybe a hundred in production.

Howdy,

almost there. Got two shipping confirmation for the rest of the metals from the UK.

50 kg total. That is still not all of it, but once they arrive here tomorrow and Monday, we will be able to send the big box to the US before Christmas. Any time we got left till Christmas is going to be for packing the orders for EU and rest of the world, so that the bulk of them goes out in December. Hopefully all. Apparently, even Monsters will be done, though I will believe it when I see it. At this point, the history of the resins in this project makes me a very very cautious realist.

Thanks for being with us, this is a major learning experience for us - I hope we can put this education into use in the next project.

I want to leave you with a very optimistic image - here's never seen before one of the first releases to come after KS delivery. Canadian & Pacific Northwest friends - we are still not sure which side of the border did this guy come from. All we know is that he knows what grunge is.

Big Foot - all for your pleasure of viewing. Indie Hero, Infiltrator.

Dear Friends of Pulp City,

this is the last update of the year on Thursday! I plan on early next week update with pictures of new items. We are putting together boxes, so next time you hear from us in January, most of them will be gone from the warehouse.

We decided to start shipping EU & Rest of the World after the Christmas week - the post office craze, lost & damaged packages mean that this is the safest way to do and will only (if) add two days to the process.

In the meantime, if you backed at any level granting you pdf rules, you should have either just gotten or be getting in the next few hours an email with download instructions.

See you in the next update!

EDIT:
Update from Maciej
US palette will be ready on Mon-tue and we are at the mercy of expediting company.

Dear Backers,

the last update of this year is a great opportunity to say once again thank you for your support & patience in bringing to life the best possible Pulp City edition!

We would like to wish you a happy and peaceful Holidays season, wherever you are and whatever you are celebrating in this special time.

2015 is going to be great for Pulp City and we hope to reap what we all sow, your support and hard work made this possible.

You've seen the book, so let's highlight the other pieces:

All starters and future value boxes along with some bigger models will come in these fancy box+custom sleeve combos.

Inside of the the box, you will find the models and extra accessories - in case of the starters, it's cards and Reference Sheet.

This edition is all about great accessories, from high quality cards and cheat sheets...

to our (finally!) official custom dice by Q-Workshop.

Most of the cards will be shipped to you in new, safe card boxes.

We aim to create other faction starters to make a retail-friendly line, we are not forgetting about new blisters to host single miniatures.

We hope you like what you see and you will enjoy it even more once it makes it to your doorstep!

Hello Pulp City Fans!

Welcome to the first update of 2015. This will be a big year for Pulp City and we hope you are with us for the whole ride. We have a lot of amazing things to share with you over the next 12 months.

Shipping Update

First lets talk about the elephant in the room. Progress continues to be made regarding shipping. We are still getting final models from our casters. In fact we have received more shipping confirmations just today. Things are beginning to move fast and we are gearing up in earnest to begin getting your orders out to you.

At this time we don't feel comfortable giving you a solid date for delivery. There is just too many factors that we can't control. What we can say is that the first of two shipments to the United States will be leaving Poland next week.

TempleCon

Devon will be attending TempleCon in Rhode Island in February. He will have a booth set up where he will be running demos of Pulp City Supreme Edition. He will also have a small number of Books and Starter Sets for sale to the public. If you are planning to attend and would like to pick up your Kickstarter rewards in person please contact Devon (at) pulpmonsters.com. While all product might not be available you can at least get your copies of the book and starters.

Impudent Mortal

We are working with Walt at Impudent Mortal to design a range of Pulp City accessories. This will include buildings, billboards, and token sets for use in your game. Walt has been a joy to work with and he delivers quality, price, and service. We are very happy to be working with him.

One of the first things we asked him to work on were a set of Pixel Minions for Vector. The Pixels and MegaPixel have been in Pulp City for years but never had any official models. Here are some quick shots of the early prototype Pixels models. We will offer a set of 3 Pixels and a MegaPixel as a set in several different colors of Acrylic.

(Forgive the photos I snapped these with my phone earlier today - Devon)

Wildman poses with the MegaPixel

Anansi and a Pixel

Multiple Colors of Pixel

More news next week.

Thank You All,

Pulp Monsters Crew

I'm pretty sure I'll be going to Templecon in February, so that's a mighty tempting offer...

