FREEBIES:

Raging Heroes, who are working on completing their first Toughest Girls of the Galaxy Kickstarter will soon be launching their second project, which will focus on both fantasy and sci-fi versions of the Dark Elves and Sisters of Battle.

The DATE: Our next Kickstarter is launching on MARCH 25!!! With Early Bird pledges, of course!

So here it is: our Dark Elves and our Sisters Kickstarter will run from March 25 to April 8.

It is called TGG2: Darkness and Light (follow the link for the latest until we launch).

It will only last 2 weeks! We've nicknamed it the BlitzKick...

It will feature 6 armies: 3 in Fantasy, 3 in Sci-Fi (following army names may still change):

3 - Sisters of the Orphanage
Science-Fiction:

4 - Void Elves Hunters
5 - Void Elves Flesh Reapers, (a sub-tribe of our regular Void Elves who have made lust and death their religion)

Funding six armies in two weeks in madness. This thread will undoubtedly be entertaining as all get up though. So I'm buckling my seatbelt.

Raging Heroes is no doubt pining for the same effect they had last time where they reached (and overshot) their initial funding goal in mere minutes.

Whether this effect can be replicated after the first campaign's long and arduous journey (which is still underway for many) remains to be seen.

I will be pledging for a single miniature myself, my Guard still needs a good priest or two.

So, twice as many armies in half the time? I suspect it'll mostly be characters with a unit or two per faction, rather than the other way around.

Some predictions (in no particular order)
Arbitrary funding level that they can blow through in minutes - $20-30k.
Somewhat elastic stretch goals during the first period, whilst they drink wine and get around to posting them.
Better communication, at least at first.
Always reaching for another unlock, rather than stopping themselves from over promising
Another entertaining Dania thread.
Delays, resculpts and changes after the fact.

That said, if they have actually learnt things, much of the above may not come to pass. Either way, I'll probably back, at least for a dollar to get updates.

Guessing they are going for new blood as i am not sure that people who are still waiting for their stuff will invest in this kickstarter.

That poor priestess, she definitely needs to see a doctor. It's amazing she can stand at all, what with her spine and hips not being connected.

There are plenty of backers of the first one who will gladly tell you to be quiet and take the waiting like a hero, because the wait will be worth it. Only question is, when you finally have mini's in hand, will you still be needing them for that one project or army build?

Expect to see many girls posed like that, it is one of the trademark styles running throughout these armies.

I'm glad this thread hasn't succumbed the the negativity of the TGG thread

Admittedly I'm also blown away by the fact that its only 13 days long.....That seems very improbable that they are gonna have a good campaign

Like I said before, they are probably hoping to repeat the quick-fund miracle of the first campaign, though with double the amount of armies now. There's also less hype involved this time round, though that may still be ramped up as the final launch date comes ever closer.

Jesus, someone needs to tell the industry to calm the hell down with all the March kickstarters. Someone is going to lose out big style, theres only so much money and so many backers to spread around.

Interested in two of these armies - would have preferred them being split so I could spread the cost and maybe at least possibly perhaps start on some painting before the second lot arrives

One of the other reasons is I already have way too much stuff, and way too much unpainted stuff... I was hoping the releases were going to be quite spread out, and the ks's were going to be much later in the year

I didn't really follow their previous KS, whats the status on that?
I skimmed the LOLHEWGE thread but I gathered that some people have got their stuff, others haven't?
Was it par for the KS course? ie ambitious but late as hell?

The people that have got their stuff: whats the quality like?

Been waiting for this so I could finally get a Kings of War Twilight Kin army going, if the models are suitable. What's the word on materials?

Six armies does seem like they might be stretching it a little bit.

But I'm a fool, so I'll go in for a few minis, and then no doubt add a wad to the PM.

The current status is that they're still working on it. Almost all of the heroes are now done, alongside the regular troops. Stuff that they're still working on are some heroes, mecha, artillery teams and specialist squads like the werewolves and servitors.

The first one is super-duper late as hell.

I got my minis, I chose metal. The quality is good and what you'd expect from them if you've bought from them before.

Personally, after the long wait and having other companies step up to scratch the project itches I had, they're just fine to me.

If it's like the previous one heroes will be metal / resin (your choice) and troops will be.. resin? Restic? Whatever fancy term people use for that material?

I'll be in for the Sisters Army. It will help to bolster my Metal SoB army.

I have some of their resin stuff that is on General release and happy with the quality. Plus the ones I have so far will make a good command squad for my Imperial Guard plus an Assassin.

The view I take with kickstarter projects is to never look at the finish date and just be surprised when the stuff starts turning up.

Or if you didn't pledge they open it up to everyone else for about half a year aswell still through paypal .

And the 80% is most definately made up, but not by anyone on this board.

