I have never been brave enough to tackle much in the way of Tzeentch, I just cannot get my head around the general brightness of the pallette. Good luck in getting them painted up.

Great work AOV, the flamer looks excellent, the basing really works for Silver Tower (and AOS to be fair), great to see you making some progress. Have you put the Void Shield Generator together yet, those things are pretty big.

I think for the Pyrocaster(unit leader) I'll be giving it some green warp flame to as per Master Artificer Rhodes' paint tutorial. So Ceramite White followed by a glaze of Way watcher Green, then highlighted with Moot Green and Caliban Green. Should look pretty special.

Had a little experiment with the Gemstone technical paints today and revisited my Space Hulk blingernators.

Using some Soulstone Blue and Spiritstone red technical paints, I mixed the two to create this lovely shade of purple, befitting a Son of Sanguinius' bling. It was 2 parts blue and about 4 parts red in case you wondered .

Boom

Edit: Pic is a little grainy here so I may kill it and get a proper one done...you get the idea though!

"I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive..."

Hello one and all. Been busy with life stuff of late, but I have managed to build something. Got rather lucky and snapped up a plastic void shield generator to hook my promethium relay pipes up to . Very nice piece of kit, thought the dais suspended by those pillars was fiddly. The pillars were about 10 pieces each on their own, but they're bloody solid so less chance of them snapping. The large cogs on the bottom can be turned independently of the rest of the building, though it seems a bit pointless considering I have to paint it. Base it or leave it as is?

Blimey, that is one big kit. I still think the rrp is at least 30% too much. I would say go for the no base option, then it will be much more flexible as a terrain piece. But that Defiler lurking in the background means that I cannot shift the mental image of it scaling the VSG a la King Kong.

Hello all,

Continuing with my 40K stuff again, this time in the form of Deathwatch. I'm going to be making this kill team to add a bit of fun to Deathwatch Overkill games. Introducing the first 2 members of Kill Team Excis(WD SEPTEMBER2016). The doomed squad of heroes who went to investigate Ghosar Quintus the first time around.

Say hello to Vondel Omid(drawn from the Crimson Fists) with his Infernus pattern heavy bolter, and Luca Thalassi(drawn from the Flesh Tearers) with bolter and power sword.

Hi folks,

Not been getting much time to hobby this week, although I did manage to get a game of DW Overkill in last night. So here's a brief summary of that fateful mission.

Mission IX: Eliminate the Alpha Threat

++KILL TEAM CASSIUS CLOSING IN ON ALPHA THREAT. PLEASE STAND BY++

After successfully regrouping with Cassius and making it to the elevator in Mission 8: Purgation Protocols, the Kill Team make it down to the inner sanctum of the Genestealer Cult. The Four-armed Emperor would die this day.

Deathwatch objectives: Kill the Patriarch
Genestealer objectives: Kill all Astartes.

Kill Team: All 11 Deathwatch
Broodmind deck: After setting up the Patriarch, Primus, Magus and his familiars in the throne room, you draw 8 Broodmind cards and lay 5 of them at as Cult Ambushes each turn at the areas shown on the map (Lots and lots of cultists!)

Mission special rules:

Last Gasp: The Deathwatch are surrounded by enemies and running low on ammo. No combat recoveries allowed. Attacks limited to Combat range or assault.
Sustaining Nutrients: If the Patriarch is on his throne and has suffered a wound, flip his card over to the unwounded side at the end of the Genestealer attack phase (if he's still alive).
Psychic Conduit: When on his throne the Patriarch can choose to use his Psychic Scream to attack a single Deathwatch marine on any board section, or use it normally.
Energy Field: When the Patriarch is on his throne, he is protected by an energy shield. He cannot be attacked at any range greater than Assault. (Basically you have to run up and stab him if he stays on the throne
The Patriarch can be SUCH a fething pain in the ass on this mission! My brother basically just left him sat on his throne all the way through, so he just kept psychic screams pumping out.

There was a fair bit of platform jumping going on in the first few turns, there're a few damaged gantries on the way to the Patriarch's Throne Room. I had to split my forces a little, to counter any unpleasantness coming from the left flank. Unfortunately, during my platform jumping, a few of my guys sustained injuries (you roll a D6 and if you roll 1s, you sustain an injury- not helpful in this regard as you can't combat recover!). After jumping the gaps Grytt, Natorian, and Suberei all took wounds from not sticking the landing well and my brother's first few attack phases, basically involved him sniping the wounded ones with the Patriarch's Psychic Scream.
The Magus was also pretty annoying, there were a few instances where he cast Dominion and immobilised folks (Namely Branatar, Gydrael and Donatus)

By the time I got into the Throne Room, it was looking a bit grim. I'd lost half my Kill Team to the vile Xenos mutant abominations. 2 of which(Grytt and Natorian) didn't even get off the first board section. Redblade took a hit from a mining laser (promptly went and butchered the perpetrator and his friends after) then had his head popped by the Patriarch's Psychic Scream.
Setorax got gunned down by cultists (but had just killed A LOT of them with grenades and the Primus with claws).