Howdy Citizens!

Some great news!

Yesterday we received the last package with metal casts. Kudos to the Griffin Moulds team, who despite their severe loss, stood up to the challenge and wrapped up the rest of the casting in 10 days or so.

What does that mean?

One huge package with books & starters leaves tomorrow on the plane to Devon.

One huge package with everything else follows next week.

Devon will be ready for Templecon as well as should start fullfillment for the US and Canada within 2 weeks. He gets all the stuff pre-packed so it shouldn't take very long to complete.

We at EU HQ will start shipping EU & Rest of the World orders as soon as we deal with Devon's packages. With some lucky winds, some of you will be getting their packages in 2 weeks from today. Karol, as a natural born optimist, said we should be able to clear the warehouse in a week from the start.

Yay!

In the so called meantime,

we are working on two Pulp City new projects, one super secret (but trust me, you want it), second less secret (at least when you will get to browse the book).

Devon is busy coming up with new tokens and accessories for Pulp City with Impudent Mortal (Walt is a super cool to guy to work with, looking forward to his KS).Leon is busy revamping the H&V section of our website and getting it up to date (this will take a while), while I am tending to the new webstore. We really need it. Melvin is waiting to be unleashed on new creative designs.

2015 is looking great compared to the doom & gloom of Nov/Dec!

Take care,

Maciej & The Team

Yeah, I haven't read that update yet. But I did see Devon holding up a copy of the new rulebook:

Part of a 12 case, 600 pound delivery. And that's just the starter boxes and books from the KS. He's going to be shipping out all the US pledges.

First to get their pledges in the US are those that go to personally see Devon at TempleCon.

Some Cub Reporter just brought this news item in, once again enabling us to scoop The Drazz Post-Gazette!

Update #122

Feb 19 2015

Progress Thursdays #48

Queen of the Forgotten Causes Problems

The problem in dealing with ancient and evil beings like a Gorgon is they are not to be trusted. We believe this is the most likely excuse for our final delay. Using dark and unwholesome magic Stygian managed to convince our casters to not create enough copies of one of her forms. This delay has caused any order containing Stygian to be slightly delayed.

Good new is thanks to heroic efforts the Stygian's evil plan has been foiled. You brave backers will not be waiting any longer.
Shipping Update

Europe and Rest of the World backers all smaller packages (that is non-Collector and NOT containing Stygian) have left our warehouse. Stygian arrived yesterday and the reminder of the packages should clear our warehouse by Monday. Other great news is that collector pledges in EU are delivered by courier service. This should ensure fast and safe delivery of your pledges. All remaining North American product is on the way to Devon as of this Friday. This of course includes the troublesome Queen of the Forgotten. All in all, I think we will complete EU & ROW shipping by Mon. US shipping should begin Phase 1 next week. Starting with the smaller orders first and moving forward as quickly as possible.
Missing Orders

If people don't get their order, they should check in with us. Potential problems include NOT turning in the pledge manager. Not having paid for shipping costs with your initial pledge. We will be happy to work with you to get things taken care of. For EU and ROW orders contact Kickstarter (at) Pulpmonsters.com. For North American orders you can contact Devon (at) Pulpmonsters.com.

Bah!. The Drazz Post-Gazette! will not be beat for REAL news.

By "not enough copies of one form," Maciej means "zero of the human form." So, there's twice as many monstrous Stygians as there were supposed to be. Shipping in US is supposed to start in the next two weeks; fortunately items are being shipping from Europe and not Asia, so no strike issues. Oh, and some basic pledges arriving around the country dispite weather issues:

Marvel at the full basic $90 pledge gathered together:

Opened and on the table:

And just the Grimms:

Hello Citizens!

Some quick updates:

US & CANADA SHIPPING: Everything got shipped out to the snow-covered New England.

Given the EU experience, Devon should be able to clear all orders within a week or ten days.

EU & THE REST OF THE WORLD: 95% of the warehouse is cleared, we had to manually correct some of the shipping labels with our courier service as their database crashed on some Scandinavian & Slavic fonts but as of now they are out of the way. We will run a crosscheck with the courier service on both ends. Your goods will be delivered by their local partners - it could be DHL, UPS or any other local courier.

