It was either that one or the snow theme, ended up going wasteland because I've been wanting something more desert-y. I'll take a couple pics whenever it shows up.

If I were to go with a desert theme, I'd have a hard time picking between the wasteland and the badlands themes.

Announcing a new release for space battle lovers - a Deep Space themed mats in 4x6 feet and 3x3 feet sizes with wonderful art by Jan Jasinski. They are hand drawn while using a special blending technique to acquire unique cloud effects of the nebula. Such art was bound to be printed on highest quality vinyl material to meet the highest standard for your gaming table. The mats will become available on 28th of April, until then all preorders receive -10% discount. www.deepcutstudio.com
If anyone is thinking about logo-less Deep Space mat, then we have to note, that the mat will still feature a small 'drawn by Jan Jasinski' text in the corner since it's part of the licencing agreement.

Well, I just sent you an email! If there is any way I could switch my order to this mat, I would really love to do so. I don't need the 10% preorder discount, you can just transfer the full-priced order that I already placed... hopefully this makes up for the possibility of your already having printed a nebula mat (I'm sure someone else would love to get it without a logo, anyway ).
The "drawn by Jan Jasinski" in the corner is fine, from what I can see in that second pic that is much less obtrusive than the logo.
So check your email and let me know please
---------------------------------
Edit: And got a reply already, I'll be getting this one instead, woot! Super excited, as it's a nice compromise between just a simple starfield and the nebula... just what I was looking for

I've ordered a 3' x 3' wasteland to play malifaux on after seeing the logo free offer. Had a super quick response from them, but obviously it's easter so it'll take a few extra days. Looking forwards to seeing it in the flesh.

Has anyone ordered a custom 4X8 size mat from deep-cut studio ? Since they are stretching the image of a 4X6 mat I was wondering about the sharpness.

They don't offer 4x8 as a standard option, so I'm not sure... I guess that would be a custom order and they probably would have to stretch the art. 4x6 seems to be all the rage these days

Speaking of which, are any of the Hubble Telescope pics public domain? Those might make really awesome space mats.

So it's a great offer by Deep-Cut, though my funds for the rest of this month are tied up/committed, so I won't be able to afford one. Hopefully they can keep the logo-free mats going as an option for those of us who care going forward, and I'll likely end up getting one or two in the next month or two.
I'm not fussed either way with the logo either but like Az probably would like one without. perhaps you could just use an outline or embossed look to get your brand on them without being too obvious? also Az, if you're ordering in the next couple of months drop me a line and I'll go in with you and get one too they look good!

I can bring mine over if we both ever start up the same space game (although I'll be waiting a while for Hawk Wargames to put theirs out).

Very nice Eggs. That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind; these Deep Cut mats pretty well solidified for me the idea that a mat/play surface can be pretty enough to store vertically against a wall.

Those RPG mats look really cool. The only downside is not being able to reconfigure layouts... have you considered doing smaller squares that could be put together in different ways?

Are mats still available with no logos, or did that end in April? Also, pics of the mats showing logos would be nice, because it would be nice to see how badly it contrasts.
With some of the pictures, it might not be as bad as others. Automatically Appended Next Post: I am looking at the rake's corner and cobblestone streets in particular.

exalted for finally some clear and nice pics of the urban mat
the only problem I have with such sheet mats is that frequent reuse will eventually lead to them getting torn or developing dog-ears or getting folded by mistake etc.
I'm thinking about the zuzzy miniatures wounded city mat instead ( http://www.zuzzy.com/2013/09/the-wounded-city-broken-blacktop-gaming.html) which cannot tear and is almost like a layer of rubber that you can conveniently fold and manhandle (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMqp7xe-eaM)
Shipping is horrendous, but the mat itself is cheap, so the price in total more or less evens out.
Of course, the cheapest method is simply buying a can of The Fang spray and just spraying your battle board in an urban color.

The snark is really not helpful, Kroot... your posts for the last month in this thread have been mostly sarcastic remarks about the logo. Thankfully, Deep-Cut Studio took the opposite approach and offered logo-free mats during the same month.
Certainly looking forward to receiving mine (got my shipping notice for the newly designed space mat on May 1st!).

@RiTides: we have some modular maps as well. Check some releases from Dream Weaved Worlds or Heroic Maps (more from their range coming out soon)
@nolzur: yes, mats with no logos offer is still available, although we make them under the usual 'custom print' conditions - extra 5-10% for custom design works if they are required. Cobblestone Streets and Rake's Corner mats come without logos by default (agreement with DavesGames conditions).

On those modular tiles, what's the best way to cut them? I assume they come as a single piece, based on the picture

Hey all
I am thinking of getting one of these mats for the forthcoming AVP game and I'll be using the Deadzone terrain. Are the mat surfaces slippery? Does the terrain slide around at all? I was wondering because the Deadzone terrain is light. Does anyone here have the Space Platform mat? I'd like to see additional pictures if you do because the ones on the website aren't very large and it's hard to see the detail.
Thanks in advance.

I’m sure glad GW is going to all plastic, so the ever-rising cost of white metal won’t impact the cost of their miniatures. |
