Probably because of all the promises to "get this one right" from Jeremy pre-campaign.

Maybe for the next project?

The fiction could be that when the Plague Angel had it's gonads torn off, they grew sentient and spawned their own race of minor demon.

The casts of the tree creature torso look really great . Hopefully now that all that's sorted, and he's not actually having to do the casting himself, it should progress much faster.

One can only hope... I am looking forward to getting that tree woman on my shelf while I try to remember what I wanted it for in the first place.

That KS is saddening... i was there from the beginning, end of 2013, then he pushed the KS back to rack more money.
He should have stayed with the 4 demons & 2 dragons. He deleted the first video about how he knew how the industry work and how he will deliver 100% in 2014.

I'm really glad i get bank chargeback for scam 8 months ago. When i see the details on the test print.. it's just awful, look how the boobs.. they are not even round, it's like aliased boobs out of a video game form the 2000's

That's really sad because i was probably the fanboy number 1 getting up until 3am a Week day where i needed to be at work at 8am just to see sneak peek and Jeremy sculpting, and ACTIVELY discussing everything Creature caster related. And brought 5 people to pledging this ks. (they all got chargeback thought their bank with no problem)

Like one of the guy that had it's refund pointed out, Jeremy is REALLY lucky to have done this KS under the OLD terms and conditions, or 90% of backers would already have refund. and he would have extreme financial problems.
Coffee gate was the biggest joke of my whole life.. With 300+K he didn't bought a new $1K GPU and waited like 6 months witching back and forth for excuses.
He literally did nothing for the first 8 months, because somebody else was sculpting then the other guy f*cked up and jeremy took holidays.

The simple lack of update and recurrent lies is enough for ANY court to have this classed as vaporwave (no 20 blue mold that can be anything and 25 treegirl asses are not enough to prove that the 1300 backers will have their 9k+ models before 2050 or EVER.)

Just very sad, and i'm VERY glad Kickstarter changes their ToS so i can back other wargaming KS SAFELY. Because now you have to actually answer to accusation and update your customers.
Jeremy wanted to be a tattoo artist and i think that just after this KS is done he should just do that and stop miniatures. He is just not up to the task and this whole KS was nothing but a scam/joke. Literally nothing prove it will ever be something, and having 5 update a year don't help, no matter the gakky excuses.

Yes i'm sad that this KS didn't work, but it's 100% jeremy's fault for not being invested. 1st wave of miniatures were MOLD READY in 2013. This is a project management level of a 10 years old. This should have been cast 2 years ago. now their just no excuse and i'm sure an absolute maximum of 2 models will be sent and then it will be bs for 2+ years.

Update #84

Feb 8 2016

All models 'master-molded' and casts are looking great

Like
23 likes
Things are trucking right along. The mold-making processes is working great and the casts are so clean! Very little webbing, flash, and almost a completely invisible mold line on every piece. This is as good as it gets.

Spoiler:

Some have asked where the casting is being done. After my trip to England I was preparing for the final manufacturing quotes to come back and the contact I was hoping to work with most flaked out. It was a pretty huge bummer.

I decided to stop putting my fate into the hands of others.

I have done casting in Canada before with Ultraforge and that was the only time I got near-perfect quality. That is simply because when you oversee the process something special happens. Everyone steps up their game.

I decided to get my talented casting guy here in BC to outfit his shop to cast several thousand pieces and hire a team. They have been working for a few months now and are producing some of the best resin casts I have ever seen.
Spoiler:

We are right now on schedule. There is still a ways to go, but manufacturing domestically helps save as much time as possible. I am able to oversee the process personally, in between working my day jobs.

I will soon be collecting up resin cats of each model in order to start painting for display on the website.

