Rule Number Two is Stay On Topic.

This thread is for discussing new AoS releases; not for discussing AoS or GW generally.

Really looking forward to the new Warhammer Quest. I was planning to invest in Massive Darkness, but not now.. Really glad it's making a comeback and I hope it's here to stay.

With the talk of Aelf and Ogur or however you spell it heroes, I'm wondering if we might see some extra characters available at release or really close to it.

4 heroes seems about standard for these types of games, but hey, why not give your raving fan base more options to spend money on?

Has there been any discussion about this from GW itself on Facebook yet? Any more tidbits?

Hopefully they'll have some expanded rules like in the original WQ. Or at the very least, release some expansion to introduce new races and heroes. A one and done deal with limited gameplay would be very dissapointing.

Maybe to you, but that's all some people want. Furthermore, I see no reason to doubt this will receive additional support via WD when both of their other game sets have received it. There WILL be white dwarf support coming for the new Warhammer Quest. Add me to the rumor tracker if you want.

I dont know if you played the old wq, but the expansions were a bit more elaborated than the white dwarf support these other games got. Hell even the main box included the rules for pretty much all the minis in the warhammer world

Too much to dream that it would be compatible with OG Quest.

I'd have to see them. None of the boards from GW's recent efforts have impressed me (the Deathwatch ones are large enough and there are enough of them that they can work). If these aren't up to the standard of the original Quest tiles, then I can't see them being much good, especially if there aren't many of them. Quest came with a lot of tiles.

A Dwyvyrn Fyre Slyryr, a Fantasy Space Marine, a Sigmarite Priest, a Barbarian and hopefully a few more minis as well.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh

Sigmar priest, Barbarian* and big thing look amazing. Birdmen look really, really, REALLY amazing. Don't screw this up GW. I skipped a lot of other stuff and KSs to be able to throw money at the screen.

(horrors having the same design is expected but kinda lame and I hope there aren't that many in the box, use that space for otherwise unavailable stuff)

*though I now think a pitfighter would be more Warhammer I think they would've gone full classic on one with spiked gauntlet and morning star, so that's a barb

Fire slayer in the background on the right fighting and big horn face chap.

Needs elves/wizards by the looks of it?

The little guy that you can see in the background between the barbarian and the stormcast looks a bit like the Dark Elf executioner/black guard models. I wonder if it's an elf or a cool looking cultist. The art looks great though, I'm quite excited for this game! I love the classical influence in that Warrior Priest.

Interest piqued, and whoa it is Warhammer Quest indeed. I don't think this will turn out to be a WHQ 'starter set' with stats for every model in the AoS range. These are the first footsteps into the fantasy dungeon crawler genre after a long while for GW. If it sells well there could be more similiar products.

From what has been rumored from the reliable sources, this is a specific scenario, exploring the changing rooms of a Tzeentch Silver tower with enemies you would encounter in such an enviroment.

Better give it time, and do not expect everything immediately. I see this as an expansion/scenario pack continuing the WHQ range after a (very) long pause of production. Specific scenarios (focussing on ogres, undead, greenskins) getting fleshed out in detail is what the original games HQ, Advanced HQ and WHQ did. I like it as it allows for a lot more detailed miniatures, tiles and quests than another generic crawler would. Even if GW will not release rules for every model in the range, it will not take long for players to do this colllectively online. But producing quality Tzeentch miniatures and tiles is not something people can do on their own that easily.

Good catch on that background character.

It kind of looks like he has a crescent on his helm so it might be another cultist. Could be wrong though.

[Edit]: I hear alot of people talking about making the rest of the AoS models compatible with the game. How big a change would they actual need? Doesn't their warscrolls already make every model good at things like this? (Never played Heroquest before)

It would depend on how the rules worked, but it is not inconceivable that they might include some generic profiles to use for other models - "tough fighter", "wizard", "assassin". I would speculate on semi-regular expansions to the box, around £20-£30, with a pair of heroes and a handful of bad guys, but that would be very out of character for how GW has handled these boxed games thus far.

I was close to buying a Gaunt Summoner recently, but it looks like one will be included in the box set so I'm glad that I waited!

I'm quite excited about this one. I'm sure that the minis will be great, but who knows about the tiles and rules?

The tiles are the most important thing for me when creating atmosphere, I was never a fan of the style of the Warhammer Quest tiles so I hope that these are "darker" in theme.

Hopefully there will be rules for solo play if my friends don't want to game

The tiny guy looks a lot like a Dark Eldar jetbiker or Harlequin to me with the featureless mask.

