Thanks!!! I've been meaning to post this image on Dakka and I'm pleased you did it Alpharius. He is a big lad. The other trolls won't be quite as big! However the Zombie Hulk is even bigger!!!

I love trolls - Old School Trolls that is!

This one more than qualifies, and once he's available 'retail', I'm buying one!

Not quite a CD but close. He is on a 115mm by 80mm oval base.

That looks amazing. All of these look amazing. I'm so glad I saw this thread!

So the next kickstarter is planned to be the Zombie Hulk, and after that you're thinking goblins, right? Got my fingers crossed...all that concept art is incredible, I think that's my new favorite look for the little guys.

Don't forget the hook horror and minotaur!

Like I had typed in the comments, I'm very pleased with what I got. Very crisp details. After a bit of trimming on one arm, the pieces fit in without glue even. These were a heck of a lot easier to build then my Mierce stuff, that's for sure.

Plan on picking up some primer this afternoon and getting to work on them this week!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Its been some time since we posted on the forums mainly due to the pressure of getting the Kickstarter fulfilled and out to our wonderful backers. The good news is that this is almost done. We have picked the final parcels for our backers and these are going out to the distributor over the holiday season to be delivered in the New Year I suspect.

This means I have some time to dedicate to other things in my life! Actually it means I have been thinking about the next KS that we will be launching in the first few months of 2016. We are in no rush to get this started asap as traditionally January KS are not as successful and there are plenty of other KS's going on in the meantime.

As you may or not know Minion Miniatures is a very small company, currently run part time by myself and my patient other half. I am a chap with a vision who wants to bring a variant of a well known fantasy world to life through our miniatures and eventually through our skirmish wargame Underdeep. Although we have invested a lot of money into this venture it is the KS framework that has enabled us to realise my dream of owning and running a miniatures company and it is through KS that we will continue to work for the meantime.

Our current goal is to release our Goblin faction via KS in its entirety. This can only happen if we can fund the renders and printing of them and to do this we have decided to run a Monsters of Underdeep 2 Kickstarter.

This KS will involve all of the original monsters available during Monsters of Underdeep 1 (although at a less discounted rate to protect our original backers) along with some new monsters. The primary focus of the KS will be our huge new monsters... the Zombie Hulk.

For those of you who have backed our last project and received the Troll, the Zombie Hulk is even bigger!!! He will have a plethora of additional parts, including new weapons, heads, little zombie dudes and a couple of additional gut plates (one of which will be armoured and the other a massive toothed belly maw).

The render shown below is just a WIP and there is plenty more texturing etc to be done but it gives an idea of the basic design we are looking at.

There will be an early bird option for one Zombie Hulk, 2 Zombie Hulks and 3 Zombie Hulks along with another couple for the Monsters as well. All the monsters and pledge levels will also be available as part of the addon store.

More info to come...

I have been "Off Air" for a while working hard in the background fulfilling the last our KS and making sure that our pledgers are happy.

Now that all the pledges have been sent I have been working on the new Kickstarter, beginning in late March and entitled; The Monsters of Underdeep 2 - The Zombie Hulk.

For those that have not seen the Zombie Hulk I have attached some pictures and size comparisons for you to see as well as some of the monsters from the last campaignt hat will be available again during the next campaign.

All of the miniatures below come on 60mm bases apart from the troll and hulk who stand on 100mm bases. This gives you an understanding of the size of these guys.

I will be posting more stuff over the next few weeks so keep an eye out!!

The Zombie hulk is bigger than the Troll who is about 75mm to eyeline.

The above pic gives an idea of how big the Troll is against a GW Lotr model.

Those are some beautiful minis! Really imposing, with such a menace to them.

Have to ask, though, are those plastic Goblins you had planned still on the radar any time soon? I really liked the direction you were going with those.

I missed out on the last KS as the ZH didn't fund. So I'll be all over this! Really hope you're still going to release your ruleset for The Underdeep as I found it quite interesting.

The plastics are now a long term goal once the skirmish game is released. The plan is to slowly establish the range with two or three factions before releasing the rules proper. This will also coincide with us focusing on the plastic range again.

Looking forward to that Hook Horror (I probably can't justify the Hulk, cool though it is),

The Bugbears and Lizard Men and Troll Patriarch I got are fantastic so I can highly recommend your products to anybody who's on the fence

Agreed, the 4 minis that I received from the last KS were very nice indeed.

I'll be pledging for the big guy in the next KS for sure!

Hopefully there will be a decent pledge manager this time too, or I'll just have to end up emailing my choices again

As you may know by now the Monsters of Underdeep Kickstarter will be beginning at the beginning of April.