There has been a lot of demand for me to keep coming back to the update section and deliver weekly new. The truth is, there is not a lot of news week to week. The bins fill up higher and higher with pieces and we are plugging away with casting, which finalizing our mailing strategy.
Spoiler:

I am happy to give more updates as long as you dont mind them being kind of artsy, perhaps with design and painting, maybe sculpting? Let me know. LOL NO- WRITTEN BLURB AND PHOTOS IS GOOD! NO MORE DRIVEL VIDS--AOV

The Vulture Demon hand sculpt is underway, and as a few of you already know, it is a two-headed Vulture Demon... and it is looking pretty sweet. The kit comes with two heads and you will be able to do this exact conversion yourself. I will be sharing the photos on an update once the conversion is complete.

Updates are going to become weekly so let me know what content you are interested in seeing. Thank again for your continued patience and support. It happening!

A very very sad update... a MONTH after the last update what do you got :

A photo of another demon torso. A single torso.

Heads of the tree woman, that mean more than a months and still casting treewoman....

Photo 2 : more treewoman mold... yeah... the same as last month except they are on shelf instead on box...

Photo 3.. treewoman legs... yeah a bunch of them.. like 30. There are 1400 backers, even if not anyone took that treewoman it's one of the cheapest and was offered with a lot of packs so chances are this is one of the most asked for models. so he basically need 90% more before STARTING another model ?

March update will be treewoman bases and this other demon torso ? more than a months for casting the treewoman, the lightest, easiest and smallest model ?

then during 3 months it will be the spider demon,
then during 3 months it will be the maggot demon,
then during 3 months it will be the plague angel,
then during 3 months it will be the pincer demon,
then during 3 months it will be the vulture demon,
again and again for the warrior demon, zombie dragon, pincer demon, possessed dragon, mountain dragon, emperor dragon
All this assuming the treewoman is as long to cast as the 4 times the size and weight possessed dragon for example...

and from what i understand the models are master molded etc one. by. one.
That mean 2+ months for each models.. I don't even want to imagine how long it will be for the dragons... nobody is getting anything before mid 2018 earliest.

We are right now on schedule.

I had to actually check for the real update to be sure it wasn't made up as a huge joke by angelofvengeance.
2 years late is right on schedule ? Was that schedule ever posted anywhere ? Or only in Jeremy's head ? I just cannot believe he got the balls to actually post that phrase.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
NEWSFLASH YOU ARE 2 YEARS LATE.
I can't believe that last sentence, he gave no schedule after the nov.2014 scheduled delivery. UNLESS YOU MEAN UPDATE #73 (which happen right after people were asking for refunds where jeremy said : Realistically speaking, we can expect to start sending out packages around December [2015. These timescales are still in flux, but I just wanted to start preparing everyone for what will be happening in the few months to come. I will be able to re-visit the timescales once I am in the UK and can see the first part of production begin, in order to get an even more accurate timing of things

that's too easy taking 350K then needing space and time to answer (or not answer...) but as always when things start to get messy count on Jeremy to throw random dates and pics and all for you to not ask a refund. he did it in nov 2014, aug 2015 and will do it again in nov 2016 no problem.

Nothing in that update prove the feasibility of the project. For all we know he bough a house with the $$$ and is molding things with the rent revenue of that house (i mean 25 blue molds... hardly worth anything right now). Again he is so damn lucky this was on the old kickstarter ToS, if he ever do another kickstarter he will not be able to pull any of this.

It's actually really encouraging that he's having the casting done locally with the person he worked with while operating as Ultraforge. I think the chances of this successfully delivering are extremely higher now!

Then again, the only model I'm waiting on is the Treewoman for Wehrkind and she's the one they keep showing pics of!

But seriously, the progress is finally looking good here, and while it's long overdue it's great to see.

WOOO HOOO TREE!