I'd be down with buying several big expansions with a hero or two, some big bads and many mooks. A clan Moulder breeding pit being cleared out. A city full of shambling corpsesand a witch coven. Raiding an Orkish pirate fleet. Escaping a tomb full of gold ornamented undea...oh, sorry, Tomb Kings all got blown up, nothing to see here. Price them in line with CMON etc expansions (so 65 or 75 € in typical GW fashion) and provide 20-30 minis. I'd be buying so hard.

Lets start spamming them with demands of expansion boxes NAOW

Edit: No start collecting box for Flesheater Court? Then that's an easy pass for me. GW, look at the money I have to spare for an expansion to Silver Tower! Witch Hunter and Pit Fighter vs zombies, skellies, ghouls, rabid dogs, crazed criminals and a witch coven! Eh? Eh?!

GW current pattern shows that small expansions are very doubtful. One can hope though.

Since this is WQ: Silver Tower I am assuming that if this sells well we can provably see other "WQ: something" boxes in the future. Fingers crossed.

Also really intrigued by the barbarian. Is there any lore of barbarian tribes not worshiping chaos?

Of course the expansion are doubtful. Which is CRAZY. There has to be SOME awareness at GW about the current KS business model of selling several expansions per base game customer to get hundreds of currencies out of ONE customer. They did it themselves decades ago. Heck, Kirby himself rambled about their quasi obsessive collector customers they pretended to have. Perfect way to milk those completionist!

With all the changes at GW and "experimental" releaes and bundling, well, one can hope. Someone revived Harlequins. They realesed AdMech. Now Genestelaer Cults. Even if was because someone had to pilfer old WDs for things fans might want they'd have learned of their own expansion sets. Gorkamorka and Necromunda sort of had them even.

Of course Silver Tower has to sell first. I'm not expecting a CMON where the expansion is available from the start. But with all the supposed sculpts GW has hold back or scrapped it twlls me that they can afford to have capacity to design a few sprues worth of miniatures that they could turn into molds in case one of their board games is a hit or quitly scrap them if it tanks. Same with tiles, rules, artwork etc. and options to have them produced by their Chinese(?) contractors. GW should be able to release an expansion half a year after they get sale numbers, including shipping from Asia.

I don't expect thia to happen, of course. But it'd make so much SENSE.

Good thing that GW produces enough shirtless meatheads that I can convert into a classic Pit Fighter mit spiked fist, morning star and chainmail gloves (and a TOPKNOT, which I actuallyhate on everything else ), ebay stil has Witch Hunters every now and then and skellies, zombies and ghouls are ubiquitous. Heck, I could raise a warband of those just by opening arandom bits box if I don't mind giant heads and hands. Dogs are produced by other companies, both rotten and not and death wolves are not THAT ugly with different heads, anyway. Witches I have from Blood Rage and could make more from robed skaven and Necros and Flagellants. Now I'd only need some Empire Mitia dudes and a mercenary ogre... I just talked myself into a mew mini project

Maybe the beard is in fact part of the helmet, like the crest. Would be very useful for a naked woman.

....

I wonder if the Gaunt Summoner has a model in the box. The brute, though clearly a sorcerer, doesn't feel right as the final boss for me.

Do you think the big guy the Fireslayer is fighting is a Chaos fireslayer ?
He has the same tatoo, a loincloth, almost the same haircut... and they are fighting together.

Do you see, next to the priest, a kind of creature, in the flames ? Is it an horror or something else ?

And do you think the barbarian could be an old Chaos guy ? The skull on his belt has 4 eyes.

The beastie behind the warrior priest is a horror from what I can tell. Possibly phasing into reality in a burst of flame.

I don't believe it, but... what if the warriors meet their 'evil twins' in the tower? Like a possessed Auric Runemaster (Slayer), a Chaos Sigmarine in black armour wearing a faceless helmet with a crescent moon on it instead of the sun crest but still with the red 'ponytail', a fallen priest/sorcerer and ... um... another barbarian (one who likes birds)?

GW have been making a great effort to engage with the left-handed community lately, take the left-handed paint brush among other examples.

Given this it's not surprising that many new models and characters are left-handed now. And in this day and age, so they should be.

Hey, it wasn't bad. And bolters were bolters since Laserburn (or boltguns, bolt rifles...).

In other news: there was a comment from ... someone ... on Warseer that there's indeed a female character in the game. And I'm inclined to believe him.

GW have been making a great effort to engage with the left-handed community lately, take the left-handed paint brush among other examples.

They make a left handed brush now? How is it any different? Sounds like a sham haha

Any news on new start collecting packs?
Really hoping for some empire stuff. It seems like a logical next release since they took out the knights but no knights for anyone else? (Brettonia I am not counting) I am waiting for some form of empire start collection.
I was taking a look at the undead stuff and the one pack has the skeleton horde one....$100 and you get $155 worth of models! The Akhran model is worth $95 on its own Canadian!

