Here are a few strange things I have seen in the rules:
1) If charging a fear causing enemy you can loose your nerve once attacks are made since the fear test is made in the close combat phase.
2) Frenzy states that it only affects infantry, warbeasts, and cavalry. In the character section it states that when a character is mounted the whole model take on either cavalry/monstrous cavalry/monster troop type.
The question is: Does an infantry character mounted on a monster/monsterous beast make him immune to killing blow?
2b) If no to above, can you stomp/thunderstomp the character?
3) The new challenge rules state than mounts fight in a challenge. They also state that when the opponent is killed, any attacks at a following initiative are lost. This allows for any champion to deny a monster or his mount from attacking simply by issuing a challenge (as they often have two different ini values).
Also to look at it a different way:
A chaos sorcerer and his manticore can both attack (both are ini 5), where a dark elf character (ini 6 or more) on his manticore will strike to quickly and the manticore is left unable to attack at all unless the character somehow doesnt strike the champion down.
I see what this rule was trying to do, but it is flawed as we can see.
4) Do special rules suck as killing blow, multiple wounds etc apply to stom attacks? I.e. a manticore which has killing blow as a rule.
