Here's the original post, with my first terrible WIP pictures!
Spoiler:
And now, PICTURES!
These are the first 3 Boyz I've started painting. Note the guy to the left, I call him Dakka-dude. Note that these are the first few.
Here you see the way I'm going with the skin. It's a simple Bugman's Glow base with some Reikland Fleshshade, some Cadian Fleshtone highlights and some more Reikland. I'm planning to give them all warpaint.
My first proper 'ead. Note the warpaint on his cheek.
Here's my beloved Trukk. I am in love with the way these look, it feels like it can fall apart any moment.
I just finished converting a Boy to a Loota, and I myself am quite happy with the result.
The Deffgun is made from a Boy Big SHoota and two Shoota barrels.
Well, I'll be giving them some Reikland Fleshshade, possibly some Agrax. I could do some Nuln Oil on them, to simulate oil or gunpowder.
Any other ideas?
Matthew wrote: Thanks! I've obviously been watching too much Braveheart...
And now I have the mental image of an Orc with a beard and a kilt wielding a claymore stuck in my brain.
CURSE YOU FOR GIVING ME CONVERSION IDEAS I CAN'T POSSIBLY EXECUTE!
DUDE
I HAVE GREEN STUFF
I MUST MAKE THIS
JUST AS PLANNED *cackles*
(I have some green stuff myself, but sadly I totally suck at doing anything with it aside from embarrassing myself, so it'd be cool if you could pull it off)
I don't fink dis is a propa ork, dis is one of dose humies! Sure you kan paint dem watever yuu want, but anyfink but humie kolorz. Makes dem feal zenoos!
I've done a few things today: The first thing was to make Green Stuff moulds for all the armour plates that came in the Trukk and Boyz kits. Now I can make some more out of Green Stuff, yay!
Here's my first draft of their bases. It's Stirland mud with a few pieces of sprue highlighted with Zandri Dust, and a tuft of grass. I'm thinking about making some of the bases like swamps, any ideas how?
I'm having progress on the painting. 2 bases are done, expect more tomorrow.
Ladies and people that aren't ladies, I just finished my first Ork. I call him...
Gitkilla Duruz!
Armed with a Slugga and Choppa, he'll kill any git that steals his teef. Don't let his skin colour deceive you, are you racist?
Also, don't worry about his greenshirt, 'cuz dis git aint no greenskin runt!
The Slugga has got a total of 3 layers of shade.
Please... just ignore that blue back banner. Please.
Here's the base. It's Stirland Mud with Candri Dust, a piece of flock and a trim of The Fang.
Dis git haz killed 'im some seven 'umies!
So, there are only a few details left on him, like a few highlights and blood splatter. Tell me what you think!
You mean highlighting with another brighter blue? Sure.
The weapons are pretty simple, it's a coat of Rhinox Hide with Ruza Rust, with a heavy drybrush of Leadbelcher, a coat of Agrax Earthshade followed by Nuln oil, and finally a drybrush of Runefang Steel.
I'm in the process of assembly line-ing 3 more Boyz + my Boss Nob. Now, I've been thinking about adding 'special effects' to him, some of these are:
- Muzzle Flashes at his TL Shoota
- Making his legs look dusty and dirty, as if he's been running through mud
- Making spent Shoota cases out of something, and make them look like they're ejecting from the Shoota
Any more ideas to add to this list? I'll be posting WIP pictures this week.
Drum rolls! I... have not finished any new models. Aw. But, I have been painting. I present to thee, some more horribly painted mini's!
Please note that I have hardly done any shading or highlighting on these. The metal on the Trukk has been given some love, but that's all, it's mostly base paints so far.
Here's how the Trukk looks so far. Notice the red details, it goez fasta! The yellows are there to show the owner's wealth, and the blue is a prayer to the dice gods, to help me keep this vehicle more than 2 turns in a game.
Here you see the front, and the teef skulptur on the front. Please, ignore my horrible attempts on highlighting the black 'ard areas.
This is the weird exhaust thing. It's painted in Balthasar Gold, but I have nooo idea where to go next with it.
Here's my Boss Nob. Notice his yellow TL Shoota, and his red Power Klaw. I'm planning to make his double-clip red, to allow him to reload faster.
That is it for now. I've been thinking about adding a muzzle flash to the Shoota, just to try out OSL-ing. Any ideas how that could be done?
I found this, the description to it says it's 11.7 centimetres long. Would this work, with the trailer part of a Trukk used as a Howdah. Would it work as a Squiggoth?
Guys, say hi to my Boss Nob! He's not entirely done yet, the lighting looks weird and the picture doesn't really do him justice. I promise, he looks better in person.
Here's his handsome back. As I said, he's not done yet.
And yes, I made him a hat.
What do you guys think? Notice the red and yellow details, 'e's got tunz uf teef un dakka!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Guys, after 2 days of cross-threading, I present to thee... The elephant I bought to convert to a Squiggoth! The Hippo was too small, so this oughta work instead.