Actually, as odd as it sounds to be saying something nice, taking a few months to get all the tree women done is not unreasonable. The resin I prefer cures over about 3 hours. For me, that means when I am working hard I can get 4 pours a day; if I just worked an 8-9 hour day that would drop to 3. (One first thing in the morning, one at lunch, one in the afternoon to cure over night.)
If we assume that they made 10 mold sets (1 mold set = 1 mold of each part) they can make 30 tree women a day, 40 if they are working really hard.
If there are say 900 tree women that have to go out (a little less than 60% of orders) then it is going to take 30 work days (~1.5 months) to get them all done. If all 1400 odd backers wanted tree women, that's about 43 work days, ~2 months.
Now consider that some pours are going to have issues. Some bit of the mold tears off in the piece, some random bubble here or there, whatever. Depending on the size of the part and how well it is designed for pouring, the failure rate might be between 5-25%. Big bits have a lower rate, smaller bits with spindly branches and odd bends will have more. So over 2 months is reasonable.

It is also possible that the casting operation is not big enough to pour/demold 10 mold sets each time. You can't mix huge batches of resin because it cures faster the more of it there is, so you have to sort of assembly line it. Adding to that issue is the capacity you have for pressurizing the stuff. Pressure chambers are not cheap, so it is feasible that there is only space for 5 mold sets at a time. All this stuff depends on the size of the operation, but man hours and capital capacity can really change the time it takes to crank out all that stuff.

On the other hand, this decision should have been made like a year ago, and the process started then, but what are you going to do? As RiTides said local person J. has experience with is probably our best bet for getting stuff in a timely manner. I don't know why that wasn't J's first pick, but I already know I am not hiring him as a production or project manager.

I'm curious about the "right on schedule" bit as well. Not because he's so fething late, but because he keeps telling us he can't predict how long casting will take so won't give a prospective ship date.

This is what gets my goat. If there was a guy local to him with whom he had a previous(and evidently amicable enough to continue) business relationship, why the gak was he floating about the globe looking for casters in the UK and China? It's such a struggle to believe he could be so dense as to not think of that option sooner, that my natural cynicism kicks in and I can only think of a couple of reasons why - he was trying to cheap-out on the casting to keep more cash for himself, or he fancied a holiday to the UK and decided to pretend it was a business expense so he could pay for it using KS funds.

What a daft berk.

I think it's more likely he just wasn't prepared for the scale of the campaign's success... if it hadn't done as well, he likely would have gone with the local caster directly. But it looks like he had to help expand the operations there to tackle this huge project.

Not saying he's handled it as he should, just that it's hard to plan for the various levels of production he might have needed, and I'm guessing this shattered his expectations (or else he should have planned for it, obviously!). The same happened to Raging Heroes with their first campaign, although I think they've gotten the process figured out now with their caster - as Jeremy hopefully has going forward.

Yeah I just can't buy that. It took him nearly 2 years to think to himself "hmm, I'm rolling in cash and there's a caster I know who does good work just 'round the corner, I could expand his operation to do this project rapidly AND I'd get to closely monitor the quality of the casts!"? And that only after considering casters in two other countries? Maybe I'm just odd, but the guy I already knew and had worked with before would have been my first stop, not my last.

Again, feels weird to defend Jeremy when I am pretty pissed at how long this all taking.... but.

It makes a lot of sense to look for cheaper overseas sources of casting if you expect that this will be a going concern with a high level of sales. I am given to understand that Canada is pretty expensive, even compared to the US, so picking a more cost efficient locale makes sense, but only if you can actually do it. So I am not miffed that he tried to save some cash on huge production runs (resin doesn't offer the economies of scale that plastic does sadly), mostly just miffed that he didn't have a "What happens if this all goes really well?" contingency plan apparently.

Also, I suspect that he did in fact want to go to the UK and this was a convenient excuse that might maybe work out to be a good production fit. It's hard to imagine saving money by making things in the UK when you are based in Canada and presumably sell most of your stuff there and in the US. Maybe it would work? Definitely should have sussed that out closer to the campaign start instead of so long after, however!