Please keep your eyes peeled for an update over the next few days.

I thought I would post some of the plates from the KS as a taster!

April 4th sees the launch of the new Minion Miniatures Kickstarter: The Monsters of Underdeep 2.

Since the success of our last KS we have been finalising the design of our Zombie Hulk miniature that will form the basis of the new Kickstarter. The Zombie Hulk is one of the larger denizens of the Underdeep and will be double if not three times the size of our earlier offerings. He stands an impressive 85mm to eye line, however with his shoulder spikes and vestigial wings he will stand approximately 130mm tall!

As well as the Zombie Hulk all of the previous Monsters will be available this time round including the formidable Bugbear Ironshield, the primordial Lizardkin Deathscale and the grotesque Flesh Golem. These miniatures average at roughly 60mm to eye line and all come on 60mm round bases.

The last of the miniatures available from the start will be the Troll Patriarch. This miniature is also huge, twice the size of our Bugbear Ironshield miniature he stands at a whopping 70mm to eye line and comes with a 90mm round base.

As last time there will lots of unlockable stretch goals including new monsters such as the Minotaur Guardian, the Hook Beast and the Underhulk as well as a multitude of parts for the new monsters and course the Zombie Hulk.

Finally, as last time, some of the stretch goal parts will be free to backers of a certain level.

We have truly gained valuable experience from our first KS and we will make sure all of this knowledge is put to good use to make this KS even more successful than the first.

Exciting stuff! I'm so glad there's another chance to get that troll.

The Troll is indeed available. He is available as an addon to any pledge or there is a pledge where he can be purchased on his own. IUf he is purchased as an addon to a larger pledge the discount on normal brutes will also be applied to him. This means the bigger the pledge the cheaper he will be.

Excellent. I backed the cancelled KS, and then missed backing the relaunched one by a day/hours. I'm happy to have another chance to get a couple of Bugbears and the Troll.

...maybe I'll finish my whopping 4 figures before this one starts.

...
...
...
....probably not. At least my second bugbear is almost finished and I've finally made up my mind how I want to proceed with my Deathscales.

Hopefully I can distract my wife long enough to pledge for this one as well. I'm really interested in the Hulk with some of those crazy add on parts!

At least I got one guy done (and also to give folks a size comparison, as the companion figure here (who has a matching tartan since the two are BFFs) is on a 40mm base-

My lone finished Bugbear pulling double duty as a Trollkin Bouncer as well as a Ogre Siegebreaker Hero for Kings of War.

The big guy gets around!

I'll probably back this for some additional Flesh Golems, but that Zombie Hulk just doesn't do it for me at all, as I've said before.

Love the Bugbear Highlord... I know a couple of,other people that use the minis for Trollbloods... Nice paint job.

That Bugbear looks nice but you can't really call them 28mm if they're all 65mm to the eyeline. That's a 65mm model.. which is WAY too big for a 28mm bugbear (which are normally just a bit bigger than a man).

Regular Dakkanaut

Not in the Underdeep universe...

He is 28mm scale and will fit in with the rest of our range. In our descriptive text of the Burbear Ironshield it is said that only the largest examples are kitted out in this fashion. There are of course smaller Bugbears. We have another model available in this KS called the Bugbear Brute who will be slightly smaller (but not by much).

The whole idea of Underdeep as a range is that we wanted to put a twist on the standard fantasy world. Everything is familiar, but also a bit different.

You are quite right, our Bugbear is not the Bugbear of your standard fantasy rpg... He is a whole lot more!!

The Monsters of Underdeep Kickstarter kind of just happened. We were originally going to release both the Goblinkind faction and the Abomination faction at the same time, followed by the other factions in turn. Due to our first KS cancelling, we had to rethink things and we decided to release our biggest and most impressive creations first. The second KS was very sucessful.

This has been great for us but, admittedly, it has unbalanced our releases slightly. The reason for this is that its easier to see a miniatures place within a range when the full range is available to see. For example a Giant has no context until it seen as part of a goblin horde.

This is what has happened with our range so far. These mini's are centre piece models for a skirmish warband of around 30 models. Seen in the right context they fit.

However, I do see what you mean when compared to what is currently available.

Okay.. well have fun with that.. are your goblins also 2" tall?

I'm not seeing a problem here. The Ironshield is part of the (fictional) Bugbear race, who says some of them cant be freakishly big?

What's the problem exactly, is it the fact that they're calling it a bugbear but not following the D&D template? I don't really see why these models wouldn't be considered 28mm scale just like any other bigger models in a 28mm setting...