Smokey wispy magic elves? Huh.

Wish the barbarian had his sword out in action mode rather than at rest, but that's not a huge dealbreaker.

Deathrunner looks sweet. No rats incoming? Yes please. At first I thought it might be a hero, and I thought the birdmen above him were actually Seraphon hereos.

Helps paying attention I suppose.

Although I'd be happy to have Seraphon and Skaven heroes!

The guy posting pictures says the price is €125 and that the adventure book is 40 pages with 9 adventures. This makes me think we do not get a full bestiary like last time around... Which kinda makes sense as it has very thematic tiles.

The darker looking aelf makes me think a martial artist the way she's leaping.

There's also some long haired thing in the left corner it seems.

If this doesn't include an RPG book, I wonder if it will be something sold separately.

Of course if stats are vaguely similar to the actual Age of Sigmar rules, those Battletomes could become a whole lot more useful REAL fast.

So there are 51 figures, 7 for the good guys and seems to be 8? Skaven which look sick aswell. That would leave 36 Tzeentch figures? Oh goody goody.

Elf sorcerer dude and Gaunt Summoner look awesome, Tzeentch stuff in general looks good, but I'm not sure that I'm digging the rest of the heroes.

The warrior priest is presumably on a 32mm base, which makes him absolutely huge

The miniatures look fantastic!

The other components also look great. It appears that there are tiles printed in some of the cards, maybe randomly generated dungeons? Also the characters cards seem to be fairly large, is it all flavor text or maybe a levelling system? I also see piles of cards, events maybe, items?

Can only see one - the "Dark Elf"? Can't make out the other Elf Sorcerer to be sure.

The Tzeentch Sorcerer could be - but on the other hand - "it" may not be a single sex any more............or even have a gender......

Also a black guy!

So doing some quick translations on the french description under the picture of the main box, the main things I picked up were as follows:

There are 11 tiles, and they are double sided.
There is a 'guide' book of 40 pages (presumably rules?)
There is an adventure book of 40 pages
Cards (no further details, although in the picture they look like a bit more than just reference pieces with dice and tokens appearing to be on the cards)
51 Citadel models

Yes, there are less models than where in the original Quest game, but they look a smidge better in this new version. Also, Tzaangor. Roughly how long have we been waiting for GW to produce beastmen other than goat dudes?

Really looking forwards to this.

Just read what I could (most of it is too blurred or incomplete) and here is what I can tell you:

-Up to three friends including yourself can play the game
-You play a champion who sets out to explore the Silver Tower either to seek fortune or to kill the Gaunt Summoner.
-The box comes with 13 games tiles, all of them are reversible.
-A 40 page guide
-A 40 page adventure guide
-Cards, tokens dice ...
-51 models, among which 6 champions to choose from (the Barbarian dude is a Chaos Lord).
-125 euros

I'm buying it day one!

As I said, they refer to him as il. Which means he. Unless they did an error on the translation, he is definitively a male.

Just read the text again, and eveything gramatically is pointing toward him being a male. (le gaunt summonner, ce dernier etc). It would be a monumental traduction [MOD EDIT - LANGUAGE! - Alpharius] if it was a female

Well one female model

Yes - that's fine by me - I was answering the previous poster who I think as asking why it mattered if a given model was female or not - it was not clear what he meant tbh.

The shadow elf might be female too. The chest ornamentation looks a bit like a Witch Elf style sport bra.

I will have to bits buy some more Tzaangors. How many are in there? They look so good.

The muscle-bound cultists look surprisingly great as well. Might have to buy more of them as well. I hope the first round of pricing is again skewed against the heroes, like Deatchwatch was, so getting the mooks is hopefully not that hard on the wallet.

Horrors seem to be a bit more like mutated, flailing cephalopods, great.

I *love* Skaven, my favourite thing about Warhammer and current GW Skaven look good (though some of the metal ones are still a lot more characterful), but why the heck are they with Tzeentch dudes? Gutter-runner looking plastic dudes are very welcome for Mordheim and BB, though.

Heroes are meh, barb will look good with the sword turned around, priest is cool, rest seems uninspiring.

So one kit and some bad guys for me!

Concerning skaven, its hard to read what it says, but from the little i can gather, it seem they were sent there to assasinate someone, and the gutter runner can summon illusion of himself, that dissapear as soon as they are attacked

Well, there are female models; plus, the Gaunt Summoner could easily be either.

Well one female model

Yes - that's fine by me - I was answering the previous poster who I think as asking why it mattered if a given model was female or not - it was not clear what he meant tbh.

The Models do all look great - really impressed by GW's boxed games at the moment.

