richred_uk no need to apologise.. Scale75, we are still working on that range and what does and doesn't sell with us so the stock levels for the show were probably not right.

We always worry about the queues, our aim is to have little or no queue all day, however even though we implemented a full epos system which meant our tills were much much faster than before we still had long queues at some point. That is a negative for us, as queues put people off spending, and customers wanting to be looking at stuff not waiting in line. I did try and get some of the staff singing and dancing for you all though. More Tills next year I think. Salute is an exceptional day for all concern, this industry is not made up of large conventions with such numbers therefore its a massive challenge for all traders. I think though it has come on leaps and bounds in the time we have been attending. However its a niche industry, and if you come expecting the same level of polish as you would for other larger shows in other industries you will be let down. But that is part of the charm.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Just been reading some threads on TMP - my god there are some miserable gits out there... Whinging about the queue to get in (they want to try a 3 hour queue for a 2minute rollercoaster or a 6 month wait for surgery)

I thought the queue system was a good idea the Q-buster took 10 mins max from back of queue to in the door, so there's the answer... pre-purchase your ticket and save £1.00!!

Back to show, I forgot to mention the Mierce - amazing models, and I couldn't believe how light they are for the size, no wonder people stick pieces of slate to the bases !

The giant Dropzone ship was pretty cool, still WIP from the looks of it though. My favourite table by far was the giant D-Day game - that was simply inspiring.

Some blogs for you all with more photos...

Oh and I forgot, but on the Zinge stand they had the Tauros but with 6 wheels instead of the tracks and it looked 100% better. I haven't seen a pic of it yet but take my word for it that it's a vast improvement

Interesting that you mention lack of discounts and then touch on Crusade of Fire. If your friend had checked the website he would have seen that it was our Deal of the Day on the website for the weekend. Its one product that would be a different price out of about 7000 different products we selected to take to the show. You might also have noticed the promotions mention in this thread and there were others on the day including the Warmachine and Hordes offers. That was just Wayland, lots of others stores had special deals and offers. However, Salute is expensive for companies to attend, not just that they have to pay for trader space but the amount of effort required for even a small stand is a lot. If the traders then started to suicide discount to the point that they didn't make a profit from the show, then next year they wouldn't attend and visitors would complain that traders didn't bother attending.

In the brief moments I had to wander around, I though the trade stands and demo games were all busy and the public seemed happy at the show.

It's Wayland not Weyland btw.

You seem a little touchy. You'll notice that I didn't just mention WAyland. On the Crusade of Fire, would it have been that hard to make the offer available on the day too? Sorry but I didn't have time to go through your other 7000 products to check your prices against them before posting. For wha my friends and I were interested in buying we didn't find any appealing discounts (can't speak for others into different game systems though). If you think it good practice to attempt to patronise a previous and potential future customer then that's fine - there are plenty of other discounters I can and will use. You also completely ignored the positives I wrote - I didn't say anyone was unhappy.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Why don't you guys take it to PM?

Cheers for posting those links to the pics Ruglud, realised how much I missed! Loved the new Gripping Beast stuff, their Crusades game looked great and the Gladiator combat game Jugula looked like tremendous fun. If it's anything like as well designed as SAGA should be a blast.

I arrived just before 11 and walked straight in. Friend of mine who was working on a stall said that the queue was pretty big (they had had to open another section of the hall to accommodate), but that quite a few people just went racing straight to a particular stall. I suppose that's the thing, if you know you want a particular item and it's going to sell out, then obviously you need to get there early and queue - otherwise, you are better off just turning up half an hour later and strolling right in.

Yeah I'm with you Pacific, let's not turn this thread into a moan fest. It's an amazingly difficult event for the traders -organising for the event must be crazy. I briefly visited Wayland and thought the 'stall' was excellent. Can't imagine the logistics behind it for a small 'niche' company.

My hat off to all the traders in fact, they make for a great atmosphere and my kids appreciated all the sweets

As for the Warlords - well done guys (and gals). I had a great day and looking forward to next year. Roll on 2015

I had really hoped to get down to Salute this year - but commitments dictated otherwise. The posts and pictures put up have only heightened my disappointment at not making it, but also increased my resolve to attend next year.

Quick question for anybody in the know - when do the advance tickets normally go up for sale for Salute? (Just want to mark it my diary so I know when to start looking.)

Logistics aside, he's perfectly correct to point out that responding to a previous and potentially future customer's perfectly valid feedback as if they're a petulant kiddy that needs to be put in their place isn't on. And for the record, nor is describing a post that contained a balanced appraisal with positive and negative feedback as a "moan fest".

Smaller companies get a certain amount of leeway because everyone acknowledges they have a difficult job, but they shouldn't expect to be immune to criticism, and people should not unthinkingly leap to put down anyone who dares to do so.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

RiTides - Here we go, a few more pics of the DZC stuff. As I said thought their's was one of the most impressive displays of the show, they had really made an effort (and had a lot of floor space!)

For some reason I didn't get a pic of the Resistance drop-ship which looked awesome, and had more than a hint of 'Firefly' about it!

This massive WIP mothership

Close-up, all of the little drop ships on the side of it

Selection of the Resistance tanks and vehicles. Wonderful detail, bear in mind that a lot of these are tiny, just 2-3cm long.

Not sure when they go on sale, but they're available until a couple of weeks before the show (to allow for posting time). I purchased mine on 4th April but they had been available before that...

Essex , U.K.

My first year at salute this year and it was awesome .

Great day out , shed loads to see , spent too much but hey ho

WE actually got a little lost on route so our intended 10 am arrival actually turned into 11am but that was great , we had pre paid tickets and literally walked straight in , still got goody bags as well !

Free mini is very nice and free dice was also a nice touch.

It is literally the who's who of sellers and creators and casters and rule makers from the gaming industry as well as an oppertunity so see some of the legends like the perry twins.

All in all we had a great time and if youve never been to salute .... then get ya arse there next year !

Cheers warlords

Think that is a point I would like to repeat!

Some more pics. Did anyone get any good photos of that mental large-scale Lord of the Rings game? Also, was there anything of interest on the Mantic stand? (Only found it when they were tidying up).

Some kind of zombie game by 7TV, looked like a lot of fun

15 and 20mm WW2 seemed very popular for different clubs, this was one example of many. The level of detail on a lot of them was awesome.

This was in the Weyland area, terrain by Bandau Games for Infinity (and the colours were really that vivid)

A new modern-era (Afghanistan-based) game called Skirmish in Sangrin, this was the table for it - again looked like a very interesting ruleset, listening to the guy who wrote the rules it sounds like they've made a lot of effort to give the game the 'feel', and statistically accurate, feel of combat between coalition forces and insurgents in the middle-east.

This was 28mm Roman invasion of GB, I think Hail Caesar.

These buildings are actually a promo setup for a new range of fantasy buildings from 4Ground. I think they said it was going to be called Mordenhelm (or something very Mordheim like ). These were the first builds ready and form part of the slum/dockside area that will be accompanied by shanty town buildings and a big L shaped tavern. There will also be the posh area featuring manor houses etc. Really nice looking models

Prodos games, I can't remember when they said that they will be releasing them (they are starting off with a boardgame IIRC) but it will be a few months as they only have the masters at the moment and their kickstarter ended a couple of months ago.