There you see its scaly skin.
A size comparison of a Trukk and the 'phant. The elephant is a few centimetres higher, though.
Spoiler:
Here's the elephant with my Boss Nob. Note his sexy green things.
I'm planning to sculpt a lower jaw, make one or two more horns, and, obviously, a Howday.
Currently building on my Howdah right now, also making plans for a bionic eye and/or leg.
Automatically Appended Next Post: here's my first draft of the Howdah's floor. It's made of posicle sticks and glue gun glue. It's about 5.8 cm long, making it fit perfect onto my elephant. Here's how it looks on the elephant. Would this work for a Kannon/Lobba scratch build? I'm thinking about how I should make the armour on his side, does this work? The stomach bulges out about .5 cm, which makes it hard for a proper suit of armour.
Hey, I use those coffee stirrer sticks in my work, too. Unsolicited protip: carry them around in your pocket with your keys and loose change for a few days. The stuff dings them up in a natural and realistic looking way. Also, use a clipper to get rid of the rounded ends, otherwise they just look like coffee stirrer sticks.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, why not mold the armor to its sides? Or construct an angled plate to conform to the beast's side?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry for all the posts, but don't limit yourself to what you think you can do. Always challenge yourself to do the things you've never done and don't stop until you've made it something you /can/ do.
I've been working on my Howdah today, this is how long I've gotten. I can't really say I like it, but it's what I've been able to make. Does anyone know if cardboard, the kind that you find on cereal boxes, warps? Otherwise I could use it for armour.
I think it looks pretty good atm, maybe trim the edges a bit to make them less rounded? Orks like their stuff spiky after all
Also, cereal box cardboard should be relatively easy to bend, just be sure not to bend it too far or you'll get creases everywhere.
Looking forward to see how this turns out, I was planning on converting a Lizardmen Stegadon into an Trukk/Squiggoth, but scratchbuilding one starts to appeal to me more and more
I think it's great, a nice deviation from the green tide everyone's used to
I'm personally gonna stick to my greens (mostly because I'm pretty bad at painting fleshtones), but to me, Orks will always be Orks, regardless of skin colour
How nice to see non-skinned orks. It is a bit weird but it works well!
Matthew wrote: I've done a few things today: The first thing was to make Green Stuff moulds for all the armour plates that came in the Trukk and Boyz kits. Now I can make some more out of Green Stuff, yay!
You could use Milliput for that purpose as well. It is better (can be made thinner, for better detail, with water) and a lot cheaper.
Sorry for not posting lately. I've ben busy with the Squiggoth, and, most importantly, I've joined this contest, in which I have posted theseWIP's.
I'll let you figure out what this is, a Catachan strongman, a Himalayan Bison or an Ork in Power Armour? YOU decide! Yeah, the contest ends in a month, so I'll have to speed the painting up. Should I prime him white or black, and should I do the skin my way or the green way?
Guys, for those who don't understand what these Orks do, if they haven't read the, you know, name of the waband, then let me demonstrate this perfect GIF: Imagine the Marine's an ork, the Bolter's a Slugga, and... Well, you probably get it.
Guys, I'm back, on Pi day! Yesterday I picked up a Savage Orc Big Boss to convert to a Warboss with 'eavy Armour, a Big Choppa and a Kombi-Skorcha. This is how far I've come:
Metal gob, shoulder pad and stomach plates.
Finally, another update. I'm not sure if anyone actually follows this, but if anyone does, here comes an update.
I have finished a total of 4 Boyz now, with 6 more on the way.
I've settled for a Gray-Green colour scheme on their clothes, mostly because it looks pretty good.
That's the Nob, the most fun one to paint. I took the head from a box of Stormboyz.
That was my poor attempt at doing checkers. I'll just stick with one colour.
All 4 Boyz together.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Check this out. The last few weeks I've been participating in paradigm's painting challenge. Here's my finished model.
+++FINISHED MODEL ALERT+++
Paradigm, I've been following this since the beginning. I was one of the first few who wanted to do this. And now, my model stands finished.
I present to thee, DA LOOTA
When the forces of WAAAGH! Deff'ead reached the planet of Hythred, the Space Marines there did put up with a fight, until they faced their biggest fears: Orks. In Power Armour. After a Space Marine is killed, the Meks and Painboys steal their armour, and puts a 'volunteer' inside of it. Soon, he is a killing machine, who can dakka down everyone, at the same time as he's being protected by mighty armour.
It's been fun, Para. Thank you.
Nice work on the Boyz, just one question: why are the trims of the bases different colours? Is it a colour-code for their rank or class (like the BA do with their 'blue helmets for Devestators, yellow ones for Assault etc' approach)? Because that's actually a cool idea, which I might end up stealing
Also, Orks in Power Armour! A frightening thought indeed! His face is a bit bloody tho, it almost looks like he ate the Marine before stealing his kit

Why thank you! The trims of their bases are colour-coded. A normal Boy/Loota/Stormboy/Grot/Flash Git have trims painted in the Fang, therefore they have blueish grey trims. All HQ's and Boss Nobs have trims in Evil Sunz Scarlet. This is just to let me quickly see the leader in a game.