I think both the Elves are female. And yeah the models are awesome.

These are incredible.

I am already finding ways to use these guys in my Thousand Sons army.

Atia said this begins the "reign of Tzeentch" and I can't wait for Rubrics this year, though Sad Panda told me to check back til after Summer for them....

It looks like this game will be well received. GOOD JOB GW

At least it's cheaper than Deathwatch, isn't it? I was fully prepared for a 175€ sticker shock after the 34€ Megaboss.

In the leaked box contents pic, if you look to the right of the priest, it appears there is a tzeentch chaos warrior in black armor, and the magnus the red type ogre guy from the cover art behind him.

Looks to be about the same size as the new pink horrors which makes those huge, ogre Sized models. Awesome if Tzeentch gets ogre, human and swarm sized horrors. Really cool idea and hopefully it gets brought over to daemon armies in the future.

Edit: ogre sized may be a stretch, but definitely on 40mm bases.

The ones on the right do seem to have bifurcated arms. I'm guessing the cluster of four hunched shapes on the left side are the illusions the Assassin summons.

Edit: Scratch they appear to be the exact same models, just pictured from the other side.

The original WHQ was/is my favorite game GW ever put out. So, they have my attention.

But the models alone haven't caught my interest yet. I'm just not a fan of the GW aesthetic since End Times/AoS.

So, I'll keep paying attention until we learn more about the rules. I want to know if the game is as expandable as the old WHQ was, or if its a one-shot. I also want to know if the monsters are still used in "roll 2d6 for monsters, put 'em on the board, and the heroes cut through them." At today's prices, I can't afford to build up a bestiary like I could back when 2 or 3 $5 blisters got you 1d6 of monsters.

As much as I'd like to see a new WHQ in all its glory, times have changed and GW is going to have to prove to me they're going to do this right.

As usual, I've very little interest in the game, so we'll have to see about the models.

I'll reserve judgement on most of it until we get good pictures, but from what we can see the Chaos stuff seems most appealing. Sadly, the Warrior Priest evidently confirms that the size of the Bloodreavers was not "because Chaos" but the new scale for human AoS models, which bodes rather ill for the future of the Empire range.

I'm... not feeling it. While I wanted Warhammer Quest back, I see now what I enjoyed about it was the more 'generic fantasy' feel it had going rather than because it had anything to do with Warhammer. It was basically an RPG lite hack and slash with a few trappings of Warhammer in some of the more unique monsters and heroes.

This is straight up Age of Sigmar as an RPG lite. I really disliked the aesthetic of the models in AoS. So I guess all my years waiting for Warhammer Quests return were in reality waiting for Guillotine Games to make Massive Darkness?

So you've played Silver Tower already? I know some companies do advance copies---even GW has been doing that with sites like Dice Tower.
Same with Massive Darkness.
It'd be cool to read a review (you mentioned it as AoS as an RPG lite) and see how the mechanics work.
Even cooler if you would be willing to compare mechanics of both games once you've played them (sounds like you have played them both?).

Thanks.

Sounds to me more like he doesn't care for the aesthetic. I'm not a huge fan either. The heroes are very Age of Sigmar-y. Honestly, I kinda like the Warrior Priest and the Chaos dude, and the Stormcast is...pretty good as Stormcast go, Stormcast on their own aren't too bad (an army of them loses some of the 'heroic appeal'), but the other three seem a little...I dunno. Busy, might be the term I'm looking for.

Honestly do like the Chaos guys a lot, though. Some of them look like they're drawing on old-school Realm of Chaos craziness as much as Age of Sigmar craziness (to my mind, a vastly superior form of craziness!). Those Chaos Familiar dudes are fantastic. Look at that little guy with the moon head. How cool is that guy? He's going all Poor Yorick on some Stormcast's helmet

Looking at all those swirly, magicky detail I can't help but imagine it going into plastic Ushtabi, Tomb Kings skeletons or chariots, Bretonnian knights. Or Empire, it just begs for excessive detail to recreate all that classic art in model form. But hey at least we have birds circling some big ass centerpiece sigmarine, pun intended.

As for the game, I'll either spend it's equivalent and some on just Tzaangors or buy the box and replace the heroes with whfb models.

Then I'll probably buy more Tzaangors. Hope they rank well.

This game has little appeal to anybody who hasn't grown up playing Warhams or is nostalgic for the 80s and enjoys modeling; the ludicrous price tag certainly doesn't help. It's going to follow DW and BaC quite closely - a means for existing players to get a cheaper bundle of models and a failure to expand the player base.

There is no Betrayal at Calth expansion (not counting White Dwarf material and possibly something digital).

