I would suggest, for this project, investing in a set of rechargeable batteries. You can get a set and a charger for darn cheap off of Amazon.com.
You also need a sound chip and a speaker and a mercury switch and...

Ha, I was just at Radio Shack the other day trying to figure out if I could use a sound module for anything cool. I was thinking maybe back ground explosion noise from a piece of terrain, might set battle mood. Anybody remember the FW Squiggoth that someone put an Ipod speakers and dock into? And yeah. rivets looking good!