But that doesn't track either, because back however many months it was when he was partnering up with that other Canadian outfit to help him with the sculpting work that eventually ended up going nowhere, he assuming this was a typo. Reds8n on in one of his videos about supporting local businesses for local people local local local. I was expecting to start talking about artisinal miniature bakeries. And the perpetual refrain from him has been quality first, quality second, quality all the live-long day, or at least that's been his go-to justification each time there's been a delay(except of course for "my computer broke and, in 2016 in a developed nation, will take weeks/months to fix" and "I'm off to fondle my chakras for a week, ttfn").

I mean any one or two of the multitude of problems, mistakes, delays, and misunderstandings that have cropped up, sure, you could look past that, but the CC campaign is in the running to overtake the first Raging Heroes debacle for the Most Delicious Kicktastrophe Award.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think the campaign is the KS version of Lindsey Lohan on a bender. Bad decisions, bad excuses, then more bad decisions ad nauseum.

My point was more that no matter what he said about supporting local businesses and getting the best quality ever, the economics of the situation are what will drive decisions. It's really cheap to say you care about x, y and z, but when you actually have to pay people real money getting just about the same quality at a lower price starts to look really good, as I suspect Jeremy discovered. He should have picked a caster earlier, but if he was really looking for a better business partner, that makes some sense. And let's face it, many people spout lots of wonderful words about how they are all about wonderful things, only to act rather differently in practice. I bet his computer and web cam he made that video on were not locally manufactured

As per request, weekly updates will be in text and pictures, for easier viewing on mobile devices. Any video will be extra, and will most probably be posting during the week on a weekday.

There was a request to see what final packaging will look like, and a part breakdown of each kit, similar to what Reaper did in this update. This is a great idea and you can look forward to seeing these part breakdowns in the upcoming weeks. This will make conversions and basing ideas easier to plan.

There was a question about our plans to ship and if the hub shipping was still on track. Yes, as with the original plan as detailed on the campaign page, the bulk manufacturing here at the factory will be split up and send in larger sections to various hubs around the world.

With the hub shipping, it means that the manufacturing for your hub has to be completed before it is shipped. That means we can not send out a few packages here and there while we manufacture. It has to be sent out in a fleet.

I am here at home sculpting and converting the Vulture Demon and will most probably be sharing his progress thru a video, with photos as well for those who prefer them. The video will provide an audio commentary about the process of making him. It is a pretty cool conversion, and it is pretty easy to replicate the process of making him, so I hope you all enjoy that.

I was also thinking about another update project which could be the mixing and matching of Creature Caster Demon kits to make interesting combinations. If you got a bundle of creatures, you might be surprised with how they mix up. This update will go hand in hand with the parts breakdown pictures, so look forward to that.

I would also like to do a video just chatting about life and what is going on, for those who follow the more interpersonal stuff. If you do not like watching these vids then you can skip them knowing that any important information that I talk about will be posted in written form.

As far as my personal life, while the miniatures are being cast up in massive quantities I am working my day job and making ends meet. I am doing freelance artwork plus I am doing some good work with a local non-profit organization. Now that manufacturing is underway and I have the personal guarantee that the quality of the miniatures is the best I could possibly send I have gone thru a period of adjustment. On one hand, it is a huge relief to have these miniatures in front of me finally, and in another sense my challenges have now become even greater as they are now directed at keeping everyone happy as they wait for their packages.

I feel the anticipations as well, and it is powerful. This process of making these little creatures have been pretty emotional. I have never had a job like this, and when I talk to others about my experience I realize that it is a rare experience to be in. To be so invested into a piece of art and those who have backed it is intense. Right now, it is my every focus to keep you entertained and informed, right up until the ship.

I am curious to find out some of your ideas for updates. Please post them in the comments section below. Always nice to see familiar faces there, and you support and patience is always appreciated. I will be back in a week with more news, and hopefully during the week with a vid. Have a great week everyone.

I feel like he needs a friend, or at least drinking buddy, to talk to in his everyday life. He seems to have an unusually strong desire to tell other people about his personal life, even complete strangers who buy things from him over the internet. Or maybe I am just not as interested in hearing about other people's lives and discussing my own at length.
