What is Battlescribe Data 40k?
BattleScribe Data 40k is one of the groups that provides datafiles for the army-builder program called BattleScribe.
We do not control the program itself, merely the data files that you use to build a list.
We have around 19 people who did a lot of work in their free time to provide you with lists that we try to keep as correct as possible!

Where can I find these files?
http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/#/repo/wh40k
The first link called 'Warhammer 40k' is a general link that will get you all the files.
Further down you can select individual armies; I suggest to take them all by clicking the first link.

Even better would be to copy the following link into the BattleScribe-data section: http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/repos/wh40k/index.bsi
Check this site to see how: http://battlescribe.net/help-overview.html

Why this thread?
As one of the authors I like to be informed when I make errors, typo's and other mistakes.
I also would like to hear it if people have suggestions and other points of improvement.
We usually get a lot of feedback, but that is mostly stuff like "The pointcost is wrong", "I can't open the file" or "You made a mistake."
The first one is very simple: We change it and it's done.
The second one is a lot harder, because our feedback is indirectly and users usually don't read our responses and tips. Which is why I made this thread.
The third one can be important when users think we've made a mistake when actually we haven't, but they don't read our response.
Another thing is that we also like to hear other feedback, suggestions, ideas and opinions.
And many people don't know where to post this feedback, but they do know where to find Dakkadakka!

"My file won't open, I get an error, it's not working!"
This is something we hear a lot, which is why I think we need a short trouble-shoot on this:
1. Make sure you are using http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/repos/wh40k/index.bsi and not some other source.
2. Try clearing all the data-files in the BS-folder and redownload them.
3. Still issues? Ask for help!

So in short: I decided that we authors need a place for direct communication and Dakkadakka is the perfect place for it since it's probably the biggest 40k-forum!
Help me help you

I need more help with Battlescribe itself!
http://www.battlescribe.net/help-faq.html

You changed something, but I don't see it?
If we fix something, our internal files are updated.
You will only see this after each release, so you just have to wait a day or two.
But if we gave confirmation, you can be sure it was changed!

Why do some Codices get fixed faster?
I made this thread on my own initiative, so if I often have to make a new issue on the 'real' website. That's something I do when:
a) It's too complicated.
b) I don't know the Codex (which is basically every non-Marine/Necron army).
c) Senpai and Thairne aren't responding
All of this work is done without any form of payment and in our free time, it's a hobby.

I have been having issues getting the Knights roster to work as a CA detachment. (Lots of error messages because it doesn't conform to a standard CA force org, no Gerantius, I'm not 100% but I don't think there were options for Seneschal etc either)

I've tried fixing it myself, but I'm afraid my brain isn't compatible with the thinking necessary to do this sort of stuff, and since my iPad updated to iOS 8 it just freezes if I try and create an IK roster.

So far, I've found that the CSM data lacks many of the weapon profiles and wargear descrptions when viewing units or in the roster. In addition, in the roster there are keyword listings with hyphenation, but nothing following the hyphens.

a nitpick, but the codex space marine army lacks most of the forgeworld HQ's like issodon and the star phantoms guy.

also, with the orks your unable to purchase eavy armor for just the nobs

Chaos Space Marines? Could you perhaps give some examples?

They aren't Elites, Troops, Fast Attack or anything else.
You should try the Imperial Knight Detachment

iOS8 is a known issue within BS itself, I believe the new version is now going through Apple's "checking".

C:SM - They are in the file! You need to add the Chapter Tactics: Raptors and then the 'Show FW: HQ'. The author did this because we had 25+ HQ's.
Orks - "The entire mob may take 'eavy armour"

The Castigator and the Magaera are missing in the IK detachment. They appear if I use the CAD (IK), but then only selectable as LoW and have FoC error messages

Rules for the XV107 have changed slightly since it was put in BS. The only upgrade options avaiable to it are the drones, Positional Relay, and Stimulant injector. Also the weapon is AP4 not AP3.

I've also had the problem Vector above me had with trying to get the newer Imperial Knights in an IK detachment.

The points value for Assault Space Marines is off. A SM with a flamer is 22 pts not 23 pts, and a SM with plasma pistol is 32 pts not 33 pts. I was able to make the adjustment in my own files pretty easy though. That is the only issue I have encountered in my own use.

small question: is there legacy of glory support from IA2? those would be awesome too, but I understand it's daunting to add them to every single fething vehicle

I updated the XV107; Weird that nobody told us that, it has been like that for quite some time.
The Imperial Knights are also updated, they were accidentally labelled as LoW instead of Knight.

And thank you, this is exactly why I made this thread! This is more useful feedback than in a week and with issues I've never heard before.
As always you will notice the changes with the next release which is probably this weekend.

The "danger" with own adjustments is that our release will probably overwrite it if you update it, so it's better if I also fix it.

The Chapter-thing is only a week old.
One of the authors did some great work by adding almost everything from the IA-books around two weeks ago.
The only downside to that was that we had 45 Forgeworld-entries and it looked quite messy, so we decided to use "hide and show"-modifiers to reduce the number of entries.
Nothing looks worse than having a Black Templar-list and having to crawl through 20 HQ's you cannot use.

Space Wolves and Blood Angels have the Legacies of Glory, I will ask them to do that for C:SM too.

