The scenic base with teleport homer is fantastic, I love the scorched ground underneath him too.

I really like the mantis arms compared to the first trial run as well. Looks really brutal.

Great work and let us know whats next on the painting table.

Good work besides.

Your son needs a Land Raider so instead of buying it you decide to build one.....my jaw is on the floor. Unbelievable. It looks awesome. But do you have permission from the Priests of Mars to go ripping their design off?

But first heres one I made earlier. About 5 years ago.

I think I prefer smaller base more. But I really like the overall design of the blades.

Not where I should be

Thank you all as always guys, very much appreciated.

Been a bit slow this week really, bit tired. Did start one of the many ideas I have for the new LoER terrain competition. The theme is Fence it in! So anything along the lines of fencing, walls, etc.

So I started with a bit of this...

Bit of buggering around with a knife and some milliput and this...

Couple washes and here I am at...

Next up at the mo, is a big and very serious question....

Space Marines, how do people feel about Camo Marines? At the moment I have a modest Smurf army, but would consider repainting them, and I have a bug for painting them camo, with accents of the chapter colour instead! I know I have seen on here at least one camo scheme, and like it. To me it makes sense that any army would have camo and not bright colours that stand out a mile off, so is there a reason for them being so coloured? The way a lot of people paint them so dirty and chipped up these days they are nearly camo half the time anyways!

Anyways here is the LR at the mo, but stopping and thinking of a quick re-prime and going camo.

Thanks for looking in, and please feel free to comment, especially on the camo subject.

short answer to camo marines... in my humble opinion...do iiiiiitttt!!! I think if you ever have some spare money... get yourself some upgrades from anvil industries... their spec ops stuff is the coolest stuff for any marine player around the world methinks... and makes SM cool again...even if you´re not a eight year old anymore

I have seen quite a lot of camoed marines in the www... even tiger marines...in orange and black... and they were not a funny army... they looked serious! also real camo colours like browns and greens I think would make marines look way cooler than the over used bretonian knights on steroids look... so go for it!!!^^

(and don´t get me wrong here, your mantis warrior is an amazing piece!... the whole terminator homage you did with the scorched ground and the homing device is such a cool idea... I think everyone should nick that idea for their respective armies!)

what else?...ah yes... that landraider looks amazing... have you casted some of the details there? looks like that... it is a very good looking and very convincing scratch build...a grace for every marine player.

and then finally...the wall...looks amazing... tho I have a question... didn´t MT ask for not ruined walls?... or did I misread the rules here?... I like the vines immensely... and the fact that you choose a modern wall structure overrun by plantlife is a guarantee for a cool piece already!...how many more pieces will you add to the project by the way?... weren't we supposed to build two sections of minimum of 12 inches (30cm each???)...

also...good to see you back matey, been wondering what kept you being here^^

cheers, and best wishes to you and your loved ones

vik

Thanks Vik,

Definately leaning toward camo. Raider is re-primed white as we speak.

Not sure on the wall, I will be doing more of it, but I might go a different way all together not sure yet.

For now just done one section to see what I think...

Thoughts?

always love your graffiti work, especially against the Ultramarines, even though I am sorely thinking of repainting all my guys as smurfs . That's what I get for reading "unremembered empire". Nice wall by the way, bet it looks great next to the hotel.

Maybe they don't feel like they *need* camo... but most soldiers tend to wear it so why not marines

@ Theo, Got to have a bit of fun hey! Funny that I am about to repaint me smurfs.

@ Gits, glad you think so.
@ GamesEtc. Don't put yourself down dude, I am no painter, (loose every painting contest I enter.) But your work is great, and we are all still learning, and improving so don't you dare give up, you are what the comps about, come give us a run for our money.

Huh, pretty cool. It's some form of desert camo right?

It looks pretty effective and the one blue shoulderpad is iconic to the point that I still assume he's an Ultra.

Hey Cam, I tend to use a darker base color regarding camo patterning, and also, the one base patter is needing to be lighter than the inner splinter, once they get dirty washed, it will show proper.

Just thoughts to help out.

Good work on the wall and well done on the LR build, shape looks spot on.

Cam-o' ( ) looks good. Nice subtle contrast will help the models stand out on a table (as in, the camo' is not too good). The blue areas work well.

Thanks guys, hoping by the time I get done weathering it down when it is fully built, it will look the business.

Started in on the sponsons today, still ongoing, but here is a progress report.

Square rail fits over round so turnable.

Probably magnetise the weapons onto the square. as you can see I am varying away from "true" design a bit here, but then I am always doing that.

Any help thoughts you guys want to lay down here is greatly appreciated. If you see me in trouble please shout. It will hopefully help and inspire others.

The Camo scheme looks cool, I agree that a stronger contrast between the base and the stripe is needed though.

In regards to why Marines don't use Camo (except maybe the scouts) is tied to the whole Medieval Heraldry thing about not being afraid of identifying yourself. But that of course was during a period of time where Battle Cannons and the like didn't exist.....

Thanks.