If you are in EU or so called Rest of the World and haven't received your order within the next 2 weeks, please contact us. There is still a significant number of unconfirmed or not fully paid orders and we did contact the pledgers at least 3 times individually. Once we are back in touch, we will schedule your delivery in Phase 2, which should happen soon. We would really love to close this KS, do a financial report and move on to the great new things.

SOME PREVIEWS: In the coming weeks, we will spice the shipping updates with new models, mostly Supreme Genesis ones. This week, take a look at the phenomenal Dr. Warlock by Drew Wood (concept by Liam C and sculpting by Jarek Smolka). Drew was a true gentleman and very passionate with his character, he provided us with three stories of Warlock throughout the times and asked us to surprise him with the version we choose!

Shipping Update

Collectors Pledges for EU & ROW

Please don't worry about your Collector pledges yet. Because of the Stygian being received by us and added to every collector late last Thursday, I would expect them to start showing in a couple of days. We are unable to provide tracking numbers for some places in the world, but will be glad to answer your emails.

PS: There will be no shipping confirmation emails from the courier. We use a courier service that outsources various delivery services around the world. As such, they have great prices (therefore we can choose them over snailmail) but don't have an aggregated online platform that handles communication with the backers to whom we ship. Thanks!

The Bunbun Fiasco

So in the spirit of chaos little Grimm Bunbun has managed to escape from most of the EU and ROW orders. So if you are thinking hey shouldn't I have gotten a Bunbun model; the answer is yes. Collectors don't have to worry about that as little BunBun did make it into those orders. We will be shipping out the missing model to you all very soon.

Missing Damaged Items

Please be sure to double check your items once you get them. If there is a problem contact us either through Kickstarter or email Kickstarter(at)pulpmonsters.com. We will be happy to work with you to replace missing or damaged items. If possible we would like to ship these items with the Grimm Bunbuns in a second wave. So please let us know ASAP if you have a problem.

North American Orders

Devon has received his models and is packing and preparing them for shipment. He has a work crew scheduled for this weekend and expects to have all Collectors Pledges in the mail on Monday. Also any smaller orders should go out at that time as well. Once he gets the missing Grimm Bunbuns those will be added to all remaining pledges that require them.

Collector's Pledge

For those that haven't seen a Collector's Pledge here it is. Weighing in at almost 10 Lbs. or 4.5 Kilograms this is a massive pile of metal and resin.

Collector's Pledge in all it's glory

Just the cards

Miniature Exchange

Final thought for this week is a fan run community project the Miniature Exchange. Fans on our Facebook and Forum pages are setting up a Miniature Exchange. Where you paint a model and send it to a fellow community member and in exchange some one else will send you a painted model.

These are a lot of fun and are a great way to share, inspire, and promote the game. If you are interested in getting involved sign up on our forums here: http://forum.pulp-city.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2980

Supreme Genesis: Bramble

Welcome to another Thursday Update. This week we wanted to show off another amazing Supreme Genesis creation. This is Bramble, she is a hard hitting archer who will join Father Oak and Acorn as the third member of Settler's Green Faction.

Shipping Update

If you are waiting for your order and are concerned about it, please double check to see if you have completed your Pledge Manager and made any payments that were due. Only this week we have had a couple of cases of backer who didn't complete their Manager, or make Paypal payments, inquire about their orders. Thanks! This will make it much easier on everybody (also, if this is the case you most likely received at least 3 prompts from us in 2014)

US order are shipping out now. It will probably take a few weeks to get everything out the door properly.

As always contacts about any missing or broken pieces and we will be happy to make sure you are taken care of.
Book Warping

Wanted to take a moment to explain that your copy of the rule book is probably going to warp. This is caused by being packed and shipped via airmail. The difference in humidity will cause the paper and cardboard cover to warp. Place your book under some heavy weight for a few days and you'll find it returns to it's proper shape. Again this is normal and unavoidable. So please don't panic. If your book is damaged in any other way please contact us and we will see that you are taken care of properly.

I want this stuff to show up already!!!

Yeah, some of us have to actually work when we're pretending to work while at work.

That's my girl! Hope you guys like her!

Also, Collector's pledges have all been shipping within the US. I had a great hour or so last night making piles of metal and resin on my kitchen table until Mrs. Drazz made me clean up.

Pics from the rulebook coming. There's quite a few new Supremes in the book (pics and background, no rules) that have not been released yet.

