Here's a badger on a new, shiny base (I didn't like the ones that came with the kit):
The bases are from GW but there's more info (including some Exo/Sentinel conversions) over at Inso's World:

Just wait until the riders are made (I'm thinking the Squat equivalent of Catachan Jungle Fighters... but with more sunglasses and explosive lances ).

In a further, some might say heretical move, I have decided to add a unit of wyrdvane psykers to my Squat army so what better way to do it than to recycle something from yesteryear?
As a result, I had a sudden burst of inspiration and decided that Hrud would be cool additions to the army and I had something in mind so I went into my cupboard and pulled these out:
My frog-people! Now I know that the general thoughts on Hrud are that they were place-holders for space-rats but the picture in the Rogue Trader rule book didn't show a face, just a cloaked figure with a rat's tail... so that is what I have made . I may add some pouches to them at some point but they are finished apart from that.
I hope you like them

The badgers are from here:

... but if you click the link below the badger pic, it takes you to my Blog which has all the links for all of the miniatures that I post (unless it is EBay or not available to buy) .

I love your work. Collecting a squat army is also a passion of mine and I may borrow a few ideas. I mostly have metal ones so far but with the market riding high I will have to move to plastic if I want another platoon. I always thought they didn't really look right but you've totally addressed that with your GS work here.

The plastic arms always looked 'odd' to me... and the long lasguns too.
It was a shame that there wasn't more variety with heads but I guess that for a 30 year old kit, beggars can't be choosers and a few sculpted beards soon puts things right

No mushrooms... just the start of a badger rider:
As is usual, there is more information on my blog and this week, it has a guide to making my frog faces, the rough rider WIP and some finished Sentinels:

The mushroom is one I sculpted... he's bigger than an Ogryn (he's on a 60mm base).
If you are curious why he's appeared... here's a little film:

Having started wargaming back around 2001, I have no experience of 'The Squats' (to be honest, I thought it was kind of an internet running joke- I guess I was half right :-P) but this blog is rapidly becoming my favourite P&M blog.
Your sculpting really is incredible; I can't imagine the time it must've taken to sculpt arms on the entire platoon! And to such a high standard.
I love where you're going with the giant badgers (surely GW would dub them 'Doom Badgers', if they released them now).
One thing that I suspect I'm not alone in demanding though:
Get some paint on the little blighters! I really can't wait to see a finished squad.
Keep up the good work!

Cheers . You'll like what is happening with the badger-riders... I think they are going to be quite characterful. I am converting them one at a time so that I can make them individuals.
I am a victim of my muses, I'm afraid. At the moment, my sculpting muse is holding sway but I think she is getting tired... so there may be some painting fairly soon BUT I really want to get the second platoon finished before I start painting.

Thank you (delightful is fine by me ).
He's finished apart from the base and lance-head (I'll do all the lances at the same time, once I have them assembled):
I've also got hold of some Mantic Dreadball Orx and have been thinking of what to do with them... I thought Bullgryn so I mocked this up:
I reckon they have potential.

This is something I have been working on as a commission and seeing as it is definitely Squat related, I thought I'd share it here :

Relay station for controlling aerial drones:
I've already packed them off to their new home so I hope he's happy with them .

I won't be painting these because I have already sent them off to their new owner. I have written a blog post all about it here:

It is nice to actually finish a commission (rather than being rubbish).

I have decided to start working on the 'blockers' now.
I have finished the first platoon and the command squad for the second platoon but have stalled with the infantry because I need to sort out the gunners/loaders for the heavy weapons and I can't decide on how to model the loaders (hence they are blocking my progress). I know how the gunners will look so I have started on those now... but I have really got my thinking cap on for the ammunition boxes to go with the loaders (it will be for missiles).
Here's an example of the weapon tractor (the little missile launcher one - linked from the Anvil Industries site):
I don't know whether to have boxes for four, individual tubes or have them in pairs... I'll get there eventually

The little bits of greenstuffing you're doing on these guys add a ton of character to models already bursting with it. Also those badger riders are great! Lovely work.

Changing direction again (I'm very fickle)... while I was converting some gunners for my heavy weapon tractors (2nd platoon - and they are all done, waiting to dry ), I decided that I couldn't wait any longer so I started putting together a Bullgryn that is made from a Mantic Dreadball Orx model... here is the first test ( WIP) with a Hasslefree human and an older version of a GW Ogryn:
