The Pirates one (7 Seas) is a fan written one that they like so much they did mention neatening up the document and selling downloads of it. Not sure it is planned for print though.

I've not heard of a 7TV fantasy book, but they have been talking about a book that covers Magic and the supernatural in general called Tales of the Unexplained

Ah yes Tales of the Unexplained is the one I'm referring too. My information tends to come from friends who persue details more than myself, so ah, I can miss out and mix things up at times.

7th Voyage has its beasties, though the Summer Special also has the Envoys if you're looking for something beefier. There's always the star monster from the 7th Voyage expansion which has a generic profile, but can be upgraded to be a decent final boss monster (I used it to make a Deathclaw). I'd just take a profile that looks all right, strip out the traits that don't work for you (ie "Animal" might be a bit of a nuisance, so swap it out for something which impairs vision or the like) and leave it at that. Ah, and mind that the Menagerie has humanoid creatures too come to think of it. I suppose what you'd be using in games is entirely dependant on what you can pick up cheap at the shops, or stick together out of spare parts and greenstuff? =P

Ah, and there's always 7ombieTv (if you remove the random zombie movement rules, again replacing those with a defect)... Hmn, come to think of it didn't I post some of my own rules for zombie games here? I think that included some Resident Evil/Silent Hill creatures (plants of various types which could infect people. Giant Leeches which came in swarms and could swarm over people to control them), but I can't remember whether I posted the complete version of those rules or just a stripped down version. Bleh, I aught to compile all my 7Tv rules into something useful instead of chucking them away at the end of a game.

Yes, yes you should, for the greater good and all that.

Well, no rush, Halloween is more or less already settled and locked in, just a good old romp of zombies versus survivors in a shack in the woods.

Eugh, I'll stick that in the list of other planned projects that I'll definitely do. ...Along with painting up my Enclave faction and ever finishing any of my terrain (did I hear the words Radio Tower?).

Tsk a shack in the woods how dour. Next week I'm playing a zombie scenario in a mall. Hmn, I need to write up some mechanics for scavenging materials to barricade with (no clothes racks don't block things very well...). ^^

Oh, and off topic. ^^

The Paranormal Investigators are now available in Crooked Dice's webstore. £15.50 for the lot or £3.25 each. K, thread obligations over, back to talking about ukulele on Facebook (because where else do I find this information than between posts on my Facebook wall?).

Hmn, is it just me or does the sculptor they had for these sculpt legs the same way with all his mins? They're the same set of trousers on the super villain henchmen and Apes. Uh, just an observation.

Sculptors, like any type of artist working on commission, can get into a grind. In many ways the artwork is a process, and when something is working well, there can be little incentive to change it overly much. Plus, in areas like uniform shoes and trousers, consistency is important. Another important factor is that miniatures need to be manufacturable, and making something that can't be molded, doesn't cast properly, or fails under light use can lead to having to re-do a piece at one's own expense.

If you follow a lot of a sculptor's work, you will sometimes notice that poses can start to get a little samey-samey, especially if the artist is working on a large batch of miniatures quickly. There's less time for creative problem-solving in those types of commissions. The fees being charged could also be a factor. If the sculptor is working within a fee arrangement that is on the lower end of his/her commission rates (for whatever reason), you might see more process-oriented work and less creativity.

These ghost hunter pieces though are perfectly fine sculpts. They're a little 90s, but that's consistent with the style of the Crooked Dice miniatures range. These pieces don't jump out at you as the best miniatures you've seen this year, but they well represent what they are supposed to represent and overall the quality looks to be very nice. They also look to be very easy to paint, which is always a plus. It is always hard to tell from photos, but there looks to be a few fiddley spots here and there, like collar around Rae Stanzowitz's uniform, though as a whole these miniatures should paint up nicely without too much work.

And yes, they could even be resculpts of previous work, in which case the legs would literally be the same.

None of the Crooked Dice models jumped out to me to look awesome but they all look good enough and I would be happy to use them. In fact I do have some of them somewhere...

Bear in mind you see the image blown up on screen while the figures are half the size in real life.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

From the Crooked Facebook:

NEW BUSINESS DECISION:

Things are pretty busy at Dice Volcano HQ, am currently running myself ragged every day trying to get everything done ASAP, as well as dealing with school runs, and everything else I do round the house on a day-to-day basis. So…

From now on all Dice input is going in a pile. Orders, trade orders and enquiries will be dealt with in order, according to the time I reasonably have available. Bribes will go to the top of the pile, complaints in the bin.

Which means if it's busy (start of the month, say) you might have to wait an extra few days. Hopefully you'll all be OK with this. If not, please follow the yellow corridor to the Euthanasia Chamber.

G@CD.