There is a separate HH-based game, but it was written before Calth hit the shelves. It is no more an expansion to Calth than Overkill is an expansion to Execution Force. It simply shares the same setting/time period.

Which board game with 50 HIPS models is cheaper? But yes, it's an obvious play to nostalgia, it's Warhammer Quest after all. Although I do find it a bit funny that you're calling it "80s" and "the same stuff" since the most common complaint I've heard from fans of the old game is that this looks way too "Newhammer" (derisive sneer required) and has nothing in common with the old asthetic. Caught between a rock and a hard place indeed.

Who cares what board game has 50 HIPS figures other than GW fans? This is exactly the way of thinking the company has trained its customers to follow. Bump up clampack prices to $30 to make the boxed sets look like a steal. This isn't a board game proper, it's an assortment of random figures for AoS with a simple board game thrown in so that they can claim they're in the board game market. Except it has no appeal to folks who are into board games. This is a set of buildable plastic figures for modelers, unless you're into that and have access to specialist tools, then you won't buy this.

AoS is very firmly rooted in the 80s, just as WFB was. It was quite a spacious aesthetic, and both universes fit into it quite snugly. From an outsider's perspective, it's very outdated.

This has nothing to do with clampack prices. There is no other company that sells board games with HIPS models cheaper than this. In fact, there are quite a few board games with nothing but PVC models that are pretty close to this price range. As to it being "random figures with a simple board game thrown in" that has "no appeal" to board gamers...

1. We have no idea what the rules are
2. It's the follow-up to Warhammer Quest, a very popular board game among... yes, board gamers.
3. What about it is random? It's heavily themed. I guess if you consider the original WHQ to have "an assortment of random figures", then yes, this does as well.

I would be intrigued to know.

As I see it these games are a good price. This is going to be something like £95-100, which with a 25% FLGS discount comes in at around £75. I don't know what price you put on models but even at £1 each that makes the game £24. If you say each model is worth £2 the game is effectively free even from GW direct.

£1-2 a model is the sort of price you were getting 10 years ago and I struggle to see how it isn't a fair price today.

I have several board games that cost £50 with zero miniatures... My house mate had WoW game cost a ton had horrid rubbery bent to hell figures. £75-95 is fine by me for this.

I've spent enough time on Board Game Geek to know that most board gamers consider models that require assembly to be a massive downside. They much prefer single-piece PVC.

If this *isn't* a limited release, I'd be prepared to put money on at least WD rules expansions for AoS troops and clampack characters at some point.

Biggest beef with GW's new board game onslaught if they don't do expansions or sequels. I guess they didn't know if their rules would be well received OR the cynics are rifght and GW want the boxes to sell minis to regular customers for their armies instead of creating a possible set of xcustomers content with their boardgames. The horror of people not buying the latest tac squad!

Is there any whispering what the attitude towards the box sets inside GW really is? There are probably no plans for a Silver Tower expansion, right? /Stealth info begging

That's the only good thing I can say about this. Other than that - same old, same old. I've fallen out with my love for the 80s aesthetic some time ago and it's quite apparent GW is never going to get with the times, content to regurgitate the same stuff over and over for the eroding fan base.

I'm not sure if there are other current games with HIPS (Shadow of Brimstone, is that still around?) and I can justify the price, but I'm still stuck in the regiment kits way of thinking that 20 plastic dudes should be 30€ or 1.50 a piece Posable vs. not-posable is tough, back in the day monopose was rather bad and I'd buy it only when cheaper, but starting with Blood Island and Space Hulk they can be really, rwally fantastic. This comes close with online prices and there are of course bigger dudes and tiles and rules included, however I can't really count stuff like familiars for modle total when such things used to be bits on the sprues (Bret dog, Gryphs in the tower kit, Gnoblar in the Ogre Bulls kit, etc). The fact that it is supposedly CHEAPER than DW:Overkill is a big, big plus and a nice surprise. When that was more expensive than SH and Calth I was afraid every new one would be more expensive, like they used with newly released armies.

Overall I feel 100ish(=2.XX per mini) is fair if you take the model count, the fact that there are duplicates for mooks but less than most PVC campaigns and the material. Style is a matter of taste, but the minis seem to be very high quality. I hope GW has success with boxes with a relatively good money/minis ratio and is encouraged to go back in that direction as a whole.

PS: GW is directly competing with KSs for my money with such games and won two out of three times so far. If only GW knew that they could've sold me a 50€ expansion right away, as KS ususlly does

PPS: Now they just have to poach Eric Lang. And, shooting for the moon, rebuild some bridges burnt in the past *cough* Chambers, Cavatore, Priestley, Diaz *cough* Imagine GW bringing them back as freelancers to each design a dream boardgame. Not Diaz, though, chain him to a deak and force him to sculpt Slaanesh till his fingers bleed!

