No pal, not that one

Dammit... things seem to never go as planned =(

Here is a poor pic of that alternative backpack/shoulder cannon... That should be a golem-like part stone, part tech snake-shaped tail with an energy generator and able to fire some kind of plasma or whatever.
Still need some extra detailing imo but the basic shape is ready.

What d'you think guys?

I actually think it is very inventive mate very unique, I like the way you have managed to give it a serpent look but retain a mechanical feel at the same time.

The only thing I would say is it needs bulking out at the sides of the actual power pack, maybe some kind of mini serpents done as cables could work

thx LDD, actually I wanted to make an opposite to the totem backpack in every way - light, non SM etc. So people may use this character free of any 40k reference. The totem already is bulky as hell so why do so with this?

Oh, cool sculpts, mate! The IG heads look really great. They're the best candidates I've found to far to use as Space marine scouts head alternatives (I have no love for those standard mongol schwarzenegger heads).

Unless you've got some more cool helmeted/masked sci-fi heads in the pipeline?

Thx mate! We do have some other heads in that scale, but they are either more hight-tech (tau-like) or heavily themed (conquistador).

Guys, I've finally finished the next turtle! Sending it to the workshop today.

Here is the pic:

No blades or scabbards on the picture 'coz I made one of each for molding. And yeah, it's Leo =) Mikey soon follow

Cheers!

Sorry for not being clear I meant that we have several heads sculpted but not yet released for various reasons. Mostly because we want them to be parts of some larger sets like with synapse bits.

I see your point just thought snake style cables would have worked well with the design, but it's good to offer an alternative design to what's all readily available.

Yes I would also love to see those heads in the store some time soon LOL

Leo looks awesome mate you seemed to capture the action poses well, although these are not my thing you have done a great job with them.

Will be placing an order next week for some of those heads, should have the funds available then

As I said on the the other related thread looks amazing it has a great theme running through it, I love the way you have managed to aztec all the armour without making it look overbearing or silly.

It has been a pleasure to follow this for the 2 years hopefully some of the other projects will see the light of day soon

checking in to assure that my recent absence have no connection to the vast awesomeness this thread presents!

mate... I love mikey´s pose..."come and get some..."...classy!
leo looks awesome too...hopefully you soon show us a bladed version
what I would love to see is all turtles in a shot one of these days in a charlies angle kind of pose...would make a great poster scene...
speaking of... the Aztec marine is absolutely breathtaking...and the presentation pic IS poster quality... this model would look amazing even in a rather monochrome scheme...

even tho I am on vacation I will still be present as I will be on dakka purely via my phone then... so i´ll be in touch mate!

Dam Storag these are starting to get tempting brings back my childhood although these are based on the modern version, for this reason I am resisting if they had been based on the original toon versions they would be sitting on my desk now.

However they are looking spot on and the posing is accurate NO NO NO NO NO I CANT !!!!!!!!

well, i can...
i am really looking forward to painting up some Turtles...
the only incarnation i enjoyed of them was in the original black and white comics (i still have my books), but i loved them before any of the silliness came in...
these take me right back to that time...

good work!!!

cheers

@ LDD
Thanks Roy! ) I share all the soft feelings about the old cartoon, but critically thinking those new versions are way more advanced in terms of quality design. So my choice in this case is to learn from the best. This modern pseudo low-poly 3D art we see in animation and games is really close to my aesthetic views and I wish to develop my sculpting style so I can capture what I like about it in a miniature.

@ jah
Glad to hear that, hope that means I succeeded in mixing the old-school feel with cool elements from the new show. And welcome to da thread!

@ WP
I finally got myself an oven and some FIMO Puppen baking clay... it's AWESOME! Work on Raph is moving much faster then I could ever do with epoxy putty. Just the head and some garment parts left.

Storag, i think it is the simplicity of the design, and the chunky details, that take me back to those original Eastman drawings...
the biggest difference is that your sculpts are more angular, but i like that...
plus, i try to paint my minis to look like they just stepped out of a comic book, so these are totally my style...

keep up the good work...

cheers

Yeah, thats how I feel about painting minis too. Not a fan of hyper realism.
I'd really love to see them painted by you

Ish made a pic to clarify the mutants scale:

As a related note: When scaling those guys, I wanted to underline their teen nature. Just remember, they are barely fifteen! The tallest one is 178 cm tall, so I had to make them considerably smaller than average "28mm" mini, both to honor the scale and to have a room for further grown up and mutated characters, that would eventually end up being giants if I've chosen to make "teens" the size of a Space Marine...

seeing this pose now confirms my thoughts on the said pose

and I like it... I bet the tiny detail that´s still missing is the sai pointed tips then, eh?

he will be a great centre piece then...by the way... are the four of them all the same height? iirc they vary slightly in the series?
