The reverend healer looks pretty nice! Says she is 33 points and 0swc, she's considered ... a heavy infantry? Weird, she's got the lower 4-2 movement and only 1 wound. She's got mimetism, doctor, religious, a combirifle, explosive ccw, whatever this new breaker pistol is, and even a nanopulser, ouch watch out... basically everything! Oh and a pretty high cc stat, seems like a nice all-rounder especially if she can link with moiras.

On the topic of the UFK, I'm making it a personal mission to dig through all of my bones 2 stuff to create a second uberfallkommando team, i'm thinking i'll have to rely heavily on gnolls, but there may be some shark people or similar... maybe I could even use the shark guy from deadzone....

Heh, here's a quick try at an observance force for 300, avicenna+1pt is a stand in for the reverend healer:

JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF BAKUNIN

I don't know that this would be my first list via what I own, it would require the moira link box, salyuts, and regular zond boxes. It gets the theme across, with lots of remotes (which I love) and the rest of the list as observance. The remotes would probably have to skirmish a bit to try to keep things at bay so the range-preferring moiras and sin eater can plug away from a distance.

This has me wondering... I wonder if I left the... nah. I was going to wonder about using my Sputniks as salyut zonds with a bit of conversion work and magnets... but the salyuts are too neat, they have little faces and the EVO unit has ginormous bunny ears!

Adorable mechanical beasts of burden!

Be careful with those Nomad remotes. They are very "Fiddly" according to pretty much everyone. Do NOT throw out anything from the box until the remotes are fully assembled. Not kidding.

About the Winter Vixen Chimera, someone on the official forum did a chimera cosplay. Here ya go... http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/19003-chimera-cosplay/

A most excellent coplay IMHO.

Huh, that's neat... though... eesh, that's an expensive outfit!

The lunokhod is together fine, though I left off one of the antennae for the sake of playability. I kept it around, may add it back on later if i feel the need. I've been through a reasonable amount of metal minis in the past, usually get by without pinning too, so I'm not terribly worried about anything. Thanks for the caution though, I'm sure someone weaned on plastic kits like we have today might have a lot of trouble sometimes

I have seen the ''is it flash, or an important detail'' on several models so far. I think bran do castro is a bit tricky like that, and maybe the mushashi model but I haven't liberated him yet.

I did nail and prime two more moderators and the MK12 sineater, as well as 'Helga', who is a dreadball/misc kitbash of the Anne Marie Helder mvp. I've got to do the diorama first though.

Geez, sounds like you've been busy lately. I've been following the plog at work, but since I can't post there, I wind up missing my chance to comment on the conversations.

I'm rather glad I'm not the only one that likes the Chimera. I'd kind of like to get just that figure from the set. Forget the catgirl Daktari, I'd rather have the cool looking fox girl. A bootleg version of her would be a good excuse to buy one without having to get the Uberfallkommandos.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who's had thoughts of converting the Riot Grrls into the Knight Sabers.

The knight saber grrls needs to happen, no conversion necessary, i figured it would be a long shot until I really looked closely at them, and they should work for it out of the box with the right paint.

Chimera is awesome, i do want to fashion my own for the fun/challenge of it, but I'm totally buying the stock one as well. I do like her pupniks though so I won't mind having them too.

I wish they did a whole mess of the Chimera. They're one of the most interesting things to me about the Nomad faction, the reckless and wild biological modifications. Sure the occaisional bunny ears or whatever are neat, but nothing beats the over the top crazyness of the Chimera and the Pupniks.

Well, still got some body work to do on the Tardis, and I've still got 5 more minis to paint for the diorama... But after that I'm planning on hitting up some infinity and maybe some deadzone.

Here's what I'm tentatively planning on doing next:

Helga, Wrath, Triana, and Dean.

Helga is just someone fun to paint, I'm not sure about colors yet... not pink, she's a serious merc. Maybe... I dunno red, with kind of orange-red highlights? The helfather is going to be colorized similar to my forge fathers, so that kind of red will be otherwise untouched for the near future.