Is the face too bloody? I actually want him to look pretty grimdark (because, y'know... 40k...)
Never thought of using the trim for colour-coding before, that's a great practical solution you've got here
As for the Ork in PA, personally, I think he's a little bit too bloody, it's like he was punched in the face a couple of times before he was sent into battle
But it's all up to you in the end, if you like bloody-faced Orks, go for it
WAAAGH! I just acquired 6 WHFB Orcs, and I have set out to convert them to 40K. My plan is to buy a box of 40K and WHFB Boyz, and then... well, convert them_ i dunno. Anyways, here are some photos of my progress. I just need to strip them and I will be ready for painting.
I want these to be Shoota Boyz.
Huh, they\re made out of 2 kinds of plastic, weird.
Just some stripping left.
Guys, this is not Ork related, it's just... Painting related? I don't know, don't ask me. Anyways, a friend gave me a ton of WHFB mini's, including the Orks and 17 Empire Riflemen!
I'm planning to paint them up in a historical scheme, either a Napoleonic (British, French or Prussian) or a Swedish 18th Century look. What do you guys think?
I'll need to strip and glue them a bit more, but still, does it sound good? I would love 17 Swedes with muskets, now I just need an Elk for King Carl XVI.
Yeah, I actually thought of making an entire army with no heads, and sculpting screaming mouths inside their necks. Seems like they'd be screaming "Hmmmph! Dkkwghhmp!!!!!"
I've been a bit lazy regarding my Squiggoth, mostly because... well, it's easter, and seeing as I'm non-Christian, I've just been playing CS: GO and painting stuff. But, to the Squiggoth:
Here are two pictures that might e relevant (relephant? Ba-Dum-Tss!)
The first one is my original plan. If I cut of the ears, I'll have a lot more space to play with, and it'll look like less of an elephant.
The second one is just terrifying, but say I cut off both the trunk and the ears and sculpted a mouth, wouldn't it look... pretty sweet?
Cool stuff, maybe rough up or round the trunk stump. Congrats on the more human skin for the orks. God knows I don't have the patience to layer different colours.
Well if the howda isn't glued on, then there is still time to order a plastic llama. Or, just get one of the Lord of the rings oliphants or whatever they are and put orks in it. Now that would be awesome.
Okay, this conversation got a bit Orky there! The Squigglth's coming along nicely, now it's just some fine details left, and then I can start painting!
Ahh nice, a Squiggoth, I have 2 in the pipe line to be made but as I'm slow to get anything done yours will most likely be long finished before I even start.
Sorry for the dark pictures! I've primed the Squiggoth and painted it with Rhinox Hide.
Any ideas on how I should paint the skin? I'm thinking a dark green?
So I've made a Kannon/Lobba, plus a crewman.
Needs more rivets? Yeah.
"Help! They... They're coming in, we couldn't stop them! Send reinforcements, we can't hold them much- AAAAAAH!"
"BLOOOD! FOR THE BLOOD GOOOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! FOR KHORNE!"
--++--
KHORNE DAEMONKIN
Some of you might not know that I also collect Chaos Marines. After going to my FLGS and seeing 2 other people having Daemonkin, I thought eh, what the gak, why can't I have them? I want to have a Daemon-themed Daemonkin army. Even though my favourite god is Nurgle, and Nurgle Daemonkin might come out soon, I just love Khorne so much!
So, what do I currently have? Well...
That's all I have. Now, what will I need? Obviously some Bloodletters. I'm thinking of a colour scheme, how about pale Bloodletters? Say Khorne Red (duh) with Rakarth Flesh as a highlight? I don't know, I'll have to pick up a box soon. And a codex. I'll need a codex.
I don't want to spam Marines as troops, because I don't like MEQ that much.
My HQ guy, kitbashed from Vrosh Tattersoul. Is this paint scheme good?
Ezra Tyrius wrote: Khorne worship eh? Guess that's what happens when you're around war-loving Orks all the time
Pale Bloodletters sound really cool, maybe you could try Rakarth Flesh with a red wash?
Also, your Chaos Marine looks pretty cool, some more pics would be nice tho The colour scheme reminds me a bit of the Night Lords
Why thank you! Although, this guy is the only one I've finished... Maybe I should get painting?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's a pic that'll give you an idea of how the Bloodletter skin might end up like:
Yeah, it's ona tau thingy, but what do you think? Would it look good on a Bloodletter?
Looks pretty good, I think it would work well on Bloodletters (I would test it on one model first though, before you paint the lot of them and then realize it doesn't look as good as anticipated )
That looks like some kind of Tau model. Have you secretly converted to the greater good? Yay, come brother, join those of us who have been enlightened, discard those silly close combat addicts and don an awesome mech suit with loads of oversized guns. Clearly the way to go.