Retailers have just been sent this:

In 1994, Games Workshop launched a game called Warhammer Quest. Warhammer Quest is a dungeon bashing game that has proved to be immensely popular over the years and even today many people play the game. Recently there was even a Warhammer Quest computer game and the Warhammer Quest Phone App about the board game has been downloaded over a million times already!

Games Workshop is now releasing a brand new edition for this established and well known & recognised game, full with new miniatures and updated game play. This is a re-imaging of a classic game, where the heroes must battle their way through the Silver Tower to defeat the trials set by the Gaunt Summoner. It is a 2-4 player game, with a random game length depending on the table lay-out and the number of players.

The miniatures will be compatible with regular games and the rules for this will be in White Dwarf 120 (The heroes) and White Dwarf 121 (The bad guys). There will also be a special in-store launch pack with deluxe and limited edition gaming accessories! See photo & details below!

A brand new game in a box, telling the story of a group of mighty heroes battling their way through the Silver Tower. The box contains:

51x brand new highly detailed plastic miniatures, the quality of which there is nothing else like it on the market. Some miniatures are brand new concepts for the army, and will excite many customers! The miniatures have a dynamic single pose and will require glue and assembly (they are not push fit, however easy to put together). The miniatures can be divided into two camps:

The Warhammer Quest Heroes
6x individual Warhammer Quest heroes
Knight Questor – The Paladin (Stormcast Eternal)
Darkoeth Chieftan – The Barbarian (Free People)
Fyreslayer Doomseeker The Dwarf (Dwarf)
Excelsior War priest & Gryph Hound – The header and war priest companion (Free People)
Mistweaver Saith – Female wizad (Aelf)
Tenebrand Shard – The assassin (Aelf)

The Denizens
44x individual Warhammer Quest monsters that live in the Silver Tower. The below list of miniatures make for a great addition or a start of an original Grand Alliance Chaos army!
Gaunt Summoner
Ogroid Traumaturge
2x Skaven Deathrunners
8x Familiars
6x Tzaangors (Beastmen)
8x Kairic Acolytes
2x Pink Horrors
4x Blue Horrors
4x pairs of Brimstone Horrors
8x Grot Scuttlings

Gaming Accessories
A guide book
An adventure quest book
13x Reversible board tiles with different landscapes
6x Hero character cards
36x Skill and treasure cards
40x Exploration (event) cards, to offer even more variation to the game so that each game will be different.
A booklet with assembly instructions
Gaming accessories such as assorted gaming counters and dice sets

The game comes in a high quality rigid box (Dark Vengeance size). The box is full with miniatures and game components and therefore fairly heavy. To ensure that your boxes arrive in a good condition, we have pre-packed the new game in reinforced boxes. You can order in singles, however we do recommend that you order Warhammer Quest in quantities of 5, to ensure your orders arrive in a good condition.

Organise a pre-release party in your store to celebrate the launch! We have made our promotional material for this launch weekend even better! Want to make the most out of the Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower? The bigger you want to make this release, the more promotional support you will get to have an amazing party in your store!

Launch pack with deluxe and limited edition gaming material! See image.

This launch pack contains:

Deluxe soft touch gaming markers
Packs of deluxe holographic hero character cards. Each hero character card pack also contain 4x limited edition hero character cards for additional heroes. These character cards are not in the game and cannot be found anywhere else!
Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower badges (with 6 designs)
Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower art cards

This launch pack will definitely help you, to get your customers in store for a Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower release event!

"The heroes who venture into the incredible maze of the Silver Tower are not all noble and virtuous paragons, with pure intentions. Ruthless and brutal, the Darkoath Chieftain is a warrior who seeks the favor of the gods of Chaos, and who crushes the weak and cowardly to make better progress on the path to glory. The Darkoath Chieftain defeated myriads of rivals, monstrous beasts of the mortal realms and heroes of Order. now he wants to enter the insane maze of the Silver Tower, and he is willing to risk his life and soul to snatch his reward from the evil master of the house."

It says that he want to have the favor of the chaos gods, and that he has beaten numerous heroes of order and mortal beast in order to do so.

Don't really like the spider grots. Their bows are too small and they are not that cool overall. Ogroid is ultra badass though

Game include rules for other daemons of tzeentch. It specifically says screamers, flamers and herald of tzeentch. Even better, page 30 of the wd gives rules to include other kind of heroes. Page 30 is not uploaded unfortunately

Edit : Concerning the other heroes, the guy who uploaded the wd said that in page 30, it is written that GW will releas a silver tower application, and with it you'll be able to BUY the rules of each plastic hero availabe in AOS

I would say three chaos sprues - two of the same sprue with all the basic guys like tzaangor, and then one with the gaunt summoner and the Ogroid Thaumaturge and maybe the familiars?