Even though I still haven't seen a single piece of resin from the previous one, I might pledge for a priest or so for the other models. On the other hand, they might postpone delivering the other models till the new campaign is finished

I admit I'm terribly interested in the fantasy Dark Elves. I have been ever since I read R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt novels in my youth.

That said, I still haven't got my stuff from their first Kickstarter - I was one of those who took the 'send it all at once' option.

I'll probably pick up at least a squad or two. There's far too many other interesting Kickstarters to blow my entire budget on this one.

Hmm. I'm not interested in restic in the sort of numbers I'd be looking at to make an average sized Kings of War army. It's over a hundred minis, possibly approaching 200.

Still, I'll keep an eye.

I saw the resin versions and they were awesome. when restic is mentioned, I think early Mantic awfulness, but these are really really good.

Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured

They use some sort of spin cast-able resin (no, not finecast) which is very defiantly not restic (PVC) as used by PP/Sedition Wars/Early Mantic/Relic Knights KS etc)

it's holds the detail better (pretty much identical to the metal) and is easier to clean up,

(I also suspect it will have the same vulnerability to dropping as FW resin, but have not tried it)

I got a fair amount of metal last time round, but this time I suspect I will go mainly for the spin-cast resin

The 80% is sort of a running joke, originated by RH original claims of how well the project is going. It went more like a software project - 80% of work took 20% of time, but the remaining 20%.. yeah.

Post by: Sarouan

Hm, I notice what Raging Heroes said on the TGG Kickstarter. Seems like they need to do this to "ensure their future".

Guess I can translate that by "we need money, quickly".

Though I'm glad with what I received for the TGG, I'm waiting for this Kickstarter to launch so that I can see where they actually are with this "new project". For now, we only have art concepts - but what I want are models, not drawings that may change in the future.

I have no doubt about the quality. Their resin is a very good material and details are really nice. But I will watch closely what they will show and write for this Kickstarter, for sure. Especially about dates.

I am tempted by the sisters but not totally. I will need to see what exactly they will look like before deciding to pledge for them or not.

About Dark Elves, since Warhammer Battle is dead for good, I don't need an army of those anymore. Maybe a few models just for the pleasure of collecting them or using in a skirmish fantasy game. But yeah, I'm expecting some very classic "we're dark elves chicks, so we obviously are nearly naked while loving whips and leather in a dominatrix style".

I know I should NOT back them up because of the madness that the TGG was and still is (glad I managed to hold myself) but this one, yeah, no way I am not risking it for some of those sisters. I WANT those sisters.

Normally I'd be mad that someone is launching a Kickstarter before I've even received the items from the first, but this is Raging Heroes, so the Kickstarter will probably be delayed 6 weeks...

I was wondering what was the sweet spot for the last KS and how much was shipping to the EU?
I am tempted to pledge no matter delays etc since quality seems great and they are doing great job transferring art to the physical form.

Come for the KS, stay for the BrookM

Debating on throwing in, but given it will probably be two years before all of the first KS is done, not sure I want to. Especially since the one fig that caught my eye in the first KS hasn't come out yet.

Don't see history repeating itself given past experience and that half the armies in there are meant for a game that people are seeing as dead now.

The sweet spot last time was $165 and got you the freebies. Shipping for EU started at $20 for a single wave. Though if you went that way, you'd still be waiting. Wave shipping was available for an extra $20 per wave.

It'll likely be the same next time, with early birds as well.

Seems it would have been better to just do the Sisters. People have been crying out for new models for them for years, and just doing one army would keep the KS to a manageable size.

Huh 165$ plus 20$ for shipping is also out of my budget right now. Stupid car registration why do we have to do it every year (maybe if I travel less across borders they wont catch me ).
I have no problems with single shipping and prolonged waiting (I like to be surprised when something I didnt expect arrives, we all ordered from China didnt we ).
Well we ll see this time, I could afford some 60-70$ for this and just pick something for INQ28, those things never get old.

I don't know, chances are the lowest pledge total will once again be a $15 single mini pledge that you can later add models onto or expand into another pledge level.

I'll probably grab a few SOB heroines.... I'm still waiting for my TGG1 minis, and since that time, I've lost my primary income. Even then, for the long wait last time, I'm just not willing to do another high income pledge with RH.

Just go with the single mini pledge then for the time being. You can always top up at a later point when you feel confident (or in my case, crazy) enough to get some more minis.

Raging Heroes does not deserve your preorder money, not when they're a year behind schedule and counting on their previous Kickstarter.

I'm not a fan of the concepts, either. Way too much greeble on them - the only smooth surfaces on the entire Knight of the Chalice are on the sides of her hammer.

Their last campaign got so much gak, and I would have liked my models on time, but so much of it was people jusy being donkey caves. It was a KS project, have any model ones been on time?
They do great minis and they are clearly trying their best to keep everyone happy, hell yes im putting in for some dark elves and paladin ladies.

Hell yeah!

Of course, scale issues and past performance means I'll probably only (!) pledge for this miniature - or a unit of them, if they exist.