Guys, come on, I really need a paint scheme. I've got a few ideas:
1: Iceletter. I've seen someone who did this exact thing on some other forum. I paint the whole thing a dark blue, make the sword look like ice, and give him a snow base. 2: Metallic. Painting them gold/bronze all over. Might look fancy.
Love how these look. Any idea what paints were used?
Same with this guy. Maybe he's from the same squad...
Great stuff though, i did a khornate ork project a ways back and had loads of fun with it. Looks like youre running them as actual orks right? Sorry if i missed it.
Not really an update, just have a question I need to ask: I remember using a Daemon painting software, similar to the ones you can use for digitally painting Marines. It looked exactly like a Bolter And Chainsword painter. Any idea where I can find it?
CREEEEEED, you called and I answered. Dadadadada, dadada dadadadaaaa! Dadadadaa dadadadadaaa...
I didn't like the current armour plates, so I thought stacking tons of popsicle sticks might brink the bulk up, plus look a bit better. What do you guys think?
Also, daemons. I'll be ordering some Bloodletters tonight, don't worry. Also, can someone give me a good name for the whole Plog? I just cant come up with one.
It sort of looks like it's wearing a skirt now I think the armour plates could work if they formed the sides of the howdah as they went higher up on the Squiggoth, instead of following the curve of the Squiggoth's side (I hope that makes any sense to you)
Thank you! I was actually going for a Cataphract look on it, but I'm not sure if I can add anything else. I've been sticking bitz to the howdah, and it's starting to look finished! Now I just need a base...
I was searching through my old toy boxes when I found this bad boy:
A cheap chinese plastic pistol. Aw yeah. Yeah, might not seem like much, but I'm bored, so I've decided to make this into a 40k-esque thingy.
I want it to be a Khornate Cultists Stub Pistol, stolen from a manofactorum. I will hopefully upload some updates on the Squiggoth soon, I need to re-prime it again with the wood and all.
heres an idea, if your going with snakebites try getting your hands on a godzilla toy and convert him into a mega dread (i have bought a fairly good sized one myself and plan to do the same myself).
you could say its either a strange squigoth or some creature the orks found on a death world.
Although I'm not doing Snakebites, I have actually been thinking about using say a DV Helbrute + Green Stuff as a Deff Dread, although the Godzilla idea sounds awesome.
By the way, Daemonkin can ally normal Daemons! Nurgleeeeee!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Please forgive me for not updating this plog for a while, I'm still waiting for the Daemons to arrive. While waiting, I've started thinking about scratch building an Ork Trukk out of cardboard. Now, this gives me one little question: Does cardboard warp when primed?
I STILL have no excuse for not updating! Yay? Nay.
I have, on top of the gazabajilinon other projects I've got going, I have decided to start scratchbuilding a Trukk. Oh no. The Daemons I ordered haven't arrived yet, although I did order them last wednesday, and it's been over 7 workdays )they said it would take 3-5). Anyone else been having that kind of experience with Wayland Games?
This is just the basic frame.
Me trying to build up the cockpit. Heh. Pit.
This was an early WIP, when I wanted to make an enclosed cockpit. (What's it even called? dunno)
Since I can't make wheels myself and don't have enough toy wheels, I'm making this into a Half-Track... Or Half-TRUKK
Get it? Because Trukk, and Ork and...
My attempt at an exhaust. I'm trying to make pipes running all over the thing. Straws are nice for this.
They might flex when painting, I don't know, but if you coat them in super glue it probably won't create a nice surface, whereas if you just spray it black it should be ok to paint on.
I... suck at P&M. I've been painting a little, but I haven't uploaded in, like, a week. For some reason, my shipment from Wayland Games haven't arrived yet. It's been 15 days, the money has been taken from the bank account, but no e-mail. Nothing.
I don't have any finished models for you guys, but I do have some WIPs:
I'm painting the DV Helbrute like I want to paint my Daemons.
Squiggoth! Painting it grey like an... an elephant???
For those who want to stalk me, here's a photo of my painting space. Beautiful, innit?
Also, this guy. An 'Ard Boy. He's in Paradigm's contest. I will fail.
Thanks! I have no idea what to do with the trees, but still.
OnT, here's a plan for my Daemons: Paint with Rakarth Flesh, Wash with Reikland, Drybrush heavily with Rakarth, Wash with Nuln Oil, drybrush WHITE. Eh? Eh???
Hm, maybe I could switch the Nuln with Drakenhof? Blue would look a bit cooler... And yes, I'll probably end up layering. Should I do Pallid Wych instead of white?
Matthew wrote: Hm, maybe I could switch the Nuln with Drakenhof? Blue would look a bit cooler... And yes, I'll probably end up layering. Should I do Pallid Wych instead of white?
I dont really use white that much. Just find it to harsh and stark. Depending what I'm doing I use either pallid wych or ulthan grey but that's just me. for skin - I'd defintiely go with the pallid - thta's what I used on this guy and the other chaos cultists. rakarth, wash, rakarth, pallid wych. Hope it helps
'Ello my gentlemen and women! I have an excellent excuse for not updating recently, it includes knees, curses and injuries. You guys want to hear it?