Also, have just seen the following link: http://www.warhammer-forum.com/index.php?showtopic=240221&page=9#entry2913766 It can be seen on the picture with the Mistweaver and the Warpriest that it refers to going to page 30 to see how to add other heroes, and that other monster can be added. Also, reference to AoS rules over the next two weeks.

Please do expansions - it is a proven money spinner for other companies and would take the actual game aspect from a nice to have to a real winner.

8 Familiars, we have pictures of 4, so they are also double. Sprues sound right otherwise and would match with the Deathwatch game contents.

No, I had a second look at the adventure book and it appears quite thin - I can see the staples. It'd be a pity if they didn't include something like the Roleplay book like the original including linked campaigns as well as leveling up. Not to mention stats for every beastie they had at the time...

I really enjoy that the warpriest is sculpted to be a black man features wise. GW usually just skin color swaps models but this one seems to be deliberately sculpted, which is a nice touch I think.

Okay never having played the original and not knowing exactly what the new is supposed to be, would this be a good game for say a game night with friends/brothers? Is it something that is played in an evening or is it played over a longer peroid of time?

Major omission to the "new edition" of the game, if its not in there. I spent most of my WHQ reading time in that book alone and it + warrior packs were the source of the games gold.

What I really like is that these heroes are archetypes. That means it can be used to make your own hero with its own name and story. Same for the "monsters", they sound more like a generic entry for armies than unique characters.

Seems like the white dwarf will have some means to use even more heroes in it (it says it is described page 30).

The setting of this box is clearly the Silver Tower. I don't expect full rules to use others settings, since I'm pretty sure the tiles are very specifics.

I might have to fall off the cliff to buy this game just for the chaos champion alone.

figures look really good, though I'm not really digging the game itself. I have to think that these are some of GW's best works, aside from the skewered backstory and ... uh... interesting.... questlines.

I'd be so far as to take that chaos guy in, just to kill everyone else, and take their stuff, just to leave and come back with a whole bunch of new meat.. er companions and repeat the process.

Grudgingly, I'm honestly looking at a buy in to get the chaos guys......

It takes Blood for the Blood god to a whole new level.

Which means.... Expansions. whoohoo!!!

When we played Warhammer Quest, we ended up using who we wanted, with minor alterations, figures were easy to insert, if you did not go too overboard on stat padding.

Quest was versatile enough, as well, that you could use the expansion material and add in who you wanted. I distinctly remember using a Grot in one game. He ended up ganking a couple of the players and becoming the life of the party as people started rooting for him. ( I might have to try that one with one of these spiderbabies.)

I notice they say 'the miniatures will be compatible with regular games', plural, but presumably the Tzeentch beastmen, summoner, wizard guys and the heroes won't be compatible with 40k. What are the odds of 40k rules for the brimstone and blue horrors, and does anyone who can read French know if Ogroid is a demon?

No I hhink he's just an evil Sorcerer. He's an underling of the Gaunt Summoner leading his troops into battle.

Squinting really hard I think I see four legs and two arms as well on the little buggers. Interesting.

I've seen NOTHING on Atia's blog suggesting that, so...he's full of crap.

Because they're Skaven, you can see that pretty clearly without needing to squint.

I guess my squint-Fu is strong

I don't like the grot as goblins, I prefer the Brian Nelson gobbos with huge heads, but with skulls, human heads and some gribbly bits or lanterns to look like angler fish, yeah, they'd fit right in. One will walk on four hands instead of feet, of course.

No, I had a second look at the adventure book and it appears quite thin - I can see the staples. It'd be a pity if they didn't include something like the Roleplay book like the original including linked campaigns as well as leveling up. Not to mention stats for every beastie they had at the time...

Major omission to the "new edition" of the game, if its not in there. I spent most of my WHQ reading time in that book alone and it + warrior packs were the source of the games gold.

A point raised on another board is that GW have licensed RPG stuff for Warhammer to Fantasy Flight for the near-term.

That would be the reason then. But I wonder if there will be any advancement opportunities post quest? Ideally fantasy flight would release a tie in roleplay book.

I dont think you need a proper RPG book, just a set of advanced rules for character levelling, travel, travelling to towns / taverns and randomally generating dungeons.

Campaign rules, as opposed to RPG rules. I don't think I've ever used the RPG rules in Quest, but the campaign rules? All the damned time. Those campaign rules are one of the reasons why my group says that Quest isn't fair (and we're fine with that). The "random town event" table and especially the "walk back to town" table are just brutal.

