Unassembled miniatures are a deal-killer for many boardgamers, although Shadows of Brimstone might be evidence otherwise. I know Super Dungeon Explore switched to pre-assembled, and even Reaper Miniatures Bones chose to go pre-assembled, even though Bones doesn't come with a boardgame!

Mini's look "snap together" more than "assembly", which I'd like to see in more games. I detest mold lines, and have been skipping on various miniature boardgames partially because of this. Doesn't help that I have two boxes of Bones not painted yet...

Anyone else notice the FFG boxes in the background?

I've been there in person. If the donuts had been there I would have grabbed them and run.

Mmmm donuts.

Latest update is up. Check it out here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1700755582/mercs-recon/posts/1409116

Most important is that games are produced and in the Chinese customs queue:

We have been informed that Assassination Protocol and Counter Threat have been pushed into Chinese customs. When they are loaded onto the boats bound for EU fulfillment and US fulfillment, we will get those boat names for you. This will allow you to track the boats yourselves.

You have about 5 weeks to check and update your address.

Was that the one we got the digital version? Was there supposed to be a dead tree copy?

I thought there was. I paid for one. I don't get the updates, so if they changed it to e-format only, please let me know.

There is a physical book,... It's already been printed (in fact, they point in out in the warehouse tour). I'm not sure if it's going to the fulfillment center or it they are sending it directly to backers,.... My guess is that it might be going with the stretch goal shipment early next year,.... But with those silly tax rules,... They might be motivated to move them early ????

That's good to know. Frankly, I'd prefer they give an option to not ship it or donate it to a library or something. I got the e-book, read it and enjoyed it; at this point, don't really see much use for a physical copy (for me at least).

Personally I would rather they had not included in the kickstarter, or if they had to shove it in, only as a pdf, in either case I forgot it even existed.

Base games should be on the boat soon:

When the containers get through customs and we have boat names, you’ll get an immediate update so you can track it.

Our printer in China is shipping out those copies in China, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. If you are in these areas, you’ll be getting Recon very, very soon.

A separate container is going to our partner in Australia. They are shipping out Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

If you are in these area, you’ll be getting your copies of Recon fairly soon (before EU and the Americas).

Looks like the base games won't make it until January to the US. Current ETA is 12/30 to Chicago fulfillment house.

The boat has been identified,... but looks like it's not yet to china,.... looks like a stop in Korea first.

Here are some pretty pictures of the new plastic EIC with a pro paint job while we wait:

How many of those GCC guys are included with the basic pledge?

Not all of them right? Some of them were supposed to be individual add ons or something, right?

Anyone know which figures we're going to get via the stretch goals? I'm liking the Recorder.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Here are the GCC that you get with a $120 pledge or higher:

- KS Exclusive Judge alternate sculpt (reward)
- Agent ($300k SG)
- Sniper ($575k SG)

Then from the Unilateral Mandate mission pack ($750k SG):

- Tribunal
- Demo
- Recorder
- Breacher
- Chief

So the Judge that you get is not the picture above (but the alternate sculpt).

If you wanted the standard Judge sculpt or any of the others, you would have needed to add them a la carte in the PM (or added the "All you MERCS are belong to us" add on.

That's good news that the Recorder is included. She's definitely my favorite of the bunch. I hope those extra figures will eventually be released to retail in some form or another. Plastic , metal, don't care. I'd just like to having another chance to get them. EIC is really growing on me and I'd like another opportunity to get them.

Speaking of EIC, does anyone know if their sniper is being included with the other ones? The graphics on the KS page were never updated to include them.

not sure on the sniper,...

but these will all surely be available is some way once MERCS 2.0 TT goes out.

During the campaign they said that they'd continue to have things available in metal,... I guess we'll see in the spring sometime.

So all of those models were included in the $120 level? I don't see them as an add on option.

No, just the ones that I listed. You had the ability to add individual models in the PM,... So you could have picked each one that you wanted,... You had to first select the faction, and then the model from a drop down one at a time,... Or, if you picked the "All your MERCS are belong to us" add-on, then you would get every model that was not included in the $120 or higher pledge.

Has anyone here received this yet? I see on BGG and the KS page that this is being fulfilled. Worth picking up for the minis?

Most US backers have received the base games, and unfortunately quality took a bit of a hit compared to MYTH. Some minis generally agreed to be good (EU Inc) and some mostly though disappointing (Keizai Waza). For the price, I'm very satisfied, speaking as a novice level painter. I mean, the quality of my finished minis will be limited much more by my skills than by the actual mini. I think the big question is how things look on Wave 2 delivery, hopefully March if they get it out the factory door before Chinese New Year. Wave 2 will be a much bigger package, particularly if you bought the module package. Hopefully the quality is there for "tabletop" levels.

One thing is clear though: the people who spent an extra $200 or whatever for last individual models are likely to be angry with model quality, given that they paid like $6/figure.
MERCS was hoping this would be a jumpstart for their tabletop game to shift to plastic, and their manufacturer really screwed them. It'll be interesting to see how things go from here.

Oh, and the game itself is pretty fun so far, for whatever that's worth.

Honestly, no. They're serviceable, but where I'm able I'll be using my metal minis.

The game is fantastic, though.

Detail-wise the minis are very close to the metals (Kaizei Waza guns aside). The assembly is much easier than the metals. The biggest problem is removing flash from minis. They are fairly hard and can take a slight scraping, but there are a few mold lines that can't be reached or cleaned up properly due to the material. If you are looking for them as gaming pieces, then by all means, they are great, but they definitely won't ever be display pieces. Underneath it all though, the game is excellent.