Yeah, I was a little surprised. West Coast and all.

But, there was a 16 on the box, so I guess I was the 16th to get it mailed? Devon said he's basically done with the collector pledges for the US; getting ready to send out collector pledges for Canada now. Maciej is doing the Europe/ROW at the same time.

And a few of these:

Gwynherfar

Deadliner

Update #126 from Pulp City: Supreme Edition
Mar 20 2015

3 SG backer creations!

We are sorry for the delay in the weekly update, but a lot of things have been happening with Pulp Monsters as we continue with Kickstarter fulfillment, and work on the new web-store. The new web-store will have a fresher appearance and will have all the necessary safeguards for transactions. Once fulfilment is complete, then we can look to stock the new items in-store which will be another exciting development for us.

We have been able to read some very positive things as backers have begun to receive their pledge rewards which is great; those positive stories help us and hopefully will help the Pulp City brand grow, which in turn will allow us to do more with the game – so feel free to share those good stories guys! It has been fantastic especially to see the first painted minis that are as a result of the Kickstarter.

We are aware that some backers are still awaiting their rewards, and shipments continue to go out. If you have not yet received your reward(s) and want an update, please email us; it is better for us, and therefore you as we try and resolve any issues, than trying to round up messages via social media of Kickstarter message system. The contact email is: kickstarter (at) pulpmonsters dot com

Finally, we are pleased to show off Rath (picture above, along with Dr. Warlock and Bramble), another of our Supreme Genesis backer’s concepts, a pretty bad-ass Supreme to say the least! Card files will very soon to the Supreme Genesis backers before the shortly head off for printing.

Thanks, Leon and the Pulp Monsters team.

Progress Update #53
Posted by Pulp Monsters

Shipping Continues
Shipping is still in progress. On the EU and ROW front a number of orders were not shipped in the first wave and are being sent out now. Second wave is also soon to begin so if you don't know if you have filled out a Pledge Manager now is the time to contact us at Kickstarter (at) Pulpmonsters.com.

US orders continue to go out at a good pace. A number of orders were not received in the US and those orders will be shipping out Monday from Poland. Once all US orders are out the door we will begin shipping to Canada. At this rate I anticipate most orders to be out the door in two weeks or so.

Some Model Issues to Address
1) The Cyclops Monster head with multiple "moustache" tentacles or catfish whiskers will not be replaced due to damage. There is no way to cast it and ship it without a good chance of breakage. We just can't amend that error. The sculptor designed it more to be looked at than shipped. Fortunately repairs are easy to do for a mildly skilled hobbyist. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

2) Aurelius' smoke coming from the vial. It is a separate piece as of now. It simply does not work as a one-piece mold. Smoke is now optional, you can glue it on or leave it off at your discretion. Again this is a simple fix for any hobbyist.

Thanks Again
Just wanted to take another moment to thank you all for your patience and goodwill throughout this process. We have had more setbacks and bumps than we dreamed of. Murphy's Law has been applied to us with a vengeance. But for ever set back you guys have been supportive and positive and it has really kept this team going.

I have maintained for years the Pulp City has the best fans of any game out there. So thank you for your support. If you haven't yet joined our forums now is a great time to do so. Also don't forget to sign up for our fan run Miniature Exchange: http://forum.pulp-city.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2980

Update #128

Progress Thursdays #54
0 Comments

Howdy Citizens,

First, have a great time celebrating Easter, return of the spring and sun or anything else that makes you happier in your life!

A couple of quick updates:

European HQ: We shipped everything. We are gathering your feedback and will ship out all missing items.

US HQ: Still in progress. Devon is working hard. We are almost there, though there is still a fair amount of packages.

Missing & Damaged parts: We will have a 1 month window from the last package to report any missing or damaged items. So please make sure you report them to us. After that time, we need to close the project's budget and further corrections won't be available.

What next: If you are worried about your package, please start with checking whether you have no unresponded correspondence from us. There is still a fair amount of backers that had not a/ sent their reports b/ paid for ordered extras.

We will make a one more attempt to get back to each one of you. If we don't get a response, there are two options:

- If you have your pledge and shipping covered, but no extra choices made, we will ship you the most basic pledge, no extras, to the address registered with KS.