Still missing Gerantius and the option to upgrade one Knight to a Seneschal in the IK list (in the IK detachment anyway)

I have the ePub WD with Gerantius' rules in if that is any use?

Also, while I get constant freezes on IOS (but get that's Apples fault) if I try and load the same repository on Android, I get an error message regarding "multiple instances of Space Wolves codex (2007)" or words to that effect, error. No other repostiories linked, so it isn't a clash from that.

Seems to be different data file version numbers in Droid too, is that normal or has it not updated to the latest versions for some reason?

Gerantius is in there. And yeah I can add in the Warlord option with built in Seneschal upgrade.

I have noticed a small bug with the Farsight Enclave list that occurs some times. On occasion after equipping a squad of crisis suits, it adjusts them back to their point value without bonding knives which are required by the supplement.

Also I've had some feed back for a while, but never knew where to turn it in at until I stumbled upon this post.

Weird, I'm looking at it right now and I can see the Gerantius.
I've also added an option called Warlord with the description from the FAQ.
And I added this option to the BA-Knights.

The freezing is both Apple and BS's fault, from Facebook:
BattleScribe 1.14.08 Submitted to Apple

I've finally squashed the last couple of bugs that seem to have been introduced with iOS 8. These proved very hard to diagnose, so thanks for your patience and apologies for the delay.

Good news today though: The new version is finished, everything is fixed and it's been submitted to Apple. As a nice silver lining, the fixes have actually resulted in some unexpected performance gains, so everything should be much snappier once the update comes through.

Apple usually takes about a week to approve new submissions so now we need to play the waiting game (some more)...

"Multiple instances of Space Wolves" is something you get when you have multiple files with the same unique ID.
My advice would be to delete all the datafiles from your device and re-download, since the repository only has one.
This error occurs when: a) we make a mistake and b) when an update doesn't replace the old file, but creates a copy.

The latest Space Wolves is: Space Wolves: Codex (2014) v12

Nocturus wrote:

http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/#/repo/wh40k has a report bug-option, but I prefer something like this thread where it's easier to interact with each other.

And do you know what steps to follow to reproduce that Bonding Knife-issue? Because I'm playing with them and it always has Bonding Knife Ritual turned on.
At the moment it's a min/max of 1/1 that gets 1 point more expensive for every model in the unit.

Thanks for making this thread.

I am 'dedicated' to Necron and Blood Angels, so I feel ashamed now
It's changed.. And I am still thinking of a way to merge the Necron and Dark Harvest-list.

You are welcome, in one hour I already fixed 5 things. So I'm also pleased.

CSM: Codex (2012) v63

It appears that for most of the named characters the catalogue does not list the wargear they have. For example, Ahriman only has The Black Staff listed for wargear, yet has a profile for Aura of Dark Glory and Inferno Bolts, which if your opponent looks at your list would not be listed.

Also, it appears that most of the weapons do not have profiles. For Chaos Lord (as an example), the only weapon with a profile is The murder Sword.

Detachment .

I think maybe detachment can switch force organization detachment, without have to input rooster again and again.. Pile up the memory and lag the battlescript App

Example:
Unbound rooster where I put all of my ork, what I have/own.

When battle turn up, I can just switch force organization into Warhammer 40k style and delete unwanted armies rooster.
Do not overwrite the new rooster list, just publish it into pdf instead.

Save memory and time.

My mistake!
When I say that I made a change, it means it is changed in the 'internal' files but those have to be released before you will notice the change.
We usually have a new release at least once a week if there are changes.

Good idea, but nearly impossible.
We'd have to remove all existing Forces and just work with one.
Then we'd have to attach an entry called "Elite" to each Elite-unit and put 10 modifiers on that.

After a recent update, all of my Tactical Squad have had their boltguns removed.

In fact, all of my Sentinels of Terra lists are acting very strange. Large chunks of the lists are being listed as invalid.

@Kangodo Did I ever tell you how much I love you guys?

Something you might want to include in the first post, I recently added an FAQ section to the help: http://www.battlescribe.net/help-faq.html

I will expand the page as I get more questions that are asked... erm... frequently

(I don't check forums frequently so this is not the place to ask me frequent questions! This thread is for data related stuff!)

Just wanted bring up the FAQ as it may help a lot of people before they ask their question. Frequently.

I updated the point-costs for ASM, they were indeed wrong.
But I open the list, add a tactical squad and it says:
4x Space Marine
4x Bolt Pistol
4x Bolter
4x Power Armour, Frag & Krak Grenades

What exactly are you experiencing? I don't get any errors.
I am using v18 of the list (the version with my ASM-fix will be v19)

Aah, now I understand! If I have to make a guess:
Everything in a datafile is 'coded' under an unique ID.
Sometimes, when there is no other option, the unique ID gets changed.
The result is that your saved file tries to make a list with unique ID's that no longer exist.
Outcome: Error/Invalid.

With Boltguns it might try to add Boltgun (ID=123456789) while the new and updated Boltgun is now known as ID=987654321. So the end-result is that it cannot add the Boltgun (ID=123456789).
When you re-add the Tactical Marines, it automatically adds Boltgun (ID=987654321)

I recently did some major changes to the C:BA-file which basically destroyed every saved list (every unit got a new unique ID), perhaps something like this happened too.

