Hmmm. I bet I could talk my wife into letting me get bronze powder for just such a reason! I can try at least!

Or at least that brush-on stuff, that "looks" like bronze, but isn't as heavy as a cold cast. Nice! I think it's cheaper too! Bonus!

You should talk her into just letting you order all the stuff you need at once. It sucks waiting for something when working on a project.

I know, but that aint gonna happen. Stuff for my hobby must be funded by my hobby. Until I can prove to her that I am making more from the hobby than I am spending on it. Yeah right!

But with this, it would be a benefit to the house, and I might be able to pick it up when I order some more mold rubber and resin! Save on shipping.

Ok, so I'll send you some stuff to cast on commission, tell me what you need and I'll be the customer requesting it It's a Win-Win!

1. you're making money
2. you have to buy supplies in order to make money

This fulfills her stipulations quite legally I'd think.

You think she would catch on if I ordered 100 Nuka-Cola bottles, each one needing a different colored resin-dye?

Most likely! Well, she may not know right away, as I keep the finances separate, but she'd find out sooner than later I'm sure.

Your rapid progress as a sculptor and caster is truly impressive.

But what impresses me the most are actually your concept designs for strong and sexy female characters.

The concept sketch for your Female Blasphemy Investigator is brilliant!

I'd love to sculpt one of your sexy female character designs sometime. Let me know if you would be interested in doing a concept sketch commission for me.

For whatever reason, I seem to be having issues coming up with sexy female designs lately.

Space Corsair - I am very honored that you like my concepts art so much you want to commission me to design for one you! Wow! Seeing your amazing work was one of the reasons I got into this side of the hobby! PM sent, I look forward to hearing back from you.

RW - Thanks! Glad you could make it! 49 pages seems so small compared to the rambling threads of some others I could name...Oh! Vik! Hi! I didn't see you there!

I have felt like an Old Man for years! Not even 40 yet! Although, it's right around the corner...mocking me.

Big Update today! I am also going to be combining my War Walker thread with this one. I am not however, going to transfer everything on that blog to this one, just the major highlights. If you want to see everything that went on in that thread, it's in the World Eaters link in my signature.

For the War Walker, I basically started with this concept sketch:

And I have progressed as follows:

The last picture is the WIP of the foot. It has a long way to go.

OK, so look for more stuff onthat on this thread! I also have been making casts of the boiler tank that will be powering the Steampunk Version of the Walker:

And the Sarcophogus/pilot housing has had a mold made for casting, but has yet to be cast.

OK, on to other projects. The Nukka-Cola type Bottles are ready for a production mold to be made:

I'll be using a syringe to inject the resin into the mold, so there is not a large pour spout.

I have some more work done on the Female Heresy Investigator, to the legs mostly:

And I had some more heads done for her, but I didn't like them, so I didn't take pictures of them. I have two that I like, and I will let you all vote on which one you like better. Warning: the client gets final say, so don't be dissapointed if the one you like doesn't make the cut. Also, I am not opposed to making more, if the client doesn't like either:

That's it for now. Thanks for looking.

Haha ha! I like the way you think!
Who need s pants?

Also, I have been asked to sculpt something for the top and side hatchs of a Mk I Rhino for a Word Bearer's Army. I wanted to have something that looked like a banner made from human skin, then nailed to the hatch, then some cool quote carved into the flesh.

I was directed to an exerpt from the "The Book of Lorgar" as a possible idea. It sounded good. Here is the quote as shown on wh40k.lexicanum.com

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Cool right?

Well, I tried to write it on the top hatch, and only got the first part to fit:

And when I actually started the sculpt, it was even harder to get the quote on it. Sculpting words this small is not easy! I tried to make it look as chaotic as possible, here is what I ended up with:

If you look hard, you can see the stiching, where the fuman flesh was sewn together to make the banner.

Again, Thanks for looking. I should have more updates as the week progresses....I hope.

Thanks Silver!

I was trying to figure out how to do this hatch banner for days. Thinking I'd have to do it in multiple parts, due to wanting the carved parts and the "suture" areas, and the corners to looked stretched. As it happened, I did it all in one go. I got my wife mad at me though. She said I had 30 minutes before she would be ready to leave. She was ready in record time, and was upset that I was the one holding us up while I finished this.

Also, I have a question to ask all of you. If you were to order say a sprue of Soldier heads, for instance, and there were a couple of areas that had bubbles in the resin, but I had already filled them in with gs, and after paining, you couldn't even tell. Would you be OK with that? Or would you be mad that I was trying to cover up the bubbles? I for one can't understand why a company would send out resin casts that had bubbles unless they just don't look at them.

Just curious. As it is, I have a couple of sprues from before I got the hang of the pressure pot that have some bubbles in hard to reach areas.

Thanks,

RSJake

mate... that is not awsome that is plain nuts... sculpting writtten words on that scale... you ruin your eyesights...

see that GW... someone can do that kind of stuff without cheating!!!!!!! respect mate!

and the stitching... man you are quite hard at tempting me to look more into chaos...and i always saw myself as a loyalist!

the new leg armor looks very good... the kneecap is just plain awsome... you cater for a very psecialized fetsih group i say^^

the nuka cola bottle sprue...to make a nuka bottle chain ...genius at work

and that but not least...the heads... i am a bit torn...no skip that totally torn...the first one looks very good... but reminds me strongly to a SoB...the second one i think, with the eyepiece...that is my actual favorite the hairdo looks dynamic and kickass... i like that! beside, the tech detail looks very better i have to say compared to the first-head rebreather part ...

by the way... since you know had brought the walker into this thread too... does that mean the other thread will be abandoned...?

anyway... that WAS a MAJOR update!!!

cheers, vik

Thanks Vik! Yeah, eyes seam to be going faster that usual. Actually I have good days and bad. Who can tell. I like to think this is actually making my eyes stronger! But I also like to think that drinking beer is good for me too!

To answer a couple of you are comments:

the "tech" part of the re-breather on the first head would continue accross the neck to the backpack, but I haven't done the neck yet. But yes, I like the second one too.

The World Eater's thread will not be abandoned, just kept to only actual World Eater's stuff. The walker started out as a World Eater's build, but progressed to something much, much more. When I get them done, I might paint some up for my World Eaters. Then it would go there!

Also, the left leg of the Cortez model will be geeting more leather straps to hold the left leg armor in place, and then both legs will be getting some hydraulic pistons, hoses, and dails and stuff. I need to finish her breast plate rib area. Then get to work on her arms and backpack, and demon hammer, and the cyber lizard.

funny you should mention the "power" of beer...we just watched the other minute a short "educational" show on tv covering just that... it ain´t that bad...beer that is^^ just the measure is the important factor...as usual...

Why then, can one desire too much of a good thing?

and it seems you have a truckload of sculpting work ahead of your...well...go ahead then^^ best foot forward