Anyways, here are a few pictures:
My stormboyz are coming along! I just love the face of that poor grot...
Daemons. Bloodletters. Lava. Bloodletter with lava skin?
Say I painted my Bloodletters (whichs till haven't arrived, WAYLAND) like they're made of lava, with a grey surface, which is cracking in a few places, showing what they truly are? (The answer is lava.)
Not exactly an update, and not exactly painting related, but:
Any Swedes here with knowledge on what things I can use for stripping? Swedish brands preferably, for metal and plastic.
Should I update more often? I update maybe once or twice a week, should I try to update more often?
And, what's a good start for a Daemonkin force?
Lava effect's looking great! Can't wait to see those Daemons
I personally use brake fluid for stripping, you'll need to buy some of those plastic glove-thingies the doctors always wear to use it safely though, the stuff's not too good for your skin
Update-wise, I'm terrible at consistently updating my own threads, so I'm afraid I can't help you there
The lava's pretty simple, want a tutorial? Of course you do! It's a piece of sprue with a layer of Evil Sunz Scarlet. I paint the lower 2/3rds with Fire Dragon Bright, making sure to cover the red. Then I paint the bottom third with Yriel Yellow, When all that's dry, I glaze it with a red glaze. When that's dry, I add random yellow and red splotches, before covering with Agrellan Earth, and drybrushing black and grey. You are welcome!
I'll be painting the whole models like lava, and making the crack effect at higher points, where I'd gihlight normally.
Well, that reeks of effort, something I am not willing to use on average grunts. I also don't have most of those paints. Still, thankyou, if I ever need lava, I'll come back here. Also, I looked at the youtube page. Yeah.

Blah blah competitive blah maximum Flesh Hounds. The most competitive looks like spamming that Hound + Biker pack.
Even if you don't care about tournaments (they suck!) Flesh Hounds are a bit of a crutch for the rest of the Khorne stuff, which even in daemonkin is a bit average. You can make cheapo hounds out of Dire Wolves and stuff painted red, and a lot of people think they look better than the weird reptile things that are the proper models. Would seriously recommend you take a fair few as they make up for taking whatever the heck you like with the rest of your points
Bloodletters are also really cool, as you can give them an icon and then just deep strike them. As long as one unit lands, the others can then auto-land nearby, or even chain auto-landings to get exactly where you want. Sure they'll be dead the next turn but the rest of your army gets into combat by that point
Consider running the Helbrutes in that Helbrute/Cultist formation, makes the cultists fearless and gives the Helbrute 3+ cover from them or something. Its pretty cool actually
Use the bases, it makes the game smoother, without arguments over how far a base would theoretically extend, since the rules are written assuming that there is a base.
First of all, go to YouTube. Search 'Ride of the valkyries'. Skip to the cool part. Then read this.
5 pics, right? Spoilered down below, if you want more I've put them all in my P&M Blog, check the link in my signature for it.
Spoiler:
The Angels of Iron. A thousand years ago, during one of the many crusades of Chaos, the Emperor punished the chapter for letting some of their battle-brothers fall to Chaos. Almost every single Marine was executed, spare for a hundred Assault Marines, who fled to a distant planet, where they entered an induced coma. When Chaos reached that planet, the Warp started whispering to them. The Emperor had killed their brothers. The Emperor had betrayed them. The Emperor is their enemy.
Sometimes, one can see Angels of Iron assist Daemon Prince Garaghak in his crusade. They appear out of nowhere, and shout their hatred against the Emperor out from their speakers. If Space Marines are the Angels of Death, these are the Daemons of Death.
Story time over! That's my entry for this month. This is a huge step for me, because this is the first time I try OSL. Look at the Plasma Pisto, and the Jump Packs. Eh?
If you guys haven't noticed, the 'Vote for the winner' thread is up for May's painting comeptition! Take your time, look at the contestants, and consider voting for me!
I always think of blues and earth tones for vikings but that may be the Swede in me! I think the viking look is more in the gear itself than set colors.
OR...
If you want to make people vomit go with the old purple and gold...
Why did I want to know a colour associated with Vikings? I am totally not doing a Viking themed Bezerker force. Hahaha.
Today, I stripped a few models of paint, including a few Marines, a Rhino and a Helbrute. I'll be repainting them in my new colour scheme, stay tuned!
The primer's left a wonky black residue, but I think it looks really cool.
The plan is to do several highlights of Khorne Red, Abaddon Black and Evil Sunz Scarlet. I'm going for a slightly darker Daemon scheme than the GW one.
Here's an update! The Rhino's looking fabulous, I've basecoated it Leadbelcher, drybrushed some Ryza Rust, applied a Bloodletter Glaze, a Leadbelcher drybrush and a light drybrush with Runefang Steel.
I'm thinking about making all the panels that are lower than the main hull in Khorne Red, and then drybrushing that with Leadbelcher. Any other ideas?
