Flat surface mats have a big virtue, they are play friendly.

The mouse mat style is also nice because it gives you a padded layer for models to land on should they fall, which is better than something hard like a wooden/mdf table or what have you.

Gah, shame it's basically +40% for shipping and that's before taxes pile on - great stuff for you yanks, though!

Yeah its pretty epic terrain, but in regards to shipping isnt it free if its over $150 or at least discounted a lot of international? I am probably mistaken unfortunately. Shipping outside of the states is actually insane, and I don't really get why. I mean even getting stuff to right across the boarder to Canada and the price hike is killer.

Huh, it actually became slightly cheaper once I added more than $150 worth of stuff to the cart. Still works out to +35% ish, though. At that point I'd say plastcraft wins for EU residents.

edit: oopsie, someone just PMed me that, apparently, warsenal *does* have EU distribution via wayland - and it's only a smidgeon over RRP (but including 20% VAT).

If you order it now from Wayland you may get it in time for Christmas!

Just found these guys stock Warsenal, not the recent stuff, though give em a PM to see if they will be. Not used them before so I don't know what the service is like:

use wayland search function for warsenal, click on an item, from there on use tiered navigation (top left, just above list of items found with search) to click back to the warsenal category

yeah, not the best way of showing off wares, but it's there (and the free shipping offer really, really does make wayland a lot more attractive for us mainland EU buyers!)

Arcane miniatures is pretty good, I've used them a couple of times. Bit slow delivery but that's cos I've always picked the free delivery which is 2nd class also customer service queries are usually pretty fast.

Anyone know what Sectorial Tarik Mansuri will be a part of, and what else might be in that same Sectorial?

Aside from Khawarijs, of course!

My standard response is 'Arcane is the one webstore I would never use under any circumstances'.

I'm continually surprised they're still in existence. If you still see Jason ever, ask him about Russ at Arcane.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's the Al Medinat Caliphate, and IIRC it was going to be a sectorial heavy on genetic modifications. And I think Kum riders are in.

Erasoketa is correct that Tark and the khawarij go in the Al-medinat sectorial, a.k.a. the Caliphate. But the Kum riders are in the Khanate sectorial, along with the Hunzakut. The Mukhtair and Numair units? (Ie the new units for Haqq, one of which was probably in the preview we saw a few pages back
Spoiler:
The greaves are like those of the Hassassin minis, btw, but we are not missing any Hassassin, except a few weapon load-outs. Mukhtair seem destined for Al-Medinat. No idea about the Numair, but I'm guessing Khanate,..

Mukhtair and Numair are Caliphate/Al Medinate. Mukhtair, specifically, are the Asawira chosen for the Sultans elite bodyguard. To quote Bostria, they make Ajax 'look like a slowed Gorilla'.

Further on Tarik, Bostria confirmed a long while ago that in the Caliphate sectorial Tarik would be able to Link with Khawarij. Which means the Khawarij will be getting quite the update/expansion, since there's not really much there right now to fill out a link team.

So, the Mukhtair are going to be super badasses with super badass genetic mods with super badass heavy power armor? I can live with this.

Let's hope we see some new Djanbazans though when the Al Medinat stuff comes out. Their old figures are looking a bit... mmm dated.

Djanbazans are in Caliphate too?

They're already in QK...

That's not what Bostria said. Not exactly anyway. The speculation was that the Mukhtair (chosen) were super asawira, but it was never confirmed, and that the numair (panther) was a new camo/skirmisher unit, but given the news about the ambusher rules, it seems more likely that the unit will be an ambusher. at least IIRC from that thread..

Anyway, while they still work

http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/17804-ajax-is-a-slowed-gorilla-compared-to-the-excellence-of-the-mukhtar-and-numair-units/

I hope the mukhtair does not come on a 40mm base. Or with its foot on a rock

We will definitely get a link team of super-jumpers (this is definite) but how has super-jumped changed? We may know in 7-8 days, eh?

Edit:Typos. And apologies to Loki. It looks the word filter software changed Bostria's quote. It changed the word in the link too. Slowed is not the word used. Kind of a dumb filter. IMHO.