Wrath I plan to paint with a white coat, maybe red-orange on the inside to match the Moira. The rest of his gear will match my other nomads.. err well.. my moderator. Dark grey slacks, the shoes probably won't be flamboyant like Hank's (previously he was called Dean, but the color of his hair is hank-worthy) but more like the moira's. I'll probably paint armored bits white still, and the off-color will be blue.

Dean (who will be receiving brown hair instead of sharky blue as the stock moderator) and Triana (who will get black-purple hair and a black patch somewhere with a skull and bones on it) will be painted otherwise like Hank. Not sure what to do with Dean, but I'll think of something.

I may also do some more marauders sometime, I've got 8 of them ready and in stages of progress, a lot of them are red.

I don't understand any of that Infinity stuff, (though a lot of them look nice) and I'm too lazy and surly to become a regular at the not-so-F, LGS to learn/be taught it, since my time is at a premium anyway. Having said that, if there's limited edition stuff you're even slightly interested in, then go for that. You'll be able to sell it off later for what you paid for it, if need be - and that way you avoid the "I shoulda.. " regrets.

Yep, gonna get it. I'll probably hold on to the limited edition box mini to see if value rises. If they never ever make another one.. It probably will. Might do the same with the cosplay bolt.

The panoceana starter will be trickier, it might have a higher value initially (like for a couple of weeks after gencon) and then peter out as the preorders arrive. And then it's becoming a normal item minus the father knight. He may be worth mo monez, but I think when/if they make another run of icestorm, he'll still be in it.

Hell who knows, by the time I get all of the shinies, I may not be able to readily give up the Pan-O guys. All it would take to finish the force would be a tag and another dude. If people wanna get me x-mas/birthday stuff they can get those Bakunin things I want, and failing that... there's always tax time potentially

So the diorama is almost half done, just sealed the last model for the second panel. Still gotta do the windows and the wooshy light on the top, paint a total of 5 more figures.

Family visit going on next weekend, gonna try to finish this up asap. Then hmm... Maybe Helga.

Damn you Grimdork and your posting Infinity pics....I have had the Nomad starter box you have sitting on the shelf looking at me for ages now and your have forced me to open it and get distracted from my real goal again.

As a game I really like infinity, although I can see how it can become a little stagnant as everyone sits around waiting to trigger their arrows.

Love the Nomad look though, I am definitely in the camp of liking the manga aesthetic.

Yeah, manga aesthetic isn't bad. Looks like the newest models are trending towards somewhat smaller weapons though, which I approve of highly.

Seems to me like Infinity would be pretty tense, every time someone moves both players are frantically scanning fire lines to make sure they're out of line of sight, or that they aren't missing any AROs. And it sounds really brutal too.

I've got three of those minis up on the block, as soon as this Dr Who madness is out of the way... we'll see what I can do with them.

I haven't gotten much done this week, work has been kicking my butt. I did put together one of my iron ancestors the day before yesterday:

I think he's a reasonable approximation of the dreadnought, he should be shorter since he's a dwarf unit! A lot less bulky/massive, but still pretty solid.

I didn't glue the arms, or magnetize them. I think I'm going to secure them with small blobs of blue tack, though the metal gun arm may require a magnet. The bluetack is actually a bit more versatile for posing than magnets and you don't see it if used properly. The hammer head is magnetized though, I figure I can fit a drill head there someday, and maybe a different gun or even a hand eventually.

New League of Extraordinary Riveters competition up, I had to back out of the last one, we'll see about this new one.

Still working to finish diorama then back to painting random minis until I have to work on the next dio. Then no more 'ramas unless I just get the mood.

Here's another theoretical project...

Azazelx did some interesting adobe style desert ish buildings, you can see them on his blog. I've kind of become inspired and have half a mind to do a 2x2' deadzone (or possibly mars attacks) board with similar buildings. I'd mix in deadzone tiles but only sparingly. Basically I'd use my 1/2" hardware cloth covered with plaster cloth, coated with hydrocal/putty/whatevs. I figure the wire grid, when plied with the right tools, will give me a better shape without embarrassing myself on foam core again.

For the 2x2 board, it wouldn't take a whole lot of buildings really. Maybe a perimeter fence with a gate and a couple of broken sections of varying size. Probably use the hardware cloth walkways I've shown previously.

