Do fortifications offer first blood or a kill point in purge the alien this question was asked yesterday in a game. While it did not impact the outcome of the game it is a good question. Specifically the one in question is the ADL and Quad Gun.

--I am leaning towards no because even though fortifications are purchased as part of your army list they are technically usable by either side. The cost you pay is to get some quality terrain with a few bonuses in your deployment zone.
--They are also terrain, weather or not terrain can be a unit is probably debatable.
--On page 109 it says Unlike units, fortifications are not found in codexes suggesting a further differentiation between fortifications and units.
--On page 122 First blood says the first unit of any kind.
--Lastly the quad gun is purchased as part of the ADL so I would expect the ADL needs to be destroyed also to get credit for the quad gun and it can't be because it is battle field debris. Although there is precedent for models purchased as part of a unit being worth individual kill points in dedicated transports.

Anyhow that is why I am leaning towards it doesn't offer up first blood.

No. They are Terrain and not units of any kind so do not fulfil the necessary criteria.