I'll figure out what to use them in later!

You're right. It certainly had nothing to do with Raging Heroes putting forth an inconsistent message that, at times, bordered on condescension and outright lying.

It was all on "people being donkey-caves."

Oi vey.

They most likely deliver, but it certainly won't be on time, and they'll probably be uppity in their interactions with their funders.

Their previous KS isn't remotely close to being completely delivered.

Yeah, technically it's even worse. You're just throwing money at the company in the hope of them making a product, lol. At least with a Preorder you're just giving them an advanced cash infusion on a product that already exists. With this KS, you're just paying for the rights to look at some pretty pictures, and then maybe one day get a model that looks kinda like it.

That's what they are striving for. The latter that is, wanting to give us the best they can give.

I do hope that this time round they will set hard goals and stick to them, sometimes artists need good creative control. Just look at how KD:M has dragged along for so long.

There's nothing entitled about expecting companies to realise that the "delivered by" has to, you know, MEAN something and that KS don't ask you to just put a random date in there that may or may not have anything to do with what you're actually doing. Or to expect companies that exceed that date to talk honestly to their backers about what's happening, rather than waste time with cutesy hashtags. KS may not be a pre-order, that doesn't mean creators are free from obligations if they want people to come back for the next one.

Kickstarter is not a pre-order, but as far as I'm aware, the creator is obliged to at least provide the pledge rewards that he promised. It could be that RH never puts TGG up for regular sale and never pursues this business again, but legally they are obliged to give the rewards or money back.

I can't go as heavy as I did with the TGG kickstarter, but I will be on board.. looking to see what bonuses we get etc before I finalize any pledges.. but much like Brook, Guard always need some holy custodians to walk among them.

Also will have one eye on the Dark Eldar.. and the sisters.. if there are some models of note.. the long planned (awaiting plastic sisters) goal of me and Aura having these opposing forces may come to pass.

From the Kickstarter FAQ:

Who is responsible for completing a Kickstarter project as promised?

It's the project creator's responsibility to complete their project. Kickstarter is not involved in the development of the projects themselves.

Kickstarter does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator's ability to complete their project. On Kickstarter, backers (you!) ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it.

Can Kickstarter refund the money if a project is unable to fulfill?

No. Kickstarter doesn't issue refunds as transactions are between backers and creators directly. Creators receive all funds (less fees) soon after their campaign ends.

For projects that launched before October 19, 2014, please see our previous Terms of Use.

What is a creator obligated to do once their project is funded?

When a project is successfully funded, the creator is responsible for completing the project and fulfilling each reward. Their fundamental obligation to backers is to finish all the work that was promised. Once a creator has done so, they’ve fulfilled their obligation to their backers. At the same time, backers must understand that Kickstarter is not a store. When you back a project, you’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised. If a creator is absolutely unable to complete the project and fulfill rewards, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to a satisfying conclusion for their backers. For more information, see Section 4 of our Terms of Use.

When a project is successfully funded, the creator must complete the project and fulfill each reward. Once a creator has done so, they’ve satisfied their obligation to their backers.

Throughout the process, creators owe their backers a high standard of effort, honest communication, and a dedication to bringing the project to life. At the same time, backers must understand that when they back a project, they’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There may be changes or delays, and there’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised.

If a creator is unable to complete their project and fulfill rewards, they’ve failed to live up to the basic obligations of this agreement. To right this, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to the best possible conclusion for backers. A creator in this position has only remedied the situation and met their obligations to backers if:
•they post an update that explains what work has been done, how funds were used, and what prevents them from finishing the project as planned;
•they work diligently and in good faith to bring the project to the best possible conclusion in a timeframe that’s communicated to backers;
•they’re able to demonstrate that they’ve used funds appropriately and made every reasonable effort to complete the project as promised;
•they’ve been honest, and have made no material misrepresentations in their communication to backers; and
•they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form.

The creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers.

It is quite possible that a company can fund and never full fill their requirements. You can take legal action against them, but that's no guarantee you will get your money back. Certainly it is in their interest to full fill their promises if they want to stay in business in their current field, but projects have failed without giving anything back. Here is an article on the subject in regards to video games: http://gamerant.com/kickstarter-video-game-failure-rate/

I'm actually kinda the opposite here, I understand the difficulties of being a new company. What I don't want to happen is a Mantic thing where they just seek KS after KS to generate new Editions.

They have my loyalty for now. but its a wary one.

I don't see Mantic in that way, and I've certainly been a critic of many aspects of their KS policy.

Spoiler:

I think KoW is a great game, for example, but putting out some rules and list fixes is a good thing - though we all know that the rules are a supplement and lubricant to the toy soldiers that they fund. Likewise, DZ2 having new/updated/revised rules is really more of a side effect of their attempts to gain more funding for hard plastic for DeadZone/Warpath. It's all about funding their new figures with the rules updates being much more of a byproduct of that.