Okay, that story was not quite 100% correct but it's the thought that count.
In short: I'm afraid we can't fix that, so the only option might be to just redo those lists.
We try to avoid changing unique ID's because most of the time there is no reason to change them.

following up on something direhippo mentioned earlier, with the Chaos Space Marines: Codex (2012) v65 file, there are no weapon profiles for things like boltguns, meltaguns, plasma guns and so on. there are *some* profiles there, though, such as for the axe of blind fury and the sigil of corruption. I noticed this while creating a new list against this data file, rather than updating an existing list.

We had a new update 10 hours ago, so maybe that's it?
Chaos Space Marines always had a lack of profiles and someone is working at this.
When I started at BA in June they didn't have a single profile, so I know how much work that is

As for the troops:
Chosen are unlocked if you have Abaddon.
Berzerkers are unlocked if you have Kharn or a Lord with Mark of Khorne.
Noise Marines are unlocked if you have Lucius or a Lord with Mark of Slaanesh
Plague Marines are unlocked if you have Typhus or a Lord with Mark of Nurgle
And then we have Thousand Sons which are unlocked if you have Ahriman or a Lord with the Tzeentch Mark.

That's what I read in the code, so that should be correct right?
 ausYenLoWang wrote:

Doesn't VotlW cost 1 point per Plague Marine?
We've made the upgrade 0 points, and then made a modifier that increases the cost with 1 point for each model in the unit.
Result: It actually adds the correct amount of points, but you will probably see it as 0 points.
That's because Battlescribe doesn't apply modifiers before showing the point cost.
A similar thing can be seen in the Dedicated Transport of BA Assault Marines: It says a Drop Pod is 35 points, but it is actually free when you add it.
I've already reported it to the creator of Battlescribe.

Aspiring Champions come default with two bolt pistols, which they shouldn't have. Reducing the 2 to 1 turns it from a scrolling box to a checkbox. It's weird.

Yeah, the default selection is set to Bolt Pistol which automatically makes him take two Pistol. The solution would be to have no default selection.
I've already told the author this and he is currently working on the weapon-profiles.
He already entered (almost) all of them and now each weapon needs a link to the profile.

My mistake, I read Mark of Tzeentch and automatically assumed it was from the Chaos Lord.
But further inspection shows that it is indeed the MoT from the Sorcerer.

Two things for Astra Militarum (cosmetic only?)

1) Commissar Yarrick is listed as 0 points, but when you then add him, he's the proper point cost of 145.

2) Militarum Tempestus Platoon is listed at 82 points, but when you add them they're the proper cost of 70.

Yeah the disappearing bonding knife cost is completely random on me. I can reproduce it, but not in any specific ways other than modifying the same squad several times and changing the number of models in the squad.

IK detachment bug... Maybe? When I add a regular knight (paladin) and then say two different forgeworld Knights (lancer and castigator) it flags the detachment as having too many forgeworld Knights even though there are not more of one specific forgeworld Knight than the other types. If I make it a primary detachment this goes away. However, if I then add the other type of standard knight (paladin and an errant + a lancer and castigator) it brings the flag back. If I'm reading the forge world rules right I should be able to just take one standard knight and then take one of each special knight. Maybe I'm wrong lol.

Aah, I see.

1. Yarrick is 'free' because he probably appears in some formations or something like that.
We created his unit in the background.
Then, on the foreground, we made a link to him with a modifier for "+ 145 points".
For some reason Battlescribe doesn't show this until you add him.

2. MT-platoon is weird.
The code says you need at least 4 Scions. It also says you need at least 1 Scion without a heavy weapon.
The "available entries" is really bad at math and sees 5 mandatory models and says they are 60 points.
Then it adds the mandatory Tempestor and comes at 82 points.
But when you actually add them, that's when your processor starts doing calculations and notices you only take 4, so it gives them the correct amount of points.

It's how Battlescribe works so it's a lot lighter on your system, at least that is how I understand it.
I'll ask the author if there is any way to fix it

Perhaps the continuously changing of the amount of models causes it to bug?
But that is not something a rewrite by us could fix.

Let me try something:
Paladin + Lancer + Castigator => No bug here.
Paladin + Lancer + Castigator + Errant => Bug because an Imperial Knight-Detachment can have a maximum of 3 Knights
You can read that in the FAQ: http://www.blacklibrary.com/Downloads/Product/PDF/Warhammer-40k/7th-faq/Imperial_Knights_v1.0_May14.pdf

On what device are you doing this? Perhaps your machine doesn't "recheck for bugs" until you add the Primary Detachment.
I suspect this because Primary Detachment is in no way linked with anything, so perhaps the clicking of anything else forces your device to recheck for bugs.

 casvalremdeikun wrote:

May replace servo-harness and boltgun with a conversion beamer - XX pts

Don't forget to de-select the Servo-harness when you take a Conversion Beamer.
At the moment it's not possible to have it automatically de-select the harness.

Maybe that will fix it, because the coding is correct and it works fine on my Android and PC.

You're welcome, it's exactly why I made this thread.

And I will look at the BKR.

Edit: Some other news!
Dark Eldar 2014 are ready and released, but has a few mistakes.
I found some of them and reported those errors, but please be on the look out for more.