There might be expansions, but the example set by Space Hulk and the other recent board games would suggest otherwise. Until I see otherwise, I'm assuming the game will be a single box, with the odd extra mission in White Dwarf on occasion.

I could see them doing something like the battletomes for adding existing figures in.

While I'd certainly like that stuff to be included with the game, it seems like it won't be.

I'm wondering if there will be any sort of out of dungeon progression or events available. Or purchasable gear.

Maybe they'll surprise us and have an add for such a book on the back of the rulebooks.

Is this game fully cooperative, or does someone play the bad guys? I guess it must be cooperative if the max number of player is 4, and we know the max group size is 4 heroes. But it also says the minimum number of players is 2, and if it were fully cooperative you could play solo.

Man GW needs to stop putting this gak out so fast... These models looks fantastic and fun to paint, great variety in the box... but I can't add to my sprue stack so soon after Overkill, Renegade and the 30th anniversary marine... Too fast too fast!

Fantastic box yet again though, and, again, if anywhere near the price of the others another great value.

Whomever they have sculpting and whatever extra say they have clearly given back to Jes Goodwin (to my eye his touch is all over everything in 2016) is surely a very, very good thing -

Seems very odd the new Warhammer Quest game doesn't have it's own thread

The overall model range in the box is more hit than miss for me. Really lovely looking Chaos Barbarian model; would love if they released a second more dynamic variant later on. The Chaos models are quite nice too and add a much needed boost to the Tzeentch range.

The Night Goblin Scutters are very underwhelming models and odd looking; not sure where that leaves future Goblin model releases. The rest of the good guy range is a bit bland...Sigmarine and Fyreslayer just look like any other in their respective ranges, the running elf looks very Dark Eldar, and the Warrior Priest is ok.

I like the Aelfs. Interesting poses.

I agree the Barbarian is not in the most action packed pose, and wouldn't mind seeing an updated (upgraded?) version somewhere down the line.

The Warpriest reminds me of the older models, but especially of the Avatars of War figure for some reason. Maybe because I have it in front of me.

It's an Age of Sigmar release, really. Wouldn't be much point having its own thread IMO.

Can't wait to add these Tzaangors to the Beastmen force . That Ogroid thingy should look pretty nice too, since it wouldn't look too out of place in a Beastmen army. Great Bray Shaman on steroids maybe?

Rough translation of the Fyreslayer Doomseker::

Fyreslayer Doomseker:
Renouncing their fraternal ties/bonds and their native houses/lodges, doomseekers have sworn an irrevocable oath, which led to a lonely life.
A fyreslayer doesn't tell why he made his oath, perhaps a rite of passage, or the fate of Runeson who doesn't succeed his father (won't succeed his father ?).
Some are the last survivors of a lost/extinct lodge / house, fulfill the last vows of their dead brothers.
Some come back to their house/lodge as heros, after having fulfilled their quest, others cross the Mortal Realms until their death.
Only the doomseeker knows what terrible oath led him to the Silver Tower.

Do you want the others guys ?

Apart from / beside his fickle master, noone from the Silver Tower is more feared or hated than the Ogroïd Thaumaturge (is this an english word too ? It means "sorcerer"), a monster straight out from an originel / primordial nightmare.
He lead the cultists and the savage beastmens of the Silver Tower, as well during their rituals than in combat / in rituals and in combat, throwing / leading the Gaunt Summoner's minions in endless battles raging in the depths of the Silver Tower; all this for the frivolous fun of his demonic master / to entertain his demonic master.
Woe to the adventurer who meet this this monstrous wizard at the turning of a corridor / at the round of a corridor, because he charges head down, like a mad beast / an enraged beast, crushing
the hero too slow to move away under his shoes and fists, and burning the orher in multicolored flames.

Grots Scuttling:

They are the tribal grots' degenerate cousins, whose skinny / malingre body has been remodeled to adjust to life in the corners / the recesses of the Silver Tower.

They remain in the Gaunt Summoner's palace / palatial labyrinth, using poisons and webs to capture the unwary, and retreated from the fight as soon as it looks unfavorable.
They never attack the Silver Tower inhabitants (dangerous and not comestible).
If they have numerical advantage, they can be dangerous for the adventurers who stumble upon / discover their lair.

Next are the aelfs !

It is a frequently spoken topic at the fireside / by the fire, but very little is know about the Tenebrael Shard which some consider a myth.
It is told that he can walk through / between the shadows, like a man goes from one room to another, or turn into a lively dark cloud , deceiving / avoiding his enemies' weapons.
Can he really break a the blade with his bare hands ?
Can he make someone's heart stop by looking at him ?
Noone knows, if the Tenebrael Shard.
As with everything else about him, one can only guess at why he came to the Silver Tower.
