The skin looks great. I like the blending/shading.

I think the blue beard is fine. Although, if you wanted it to stand out more, purple or even red would work (depending on what colour the rest of him will be).

The pearlescent effect works pretty well. There's me going out and buying paints to get the effect and you just go and paint it with normal paint...

The old metals look nice too.

Thanks Dr H and Warboss. Well the good thing about it is that since dropping it, i can take the belly plate off and paint the details behind. That needed to happen heres some more WIP on details behind the plate as well as alot more skin work and tones. The new skin tones on the left side of the body still have alot of blending to do. The face started to get more shading so will need further highlights now Also, the clothe bandolier is painted to look like sharkskin. I may or may not do this to greater effect on the pants. Its a mix of dark grey silver and dark blue. Looks neat!

Well, i assume that sea ogre topic isnt the most popular of subjects not enough dakka im guessing! LOL(for me too) Well heres some more work done on him. Doing the necklace really helped settle things down in that particular area Also more work on the helmet though im gonna pull back the weathering a tudge on it. its a bit distracting for my taste. Started work on the details of the face but a ways off from done. I like this guy though Liking him more

He is looking fantastic. Loving the metallic's. Weathering on them looks awsome. Have you pained the horns? They seem to have a pearlescent thing going on at the moment.

bebop, your painting skills baffle me.

If I have to single any one thing out to compliment, it would be his elbow Really well done with the tone and texture of the skin there, as well as across the rest o' him.
Additionally, the mother of pearl looks better and better the more I look at it, nicely done with the effect!

Mother of pearl!? more like MOTHER OF GOD!! that is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G simply beautiful work and an idea that can be used for so may different things, you do realize a tute is going to be requested don't you? of course not by ME, I don't need any help with ideas and painting.....nope.....not me...... but if you DO a tute.... make sure you let me know.......so i can check for spelling.....yeah....spelling :-)

@ Cam: The horns are indeed painted, and meant to look like abalone. Though ill accept pearlescent as well Ill make a tutorial of how i did it sometime in the future

Ive made a little more progress today. Though STILL nothing on the face! I cant help myself i just wanted to break away from it and paint some fun details. The model is so big that i can come back to it as i move around the mini. Todays progress was finishing the pearl pistol hes got on his hip. And painting my very favorite part of the mini, the flask hanging from his belt. Man i love that little detail. It came out not terrible I purposefully used a more yellowish green for it and you can bet that it WILL be glowing against his leg. But i need to paint all that first before adding the osl. Also, his gun is wrapped in what im trying to create as shark skin. I think its ok. I dont hate it but im not terribly satisfied with it either. Any thoughts on that? Also, pushed up the verdigris another notch, upon suggestion. And theres wip flat gem on the side of his helmet, also painted in the yellowish green as a tertiary color, which unless i get looking better will end up armor! >_<. Heres some pics, hope you like!

Nice. Yeah, I like the bottle. The shade of green it has makes his skin look bluer. I like how you got it to look bubbly, nice touch.

Oh wow. Everytime I see this model, I see something new.

This time around, I noticed the ring. Such a small detail, but it adds so much!

He is looking great, my favourite is the ageing/verdigris of the metal. The variety of colours looks so good.

This has got to be the best thing you've painted ever! surpasing your IG trophy even!! and that's saying something :-) I am honestly jealous dude! you are simply outstanding with the brushes!

Thanks for the tips on the sea ogre colors, I'm in on the creature caster kickstarter for the pincer demon and now I have this whole underwater theme swimming thru my mind. Will probably be using your scheme on some of them.

I know it's probably not a good thing (or maybe it is) but I get a real sense of wanting to compete and do one myself as a sea Ogre! not in a bad way I just am inspired now as it really looks brilliant doesn't it! :-) it's almost like Bebop's been holding back on us? maybe he's not really Bebop at all? maybe he's a secret 'Eavy metal painter? No, no, that can't be it at all he's Waaaay better than what I've seen in the magazine lately!

Guess you missed the notice that GW switched from heavymetal painters to finepainters a few years ago. Like finecast sometimes you must dunk them in boiling hot water to get them into shape. Some have extra holes in them, but those are cinematic and not defective . just don't leave them in the sun too long or they get all melty.

@ Mordain: Thanks alot. The verdegris is not bad. Ive seen it done to better effect. Next time im going to try and brighten/comic book it up (james wappell vibe). Its a bit flat for my taste but its my first foray into this kind of thing.
@Nerdy: Haha, thanks I feel some parts are representitive of my best efforts, others are a step back. Its a huge model and im trying to remain consistant all over him. I actually much prefer the cleanliness of minus' sgt. Its more my style and i felt that mini is really clean all over. Some parts on this model, while individually are painted fine, as a whole, look a bit chaotic. Thats my personal battle here. And man, totally paint a sea ogre!! I want to see your rendition of it. Itll put mine to shame no doubt, Thats the kind of good competition we like around here! Inspiration!! and...Ive not been holding out so much as just putting alot more time on this guy. I realize one of my bigger enemies is patience, i know it seems ridiculous, but i think if i just wait to get things exactly how i want them, the next time around itll be a much faster process. Im learning quite a bit with this fellow! If i did him again i think i could do an even better job. Also finecast sucks:( I tipped my holder over again and the fkng mace broke off AGAIN!!!!So upon reglueing it is not sturdy and now i have to pin it. How freaking aggravating is that??? Its not biggie in the end as no paint has chipped and it was a clean snap, not a gnarly one.

Ok, things are going to get pretty nutso for me this month so the progress is going to slow a tudge on this fellow, but thats good as im in no rush to finish.
Heres todays update which is mostly very small details to the face, his eye, and that ugly piece of sculpt which is holding up is belly plate on the left side. Ill have to really go in and clean it up though its much uglier this close up than in person. His eye looks good though Pics are a bit overzoomed, sorry. That blue around his mouth is actually shade that is coming out super strong because of the zoom. In real life it needs to be there, (which is why i havent corrected it yet) but it looks a bit funny this close up) Soon i will get a camera.

anyways...you've been awesomely busy i can see. loving the sea ogre! everything about it looks great but i think whats best mate is that its a totally new kind of thing and you've hit up several new techniques at once (the flask, the tusks etc).

Hey guys Thanks for keeping the love alive. As if you couldnt tell, me painting has grinded to a complete stop because of an insanely busy tour schedule! Which is great but leaves no time for keeping up any kind of momentum with painting. Especially this big guy here. Hes had to go into my unfinished projects box because there so much of him left to do! Ill finish him eventually but i have to first remember what the hell i did to make his skin tones....Uh oh. ::Cry:: Hopefully ill have something interesting to show in the next update. For now, miuss you all, watching in envy all of your projects, dont always have a second to respond. Bebop will be back soon enough. much Love!!

Hai Dakka!! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!! 2014 was a year of extremes, from epic hobbying to absolutely none at all. Been away for a while, and many of your projects have come and gone:(, but I miss you all! As for 2015....

Acontecimento... The land of angry Portuguese, crazy Sikh, Aragonese knights, Vedic Snakemen and the coolest TAGs (well, Tikkbalang only has the concept but still, they are awesome, and the Dragao even more).