It is kinda annoying that I've only had the last of the DZ1 stuff for a very short time and they're already asking for money for DZ2, though. At least KoW had a good amount of time between drinks.

Good points.

Perhaps it's me then but I did feel when they tried to redo chess it was a little too far for my tastes.

But I'm not overly fond of their figures. I had some complimentary stuff but I felt they were very sub par especially as they are trying to go up against GW.

Now that fantasy has rumoured to be cut back to oblivion I'm tempted to look at their fantasy rules again. Mantic could, could do well if they can get their figures up to a better quality. But this isn't the topic.

I'll definitely be getting the "Bayonetta" figure and hopefully some of the other dark elves and nuns. If they did wood elves and Dwarves I wouldn't look anywhere else. ( raging heroes )

Looking at the quality of the TTG sculpts there is no doubt a lot of this concept flows through to the minis; however, I mentioned in the other TTG thread, and will raise it again here, where the quality of the mini (re translation from the concept) suffers in my mind is at the detailing around the fine cloth on the minis. The minis I have seen posted all have quite thick cloth (from the body connection out to the edge of the cloth) where that cloth is blowing/flowing around the figure - they haven't seemed to be able to keep the mini version of the cloth thin enough to suggest it is really blowing. It is particularly noticeable where the cloth comes to an edge - it has never seemed to come to a nice sharp thin edge, but rather a thicker, rounded edge. Not sure if that's an artifact of their sculpting/casting process.

It worries me when I look at Dakriss's dragon wings, veil and dress skirts; Kraash's loincloth and chains; and the Davidians prayer scrolls/papers. If they come out at render/product stage thick and rounded, it would upset the overall aesthetic IMHO - being a lump of rounded resin/metal, rather than a finely sculpted piece of kit.

I hope they're onto the renders by now. Concept sketches are good, and RH have a history of doing very faithful conversions of concept art, but I want to see more than just concept art for this.

I remember seeing a lot of these concepts at the time of the original tgg kickstarter so I would surmise they should have a few renders and/or test prints

Adding in more renders or dare I say, some test prints, would greatly help with getting to those potential pledgers who are a sceptic or reluctant right now.

Also, updated OP with pics and that one gif.

I'm thinking they'll open with that, not just preview tease their former backers with it. Save it all up for a big punch right at the start of the campaign to get people wowed and really excited.

Well money is definitely NOT the problem for them. They were not producing in plastic. The costs associated with what they are doing is NOT more than it would be for any traditional metal or resin company. They made enough money on their first campaign to fund the development and production of whatever they wanted to produce for the next 4 years.

This is a marketing KS.

But as I understand they have the money for the first. It was just locked via PayPal due to inactivity.

And as far as I see they have most of the stock for their former KS. Maybe I'm wrong.

Just as a warning, so it's been said explicitly: this KS will almost certainly deliver late. Some minis will change from concept to final product, quite possibly even after the KS closes. That being said, all the minis I have received from RH are amazing. So if it's worth that to you, knock yourself out.

Personally, I'm not going to get involved unless the sci-fi elves get way more cyberpunk or digipunk and way less demony.

I think it's more than likely that their caster may well be supplying them stuff in batches rather than finishing every single example of mini A before moving onto mini B

this will allow the client to fulfil more customers sooner (as most have backed for more than a single mini),

will allow QC checking to proceed more easily which is especially important with non-recyclable spin cast resin (higher than expected failure increase production for batch 2 etc, lower than expected reduce it)

and allow for fewer moulds if their caster has more than a single machine (different employees can spin different minis at the same time without having to make extra moulds)

and allow for mould replacements (if needed, not sure if the spincast resin mould will last as well as the ones for the metals)

What was said above Tre. Put down the sour grapes ay?

As for the KS, I'll back if theres a metal option. Given the low number of minis they seem to want to do per faction, this should work out quite nicely. If theres resin thought Ill leave it. The details shallower, bubbles where there should be, and I've had too many figures affected by mold shift to be buying any more resins.

What are the chances GW in some way impede Raging Heroes' Sisters? The original TGG kickstarter was for all female scifi troopers which doesn't exactly match up with Imperial Guard / Astra Militarum as that's all male. But are scifi space Sisters close enough for GW to chance action?

Erm, I suppose, if you count having to throw out more than half your claims, then having less than a quarter of the remainder decided in your favour and only avoiding most of those being overturned on appeal by freezing Chapterhouse's assets to force them to leave it at that or go out of business "winning". Even if you do, considering how many millions of pounds it cost them the victory was pyrrhic.

EDIT: And it occurs to me only now this might be one of those occasions when deadpan humour is sailing gracefully over my head like a rich heiress on the family yacht.

There's three or four heralds saying that their communities liked it the way they were doing. Obviously dakka (and I) disagree). Their stated goals will be near daily updates during the campaign and a minimum of one update a month during fulfillment.

