I'm pretty sure I ordered the Shael Han inserts since they looked the most generic. I don't recall though, and I still haven't received a shipping notice, nor has my stuff mysteriously shown up yet. I look forward to setting them all aside with the rest of my KS stuff I haven't gotten to yet.

Here's what was advertised

Here's what I got. Its just a quick prime and a wash to bring out detail, but its clearly not remotely similar, being a plain, slightly textured base with no tombstones/floor tiles.

I do remember them saying they weren't locked into what we were seeing. That said yeah, should have been in an update. But if they make good on it then it's still one of the smoothest kickstarters I've been involved in.

Granted, I didn't order any inserts no matter how tempted.

Naturally everything is subject to some slight change from concept art, etc. Still, there's a huge difference between what was shown and the "dirt" that people are describing as the sort of stuff that most of us here on Dakka could knock up in 2 minutes with some sand and PVA. I bought them specifically based on the concept art to use as scenery elements/scenic markers/objective markers/etc for my wife's undead army, so what I'm hearing is too far removed for me to be happy with the final result.

Same here.

And that is absolutely a far cry from a standard 'disclaimer' that things 'may' change to what is, supposedly, a very drastic difference.

Time to get that refund for your bases if you ordered the Goritsi ones. Cause that's silliness.

Deep Dish Hadross anyone?

I wasn't expecting that much of a depression in the base.

Clearly they're built for you to have bought base inserts. Those things will just go into my bits box as I base what I'll use of this KS's figure for Kings of War.

And those bases they supplied are nothing but insulting. fething clownshoes.

You know what would have solved the problem?

Include some flat, generic, lightly textured basic toppers.

Like they did for the Goritsi.

I don't particularly recommend looking through google images for a "burn" image. Some of them are plenty NSFW.

nope not acceptable in the least, I shall be asking for a refund (or an alternative) once they arrive

I didn't necessarily expect a prefect copy of the groundwerks stuff, but I did expect 'spooky graveyard' with flagstones & tombstones (even if they had fallen flat) not just scatter sand texture that I actually have to paint

Same here - 'refund' or 'solution' e-mail will be sent as soon as my stuff arrives.

Really, really odd that CMON thought that those bases would be an ok alternative for the very thematic graveyard bases offered during the campaign.

Bases that I paid quite a bit extra for...

I will say that $.50 per base (less really) isn't paying quite a bit extra considering what cast bases tend to cost. That said any amount paid toward what was expected vs. received needs to be addressed.

I guess it is all relative?

I bought quite a few extra Goritsi models, and extra bases to go with them.

I'm not in the habit of rolling down the window and tossing money out of it.

Not even in small amounts...

Yeah, it's a viewpoint thing. I don't throw away small amounts of money either. But I acknowledge when they are small amounts

Not saying it isn't a screw-up in what has otherwise seemed like a pretty solid kickstarter. It is. And you definitely deserve to either get what you paid for or your money back.

Worryingly somebody in the KS comments is implying he ended up with the same 'dirt' bases for his Shae Han

(but no photo links)

I wonder if they just did a single topper style for the whole game

(and why nobody is putting up more pictures.... Waaaaa my stuff is still on the EU boat...... I want to see what I'm going to get so I can get more worked up about not having it yet....Waaaa)

I do not think it is still on the boat, I think it will be already in the customs check. :-)

I got a variety of bases, as I'd originally backed JUST for the bases, as 50 cents a base is a good deal, particularly for 40/50mm (I later caved and upped to Forgotten King). All the others were delivered as promised. The person may have had a packing error, but the Shael Han I pledged for came with the expected Groundwerks mosaic ruins pattern. I'll post some pics later when I get home and can assemble a few things.

One thing that struck me is how rules lite the book seems incredibly light on rules material. There's only one diagram for LOS, nothing for targeting, movement, templates, etc. The game rules take up about 15 pages, but those are pages with massive headers, footers and margins. In comparison, Zombicide and Shadows of Brimstone have more rules crunch. I can't say if that's good/bad until I've played a game (battle report coming soon, circa 2023!) but it is rather surprising.

I am kind of happy about the very deeply dished bases; I had been contemplating making some of my own for semi-aquatic bases with clear resin water etc.

I am pretty sure the bases are the standard sizes PP uses, 30/40/50 mm, right? If so and someone really wants normal bases instead of dished ones, that someone can send me a PM and I can work out trading the normal bases for the dished ones. I have lots of those floating around. (Well, maybe just 100 or so.)

I might take you up on that for some of them Wehrkind. I will make my own aquatics for my Hadross with the deep ones and might pick up some solid resin cast ones for another of my armies but I wouldn't mind some standard ones for one of my forces or another. Since I bought all 5 armies but no inserts.

Sounds good HS. Just let me know.

While I am thinking of it, does anyone who has looked at the rules know if facing matters in particular?

Ok, it will not increase the page count very much, but later there are many rules for the minis itself. So there are few more pages (around 15 for every faction, which could be easily without fluff reduced to 4), but still not much pages.

Cheap gak is still gak. I got 2 sets ($40). That's quite expensive for what amounts to a handful of sand. If they delivered something like what was actually advertised, then yeah, they'd be inexpensive per unit for a worthwhile product.

Well, I didn't order any base toppers, so I had to fill those deep dishes with something.

Ended up just doing the old fashioned white glue and some grain/ sand stuff my wife found at the craft store.

Voila. Gets the job done. Still needs some paint and stuff though.

Apologies for poor camera and painting techniques. Big Bad Momma there doesn't have enough lighting on her to do her thunder thighs justice.

My sand cost a buck.

It's not as fine as I'd like it to be, but it still cost a buck and it's easy to fill my grimdark pizza pans with.

My sand costs the time it takes to scoop it from the ground.

So, I got my four boxes of Goritsi (werewolves were all I wanted) today. Probably won't ever use the rules, but I like to support competition to GW and I figure I can use werewolves somewhere in my vast Fantasy range.

Oh, I got the Twilight Knight crossover, too. Sad that it's it's the same crap that Mantic/PP/CMoN makes their stuff from so bleh on that. Still, it's a Poots' figure so it'll go into the stack of "not till I'm actually good at painting" with the rest.

PS: One more KS down (stick a fork in it, baby). Three to go.

Got my pre-shipping notice today. Literally:

Your delivery is ready to be shipped from
SCA Vending / Ikon Collectables

Which means when I have it in hand at the end of next week I'll be contacting CMoN about the Gortisi bases and also the US$80 they charged to ship it to me from Geelong. Based on my SDE order and how much eParcel costs, it should be a fraction of that.

I can't remember how much I paid for shipping on this one, maybe there's a Geelong tax of having to buy some dude a carton or nothing leaves?