I noticed a few things in the recent Dark Eldar release:

- Huskblade should be 25 points for Archon
- Scourges are wrong points (should be 16 each)
- Trueborn should be min size 1 with 4 special and one heavy weapon. I believe right now it keeps the base 3 trueborn with splinter rifles, and doesn't let you modify or remove them.
- Razorwing should be fast attack

Those are the ones I noticed off the bat. Thanks for your efforts!

I think I may have another one, or it may just be incorrect interpretation on my part.

The CSM codex says that "any Noise Marine" may exchange their boltgun for a Sonic Blaster. There is however no option for the unit champion to do so under their options.

I would think that the Noise Champion still counts as a Noise Marine for this purpose, but someone may perhaps be able to clarify.

Incorrect interpretation. If it said any model, then the Noise Champion would be able to, however, by specifying Noise Marine, only Noise Marines can take the option.

Discovered more issues. This info is after I've updated the data files.

Tau Empire:
XV8 Crisis - If I add 1 Crisis, add BKR and then other Crisis, it doesn't update.Neither if I remove a Crisis - have to manually unmark-mark the BKR box. Adding/removing a 'vre updates automatically.

Farsight Enclaves:
XV8 Crisis - Exactly the same situation (aside the BKR box).

I've made a post with a spoiler-tag, it shows the recent changes to Dark Eldar. It's just a few posts up! But in short: The court is fixed.
The Daemon-Engine is also fixed.
The Talisman is now a piece of wargear instead of a rule.
Can't wait for the Necron/Blood Angel Codices I'll personally do both of them.

One tip: https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/releases
In there you can see the latest release, but trust me if I say that the "change-log" is usually a summary and not as fully written down as Toreador13 did.
The most important thing is this line: "5 commits to master since this release"
It basically means: "We made 5 updates that have not yet been released to the public."

The general order of "fixing" is:
1. I make any number of changes with the catalogue editor.
2. I update the version and save it. Now it's changed on my pc.
3. I make a commit and synchronize my GitHub which changes the master-"folder". Now it's changed for all the authors.
4. The master-"folder" is released and everyone using the battlescribedata-link sees the change.

A merge might be a good idea, all you really need is a warning that appears if you take units that are exclusive to either book.

It was really easy, I just had to change the max 1 to max 2 on each ability.
And for the merge I was thinking more of a special modifier.
So if you select 'Dark Harvest' in the "no category slot", it would automatically show and hide several things.

One possibility (that I've been doing in my own catalogues) for the merge, is I've added a Type called "Supplement". If you choose a supplement, it will automatically make the necessary changes. For example, if you choose "Farsight Enclave", it will auto hide Aun'Va and Shadowsun, give the option to take the Commander Team (as long as Farsight is chosen as Warlord), hide the normal Tau relics, etc.

That way, Iyanden, FE, Black Legion, etc. aren't their own catalogue, and things don't need to be copy-pasted.

With the merge I like the idea of quickly swapping between the two (delete troops + HQ then add the alternate versions) so anything that allows that would be awesome. I would mainly be worried about hiding stuff if the disallowed units are already on the roster and it doesn't give a roster error.

BattleScribe Data =] Official Feedback Thread [=  @ 2014/10/10 10:09:11

It does. Some 'dexes already allow you to show/hide forgeworld models.
If you have a hidden unit in your rooster, BS gives out an error (which is why Authors decided to hide FW Models by category).

Not a bug, but a suggestion. A Kill Team detachment mght be nice?

Ultimately it isn't a huge deal, as one can simply use a standard Codex CA option and not choose the disallowed units, but if it wasn't a massive hassle to do, one that followed the KT Force Org would be cool.

BattleScribe Data =] Official Feedback Thread [=  @ 2014/10/11 18:54:35

Is there an official Kill Team-game then by GW?
Because that's the biggest issue: It's unofficial.
If we add version X, some people will want version Y.

Some time ago an author started with the HoR-Kill Team, but for that version we needed an additional datafile for every codex because the units itself were just different and that was dropped.

If we were to introduce something like that, it would need to be a bit more official than the fanmade stuff we have now and it would have to be only FOC-changes.

Yep, downloadable from iTunes.

Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team (Interactive Edition) by Games Workshop
https://itun.es/gb/FidqU.l

I think it's technically a 6th Ed supplement, but there's absolutely nothing which causes issues with the changes in 7th.

I agree it would need to be Force Org based, validating min armour saves and armour values etc would be hugely problematic, maybe impossible, to execute, but a detachment with 0 HQ 0-1 Elite 0-2 Troops 0-1 FA and 0 HS would be, I imagine, fairly straightforward?

One could even put in a hard point ceiling at 200 points which is what the teams are based on.

Awesome, let's spend iGBP's and I'll read through it

Using the 0-2 Troops, etc, is easy.
The difficulty begins with:
-Minimal of 4 non-vehicle models.
-Appointing Leaders and Specialists.
-etc, etc

So the best we could do is give you a FOC that has the 0-2 Troops, etc, at which point it's not helping at all.
The other issue is that USR's work differently, like Split Fire, so making such a thing would probably just make it more confusing.

Under the assassins dataslate when you choose it as an ally it gives you an error or having to have 1 hq and 1 troop, choice.
But the assassins are elites only. They dont require regular foc slots afaik.