Regarding the wording in the backer update for TGG1 that has a lot of people worried about financial status:
Herald Mode: They're hopefully going to do another backer update just to clarify, but RH is saying in an official channel to us, the remaining Heralds who haven't suffered a stroke yet, that the phrasing in the last email was a poorly done/clumsy translation and does not accurately reflect the status of the company.

Personal Opinion: I believe the intent was more along the lines of this KS being the launch pad that will bring them into a more serious realm to have a legit gaming system to go with their minis, and really have a fully fleshed out range, then implying dire straits for the company. So critical in a positive sense, not a negative one. That is 100% speculation on my part however.

No gak - when the Dark Eldar came out, not buying Dark Eldar meant not buying the game. They were in the 3rd Edition starter box. They have never been supported as poorly as the Sisters have - right from day 1, they had multiple plastic kits.

You don't understand. They sold really well on their own too. But GW also knew people wanted Dark Eldar because Chaos Eldar armies had been pretty prevalent at Games Day/Golden Daemon, etc.

Regardless, people believe this myth that the Dark Eldar and the Sisters are comparable product lines, but they aren't. The Sisters acually have an identical product history to the Necrons. Debuted in White Dwarf, minimal product line limited to 4 basic units, and all in metal. This was not a liability, because at the time, all armies were metal with the exception of a handful of low-detail troop units. And yet the Necrons became a real, full army with plastic units, and the Sisters did not. It would be foolish to assume that choice was abritrary and not based on their sales performance.

The Dark Eldar came back because GW knew people wanted them. GW made more Necrons because they knew people wanted them. GW gave people more Sisters in 2003, and nobody wanted them.

Ahhh, thanks for sharing the clarification.

I can confirm that French forums (as in, those in France, nothing my side of the Atlantic) were over the moon extatic about Raging Heroes. They were the best thing since sliced bread/the second coming of Christ/Johnny Halliday all rolled into one.

At the same time, there was some serious hate towards English forums such as Dakka and TMP. We were just mean trolls out to tarnish their reputation and some such.

After having seen a guy's army on Devianart, I gotta say I am less than impressed by the overall look of the minis. The jailbirds troops have some serious hip-ratio problems, and those that have their legs akimbo are the worse offenders. Plus they must be really, really tall. The guy had them stuck in the bases at weird angles, so I won't blame RH for that, but the many, many leg sets that are "running" (sauntering might be a better term) mostly end up looking wonky. Maybe none of them* are runners, but they give "running like a girl" a whole new level of insulting.

*the RH people.

The only one I'm seeing a huge hip issue is the Admiral Olga, not entirely sure what is going on there. I do agree that the angle shots though does make them look a bit off. It isn't really the way they were on the bases as opposed to the angle the camera is to the pictures, they aren't from the front but shot at an angle from upper view. The paint job, although ok, doesn't help much though. I'll have to look at mine and compare them but I didn't see any huge issues initially but I mostly just have Kurganova Shock Troops and Iron Empire troopers

I am not seeing the issue. In fact quite the opposite, looking at the dark eldar in that same link makes the GW minis look squat and awkward.

I agree with Dark and Swabby, it looks like the super akimbo legs are more of a modeler issue as opposed to a model issue... I am really glad I mostly skipped the jailbirds though. Maybe it's the paint job but I'm just not feeling it.

Maybe they'll look better when they are glued at a reasonable angle to the base. And in credible running positions. Geez.

I doubt it, but I want to remain open-minded. I still think some of them have hips that are too wide compared to the rest of the ribcage and shoulders.

I feel the same way. I want to like the Sisters pics, but there's a little too much cheesecake, proportions are a little too weird, and half of them have these weird gigantic angular power boots that don't really fit aesthetically with anything else going on. That's what's killing me the most about the knight and the repentia at least. It's like they thought "these are basically Fantasy units, what can we do to make them more sci fi? POWER BOOTS!"

I do like Sister Reyallia.

From the latest TGG KS update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loudnraging/raging-heroes-the-toughest-girls-of-the-galaxy/posts/1171666

Why only 15 days for the TGG2 KS?

As most Kickstarter are run over a period of one month or more, it has been assumed to be some sort of norm. But when we began planning TGG2, and look at exactly how the TGG1 campaign has run, we saw some opportunities to try new things...

A few days before we launched TGG1, we had a Skype conversation with David Doust, CoolMiniorNot's boss, who said: “Your first Kickstarter is an experience you'll remember all your life”. What he meant by that is that running a Ks is extremely demanding, way beyond what anyone can imagine. Keeping the campaign shorter and trimming all the fat will help us make it a more exciting experience for you as well as keeping the whole Raging Team energized!

Some people are worried that this will result in less funds and less backers. While this might seem logical at first glance, the numbers show that this is not quite the case. The 15 days in the middle of our TGG KS campaign only constituted about 10% of the total. We believe that the excitement of a shorter campaign will make up for it, and will be more fun for everyone! Because, after all, it ain't all about the money!

