TN/AL/MS state line.

15mm here as well. Tempted to double-up on combat patrols, but was a pledge level featuring heavies mentioned to be available after they are unlocked?

Black Bases and Grey Plastic Forever:My quaint little hobby blog.

40k- The Kumunga Swarm (more)
Count Mortimer’s Private Security Force/Excavation Team (building)
Kabal of the Grieving Widow (less)

Yes, two prospective new levels:

- "Assault Patrol" when heavies arrive

- "Siege Force" when quads arrive

Infantry and conventional vehicles?!?

I thought they weren't a part of this game/rule-set!

If they are...

Yes there are rules for combined arms forces, infantry, tanks, helicopters etc Non mecha units can only take up 30% of your force total as the game is meant to keep focus on mechanized combat. (all that stuff is included in the rules links on the previous page)

I won't have any infantry models or tanks for quite a while as getting the mecha into production is already a tall order, but seeing how this kickstarter is doing that may become a project for the next year. In the meantime there's plenty of 3rd party options to use. I have a bunch of the Micropanzer infantry and stuff from Ground Zero Games and Khurisan. Unlike a certain big Gee Dubba I don't mind people cross pollinating my models with other games, and that's actually a trend with most 15mm companies as very few of them have completely expansive lines so there's a lot of mix and matching going on between lines.

Where do you think you are, YMDC? This is N&R. People are happy here because there are cool things to buy.

The 15mm stuff is actually a pretty nice deal. Over the weekend, I was drawing up an order for Micropanzer Striders -- which I think are reasonably priced and look very cool. Mecha Front stuff is going for about the same, at least for the duration of the KS, but IMO looks even better. You know, they are different styles (I still want to get the Striders) but I do think Mecha Front is in a separate category of design and production quality.

@Paulson

That's cool to hear about the combined arms stuff. To be honest I'm mostly in it for some cool counts-as Legio Titanicus for Epic Armageddon but since this is going to come with rules and cards I'll be down to try your ruleset too. And it's a pretty cheap system to get into for a local group, at least on the 6mm scale.

Would 3 NorAm/Neo-Bloc lights versus 2 Blackfrost Mediums work as a battle, or should I plan on getting something more for the NorAm/Neos?

The hard part I've been having is getting people to understand the scale of the models, online they don't look all that big in the pics even when shown next to stuff like GW's dreadnought or broadsides. When people see them in person they get hooked pretty fast, so I think growing the game means getting it out in front of people so that they can realize how much they actually want it. Sometime it's hard to pitch an idea as they have no frame of reference until they see it and then they wonder how they ever lived without it.

The other aspect that ties into it is that given the lack of how the size translates there's a lot of comments on the 15mm forums that they are too expensive, but the models tend to dwarf pretty much all of the other walkers that are available from other ranges. Given the nature of resin I think the prices are very fair (if not slightly underpriced). Finding that ideal price point that fall in line with the expectation of the customer is always a challenge.

I like the Micropanzer stuff on the whole, their infantry is great their walkers aren't my favorite but that's due to my personal taste in robot style. They are incredibly well sculpted so I have no complaints on that, they just didn't hit the right vibe with what I was looking for in terms of aesthetics. I'm not quite sure how big their walkers are.

2 lights are generally worth 1 med, so it'd be better balanced as 2 lights & 1 medium vs 2 blackfrost mediums the medium mecha weapons may not look like much on paper but they are a considerable step up in firepower.

Uh oh...

I may have to jump in on this one now!

Do the rules scale (!) with just fine with the size of the Mechs?

6mm vs. 15mm?

And what scale is DZC - I'd like the terrain available for that one...

DZC is 10mm right? I wanna say 10mm....

And i second the question on the rules scaling from the 15mm down to the 6mm Thanks!

I haven't done tons of testing the rules at 6mm, but the little bit that I di worked well. You do need to reduce the template sizes by half and use squads for activating units but otherwise it seems to play well. The 15mm stuff tends to play in about 30-40 minutes the 6mm games are larger and take maybe hour to hour and a half.

DZC uses 10mm terrain but it works perfect for 15mm stuff too

Is it because your using more models at 6mm? I'm just curious as to how it would play out. I wanna make sure I've also got enough for me and someone else to play a solid game

Honestly, Paulson's 15mm stuff is huge! Even his 6mm is bigger than Dropzone Commander's 10mm. I am hoping to use the 6mm stuff on my DzC board from Games & Gears. The buildings may seem a bit large... but again, since these models dwarf Dropzone Commander's own models, I'm not sure if that will really be the case.

I'm kind of hoping to use the 6mm stuff in 15mm numbers, as in; smaller scale figures but same number of units. Granted, I assume it'd require trimming their movement, range, and perhaps even the board size accordingly, but with enough 3x3 and 4x4+ games, something that played out on a 2x2 (?) with 2-4 mechs per side wouldn't be a bad thing in my eyes.

Especially since I think my budget will cap out at 8 mechs; 1 medium and 2 lights for two factions, and 2 mediums for the BF.

Maybe 11 if the heavies catch my fancy, but breaking significantly over $100 to get there would be something to ponder.

Have to see how good my tax return is this year first.

BAM, 10K!

Also, while we're on the topic of waiting, remember, PG was up front with us that if the campaign expands significantly, delivery dates would likely get pushed back as well.

@PG: refresh my memory, didn't you say opening up the Heavies would likely add a little time to things?

Just trying to keep everyone on the same page. Mismanaged expectations are a cluster-feth waiting to happen. (again, looking at you, Palladium)

Oh, I know it could be longer. I'm likely to give him the same leeway I gave Mark at Dreamforge. Paulson is active with the community and seems to genuinely communicate which means that even if he slips I probably won't say much.

Granted, that does assume a decent level of communication post kickstarter but I don't think that'll be an issue.

Yeah, I figured you might be 'in the know', but the more that information gets out there, the less likely we'll have people blowing up in August when we find out that the 'possible delays' are actual delays.

For all my bitching at Palladium, I don't really mind delays. I mind when people spend months misleading out outright lying to me (even if it also includes lying to themselves) and tries to convince me this was all unavoidable.

Telling us "hey, guys, if this blows up, we're gonna need extra time" gets major props from this KS vet.

Yeah, there are certain companies I simply won't touch on kickstarter no matter the deal. Thankfully this isn't one of them since I've bought stuff from Paulson Games before

Not me. A single day's delay is absolutely unacceptable and will be met with demands for my money back, plus interest, plus a public apology on every forum possibly involved (including the knitting forum my grandmother is on).

Also, I want free stuff if he's late. It's only fair. I mean - I haven't seen an update in the past 5 minutes!! Who knows?!? Maybe he's running off with the money!!

We crossed 48 hours that it's been running and hit $10k so we're well over 3 times the initial goal, which is pretty awesome.

My communication afte rthe KS will probably end up being a once a week update as I'll need to be deep in 3d design land to get them hammered out, but there will defintely be updates even if it's to say "super busy no time to update" I'll try and do my best to keep realistic progress updates and there's not going to be any sugar coating to make myself look good or hide potential delays. If stuff happens to come up and cause issues I'll let you guys know and how I plan to address things. Since I've backer a few kickstarters myself I know that I don't mind upsets so long as the communication is kept open.