STOCK UPDATE!

The Paranormal Exterminators (PX) and the Accessories have SOLD OUT. If you have ordered one or both, check to see if you have an email confirming your order has been completed (posted/shipped). If not, you're in the queue for the next lot.

We have put another order of lead in, this should be with us next week, hopefully early next week. If your order contains other items, the whole order will be held until we get the PX restocks in.

SHH!… Don't tell anyone! Looks like we will be doing another 5 'very similar' models to go with these.

We have greens of the next 4 of our licensed figures from Sculptor X. Her in Charge (we'll give her the codename K) has OK'd 1 of them, some changes to be made to 3.

Emphasis mine. So nine new models. presumably five Ghostbusters ones and four from that 1960's kill Hitler show (yup, I forgot its name, and yes, I'm too lazy to just pop over onto the over page to find it out).

Quit making models which the plebs froth over and come out with more expansions for us rules whores.

Oh yeah, I forgot there was a cartoon. Hmn, I'm trying to think what those minis could be. The secretary lady, the guy who gets possessed, Weaver, ah... and that one guy who shuts down the Ghostbusters (the one with the beard, I think he was in Die Hard)? That or they're putting together some minis not directly related to Ghostbusters from another series, but which can fit in with the Paranormal Investigators theme. Something like the X Files maybe?

What the feth?

Looking at the cartoon series does make me ponder that despite growing up in the 90s, I did seem to watch a lot of 80s Tv for some reason. Bloody skinflint BBC. Come to think of it though nowadays I don't see many of those old shows being broadcast. The poor kids now have to watch small furry creatures who only speak in gibberish and bright colours instead. ...And one of them isn't even transgendered. =(

The September News Letter is out now.

Beyond what's been posted in this thread there's some more Department X minis coming out and a new 7th Voyage supplement (eugh, my pile of Crooked Dice books is becoming a bit of a hassle to tote about).

The X Factor returns
More Department X from Ernst Veingart and coming in October! We bring your four more troopers to bolster
the ranks (pictured above as painted and photographed by Kev Dallimore).

In November, Ernst will also be bringing us five Chronal Commandoes - futuristic armoured warriors fighting an
eternal war across time.

Ooh, I wonder if these will be based on the Time Lord soldiers from Doctor Who, or just another well known franchise (yeah, Chronal Commandos is probably a reference, but screw me for not being born in the 70s ).

7th Voyage: Once and Future
Our next 7th Voyage supplement covering the myths of King Arthur, Robin Hood and Beowulf is nearly
ready. With just soem photos to be taken at the end of the month, we'd hope it will hit shelves in next month.

It's available in the usual PDF and print formats - and will have a deck

Oh feth yeah. I reason to buy one of the new Perry Men at Arms kits!

Get ahead
This month: 2 for 1 on Hard Hats and Police Helmets. Just buy half the amount you need, and we’ll send you twice as many

Finished the last of the edits on our next 7th Voyage supplement - Once & Future written by Helena Nash. I'm off to Kev's at the weekend for a photo session and then it's all done. It will be available in PDF in a week or so and then in print later in October. Here's a cover preview.

Yep. Popping into this thread again, saying to myself 'must get in on some of this', then leaving and forgetting all about it...

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Heh, its now the only game I play consistently, so I feel I have a stake in it. Given the ruleset's ability to be adopted by various settings (notably the post-apocalyptic ones) I've sort of lost interest in other games barring where other guys at my clubs are running things. Of course it also helps that there's less rules to have to keep up to date with that way, which is even better when you're a GM and you can just make crap up when things aren't working smoothly (in 40K players will start arguments with you over rules, with the 7Tv ruleset, well one people shouldn't be hyper competitive, and two, the rules aren't full proof to begin with, so making up crap to suit the situation is simple enough).

Anyway, back to never getting around to properly putting together my own supplement thingy. =P

Somewhere in south-central England.

7TV is designed to be a fun, easy play skirmish ruleset and does very well at that. The base concept is the kind of narrative playing style that 40K professes and totally fails to provide.

Yeah, try playing 7Tv against someone who has that attitude. I have...

In a game where you can easily shove in a killer death ray into a cast for the same ratings as two guys with pistols, I'm confused why that system doesn't just put WAAC players off. Then again 40k allows you to do pretty much the same thing. If you want to play 7Tv then you're faced with dealing with putting together a cast which is handicapped based on the narrative.

Heh, but go on and try and play a game where both sides are armed to the teeth. My average game runs for hours. A game involving military casts and little to no narrative beyond "kill kill, attack attack!"? Uh, I think they wound up being two or three turns at the most. =P

Nah, how about one side has all the guns and they other baseball bats and saucepans?