My brother then made the mistake of moving his Magus within range of my melta guns (Sorrlock and Branatar). I had Cassius, Sorrlock and Gydrael leg it into the throne room, smashing, stabbing and melting things as they went. Branatar sadly got Dominion cast on him so he stood there like a lemming as a cultist shot him with an auto rifle (I assume in the eye?) Then that was followed by bursting his head like a melon with Psychic Scream. My god. My brother had so many good rolls with that spell for this mission. Needs a 5+ to cast it and it has Cleave so you don't get an armour save!

With Donatus, Gydrael and Delassio holding the rear, Cassius and Sorrlock closed with the Patriarch. My brother's Magus returns via reinforcements and my brother uses a gambit card called The Horror which basically means any attacks on the Patriarch need 6s to hit instead of their regular roll for that turn. I managed to get one 6. Which then regenerated the next turn cause he's on the Throne. FFS. Cassius gets murdered by the Patriarch and so does Sorrlock. By this time, Gydrael has moved in to fight the Patriarch as well. Donatus gets Dominion cast on him then shot and stabbed. Delassio gets shot.

Gydrael faces off against the Patriarch, only to be dominated, followed by a "genestealer massage" as my brother put it. Even with Gydrael's Grim Resolve rule, he didn't manage to land successful hits. It basically allows him to make an attack even when he's been "killed".

++COMMUNICATIONS LOST. KILL TEAM CASSIUS NOT RESPONDING++

++STANDBY++

++IN FEALTY OF THE GOD EMPEROR OUR UNDYING LORD, AND BY THE GRACE OF THE GOLDEN THRONE, I DECLARE EXTERMINATUS UPON THE IMPERIAL WORLD OF GHOSAR QUINTUS. I HEREBY SIGN THE DEATH WARRANT OF AN ENTIRE WORLD, AND CONSIGN A BILLION SOULS TO OBLIVION.

Hat tip to my brother for the name. Here is the venerable dreadnought, Nebiros.

It is rumoured amongst the Inner Circle of the Dark Angels, that one of the Fallen lies within the Watch Fortress of Talasa Prime. While Nebiros' experience is an invaluable asset to the Deathwatch, he has a habit of making his Watch-Brothers feel uneasy in his presence. Particularly those of the Dark Angels. On occasion, those trying to discover his identity usually wind up dying under suspicious circumstances on the field of battle.

I've already started. With Zameon Gydrael (the Dark Angel) from Overkill. Was painting his armour and robes last night as it happens.

In present day 40K, he's currently participating in the Warzone Fenris Campaign, as is the Space Wolves guy, Drenn Redblade (now a Long Fang). Clearing out the daemon incursion in Morkai's Keep.

Got a little painting done on Gydrael last night. Robes, face and the silver arm mostly. Quite happy with how the chest came out though. Going to be painting the dagger and the top of the wings gold I think to make that pop. Need to fix the legs though cause i got paint all over them doing the inside of the robes.

In other news, my copy of The Burning of Prospero has arrived! Should be building some MkIII this weekend with any luck.

Hello all,

Been building some Legion Astartes, Sisters of Silence and Custodes Shield-Captain today. Gotta say, GW continue to kick things up a notch lately. The MkIII marines are stunning and very well designed for plastic. Sisters are a bit bloody fiddly- so tiny when you've spent so long building Astartes and Stormcasts. Smaller than Eldar I think.

While the Sisters are tiny compared to Astartes, they're pretty badass. More than a match for the traitors.

As for Custodes, well, they're fething huge and bloody gorgeous minis. Love their beefy Guardian Spears and Sentinel Blades.

My brother has been busy today also, building his Gal Vorbak (counts as Sons of Horus Luperci- their equivalent possessed unit)and Legionnaires

Looking good. What resin heads have you used on some of the Mk III marines? They look great.

I am loving everything in Prosperous bar the Custodians, the relic blades just look far too thick to me.

Anyway seems like you have had a big day or two of construction, keep it up.