Under Tyranid formation, endless swarm there should only be two termagant units. 3 are listed currently. The swarm is 3 hormagants, 2 terms and 1 warrior.

Under the assassins dataslate when you choose it as an ally it gives you an error or having to have 1 hq and 1 troop, choice.
But the assassins are elites only. They dont require regular foc slots afaik.

Im working off windows by the way and thanks for the work put into this

You are right, I updated the Endless Swarm from the Tyranid Vanguard 3.
It had a min/max of three instead of two, this should be fixed in the next release.

You are mistaken about the Assassins though.
'Allied Detachment' is a detachment that always requires 1 HQ and 1 Troops.
This is confusing since GW has both 'allies' and 'Allied Detachment', but you can ally any Detachment you want.
If you want to "ally" some Assassins, you do this by adding an 'Officio Assassinorum Detachment' to your army.

While writing a list with Space marines v93 data files from appspot.com, it won't let me upgrade my tactical sergeant to a veteran without deselecting the sergeant and selecting a veteran sergeant as an upgrade for the squad, but then I get an error message that says I need to select a minimum of 1 sergeant. So I can't have a Vet Sarg without a normal sarg selected, but then I pay for 2 sergeants. Am I doing something wrong?

My advice is to update your file-system, this was fixed 8 days ago in v94
The issue was brought up here: https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/issues/399

How are you enjoying the Drop Box function of Battlescribe?
That way you can make a list on your pc and it saves it in your dropbox, which makes it really easy to open it on your mobile device.
It also means you only have to update the files on one device and it's updated everywhere!

But one thing: We don't make BS, only the Codex-files

I've tried writing one, but it's ugly, and currently battlescribe doesn't support some of the list validation requirements (ex battle group can't be more than x% of the army list).

But I've also been trying to get it to validate the number of dropships available in a battle group too. I haven't even glanced at Shaltari but I know the Gate group validation is likely to be super ugly.

You may be better served at this point by using FFOR and a program that allows you to print to PDF to store the list on your mobile device.

One thing before we get back on topic:
http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/#/repos
As you can see there are a lot of games, you are always free to ask and a separate repository can be made.
In the gamesystem-editor it's possible to assign min and max percentages to stuff.
Example: It's easy to say that (in 40k) the HQ should be at least 20%, not sure if that would help.
But you would have to gather your own authors

I also told the others about the new FAQ, especially for Space Wolves that is quite important since they did some big changes.
They finally fixed Murderfang!

They are a FW-unit.
And because we want to declutter the codices, some authors decided to hide FW units.

To show them follow these steps:
Select the 'no category'-entry called "Show FW models"
In that entry, select Fast attack.
Your list now shows the FW-Fast Attacks, including Hornets.

Fixed and thank you!
The other SM-catalogues (supplements, siege, etc) already had it nerfed.

Yes and no.
We 'could' include the entire fortification-part in each Codex.
But that costs a lot of time, additional file-size and even more work when we have to fix a mistake (We'd have to fix every Codex).
In the past some Codices had fortifications, others had them partially and some had nothing.
That is one of the reasons why it was just added as its own file.

As I understand it Battlescribe will have some changes in the future which allows us to do this, but till then it'd be better if we leave it like this.

Ah, and in either Combined/Allied Detachment, if I choose SM -> Black Templars CT and add a Crusader Squad, an error message will show up: "maximum (0) allowed". This happened in the last version as well.

Another issue I had was I had a CAD, a fortification and another CAD in that order. The SM No Category tab was hiding under the ad banner and I couldn't scroll down any more to see it. I reordered to CAD, CAD, Fort. All good. I have Tiggy now.

Yes, my fault.
I had to delete them when we re-did the entire catalogue.
The idea was that we'd have our new codex by now and then it's easy to re-add them.
But they'll be added.

I don't think screenshots would do us any good.
The catalogue is online and it should be downloaded when you update the files.
Have you tried to delete all catalogues and then reloading them?

Yeah, that is really weird since that bug is on android, apple and PC.
It's probably a bug in Battlescribe itself, so the developer is looking at it.

The official endless swarm has 3. If you bought the dataslate early on ePub, then you will need to delete and reinstall it to get the update. This goes back to the days when GW had a FaceBook page and it was brought to the attention of GW Eddie, so then had them update the book. That was a week or two after release.

I have the Fortifications force type, but no Stronghold Assault in my Catalogue. I went to appspot, RandomHit, etc., and have no Stronghold Assault.

I reported the AM thing

Not sure what you mean..
We could make a special 'FOC' for Kill-Team, but some versions of it require totally different units with different options.
There are also too many different kinds of Kill Team, so the question is: Which one do we follow?

The Dark Angel's roster lacks the ability to select a number of Heavy Weapons (Assault/Plasma Cannon). There is only a toggle box, but you can have two heavy weapons in a 10 man(right?).

Nope, you're confusing them with CSM. DA tacticals, as all SM tacticals, can only take a heavy or special at 5 and a heavy AND special at 10. No such thing as 2 heavys for us. Cause, you know, this would tacs actually worth something.

Before we get questions!

BA now have two files:
1. The old file, which will be removed in a month or so.
2. A copy of the old file, but with the new units from Death Strike. This will be the file that gets updated with the new codex.