Djanbazan in Al Medinate/Caliphate is a possibility, we're hitting a saturation point of units, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some other units double up either. A good example is Druze, Scarface and Kaplans, who all appear in Qapu Khalki, but are all also appearing in mercenary sectorials as well.

Djanbazan make as much sense in Caliphate/Al Medinat as they do in Qapu Khalki. They're genetically altered shock troops, and the Al Medinat is where they undergo their genetic alteration.

The Al Medinat/Caliphate list is going to be based around genetically engineered soldiers. I'd guess Djanbazan would fulfil the same role there - heavy hitting medium infantry, probably giving CB a good reason to do a link team box. I'd expect Khawarij to fulfil the fast (due to their superjump) light infantry link team, probably the link team that will have the most specialists.

Interesting. I thought the Mukhtair concept had more weight behind it. Probably an amalgam of rumours and speculation that just blended together.

Numair being a camo skirmisher, possibly ambush skirmisher, and the concept that matches the Fiday/Lasiq boots makes me excited. An ambush camo Hassassin would definitely be neat.

If the Maghariba Guard is attached to the Caliphate/Al Medinat, I wonder if there's a possibility we might see another non-humanoid type TAG assigned to the Khanate? They can't run on just bike units and the Halqa. They're going to need some kind of heavy support units.

I'm all for a junkyard TAG. But I don't think it'll happen.

There's more to Khanate forces than Kum riders. They're gangers, so they'd have units that fight primarily on foot as well.

Y'know, I play Infinity on a 2-D surface pretty regularly. That playmat could actually work as a terrain set on it's own if don't have buildings handy (or are just starting out with the game). Just play the blocks that look like shipping crates as 3' high solid objects until you have time to build actual terrain. you could still climb things, etc.

I've used Maps of Mystery scif-fi maps to do close-assault actions in hangars and the like, which has been really fun. I'm going to be buying a couple of their ship-interior maps to use in boarding actions. The cool thing about the Maps of Mastery maps is that some of the printed terrain is chest-ehight, giving cover but not full concealment. There a color-coded lines around terrain of various heights (including some pits sunk into the floor).

If you're looking for something more portable than hauling around a full set of terrain (or even just for some interesting shipboard actions etc.) 2-D can be a fun change. And a playmat with terrain printed on it would be a really good way to get the whole game in one box.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Just as a heads-up - according to Warsenal, Wayland listed Warsenal's range for pre-order before contacting Warsenal about becoming a stockist.

Wasn't the Star Wars miniature's game played on those mats? The one thing about them is the cover issue. It is sometimes hard to remember what the color coded lines are, or even that they are there. Adding the blocks is a nice idea. The MYTH game from M.E.R.C.s uses similar color coded line maps. If you poke around you can find some free maps made for the Star Wars game to try.

Are we disagreeing on the filter? My issue is with the filter, not with the fact that it replaced a word, but how it replaced a word. Perhaps that was not clear? In this case, a better filter would simply be to replace the censored word with [removed] or something similar, or even an obviously made-up word like filters normally do around here, instead of another real word. Less confusing to all. I was under the impression that Loki had mis-quoted Bostria.

Filters which are non-obvious, or which change the very meaning of what is said, as in this case, are poorly implemented. Which is why I think, and wrote, it is a dumb filter. I think the same of the "Donkey Cave" filter, if you must know. Perhaps you could suggest to the Admins a filter that is more obvious? To avoid future potential confusion.

I think we can agree that people misuse the word [removed] and there is no place for it on this forum.

I hope this clarifies things.

From the picture, I estimate about 100mm long, as it looks like approximately it's four bases (assuming 25mm) worth.

I think the Star Wars game was indeed played on those- the dude who makes them has a bunch of Star Wars maps on his personal site.

I found the color-coding kinda confusing my first game, but like so many rules it sinks in after your first one and becomes second nature. Also, players with minis -taking- cover tend to be more precise/interested in such things than the guy shooting at them. After a couple turns of playing each side, cover gets more instinctive.