... Sorry dude, I actually did drybrush some Evil Sunz Scarlet in some places. But trust me, it looks good. It just looks like a more red version of the rust. And it doesn't coveer up the rust effect.
Also some somewhat good news: I will be going on VACation.(Anyone gets that joke? Eh? Eh?) This friday, I'll be sailing in the Swedish Skärgård (literal translation: Cutting Garden) with my Scout Group, I'll be home by the next Wednesday. And the 11th of July I'll be going on a roadtrip through Europe, I'll be away for 3-5 weeks, so I might not be able to participate in the July and August painting contests. If Dakka had an option to schedule updates like YouTube, I'd be able to give you guys updates once or twice a week. Well, I guess you'll just have to live without seeing crappy pictures of crappily painted plastic men a few times a week!
I am back from the vacation, yay! I need to get started on my DP, I'm going to go to my country place soon, I'm not sure how much I will be able to paint. Also, I will be away for most of July and August.
Anyways, here are a few pictures:
Le Rhino. I've tried to mute down the red a bit, does it look good? Also, you might not see it, but I've started painting on some gold details, on the windows, some spikes, etc.
Here's the side, with a dead Cadian's coat on it. Nice.
Spoiler:
Here's my DP. I know the highlights look a bit birght, is there a way to dull it down? Thanks.
Not an update, just we writing a wall of text. I've already written this once, and it deleted itself so here we go again:
I want to do Space Wolves. Just a small 500-1000 points force for fun and converting. I want them to be gray, just google 'grey apace wolves' and you'll see. Does anyone know what paints I will need for those schemes? Preferably GW paints.
I want to do conversions. After googling around a bit, I found a perfect solution: WHFB Dwarfs. There's this one kit with big axes, hammes, shields and viking heads, that would be perfect for a viking-esque Puppy army.
I am going to buy say 20 Tactical Wolves, 5 Fenrisian Wolves, and one or two Dwarf kits. This will give me enough for my first 500 points. And, I'll be able to convert squats! Yay
So, my army list right now is:
+++ New Roster (506pts) +++
++ Space Wolves: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) (506pts) ++
+ No Force Org Slot
Lone Wolf (56pts) [2x Fenrisian Wolf
····Power Armour [Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak Grenades, Frost Axe
Lone Wolf (33pts) [Fenrisian Wolf
····Power Armour [Chainsword, Frag & Krak Grenades, Storm Bolter
I do have a valid excuse for that: I'll be away on vacation for 3-5 weeks now, and THEn I can do the squiggoth. I'm thinking about redoing it completely, I think the cataphract look I wanted looks ugly.
Furthermore, Space Wolves. Grey, with red arms and legs.
Like that. The shoulder pads are for a Blood Claw, I'll obviously paint them according to which unit they belong to.
Arin Björnfist, a warrior who several times has been invited to join the prestigious Wolf Guard, but who has said no every time, to stay with his pack members.
Banke Northgaze. A fierce warrior, who loves to see enemies melt before his beloved Melta.
Finn Stonefist, the leader of the pack. He charges into combat with his mighty Power Fist.
(NO NAME, please suggest) The Rune Priest (and current Warlord). Converted from Space Wolves pack bitz, yay!
Eirik Wolfborn, Lone Wolf. Not much is known about this warrior. After a long war against Chaos Forces, he was the only one left of his group of Grey Hunters. He wandered out, into the wilderness, and returned with his armour full of scratches and wolf pelts. He never talks to anyone.
That's just 5 of 12 upcoming puppies, plus 5 Fenrisian Wolves. More pictures coming up soon. Oh, and sorry for the dark pictures.
This is my first ever Space Wolf. I've been thinking a lot about what colour scheme to choose for him, and ultimately, all the other puppies. Yesterday, I realised that although the blue-grey GW scheme looks good, it doesn't fit the Space Wolves. They're 3 meter tall, drinking mad men who kill things! They shouldn't look like the walls of a new borns room! That's when I realised, why not make them... white? Just thinking about it makes it seem awesome. Although making them completely white would be hard, I decided that grey is the way to go. So, I present to you... Banke Northgaze!
Please forgive my horrible painting skills. His backstory is that when he was a Blood Claw, he and his pack where ordered to clear a huge building from Cultists and Gangers. 20 walked in, and 10 came out. Banke had picked up a Flamer from a fallen brother, and casually strolled in. He emptied tanka fter tank of Prometheum at the Heretics, before the building collapsed on him. He was presumed dead.
Two days later, Banke appeared at his packs campsite. His face was charred, and his hair was burnt of the right side of his head. His right eye was gone. He refused medical attention.
So, guys, how do you like the grey? It's a bit ugly now, but I bet it'll look better after I've painted a few more Wolves.
I will probably not update in 3-5 weeks from today, sorry about that, I'll be going on a looooooong vacation. Here are a few Grey Hunter pics.
As you can see, the grey is waaaaaaay cleaner than before.