Making some lists and noticed a couple of things. The only functional one is the Diabolical Playthings menu in the Covens file. It only allows you to select one option; the book establishes no such limit.

Also, a couple of typos. The Scourge submenu in the DE files lists the word Weapons as Wearpons. In addition, in the Reaver upgrades, the word Reaver needs to be capitalized.

Thanks for the great program!

Noticed an issue with Inquisition earlier today.

If you select Henchmen with special weapons in a squad, and include more than one, the minimum required on the weapons increases per each henchman selected.

IE: 1 Henchman means you need to select one regular weapon, and one special weapon. 2 Henchman means each henchman needs to select two regular weapons and two special weapons, etc.

Chaos Space Marine Defilers do not have the Battle Cannon listed in their profile. You can swap out each arm but the Battle Cannon should be unchangeable.

edit,
FW Chaos Contemptor Dreadnought, close combat weapon/chainfist inbuilt combi-bolter upgrade, plasma blaster is listed but no weapon profile shows up. same with the chainfist status/dreadnought close combat weapon profiles, both mia

But Acolytes, for some reason, with special weapons could still take normal weapons which - though correct - makes no sense.

Black Legion Codex options are currently buggy,

Chaos Space Marine Cultists are currently buggy as well and sometimes inform the user that they aren't allowed to upgrade Auto Pistols to Autoguns / also having too many Heavy Weapons within the Squad.

Cultists also seem to have the ability to take more than the usual amount of Autoguns over their Pistols for some odd reason. Example being 10 man squads where 1 Chapion and 1 Heavy weapon models leaves 8 usually capable of taking Autoguns, Battlescribe says it's fine to take 9 Autoguns even though there are only 8 possible models capable of taking the Autoguns over their Pistols.

There is an error entry stating that the Black Legion codex supplement needs to add 1 weapon to hull mounted such by such not stating who or what needs it, even if you have NO VEHICLES in your entire army. The chaos Artifacts for the Black Legion also seem to be rather buggy and take up weapon slots / wargear slots for no apparent reason sometimes, and sometimes the complete opposite taking up none at all.

If I could make a suggestion for Battlescribe, add in the ability to include all 3 codecies as per the Faction rules of 40k. Since you can technically take a Crimson Slaughter Lord with Crimson Slaughte Artifacts, then have a secondary lord in the same FOC from Black Legion, it would be nice to allow them all within the same list, simply exclusive, (No crimson artifacts mixed in with Black Legion artifacts, coding might be difficult but...) would save a lot of time having to make allied detachments simply for that 1 chaos lord you're trying to bring and having to explain to people why its bringing up an error, going to your local TO and telling them what you're trying to do only to be given the go ahead with your opponent thinking you've done some dirty stinking bribe or sold your soul to the TO and are kissing butt to win via cheating lol

Force Type: Age of Darkness
Catalogue: Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List v42 (HH: LACAL - 2014)

Using Legion Astartes: XVIII: Salamanders
HQ: Lord Chaplain Nomus Rhy'tan

Issues:
- When adding more than one Legion Dreadnought Talon anywhere in the list (either HQ+Elite, or multiple Elite), get a 'Roster has too many selections' warning
- Changing the TL Bolter on any Close Combat Weapon returns a 'Legion Dreadnought has too many selections' warning

Warnings do not occur if Rhy'tan is not a selected HQ.

Those 10 models seem to be including the champion, so you are giving one to the champion, 8 to the cultists and 1 heavy weapon to a cultist.

I can add them.
You have to select a Detachment-source.
In there you can select whether you play with the Codex or Exterminatus.
The moment you select Exterminatus it starts showing the Relics.

The same goes for Blood Angels.
All Relics hide or show depending on the Source you selected.
Same with Warlord Traits.

You can even click on Traits to have them printed out too or click on Mephrit Dynasty Cohort to show the rules for this Detachment.

In the future I will try to have this automated, but that takes more work and wouldn't be done before Christmas.
For Necrons I will also wait until the Codex arrives.

@Troa: I won't hide them by default, they don't have that many options.
This was a requirement for C:SM, because they had around 90 entries in their list and it's not that bad for Blood Angels.
I also think that showing FW by default gives people a little push to accept the models in their battles

@Paradigm: The Archangels are a formation in the file, I did this because turning it into a Detachment takes a lot of work and I'll save that for after the holidays.
It's really complicated! To get technical:
I would have to make a Detachment in the main 40k-file.
Every non-Archangels unit should get a modifier that hides them if you select that Detachment.
And then I would need some way to put a limit of 10 to Veterans and Terminators, with another limit of 6 to Furioso.

col_impact wrote:

You were right, I put them on max 1 in force.
Now it should be at a maximum of 1 per army.

I based this on: Characters with the Necrons Faction that are part of a Detachment or Formation presented in this book can select an item from the Relics of the War in Heaven list at the points cost shown. Only one of each of the relics may be chosen per army -- there is only one of each of these items in the galaxy."

BattleScribe Data =] Official Feedback Thread [=  @ 2014/12/28 22:05:27

Aah, that might be the mistake: You shouldn't select a CAD! A CAD always has 2-6 Troops.
Create a new roster and under Force Type you select the Mephrit Dynasty Cohort, that should set your Troops to 3-8.