- if you have uncovered bills, we will leave 2-month period of grace. If we won't hear from you, we will consider this a done deal. Again, from the project management perspective, we need to be realistic.

And to soften the message, here's some bugs for the spring!

I'm in eastern Tennessee, and I received my KS stuff yesterday. I only had a smaller pledge (rulebook, two sets, and the card sets) if that makes any difference.

Stuff looks good though. Book is a tad thinner than I'd expected, but the minis are rad and the cards are made out of a super thick stock with a matte finish that's just killer. Excited to delve into playing the game soon!

Latest update, with a spoiler preview of a model not in the KS:

Shipping Update
With the remaining orders due to hit Devon no later than Monday next week we anticipate all USA orders should be finished shipping by next Friday the 17th. Canadian orders will follow directly after and are expected to finish shipping by the end of April.

Model Assembly Note
Many folks are concerned they are missing Gravito Grimm’s hand. The hand is attached to the tab at the bottom of the model. So please double check that before letting us know it is missing.

PDF Rules
A number of folks did not download their copy of the free PDF rules and the time limit has expired to do so. If you didn’t get your copy of the PDF rules please send us a message on Kickstarter that includes your current email and we will be happy to get you another copy.

Rock Hard
What comes next...
What comes next...
So what’s bigger and meaner than Stone Hawk and Grimmrock put together? What towering pile of muscle is this on the horizon? Stay tuned…

Update #130

Apr 16 2015
Progress Thursdays #56
0 Comments

While 56 is not the sexiest number out there, it marks a very important update.

This is our last Progress Thursday. Devon ships his last US orders this week and all Canadian next week.

And we are done! Sort of.

Next week we start shipping out replacements and missing bits. That should go fast as there is not that many cases reported.

We are closing up the Supreme Genesis cards and 4 out of 5 models are sculpted and waiting to be cast. 5th is close to the finish line as well.

We still have some backers missing in action. Whenever we see a social media update and somebody says they are still waiting for their order, we run a cross-check and often find out that some of the orders are not locked in (underpaid etc.). Hopefully we will get you all sorted out fast so you can enjoy the game.

Final questions: Was it worth it? Absolutely yes. Without you, it would take us years to push the game forward in that way. Was it easy? Absolutely no. We've learnt a lot and between our dayjobs managed to get some schooling in project management . Are we millionaires now? Rather not, in fact, I am putting together a document with our ups and downs and financial breakdown. It might hold some interest for some of you.

What's next? Webstore is almost there, it will come with a Rewards/Loyalty system, vouchers and other cool stuff. Retail - we are building up a retail-friendly short list of products.

Are we thinking about new Kickstarters? Yes. Actually two of them. Next one will be an easy project to manage as we have a locked in number of miniatures, profiles that are already being playtested and no rulebooks and 150 cards to re-work

You might have seen the concepts for Supreme Alliance floating around.

(that is not the entire team btw, we have some surprises for you)

The sketches were amazing but they produced even more amazing models. I can't wait to share them with you. You realize that the mightiest heroes in the history of Pulp City need enemies? I will keep you in the dark for a while. Keep your eyes peeled.

This is the last Progress Thursday but not the last update in this KS. Enjoy the game and once again, thank you for being with us on this amazing ride!

Maciej, Devon, Leon & Melvin

Really looking forward to:

1) Receiving my pledge
2) Finalizing the mini deal with Drazz ()
3) Getting to see (and buy!) the Supreme Alliance team!

Good job on #3 and the impending Avengers 2 movie!

Got my pledge yesterday!

As previously noted, hunt around for all the necessary bits before thinking they're missing - many were in bags nowhere near their main miniatures...

I was only missing a few things - Tritonius and his large base, and 3 small bases.

Speaking of bases - no they sell all those cool base inserts/toppers separately somewhere?

Anyone have any luck with receiving replacements for missing/damaged stuff yet?

My pledge arrived missing a miniature and some bases, so I contacted them about it on April 18.

I heard back from them on April 20:

Hi

Today I start packing missing items.

Thanks
Karol

I haven't received anything yet, so I'm just curious if anyone has?

thanks!

Yeah.. ugh. So broke right now :(

I was going to back their other KS but with the prices and having not really heard much about the system I held back. If they had a PM though I likely would've got a starter.