Also..

The "TGG2: Darkness and Light" Kickstarter

We've seen on some forums that a few people were concerned about what we wrote in our last Update regarding the fact that we wanted to launch our new Kickstarter now. For example: “You've got money troubles and we'll never see any minis / you're going to grab the money from the new Ks and close down!”.

Well. It looks like our wording in our last Update was clumsier than usual

When we wrote “We need to launch this new Kickstarter now”, it's NOT because we have run out or are presently running out of money! It's because we have a full team of artists who've been working on TGG2 for a while now, and whom we want to retain: good artists are hard to find, and we've got to keep them working on new stuff.

Money-wise, Raging Heroes has never been in a better shape. As you will have noticed, in the previous update, we are expanding and recruiting new members for the team because the demand for the TGG at retail level is constantly growing! Releasing the TGG every month throughout 2015 is way enough to keep the company running healthily, and meeting any unexpected expenses if need be.

Some people have also said that we were going to be using the funds from TGG2 to pay our suppliers and complete TGG1. This is completely FALSE. Funds for our TGG1 suppliers have long been set aside and allocated for all our suppliers, so we are in good financial shape here too.

In fact, what is happening is exactly the opposite. The TGG1 funds have contributed to TGG2: the totality of the design work, + a big chunk of the preparation, sculpting work for a first wave of TGG2.

We are now at a stage where every action we take on one project also supports another one: when, with your backing, we created the TGG KS, we developed a big catalogue of new products. When we started selling a few products at retail last December, it allowed us to secure some extra funds to make it possible to have a bonus shipment wave for the Freebies that is happening right now at no extra charge for you!

So, in a way, the retail customers have gifted you an extra shipping wave. And in the same way, the money for TGG1 allowed us to prepare a bigger Kickstarter for TGG2. And whatever its outcome, the mass of work that has been generated through this is making the company stronger. This will also continue to flow back to you as it will allow us to develop more cool stuff like follow-ups to the JB, IE and KST, as well as games and more.

I guess one could call it a virtuous circle, as every new project reinforces the previous one. And this is also exactly what Kickstarter is about: helping creators get a kickstart on their projects

Well good for them being honest for once.

Although eventually, they are going to have to let someone go, they can't go from KS to KS just to satisfy their artists, although I this point I understand the need to keep them.

Although, if they could offer them a game design seminar, they could re-orient them...

I have a bad feeling that the fantasy and sci-fi armies are going to share a lot of sculpts, with minor tweaks to differentiate them. That repentia lookalike in particular looks like a fantasy mini with power armor boots and weapons added.

I was actually referring to the type of demon. An Incubus is the male equivalent of a Succubus. In other words, it's a male demon that seduces women whereas the Succubus is a female demon that seduces men. So, no, you can't have a female Incubus, nor a male Succubus.

Granted. But these are "not Dark Eldar," rather than demons. And within that context, an Incubus is a follower of the fallen Phoenix Lord Arhra (and one of the few "lawful" evil aspects among DE society) while a Succubus is one of the tripartite leaders of a Wych Cult.

And in that context, you could (rarely) have male succubi up until the 7th Ed codex, and have always been able to have female Incubi. In theory. There hasn't actually been any female models. Unless the current Incubi are women, just ones without boob armor.

Either way, it's a damn fine looking model! It looks like it would fit in perfectly with an existing Incubi squad.

I'd say her job-description would still be be a succubus, albeit one "playing for the other team".

I admit being rather interested in that incubi-style (as in the Dark Eldar elit unit) mini but I probably wait for retail rather than back this. I don't have the spare money to keep frozen for years.

Does anyone know if that Necro-priestess from the previous KS is on the way anytime soon? Lovet the concept art for that one.

Because Barzam specified "seduces males" and "seduces females", I was a little curious if this definition relied on the gender that the demon goes for, or the gender of the demon, or if was just a superfluous detail that overlooked homosexuality. Still, that is very obviously intended to be a Dark Eldar Incubi, and that is a very specific thing. It's the same idea as the name "Centurion"; the big Space Marine suits have absolutely nothing to do with Roman Legionaries (except in aesthetic, sometimes) but it's still their name.

You think any of these girls would work for Bloodbowl?

Yep, as someone who's done marketing and sales professionally this was exactly what I would have done. For the 1st Wave/2nd Wave only backers it closes their order in the final sense. So that means no more tracking them, they're off the books, over and done. It then mollifies us poor bastards in Wave 3, because we have something in hand now. We're not waiting for a pile of toy soldiers that just never seem to come, we have part of our order in hand, and with any luck by the time we start receiving them and in my case and I'm sure the case of several others, assembling and putting paint to metal/resin, they'll be starting to ship Wave 3 orders in even more volume.

With a little conversion work? Easily. You just need hands without weapons.