Automatically Appended Next Post: I just saw that the armour looks a bit brown/red-ish in a few pictures, that's because I've got a bright lamp that glows yellow-y. The armour's grey only.
There, you happy now? I'll be in Switzerland in two days, sso I'll be away for a while, but please do comment and tell your friends and all that picnizzle. Thanks!
Hello people! Although I am on vacation, I can still upload some things, thanks to the wonderful invention of free Wifi. So, a few things:
Picture number one: guess who came along! Can an Ork horde conquer the mighty Hive City of Roma?
Second picture: I've been sketching on a few designs for my SW great company. Some of these might not be... Appropriate, but I found one:
Picture numbero drei: Ta-Daa? I don't want to have a wolf to freehand on every single mini, so this seemed like a good solution. I have no idea what it is.
Yeah, just saw that. I fix, no worries. By the way, I'm home now, yay! Me and a friend will soon start making literal fethtons of terrain, I'll probably make a different P&M for that, just because we've got some things planned...
Also, new things. I'll try to paint atleast an hour or so a day, just to finish my Orks. I hope I'll have some spare money from the vacation to buy some shinies for me
Not too much of an update, but I just spent 2 hours learning to edge highlight. I hate myslef. And love myself. I kind off did it. Yay?
It's Eshin Grey, 50/50 of Agrax and Nuln Oil, and Dawnstone. Yeah.
The elders speak of an ancient monster, who roams the plains of [RECORD EXPUNGED], searching for its prey. The Blackmaned wolf stalks any man who dares go into their territory, but it's rumoured that they attack anyone they see, including the [RECORD EXPUNGED]
Forgive my Ezra Tyrius-y story telling, not good at it. Long story short, I painted a few wolves. With snow base. Nice.

You're one cheeky bugger, Matthew Have you been snooping through a certain library lately?
He's pretty much finished! Just a few fine highlights and his snowy base, and he's done!
Notice the weathering? Not the best, this was my first try.
++SIGNAL INTERRUPTED++
++NEW TRANSMISSION ACCEPTED++
blablabla Black Maned wolf bla bla bla Ezra Tyrius bla bla bla, he's done.
Good ol' PVA and baking soda (baking powder?) and a lil' paint does make a pretty cool snow base. Give it some shiny varnish, and it look's like thick snow on a December day!
I tried to integrate some snow into the fur, but it went as well as it does in Sweden... ahahaha... political jokes...
A few more lads coming thru'!
Automatically Appended Next Post: By the way, according to my phone, I've spent 5 hours and 12 minutes painting today. Nice.
Why yes, it truly is! Muahahahaha!
It's just for painting, it's a bit more comfortable to hold them. Not sure wheter I should cover all bases in snow or just a few patches.
I've started to build something bigger now, a real building. That is a blueprint, and although it's in Swedish, you probably get it: a 2 level building, complete with ramps, doors and windows. Yes! So much win!
I started out with a modest product placement...
...and started cutting out the cardboard pieces.
A few hours later...
Ta daa!
The PVA hasn't hardened yet, and the hot glue is still... hot?
The ramp itself. I build the whole thing wide enough so that two normal infantry guys can walk alongside eachother.
Right now I'm working on the second floor and the roof.
Man, I'm jealous. He wanted to go for a elite sneaky beaky special ops demolition team look.
First guy. Armed with a Power Fist with a Grav Gun underneath it and several Melta Bombs, he's the one who blows things up.
I didn't snap a picture of the other guy, but he has a silenced Bolter with a Shotgun/Grenade Launcher and a Plasma Detcharge. He also carries a Vox and loads of extra ammo.
The guy to the left is just like he was in the last picture, and the oe to the right has been given a verdigris looks. Would the verdigris work on the 'I want YOU' guy? Also, yes, that is too much snow, I'm just experimenting.
nice job man. looks a little dark but i think thats just the lighting in the photo. If you can - light the fig from two (or even 3; left, right and above) sources to fully show it up and eliminate shadows. Good work though
Guys, just got an idea. Have you seen the new Mad Max movie? I won't spoil it, but it's like Immortan Joe and V8, and like Tom hardy and BOOOOOOM and they have War Boys... Way Boys? WAR BOYZ!?!?!? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! BOYZ!!!!
The posters is a paper with the posters printed on (I need to find a link to that), glue on to a piece of cardboard with some holes, washed with Seraphim Sepia, and the holes with Nuln Oil. I'll get a pic tomorrow.
CREEEEEEEEED wrote: How do you make the posters, and could you put them next to a model for scaling please?
if you hit up google image search with a search like 'imperial guard posters' or Ãmperial guard propaganda' etc you'll get loads of posters examples. download the image and the resize it in any simple program adn then print on cheapo paper (recyled paper works really well for old poster qualiy) few washes with some shades adn youre good to go
Hello everyone! I just need to ask you a question: should the Space Wolves be uniform (etc all dark grey armour) or should I paint them as a huge M/90 camo pattern, with alternating grey, light grey and dark grey all over the armour?
