Now that is one awesome rogue trader.

Any more crew planned? Multi-armed Vishnu-esque servitor perhaps?

The lynx is from a very old wood elf beast.

I'm planning on her accompanying Hawksmoor, my inquisitor, but I'll probably make a Warp Diver to accompany her at least, basically a pirate in a void suit. No vishnu though.

Woooow mate! You're conversions have really come up to a whole new level. Hawksmore and the rogue trader are incredible.
Even though it sounds awfully arrogant to follow up with that, Hawksmore reminds me a lot of the work I've done on my ogryn miner. Since that is still my favorite own conversions it says a lot about how much I like Hawksmore.

Thanks Baiyuan, that means a lot coming from you. Your ogryn miner is still one of the best conversions I know of, and although it easily surpasses Hawksmoor in terms of complexity they do have some resemblance - I think there is a three-dimensionality to the pair of them that is quite unique to models holding a weapon two-handed and covered in wires and gubbins. I'm always disappointed with 'flat' models.

The Warp Diver sounds pretty interesting.

Certainly would need to be a hardy fellow to put up with the nightmare visions pressing in against the Gellar field.

Presumably they walk the surface of the ship?

Looks like you are having fun. I'm excited to see her painted up in your style.
I liked the story behind her pardon. 12,000 heads...good times...

I want to try the Blanchian type technique you have sometime, but I'm afraid it would just look like I had forgotten to wipe between the WC and my painting table...

There is a bit of info about warp divers in the Dread Nautilus post on my site, I want to do a cross between a deep sea diver and harpoonist, but we'll see.

Moonpie - I don't think I really have a technique like John Blanche, except maybe that neither of us paint inside the lines all the time or do things like edge highlighting. I tend to paint every model a different way just because I like to experiment and I get bored painting quite easily. I don't think I am a great painter though, it's the thing I enjoy the least about the hobby.

For example Adon the pitfighter was painted with airbrush/oil wash and weathering, while the ghoul king was painted by repeatedly wiping the paint off with cloth and water (I had an idea of simulating water damage or something). I just don't like neatness, it doesn't look realistic to me.

Thank you, and I agree. It's about appearing more corporal than some other models.
I like the diver idea. It's a pity I never quite finished mine, but maybe you can find something in it you like. Sorry for the blurry pic, it was just a teaser back then.
Spoiler:

I wanted him to be juggernaughty mancatcher with the visuals of a diver.

Hey! Just stumbled on this and i absolutely LOVE your stuff! Your pieces have a ton of personality which is great.

Sorry if i missed it but i was wondering how you pulled off the dead flesh look of your admech giests or the mordheim undead warband. I would love a tutorial!

Subbed and looking forward to more!

I've had this model built for a year or more, with some modifications now and then. I can't decide if it is worth finishing, but seeing as I mentioned the Warp Diver I thought I'd put up some blu-tack WIP images. I was thinking of magnetising the harpoons so they can rotate, I'm not sure.

My main reservation is that a Warp Diver doesn't seem like a particularly worthwhile addition to Hawksmoor's retinue, he's quite senior and is more likely to have people like planetary governors, generals rather than just a random member of the Rogue Trader's crew. When I first built this model it was going to be a void suit wearing Inquisitor (a homage to this miniature: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tThepQ1Syh0/VBUiL3Z-yiI/AAAAAAAABKk/c_uVPwtIZ_E/s1600/20140911_220857-1.jpg - on the left). But now it would be a pirate crew member of the Dread Nautilus tasked with firing the kinetic harpoons that tether victim ships to the warp.

Anyway, that's the situation, I'm not sure I will get around to doing more work on him any time soon, but seeing as he was under discussion. It would need quite a bit more work to reduce the obvious Tau and Space Marine elements.

Quite different from your idea Baiyuan, I remember discussing that model when I made my pitslave retiarius, a really long time ago!

Honestly I don't remember, I pretty much just grab any paints at hand. The mordheim stuff probably involved a base of rakarth flesh/deneb stone though as that is my favourite skin tone. The geists were airbrushed and I don't know the names of the paints, but it would be vallejo grey up to white and some thin washes and glazes - they have my favourite skin tone I have done but I can't replicate it on anything smaller as it needs the airbrush and I don't have enough precision with it.

I actually like him a lot.

With the position of the arms it looks like there wouldn't be enough for a head in it's regular place. Perhaps this one is permanently sealed into his suit or mutilated/augmented in some way?

You could add bars across the main visor, perhaps horizontally, like the Big Daddy suit from Bioshock to perhaps disguise the Stealthsuit a bit more.

You could also do what I did for the Tau Psyker Squid thing that I made and cut the jump pack off the back and use the flat section that is currently on top as the back.

Do you have any of he jump packs from Ashen Circle you used for the Sun Titan marine? You could use one of those jets as the main backpack and a couple of Space Marine vents as stabilisation thrusters.

That would probably give a far more hunched appearance though.

I understand your sentiment regarding the coat. Her colour (especially the green) seem a bit too gritty/dirty for a Rogue Trader. The gold is very hard to see in the coat, which is both very awesome as well as a bit of a downer. Awesome as in that it becomes very subtle, almost hidden; a downer because it kinda hides the 'flamboyance' of the Rogue Trader character.

Inquisitor Ito and the Daemonhost Sinnertwist

This is the Radical Inquisitor Ito, known as a heretic to the few that know or understand his story. Once a faithful Inquisitor of good standing, personal tragedy has led to him taking a more drastic path. Procuring an ancient series of texts known as the Pseudomonarchia, Ito believes he has a weapon powerful enough to effect great change in the Universe. He has fallen far, making an ally of the Cannibal Prince of Slaanesh to whom he has promised his flesh upon his death. He has summoned a daemonhost known as the Sinnertwist, or the Slakemoth – a daemon of Slaanesh.

A bit gory, I know. But Khorne doesn’t have a monopoly on gore – Slaanesh is the god of excess in all things, and the Sinnertwist is a daemon that revels in the excess of gore. Reading her true name from the Pseudomonarchia requires a flesh sacrifice and Ito is unwilling to pay that himself, so he has given this honor to another unlucky soul.

A quick painting project to help recover from the Rogue Trader who was a real pain in the arse. These two were largely speed painted and are something of a homage to one of my favourite miniature painters at the moment, Picta Mortis. The black is all rather translucent and shimmery, like wet leather and the gore is probably still sticky.

The Inquisitor is no disciple of Slaanesh, but the daemonhost is and I wanted them to work together as a mini-diorama. This is my version of Slaanesh, inspired by Silent Hill and Lovecraftian horror.

There are more images and a couple of stories on the blog here: http://www.exprofundis.com/radical-inquisitor-and-daemonhost/

Beautiful! It looks like something out of a Clive Barker-directed 40k movie. You HAVE to tell me your method for gore, especially on that corpse.