Sadly, I checked the rules and no, their specialist Terminator squads do not have access to a hammer and shield combo, they just have axes and volkite weaponry.

I'm guessing it was a reference to their special rule 'the rewards of treason'. It basically allows you to take any of the fancy legion specific units from any other legion, with the legiones astartes (alpha legion) instead of the legion the unit comes from, as an elites choice. Basically if someone else is taking it and it isn't a character or a unique choice then the alphas can use it too, that includes the previously mentioned imperial fist and salamanders termies. It's also yet another reason 30k alpha legion are forged from pure awesome.

I am very appreciative of the fact that you apologised. A lot of people just get angry when called out on things, and that makes me sad.

Anyway, I am absolutely getting a whole unit of those not-Incubi to use as Incubi. I don't even play Dark Eldar, but it's worth it. Unbound is wonderful for things like this.

Moving on.

I don't think that anyone can accuse me of being an apologist for RH (see signature), but I'm going to come out and say it: I'm leaning towards backing this thing. We're not in the same age of Kickstarter and crowdfunding that we were in when they ran the campaign, I'd say for better and worse, but... let's be honest, it's been mostly for the worse.

Right now I think the biggest issue for funding anything like these programs is a) can they deliver, and b) does it make sense to buy so far ahead of time?

RH may be infuriating, they may never take feedback, they may capriciously change models after you've paid for them, they may be rude, condescending and in many ways act like a real life cartoon of how the rest of the world perceives the French/artistes, but... but. They actually have delivered (if you paid a load for shipping, that is), and once they meandered their way to finalizing their designs they do have pride in their product.

The thing I think people most need to be aware of is that RH is not going to change things for you on the design front. So if you see something in the campaign that you like, go for it. If you see something that you (and maybe a lot of people) think is a little "off"... yeah, don't pledge for that and think it's going to get fixed later.

but, but, they did change their minds from audience feedback

(we avoided the original plan of the troops being scaled differently then the heroines)

so not only back but argue your case if you want changes as they might (just) end up changing it

(and yes I shall be backing again, as they do produce great minis)

With no basis save for the sheer amount of miniatures this is supposed to produce, I'm fairly certain something will catch your eye, BrookM. Heck, it might catch both of them and then you're really in trouble.

I didn't back the first TGG campaign because I decided to save my money for this one. The complaints have been a bit hard to miss even with only reading the original thread from time to time. However, I don't see them sticking to their design on the models as a bad thing per se; disagreesing with feedback versus ignoring it all together.

Wonder how the pledges are going to be structured. The last campaign was confusing on that point up until I stopped considering pledging (and following that aspect of it).

Well most of it is connected to the "original" base for a lot of these things, particularly the Not-Repentia, so it's going to depend on how they "justify" them fluff wise imho. RH ranges from full cheesecake to decently armored scifi ladies to the new heavy armored girls, it's just how they roll. A lot of their minis are the type of thing I personally have been banging my mug on the table asking for, because I want scifi female infantry that don't look like strippers. They delivered on the KST for that, and it's looking like the new Sisters will provide a lot of what I want as well.

My biggest problem with RH is simply that they cant seem to be consistent on scale. Some figures are heroic, some are realistic, and some are in between. Some have hands or pistols as big as their heads while others look like proportional figures. I wish they would stay away from the heroic scale or at least try to be consistent. So far the Incubi looks proportional while the power legs sister has a face as big as her entire abdomen. I hope these are WIPs.

While that may be possible (I didn't pay a lot of attention to the KST), I'm not sure if you're confusing it with the IE heavies, where they responded to my feedback about shoulders and breastplate with...uh, I believe their reasoning was "the IE heavies fight like American Football players, ramming things with their shoulders." Certainly a novel idea, I suppose.

How does the saying from 40k go? "Hope is the first step on the road to failure"?

Expect the worst and you'll not be disappointed. Not even by the French. Well, maybe a little...

Hm, I was seriously excited about this, and was originally going to get all the Elves armies, but after seeing the video renders ..... I'm back on the fence.

I reckon I'll likely get the Lust Elves, at least that single video shot makes me think they might work as Cephalyx female drudge slaves.

Not really sure now. At least I've got another 4 days to think about it.

Have people not read the back story for the Special Edition Standard Bearer where two Elf twin sisters and princesses are enslaved by the darkly sexy Evil lady and............ get to like it...... Its a cool model.

As others have Said RH does a lot of cheesecake stuff and some people like - male and female and others don't - but they are not really pretending otherwise..................

I will be watching this KS with great interest but will be waiting for retail to purchase quite a few - I am in no hurry and still nothing yet from first - apparently freebies on the way.

IMHO: that is *exactly* how it should be.

As when painting small minis (and stressing highlights and contrasts), sculpted proportions *should* be exaggerated in order to make the minis look good from some distance. not to mention ease of painting.