All this with a bit of tech built in, like keypads on the adobe looking structures, satellite dishes, and the ever present corporate ads.

Hell it could even double as a Bourak terrain board for when my Qapu Khalqi are playing the home field.

Maybe? Someday?

So I'm trying really hard to reorganize my hobby space to include a smaller area for my daughter. She's too little for hobby stuff for the most part, but my thinking is that if I get her a little block/play-dough table in view of a TV... we can hang out like we do in the livingroom, but I'll have access to my hobby stuff.

I've also got one weekend, 10 days, and not even really 10 days due to GenCon to get my Dr Who diorama finished. mostly just finishing touches and painting 5 more minis.

This could end disastrously, but I think I'm going to group my various hobby paraphernalia into like groups and box them up and shelf them, clearly labeling what goes in each box. Otherwise... I'll never clear my space quickly enough to redo the room and try to nab some bonus hobby time in which to finish the Dio/Rama.

ROUND ONE... FIGHT!

Ahhh.. memories of Street Fighter II.

I'm keen to see what you do with a small desert board. Might even get me keen to make some more stuff for my own. Though I've got to get back to that Tank Graveyard soonish. If only building those tank models wasn't so tedious...

Your plans for your daughter sound cool. She could also do Lego if she's interested in that, and eventually graduate onto some Reaper Bones models. I support your plans to organise, and thoroughly recommend various types of clear plastic tubs and a label-maker. Much better than the Cardboard Boxes I'm still moving my stuff out of when you go to look for and find something or other.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about it too. Kind of looking forward to making something permanent without building flexibility into it. We'll... I was thinking maybe 4 sections that could rotate to change the disposition, but more or less that would be it.

I got the toddlertainment center 'good enough' to get working this weekend, just the TV and a small table. I'm gonna sort my least desirable bones minis, men at arms, d maybe older 40k stuff into a toddler box and once she's maybe 3 or so I'll just let her snag whatever she likes and paint with me. We'll see how it works.

"Thinking of Who" delivered. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/609716.page

So now I can work on whatever for awhile.

In addition to random models, I'm going to start another diorama with ninjas and samurai and combine it with the prototype of my desert outpost board. I was going to put them in the city, but I figure the ninjas will be following the samurai and there's no reason he couldn't have taken a contract to fight near this outpost. So I'll get to put some effort down on that project, and scout out methods for my new board.

And don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against battlezone tiles, I'm gonna use them all eventually, I'm just unreasonably excited about this desert theme for some reason.

Also, I'll be attending GenCon this week! I know, I know, I won't shut up about it, but whatever, I'm excited.

The benefit for you guys will be lots and lots of pictures, as many as I'm allowed to take, and a couple of unboxings -- potentially some of the first for those things. Supposedly I can pick up my Mars Attacks basic game box there, and I'll be getting the Infinity Operation: Icestorm unless I wimp out at the end. So expect some pictures of that stuff as early as friday night.

If there are any tables you guys would like me to stop by in an information gathering capacity, do let me know! I'll be heading to the Mantic, Corvus Belli, and Reaper tables for sure. Or is it stalls? I know Mantic will be showing off the latest deadzone stuff and probably the masters of the models for their new Dungeon Sagas game on kickstarter, but I'm sure there are booths for things I'm not even aware of doing the same.

Anyway, I hope to have a bit more content flowing this way soon, thanks for watching.

Ok enough of that lame diorama stuff, I'll put the choicest snaps from the WiP and finished shots here, but I probably will leave the majority of the WiP and stuff in the other thread. But don't worry, I've totally got cool stuff for here too. Whenever I paint a random model from my queue, boom.

And since I just got through skimming the deadzone: contagion supplement, I'm dying (pun intentional, hand basket ready, pun hell bound) to try the new solo zombie survival campaign for deadzone. Basically you start with the same 140 or so points of units (double the size of a normal game's team) like you do in a campaign... but that's it. You get no reinforcements, and injuries that are survived only have a moderate chance of being repaired. Experience can be gained but there are only four missions. The first two missions take a smaller team, then a normal sized team, out to complete an objective; you have to repeat the mission until you get wiped out or clear it. The third and fourth missions are all or nothing, you bring your entire remaining strike team along to both.

