Hi fellow modelers and skaven players!
I was wondering, what are good/easy/cheap starters for conversions regarding the new skaven units like Hell Pit Abomination, Plague Catapult, Thing-Shredder and Poison wind mortar... (did I forget anything?)

Personally, I'm most interested in the Plague catapult, but I've seen many suggestions for the Hell Pit Abomination floating in various threads. I think it would make sense to put these all in one thread.

So, my first take was the O&G stone thrower, maybe put on the base of a Plague Furnace. But this comes a bit expensive. So any cheaper ideas would be appreciated.

These may help you




What ill be doing:

1: Get a carnosaur.
2: Hack it apart, keeping it as just the legs, body and head.
3: Cut away at the head, removing the carapace from the top.
4: GS facial features, including a split open head, with a chunk of warpstone in there lol.
5: Lengthen the arms alot, making them a good 50% longer and bulkier, pose them in a "gimma a hug" pose
6: Use wire to build up a tail, then GS it to make it ratlike, with a triple tail at the end.
7: add fur, boils and slight mutation to it.
8: Tech it up with a small warp-fire thrower poking out of his mouth, a jezzail sight like eye, etc.

Could use either of those as a base for the plague catapault with a few small skaven toutches added to them.



Could use the throwing arm from the furnace on either of them to add the plague element to the army aswell.

I believe the 1st model was from mordenheim (sp?)
A model called the caller i think has something to do with this, ill do some digging about for you.
But from what i can see, it is rather a small model.

The caller (the skeleton rat) is from Necromunda. The Thing from the woods I know, too. It's from Mordheim.

No, I meant the big werewolf guy that looks a bit like an action figure.

the mortor can be made with making a 2 rat team of ol clanrats, one holding a tube convered to look like a mortor the other holding a ball to load.

me im just using warp flamers slightly converted to resemble launchers. and a few of the older models holding wind globes. go Armorcast cimima effects......

However, im tempted to use poinsoned wind globadiers as the crew.

sure, i was thinking of that 2 but i have the old models and a few gnoblers around so figured why not. slave carrier, and slaver skaven loader.

BTW all the slaves in my army are Gnoblers.

Nice idea with the IG-Mortar, you could maybe use some pig iron gasmask heads for the crew or the poisonwind globadiers. But they are a bit hard to work with due to metal models.

Is there a Giant-type model around which can be rather easily converted into some sort of Rat Giant (save the GW one)?
For me: Rat-Giant > Horrible hulking mass

You could also build an optional howdah and play it as a bonebreaker...

I can remember one model, but i cant find the pics of it to save my life -_-

I believe its an old ish FW model.
Its a huge skaven nightrunner / clanrat (unsure?) leaning forward with a blade in its hand.

It should fit on a chariot base as it is fairly large, but i just cant find pics of it -_-