Bigger muscles, need for special boob armour, longer legs, larger heads, weapons and hands, absurd facial expressions, big bores, etc. are all part of a long tradition of hand sculpting that might be ruined because of CAD renders that is being judged as close ups by an audience not grasping the need for scale tweaks.

Thats why a 54 mm mini will have its head, hands and weapon only a little bit bigger than a 28 mm one, despite the rest being twice as big.

Watch an Aragorm Marks sculpting course or similar and you will understand.

Sometimes watching how kickstarters are run is almost as much fun as getting stuff from them.

I this is mostly done to draw as many people in as possible. It is a good deal, just a shame it's for armies I have no interest in whatsoever.

It will be interesting to see it all kick off tomorrow though.

Actually I just got my "freebies".

Casting is quite nice, but there ARE bubbles and some slight steps here and there. Only assembled Nertha, the Faceless Mother. Right leg was bent and did not align perfectly. A piece of cloth from her left shoulder broke off.
Her "crown" has some tiny miscast as well, destroying the upmost top part of it.

Building was okay, bus my glue does not seem to like the resin (or the other way around) I'm used to get the parts stuck a lot quicker.

Nevertheless, it's nice to FINALLY have something in my hands.

On the 15 free freebies.

Some of the freebies I just got are TIIIIIIINNNNNYYYYY (the mascots) and honestly, are no way near worth 15$...

Looking forward to tomorrow

I stored my first wave models away so i cannot go and check model quality, but i do remember i was quite pleased with them.

I do not remember any form of miscast or breakage, there was some "bending", but nothing a bit of steam could not correct easily.

Did not try assembling them yet. And would like to see the "squad boxes" before i make any final judgment on Quality.

I usually sign up early and decide towards the end whether to drop or not. I'll do the same here.

Lol, 10? That's the freebies.
You need Lieutenant level to get the 1 free mini from backing TGG1. Lieutenant level = 50 minis or something lol ($150+).

So more like a buy 100 more get 1 free coupon, you were being much too optimistic !
I could tell from your post !

So, the previous backer bonus isn't quite as underwhelming as some extra beer mats. How it pans out does depend on what's actually on offer though.

That and the freebies means you're getting $360 worth of figures for the $150/$165 LT pledge.

As for the freebies themselves, $200 for 15 figures will only break down so many ways. Especially if we're only looking at $10/$15 figures for the freebies. That gives us 10 $15 and 5 $10, so not quite enough for a mascot for all 6 factions.

I need to see what's on offere for the different factions,

but if I do hit a Lieutenant box spending level I won't say no to an extra mini

It's more than most KS companies give you for being a regular backer.....

Yup, a free mini for returning backers sounds really quite generous to me; don't see how you could be expecting more than that.

I guess I'm just crazy for thinking that, given all that...happened...during the last campaign, a $150+ buy in here is necessary to get your 'thanks'.

Still, whatever, right?

This one will live or die based on how well the miniatures look, and how much new blood can be brought in.

However wasn't that the whole point of their Freebie shipment with 14 miniatures that was sent out recently?

I'm hoping they have some good actual cast minis on this. Not sure I'll pledge if it's just renders...

Aaaah, I see, I had missed that $150+ was needed for the freebie; I can understand your grumblings better now. IIRC, the AntiMatter Games campaigns have had around $50-75 needed to get a "returning customer bonus", which is kind of a nice incentive to come back for more. Granted, I bet if they gave away too much to their old backers, it would only serve to alienate newcomers, so some kind of balance is needed there.

Miiiiiiind, $150 was the early bird level, $165 is the proper price for the pledge level.

I'm a little disappointed that they haven't been releasing more renders or art to try and build up interest in this project.

Yes, it's a bit puzzling, especially as this campaign is going to be so cluttered.

Mantic has already shown that simply adding gubbins to fantasy figures doesn't turn a medieval warrior into a space marine (unless they are skulls and... more skulls, of course).

Isn't not releasing stuff their "thing"? It'd be weird if they started now, almost as if they'd learned their lessons and made changes for the better....

I thought the point of that was fooling confirmed suckers into thinking it was safe to drop more money on another Raging Heroes campaign?

Normally I'd agree, but didn't the pre-KS Kurganova and Blood Vestal figures sell pretty well? Without some figs that looked like they belonged in a DE army I wasn't going to back, but that wrack and that incubus swayed me.

Yep. RH has always done well for a boutique firm, the KS just let them go bigger, faster.

Isn't anyone putting money into the second campaign a confirmed sucker? Or is that title only unlocked once the charge goes through?

I certainly feel as though dumping money into this constitutes an unwise investment.

Remember, not everyone feels about them the way Dakka does. we are almost notorious for out lunatic raving about this company. BOLS and European forums don't even come close to how we feel and lots of people still love them So in RH opinion...they have done nothing wrong. And in that mindset, the "thanks" miniature actually makes perfect sense
