Oh nothing for a long time, I've just been very slowly sourcing weapons for my DBX dreadball teams so I can use them as Deadzone mercenary forces and maybe gangs etc.

So I see Paradigm is going to use some enforcers and marines (corporation) for stand-in pan-o guys... got me thinking maybe I should do the same. Enforcers work well as power armored heavy infantry in a general sense, and corporation marines do grunts and middle management pretty well. Maybe as janissaries and hafza for my Qapu Khalki, or Azri'al or whatever.

I've got a load of space marine guns and a few las rifles, they're kind of big on mantic models though. I appreciate the offer but shipping 'cross the pond is probably not worth it for either of us

Probably not but figured I would ask. Wasn't gonna charge more than shipping anyway as they are spares.

Yeah I hear you and appreciate it

I think I'm gonna have to zero-out my hobby budget after DS.

Yeah I've got some stuff to sell, or trade if I ever bump into anyone nearby that wants it, but I'm pretty slow about moving my merchandise

My thinking was Marines for LI, Enforcers for MI, and peacekeepers for HI, so whatever the Haqq ones of those are (they're one of the factions I've not looked into) would be a good fit. The Enforcers work well enough with the aesthetic I'll probably keep using them, the Marines will likely be used for test schemes and counts as once i get the proper minis, as they aren't quite right, I don't think. The only issue overall is the posing, which is a lot more static, but shouldn't be an issue if you're just building up numbers.

I certainly look forward to seeing your take on it.

I dunno I think the corporation is higher tech than most Infinity stuff. It isn't as clean or anime shiny, but they have laser rifles and more FTL travel options etc. Plus wider spread.

I think I'll use marines as light infantry, enforcers as heavies. Peace keepers will either be those models that are almost too heavy to still be infantry, or mini tags like Gekkos. I bet a strider is the right size for a T.A.G. too

I would probably use marines as Hafza, QK infantry that more or less went to officer training school and have better armor than grunts. That leaves only Janissaries or Azra'il for the enforcers to be.

I mean they could sub in as military orders too but it would almost be easier to use space marines for load outs at that point.

The Corp certainly fit better than, say, 40k Guardsmen, I just figured the look of the armour didn't really fit. I might change my mind one I get some actually Infinity stuff in.

I was gonna get the QK starter set but now that I've got a full force of Shasvastii, and ice storm... I think I may need to limit my forces to 10+options rather than going nuts. Meaning the shasvastii get a few more models (eventually!, not now), pan-o get a few more models (down the road), and QK may just be good enough, I've got 4 nomad models it can hire as mercs and 7 other Haqq models that fit in, use the marines as Hafza and the enforcers as one of the two HI available to me and they're set.

May even delve further into deadzone and scope out the mercs and human rebs too.

Ok here's Ashley:

I may try to do something with the eyes, I liked them at first but they stand out funny or something, maybe something I'm not used to with the skintone, maybe just too big?

A quick job, maybe 30-45 minutes while watching tv lol.

Here's a link to the new Mars Attacks! gallery, which will slowly grow to include finished minis and scenery from the board game.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-70053-42952_Mars%20Attacks!.html

Still no finished Shasvastii today, I spent a solid hour or two trimming bits and assembling this monstrosity:

It's a 2x2x2 building with a full and armored catwalk/surround, and armored roof. Will serve the Nexus Psi scenario Bunker Hill, as well as being fully playable elsewhere. The big gate opens easily enough, and the gate could be attached with angled clips to give a partially open or flung wide appearance, giving LoS blocking benefits to a small space in front of it, for when play isn't centered around the structure. Obviously it got shelled from the rear and most of the floors are gone, still fairly serviceable as most of the windows still have standing room for firing out, but it should be fairly playable with reasonable accessibility.

I'm glad with how this turned out. It's a monster that ate a lot of clips, I'm hoping the extra bundle I ordered with my second shipment is enough to get me through the rest of my original order+ruined quadrant+second wave lol. I was torn between doing this and one of those kick-ass single-tile thick bastion walls that stretches all or most of the way across a table. This serves a mission in nexus psi though, and if I want a big wall of doom, I can simply connect this to my other fortified structures and get the same thing. This one should go well with my walled double width walkway sections, I'll just have to remove the barricade bits where the walkways connect.

Gonna clean house and mow the back yard so the wife is happy with me when she and daughter get back from a bit of a trip, then maybe i'll sneak in some more hobby time

The slimy is more or less intentional, the bumpiness especially on the rifle seed soldier is poor choice of primers.

They look great - and the slight bumpy texture works. So call it a happy accident!

Thanks guys

I'm fearful for my clip supply after that one. I didn't catalog or try to ration clips this time, just used them as necessary. Hopefully I've got enough for the rest of the goods.

Long weekend did not yield 3 more painted shasvastii, but on the bright side that's more fun stuff to do this week.

So since I get unemployed/find a crummy min-wage paying job in the winter, it's time to start prepping and tightening my belt! The hobby budget is sealed! Going to ignore all kickstarters and sales going forward. This will be a trying time for me , I fully endorse you guys to nag and yell at me if I say I'm buying anything!