You probably selected the entry called "Detachment-source", but that only shows the Relics and Traits, it does nothing to the unit requirements.

One technical thing! At the moment I did it like this: "Show this Relic if Detachment-Source has the option Exterminatus selected."
I could rewrite that to: "Show this Relic if the Force Type is <Detachment 1> or <Formation X> or <Formation Y> or <Formation Z>"
That will take a lot of time and I'd rather wait for the Codex to be released before I will do that.

If you agree with the Court of the Archon argument, then Crypteks and Necron Lords are HQ and can be purchased as such. Look at the top of the page in the Necron Codex and note that they are classified as HQ. It's when they are bought in a Royal Court that they don't take up an HQ slot.

I changed it so when you select Unbound or Apocalypse you have the RC as a HQ-option.

At the moment I cannot make the Lord or Cryptek a separate entry without redoing the entire RC, which is a waste of time with the new Codex coming soon.
This does basically the same thing

I was going through the Angel 's Wrath formation, and I noticed that for some reason that the Vanguard Veteran Sergeant can choose a Relic Blade for 0 pts when it should be 25 pts. Am I missing something?

Good thing I realized it before I built my Vanguard Veterans. Now I need to figure out how I am going to get 25 pts back.

Oh, never use a program like this for modelling!
There might always be errors and typo's.
Glad you found the mistake in time!

Edit, I made a new release.
It contains a lot, but this is a summary:

Chaos Marines:
-Kharns Butcherhorde added.
-Changes to VOTLW
-Possessed added as Troops (Crimson Slaughter)
-Fixed Chaos Mark-point modifiers
-Fixed Cultist profile
-Pandorax LoW added: Tower of Skulls and Plaguereaper of Nurgle

Necrons:
-Changed Relics to be unique in the army instead of Detachment
-Renamed 'Detachment-source' to be clearer
-Added Royal Court for Unbound armies
-Tomb Citadel redone

Blood Angels:
-Added Artificer Armour to entries
-Made Warlord Traits optional so it doesn't show up unless you want to.
-Corrected Relic Blade for VV-Sgt
-Renamed 'Detachment-source' to be clearer

Rest:
A lot of small bug and error-fixes.

He's an upgrade for a Company Command Squad.
You switch the Commander with Lord Castellan Creed, which is included in the file.

When selecting An'rakyr the traveller, there's a problem giving the 'Phyrian eternal' (something like that) to a squad of immortals.

If you give the upgrade to a 5-man squad, the app tells you you have 4 too many. So the upgrade counts the amount of models instead of the amount of squads you've upgraded.

Stupid me
The upgrade was per model ánd unique; that means it would always give an error.
I now turned it in a unit-upgrade and it no longer gives errors.
As usual this will be included in the next release.

Thank you, but never forget to learn the Codex and check on stuff.
With the different Detachments, etc, nowadays it's nearly impossible to make this 100% correct.

I see what caused this.
You can take a maximum of 2 items from that entire list, but you always have at least one right and one left-handed item.
Which means the Relics give errors.

Edit: Issue solved.

Thankyou for the reply! Could you check the stats of eldrad ulthran? I'm sure some stuff is missing... the path beyond for example.
Also are you able to separate the various allocations better?
Ie wargear: warlord trait: special rules: psyker...
It is definitely because i am new to the game. Once am familiar with the characters it will be easier! At the moment it is really daunting!

I asked someone to take a look at Eldrad, because I don't know about Eldar.

What do you mean with that separation?
We add entries to units and they are sorted alphabetically.
We could type 'Wargear: ' and 'Warlord Trait: ' before everything, but that would be more annoying than helpful.
Although I do tend to do this for the Trait, since it makes it easier to ignore the trait if he isn't the Warlord.

Kangodo,

Thanks again mate for replying... I think you did understand what I meant. Just trying to separate the different unit allocations into their respective categories, as opposed to the lot being in one line.
I completely see what you are saying... It would all become unnecessary clutter the more familiar I become with the army and the units.

Kangodo, a suggestion regarding Warlord Traits - keep the Trait as "Warlord Trait: X", however add a modifier that hides it if the parent does not have Warlord selected. That way, there is no worry about someone accidentally using "X" Warlord Trait when "Y" is the Warlord.

Yeah, that was my thought too.
But I have to see what it does with the min/max.
A minimum-entry of 1 could interfere with it being hidden.
I will try this for the new Necrons and if it works I will add it to Blood Angels.

Doesn't interfere at all. As long as "Warlord" is a Shared Entry, you basically have this set up:

Bob
- Link: to Warlord
- Rule: "Warlord Trait: Awesome"
- - Hide if Bob has 0 selections of "Warlord"

Oooh I didn't know this thread was a thing.

Awesome app! Truly truly, I recommend it to all newbies at my FLGS. In my 2 years(I think?) of using it, I only had one issue.

I'm linked with Dropbox, iPhone, Android tablet and PC. Problem being if I opened a list on PC/Android, and tried to edit then save the list, it would corrupt it and I couldn't open it on my iPhone anymore. If I started a list on my PC/Android, I couldn't even get past the dropdown menu to choose my rule-set. I think there lied the problem.