And the zombies look intense, they aren't much to look at individually... but there are spawn points and instead of having their own turn... the zombies react to *everything* the player does. You move? All zombies with LoS move towards you. You shoot? All zombies within 3 cubes move towards you. You end your turn? Solid chances zombies move towards you once anyway, and spawn points build up dice that increase the chances that new zombies will arrive from off-board.

I'm looking forward to getting wrecked and putting up a battle report My enforcers aren't really kitted out for this, I think list building will be pretty crucial to winning the campaign (goal: at least one model makes it to the evac site on the fourth mission, score is considered as the number of points you get evacuated). Anyhoo, I may just do the first one, get a feel for it. I'll be using my enforcers obviously, and the zcorp marines and strain will be filling in for my zombies.

Not the set up, just getting my bits in order.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the solo rules, I really want those when they're available for retail. Do you need a deck for the Zombies, or is it all in the book how they act?

Made in us
Near Golden Daemon Caliber

Illinois

The zombie rules are called 'Artificial Stupidity', and they're just a page or so in the zombie section of the book, no cards are necessary.

Basically, the zombies just react to everything you do, and at the end of each turn within a round, there's a chance they do something on their own. The same mechanic applies to using zombies in a normal pitched battle as the solo campaign, the campaign just adds the missions to try to survive.

I'm getting pretty pumped for my second shipment, and battle systems, though I haven't gotten a shipping notice on either =/

I like zombies as an implacable force of nature to be survived, which is just what they'll be in this case. I have a feeling the first try at this is going to end pretty nastily, the zombies will be moving several more times a round than a standard opponent.

Ok so I took pictures but I don't have time to post them, gotta sleep since I've got to work and drive a bunch tomorrow...

Played the first round of the zombie survival solo campaign in the new Deadzone:contagion book. I'm not 100% on all of the zombie moving and all of that, I totally survived with most of my dudes so I may have been interpreting the rules too favorably, or maybe I just had good terrain and got the gist quickly. Some highlights before bed:

Depending on LoS blocking features and terrain... zombies move freaking fast! Every time you move if they can see you they move towards you. If you shoot, within 3 cubes they move towards you (which is like half the board when you think about it). I had one or two zombies move maybe 4 times in that first turn and they only start 4-5 cubes away, scary fast. And don't think you can get by on overwatch and command actions and stuff...anything that activates your model but doesn't trigger one of the above responses means you add a dice to the roll for the zombies to move at the end of your turn (within the round)

I dunno I may have done some things wrong, I'm thinking now that I should have rolled an extra time for zombie moves at the end of the round after the last turn, meaning two zombie mini turns in a row. The second roll would have been on 3 dice so it wouldn't have mattered much, but maybe enough to throw me off. I also assumed that if you moved but didn't end in such a way as to trigger zombie movement, it didn't also trigger the added dice to the move-at-end-of-turn pool, which may have been the intention.

I don't care about normal games, an enraged enforcer sergeant is totally fine for curbstomping zombies. I think he could actually consider starting a fight chain. I need to bring an assault enforcer to the next game for sure!

Blaze away with an enforcer rifle is entirely superior to shooting the way zombies are written, you get as many or more kills and can cleave multiple zombies in the same cube (and use your actions to draw the mindless things into such a situation!).

Exploding dice are fun, but very chaotic. Attacks that should succeed can fail, and even a slight chance can prove to be a heroic effort. I had the chance to take an extra fight for a normal enforcer with 4 dice (buddy in cube) against a single zombie, I could have opted to not use the action at all. I chose to fight and got one success out of 4 (going for 6's) but the zombie rolled a 7 and two 8's, which became 5 total successes! Not even the enforcer's armor could save him after that! Then the zombie used its own free fight and flubbed it's roll only to get clobbered in the exact same manner by the Sarge.

Anyway.... zombies move quick and clubbing down one or two isn't a huge deal, but once you get 3 or so in the cube with you you're done. I'll have to put up some queries on Jake's blog to see how some of this stuff is meant to work as it's a bit confusing at first glance.