But don't worry, I've still got like 4 kickstarter packages coming due by the end of the year and a ridiculous pile of stuff before that shows up, this will be good for me

Current game plan is to continue finishing the Shasvastii, then I'll look into what I want to do next. I'll have to do that samurai diorama before the middle of November, and I've got a couple of Xmas presents I want to make though they aren't necessarily wargaming-hobby related. Thinking about making my dad a saw-blade shop clock, with tiny little Heineken bottles for the numbers and something cheeky about beer thirty is when I say it is.. or something. And I want to make my daughter a little table for her various little people and what not. Something like a small scale version of those walk/crawl-in model train display tables, where you can get into the middle so you can get to everything better. Not sure if I'll just be building the table, putting down a very simple surface, and covering it with her little people houses, or if I'll have time/will to replicate something like Daniel Tiger's neighborhood. Maybe put in a train that goes around, dunno yet. Fearful that actual scenery will get broken and smashed and poked with sharp things, for the initial model I may just do it up flat and use her current toy houses.

Working on editing the images from the first zombie solo attempt, then I've got one more batch after that.

Nice building, Grim! I assumed you glued it? Or did you leave it so you can take it down?

I don't plan to take it down, but I just stuck to clips this time. If it acts weak later on, I'll glue it.

Yep, that is the plan. Part of why I got 4 mats.

Will need a pretty hefty pile to set up a proper game yet.

Looks like I'm not the only one who did that. I love the DZ mats they're very nice. Plus when you play games like 40k you can put them on top of the current board you're using as a sort of prefab foundation slab like in the video game "Dune: Battle for Arakis" Then all you do is plonk buildings on it

That's one elaborate building. Should be much fun to play on.

Yeah, I need to do that with my fantasy empire army, maybe my skaven too though they're so close to being done...

And dark eldar...

And tyranids...

And maybe space marines...

And then there were tall buildings for lewls:

I think I'm gonna make the little grey one out front into a restaurant, with some stools outside, like a ramen or beef bowl kind of joint.

Gotta say, never heard of Heresey Minatures till i saw this thread/your sig. I just checked out his site, and man o man their is quite a few mini's i am considering(for my IG army). I understand his frustration on the issue, and i honestly can't blame him. I was just wondering what the quality and type of minatures they are? I would assume Resin? Thx for the info!

I think most of Heresy's stuff is white metal, but Angelofvengeance may know better. I liked the not-Dr. Who stuff I got, I may order again but it would have to be a big order to justify the shipping.

He is gradually shifting over to resin, but the majority is white metal I believe. I've not had any resin stuff from him yet but looking at how the Nether Lord and the Dragon comes out, his commitment to QC is exceedingly high. Never had any problems dealing with him. Top bloke!

That Bunker Hill is a magnificent build, I love the fact that it looks like a massive incendiary device has blow a whole into/out of the building. Initially with the battlezones I doubted that they would scale up well but seeing buildings like this and some other builds makes you realise that the sky really is the limit.

Good luck on tightening the hobby belt, I plan on doing the same thing and getting as much painted up before the inevitable Christmas influx. Be strong Grim (except for Black Friday).

I was building it and knew I wanted playability through battle damage, so I kind of tried to concentrate it and make it look like a single or at least concentrated attack. It's still almost as beneficial to inhabitants as if it were intact, all of the firing points still have a partial floor by them, though non-enforcers will have more trouble getting up the floors. I'll probably add a few ladders after it's painted.

The trickiest thing about making big buildings with battlezones is getting that magical 90 degree right angle on all of your various connections. Or 180, whatever. If you get off somewhere, maybe a clip is too thick or one isn't fully into a panel, it can mess you up later on.

I plan to spend exactly zero dollars until I'm gainfully employed again. I mean, I'm still in the middle of busy season right now, but come december I'll either be unemployed or working a crummy part time job as there isn't much landscaping to do in the winter. Gotta build up the pantry and additional funds to keep the bills happily paid till I get back to the usual amount of income.

Dunno about black friday. Maybe I'll see if anyone wants to get me stuff via the excellent sales then, but I probably will stay away myself. I know I got damn close to buying one of those dreamforge leviathans for a steep discount last time...

Almost got my Gwailos done, half hour, hour tops to go. The other two are just skinned. That sounds more brutal than it is

Gotta take the wifelady out to dinner tonight but maybe after things calm down I'll finish him and start one of the others.

I've been having thoughts about color schemes for ice storm. I want my bakunin and corregidor nomads to sort of match, and my corregidor mercs to match up with my qapu khalqi, and I'm leaning towards white armor, grey/black clothes, and maybe each faction gets it's own off/special color. Like my bakunin dudes have blue in places, my corregidor may have red or maybe even yellow somewhere. Not sure about QK yet.

Heavily considering doing black armor and standard dark khaki clothes for pan-o. Make them look a bit more menacing, I think that scheme would look killer on fusiliers and make the Orc and any Knights fairly frightening.

Need a loan? Mates rates, only 25% p.a! Still have to build my leviathans but they're very sweet, I'd love seeing what you'd do with one. You have enough Deadzone terrain to give them cover too! ; )