I ended up unlinking and redownloading the rule-set on my Tablet and it works fine now, no big deal anyways, the only time I need linking is when I travel for tournaments (haha look at me being all 'pro' 40k, I lose all the time).

I will leave that as it is, but I have added a modifier.
It sets the "relic maximum" to 0 if you take either the Voidreaper or Solar Staff.

Compared to GK's and BA's those lists were soo easy to make.
No Sergeants and a dozen generic HQ's to be bothered with.

We will be publishing an FAQ errata to answer those questions at some point but in the meantime the house rule that we have been using is that a Blood Angels army would need to include a Chaplain and a Space Wolves army would need to include a Rune Priest.

Figured I'd pass this on, if you want to make changes.

Just a small things for the Blood Angels formations. The data files allow multiple purchases of things that cannot be bought, such as addition stormravens or tactial squads for the Angels Fury Spearhead Force, or extra Vanguard or Stormraven for the Archangels Sanguine Wing formation.

BattleScribe Data =] Official Feedback Thread [=  @ 2015/02/18 11:39:24

In a Formation with only 1 entry it automatically blocks any further additions.
Stormravens come in 3/3 so it goes from a bullet-selection to an "Add-button".
The program should give you an error if you accidentally purchase more Stormravens.

It's something I wish I could change, but that is just how the program works since we use links.

Well, for issues like this I would need some more information.
As you can understand the Overlord is a big deal, so that probably means I already added it in version 1. (I did)
So that would mean your version is out of date or your Battlescribe is having issues.

Also, when using Flesh Tearers or Archangels you either get BA Relics or FT/AA relics: Pg 309-ish "The Cryptus Alliance" "Unique Wargear" "Any character with the Blood Angels Faction that can normally select from the Relics of Baal, and is part of a Detachment or Formation presented in this book, can select from those listed in their relevant section instead of from those listed in Codex: Blood Angels at the point cost shown."

I can't find any way to add the small Heavy Support formation option in a Daemonkin formation roster. How can I do that?

Couldn't find a Blood Host force type.

Ivanus Enkomi (forgeworld minotaurs space marines option) forces you to take his upgraded crozium, otherwise it has an error/exlamation mark telling you that you have to take it.

Chaos Lord in the Khorne Daemonkin list has incorrect plasma pistol cost (should be 15, not 30). Indeed, it must still be early in the development for this codex as there were several things that had incorrect point costs.

The program allows for a Tau Firebase Support Cadre Formation to have Signature Systems from the Farsighted Enclave list, when they are unable to since a formation cannot be part of the Farsighted enclave detachment (it is its own with its own rules)

Can someone explain to me how thebattlescribe updates work?

The current Daemonkin list available to download (v9) is rather buggy, but I can see in the file updates that V11 was written days ago, with a host of bug fixes... but it still isn't available to download?

This website tells you which version is the latest release: http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/#/repo/wh40k
The website from Github are the internal updates which we test and work on before we release it.
As you can see the latest release is v9; though I am sure that v11 (including the Blood Host) will be released in a day or two.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't have this book myself.

I went to check out the harlequin rules and noticed that when you take a Masque detachment, it shows errors for not filing minimum requirements unless you fill out all the slots in the entire detachment.
How do you mean, what exactly do you add and what error are you seeing?

Regarding Blood Angels.

Correct, though it does tell you that it replaces the weapon on a Librarian.
So while it does not give you an error, the message should be clear and a bit of Codex-knowledge would tell you that it's illegal.
I could change this and I will change this, it just takes a redoing of the entire BA-Relic system and thus a lot of time, something I don't have at the moment.
And with no time I tend to prioritize big errors and mistakes, I hope you don't mind.

The relics themselves do have limitations, especially in the Archangels.
An example would be the Archangel's Edge which tells us that "One Terminator Sergeant may take".

When you take special weapons with a plague marine squad, the vet of the long war cost isn't also increased.

Skitarii Formation 'Ironstride Cavaliers' are made with 2 UNITS of Dragoons an 1 of Balistarii, not 2 MODELS of the former and 1 model of the latter

And in the Khorne Daemonkin special Detachment, the Maulerfiend options for weapons are wrong (you must choose between power fists and lasher tendrils, while it should be between magma cutters and lasher tendrils)

I fixed this April 13th but it hasn't released yet. It will soon. Sorry I made this mistake in the first draft before the codex released. Thanks for the feedback!

In the Khorne Daemonkin list, the Bloodreaper upgrade for Bloodletters is incorrectly costed at 15 points. In the codex, it is a 5 point upgrade. Just FYI.

In the Elysian drop troop D-99 list, it gives the option to replace the vultures armament with a twin-linked punisher cannon, but it shows an error from this due to not being able to deselect the alternate options

Haemonculus Covens HQs are still limited to one Diabolical Plaything; the book places no restriction on how many they can have.

Also, Shadowseer Hallucinogen Grenade Launcher erroneously lists Blind in its profile.

I was looking at the Baronial Court from the new IK update, and it has two oddities and maybe its just me, but 1.) the formation almost seems to make it look like you take 3 ACTUAL courts to make the error go away, and 2.) this is more of a comment than a complaint, but is there a way to actual mark which Knight is the Lord Baron in the list as Lord Baron isn't always the Warlord?

Thanks again for such an amazing app!

Noc