Also, Orks. Should I base them like my Wolves (etc forest-y) or like they're in an urban wasteland ala Fallout?
Hey min, Fallout style for the Orks I would say, as they have a Super Mutant-ish skin tone going on and if you're linking in a Mad Max theme it seems to mesh together quite well. Maybe a few small patches of Parched grass/weeds to break it up.
SW don't seem to be the kind to go for camo; as it's more of a Sensible Marine thing; but nevertheless I think it would look awesome!
Nice work with the snow as well!
I was actually just thinking of painting some of the different armour panels in different shades of grey, say i have Eshin grey as a basecoat, I'll paint the greaves in Dawnstone, maybe an arm in black, a leg in mechanicus standard grey, etc.
Alright, sorry for not updating for a week. I just have to say, it's my birthday! My awesome family got me not only a crepeston of paints but also some TWC and drumroll please...
Thanks! Of course it's not the FW ones, I'm not David Attenborough. It's a set that lets me assemble all Knights from Paladin to Errant to Crusader and all that. Magnets!
Now, I really like my new Imperial Knight, although... its default pose looks boring. You know, the legs? Nah. too static. Sure, it looks good if you're making a gunline army, but what if you want it to be a bit more dynamic? Look no further!
That's the result. The left foot is standing on 8mm thick cork, plus a dead Ork. That would be impossible to make without either cutting things, or...
You see that? The little pad thing that connects the leg to the foot is only half glued on, which gives room for any kind of piston, tube or pipe that's the proper size. I used some q-tips. This raises the leg up a bit, which allows for a leg to stand a bit higher. Thanks for reading!
Oh my god. That squiggoth conversion howdah thing, is looking really good at the moment! Choice of elephant is good - what the ork- I mean ORCS used in lord of the rings anyway. I am going to suggest more spikes, but otherwise very resourceful way of making a howdah.
Januine wrote: sweet stuff. smart work using the cottonbuds to lengthen the legs. The Omnissah approves this fiddling!!!
Excuse me sir but this tampering with a sacred Imperial Knight is heresy and grounds for execution or servitude. Both you and Matthew are to report to Mars.
Oh wow, the Squiggoth! I forgot about that guy! I promise I'll do something, I want to remove the cataphract style armour and make him a bit more eavy. Wow! A blast from the past! I don't think I've done anything with it for half a year. Sorry guys!
Just dumping some pictures here. Base! Anything elseI should add? I've got an Ork being stomped, a decapitated Ork and nothing else... It feels somewhat blank. I've been thinking about adding a Fenrisian Wolf, is that a good idea?
Yes. That is definitely a yes. To make the next one YEs^2 you could have gim coming out of lava or something, as if he's been forged in some ungodly pit in the warp.
The sword will look like lava, with black crackle paint and glowing orange and reds underneath, and I'll probably do lava/ash waste bases. Oh man, am I reviving my Chaos guys again? Come on!
Everyone, I read a comment on my terrain thread, that says I should enter Armies on parade. If I still paint in a year from now, what army should I enter? Space Wolves or Mad Max Orks? Also, I'm sorry. To everyone who followed this from the beginning, I promise I will finish my Squiggoth some day (kappa).
First of all, thank you to Buttery Commissar (spelling?) for arranging everything this month. I had a blast! Now, fluff and stuff. Unlimited pics right? Thirteen of 'em incoming.
"What do we do Sir!?"
Guardsman Jonah shouted. He was aiming his flamer at an approaching Tyranid, a fierce creature, that had killed all of his squadmates. The ground around him was on fire. "We have to warn the HQ, we should run for it!"
Captain Hogar shook his head. A beheaded Tyranid laid at his feet, his chainsword covered in blood. Human blood. He had been forced to kill several of his friends after they had been wounded by the monsters.
"We won't make it if be both run... You go. I'll distract them."
Jonah's jaw dropped. "What? No, you can't do that!"
"Yes, I can. You run. Run as fast as you can. Get to the HQ. Warn them. And Jonah..."
Jonah turned around and faced his captain, just in time to see him running against the edge of a cliff, preparing to jump.
"NEVER TELL ME THE OOOOOODDS!"
Jonah heard the fizz of a plasma pistol being fired and a chainsword whirring. He knew that although his captain was going down, he was going down in style.
Pictures (FINISHED!)
Spoiler:
I'm sorry for the bad photos... I hope you like it.
I need y'alls opinion, weathering: Should I make them clean and crisp or should I drybrush them a bit with Necron Compound to simulate weathering? I can't be bothered with fancy weathering, I hate it.
Sorry for not posting, guys! I've been busy... with pretty much nothing. I mean, I played a cool-arse apoc game this week, but yeah... Also, magnetic levitation... any tips? muahahahaha
I promise, a lightbox/seetup will be fixed.
A squad of puppies on the way!
And yeah, terribly sorry! How can I make it up to you guys? You know what, I'll let you decide what to do next. K?