Is it small skirmish sized warbands like Clix and BMG? Is it a tabletop RPG or just a battle type game? Is there a place with a good breakdown on what to expect?

The designs and sculpts seem good, do the casts turn out well usually?

Alpharius - If you're still looking for inserts for those types of bases I think Back2Baseix has some but the site is down for maintenance at the moment so I can't confirm.
In the meantime, Fenris games has base toppers that should fill what you were looking for (if you're still looking). http://fenrisgames.com/shop?/shop.html#!/Base-toppers/c/2938046/offset=0&sort=nameAsc

I was enjoying the sculpts but that last one seems like they took the same model and did a head and maybe weapon swap. Both weapons look like lasguns too so scratching my head a bit there. It wouldn't have been so bad if there hadn't been a tactical crate on both versions.

I think that's on purpose though - maybe clones of each other?

Split personality?

Alternate dimension?

I kind of figured it was something like that, and I get that it makes more sense economically for a double agent or evil twin or whatever to be done that way. I just feel like it might've been more fun to have it not be so obvious so when they figure it out there's kind of a lightbulb moment, like "oh.. those guys' look similar" "wait.. is that the same guy???". I imagine his bio will spell it out though so maybe it would've been too obvious to pull a trick like that.

Between the names of "Trojan" and "Turncoat" I am getting the overwhelming vibe it is a double agent style character who wears a mask when fighting for one side and not the other.

They previewed $175 starter for two factions. If that's the buy-in for 2-player I'm going to end up skipping this one too :(

That's the buy in for those two teams.

You can certainly play with a lot few models than that too!

Here's the official page for the Kickstarter. Nearly funded after 30 minutes.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/472543693/pulp-city-cold-war?ref=discovery

You could easily play a two-player game using ONE of the teams offered. It looks like there's 16 points for RR and 17 for SA; an 8 point game is fairly standard and advisable for new players.

Also, with the potential (likely) free stretch goals added eventually, it becomes a bit more inviting.

This KS is probably not as cost-efficient as a gamer as their first. But they were certainly overwhelmed by the backing they saw last time.

(Also, editing title and first page)

I'll throw in a placeholder pledge for updates but yowzers, I will do some research and try to find some reviews for this system. That's a big commitment for toe-dipping.
EDIT: Oh! $45 rule bundle seems reasonable.. I can bring my own minis and save a bit that way

That would work better if the two miniatures in questions weren't nearly identical!

But yeah, that seems like what they were going for!

Post a name for this Supreme in the comments to this update, and on October 18th we will pick the best as a winner. The winner will get this Supreme added to their pledge for free and have the honor of knowing they helped the Pulp Monsters crew name one member of this fearsome new Team!

Woo hoo i just got my the new cards.. .well except the SG cards, Red Republic & Supreme Alliance.

Still Androida & Twilight Leveled up (Androida now brings an extra leadership card), Sister Bedlam is now nonliving (which cramps Pain Link, though she can shunt a killing blow on herself to friendlies), Six Feet Under can gain a fatigue to be immune to displacement.. and i cant find my old Gwynherfar for comparison, though the No "Broken Sword Team" is new

It's been a while, so I forget...new cards?

What's the deal there?

Update #22 showed off a poor quality photo of the new cards they had ordered as part of Cold War.

While most were the expected ones for SA RR & the SG models, there were updated versions of the ones i named showing as well.

Looking at it again its possible Dr Warlock & Anteas are part of the broken sword faction.. but it is a low res picture and im not betting on it.

I picked up a bunch of Pulp City minis during the last KS, and I really need to dive into this game now...

Will there be new cards for everyone?

Pure speculation- but i don't think so.

Everyone already got a new card with Supreme Edition and the update implied that 42 showing was the extent of the card order.
I'm guessing they tweaked a few (Bedlam, Gwen & 6 Feet) and then introduced more options for a few others to fill out the print buy while they were dropping a large order.

And for those following at home- i received my backerkit only order of the SG and a few last month (10th ish?)

And my sister just received the our Cold war pledge today, so 6 months late but complete. and looking good. no real casting flaws i saw on my half.

Still for posterity, another successful kickstarter

Same here - got my COLD WAR stuff yesterday and in this day and age, 'only' 6 months late is almost 'on time' for Kickstarter!

Love this stuff, this game and this company - good times!
