Thank you, Dave. You just secured my £1 for these guys, which could make a couple of hundred if I find the new lot as potentially useful as the last...

Unveiling the Fortress! coming soon - £40 Add On once stretch goal is met.

#24
THE FORTRESS!!!… (big booming voice, echo, echo, echo)...

So finally we get to show you what we have been working on… D

The Fortress…

This was something we thought of doing before the KS started, but was holding back to see what you guys were asking for. A big gamble because that means if we need to make it, it would be a challenge to get it done in the timeline of the Kickstarter! Well it was asked for many times, but so were the Sewers and we worked hard getting those done, due to the sheer size of them. That left little time for the Fortress, but what the hell, you only live once, so we threw ourselves at it…

THE FORTRESS!!!

How it works…

This is our biggest add-on ever. It's made up of 3 die cutting tools and printed sheet types.

Lower Walls. These sit at the bottom of the Fortress and add a really nice angled aesthetic to the look of the exterior. They clip to the standard Walls you get in your Dungeon. They also make great Walls to surround your Fortress. They come with Entrance Walls and doors too.
The Upper walls are a complete wall in themselves. They are textured with the Fortress on the outside and the standard Dungeon on the inside. You can use them to make sheer Walls or add Walkways to them with or without ramps. There are six different textured designs and some have windows for shooting from.

Longer shot so you can see it on the game table

The Fortress Walls are incredibly flexible as the Upper walls can also be used inside your dungeon in many places. You can surround your whole dungeon with Fortress Walls, or make small self contained towers. These can then have lift off tops so that you can access the room inside. So you can make a small Fortress, then use the leftover Fortress walls to make some Towers, then link them with Walkways to make stone or rope Bridges.
Spoiler:

Top of a tower, with steps leading down to a bridge )

I can not stress enough just how flexible these walls are. We can only show you a few examples of what is possible due to time, but they really are as flexible as your dungeons. You can add stone towers inside your dungeon, build your dungeon around a central Fortress structure and so on and so on…
Spoiler:

You can use L-Clips so that the top lifts off and give access to the insides

The Crenellations can be placed on top of any Upper Wall whether in long strips or small towers. Stick walkways behind them and you have emplacements for your warriors to shoot from or hurl objects, pour hot oil etc )
Spoiler:

Attack your invaders from the safety of the towers D

The set up we have shown you is made up of just one Fortress set (with the exception of the Wall that is not attached and surrounds the Fortress), so you can see there is plenty of bang for your buck. In fact this is a much more expensive add-on to tool and also we have included a half sheet of multi-clips too so you can use your leftover ramps from your Dungeons on the inside of the Fortress Walls. We have priced the Fortress at £40 (the same price as the smaller Sci-fi Bunker Base last year) so it's a bargain for sure ;o)

You can simply build your Fortress around your Dungeon

A massive Fortress that enables you to set up some really epic battles or fast rush skirmishes. From across the battlefield you storm the Fortress (of course), then make your way into the depths of the dungeons within.
Spoiler:

These sewer tiles make nifty rivers

Spoiler:

CHARGE!!!!!!!!!

We will show you all the set pieces and complete list in a later update.

Happy Gaming indeed… Over and out for now… :0)

I do have to say Battle Systems is probably the most I have ever spent on any kickstarter.

Just to confirm for £40 you get enough Fortress parts (excluding any interior dungeon walls and stuff which is part of the main pledge) to make the what's shown in the image above other than the single height front wall. So for £138 including a sewers set (plus postage) you can make (nearly) everything in the image other than the wall at the very front. (I say nearly as there are a few paid add ons in the image that are optional).

So, have they said when the Fortress unlocks?

Cause that'll push my pledge up to $275.

Not that I haven't already added the amount to my pledge or anything...

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Man.

Really wish I had the funds, the fortress walls just seal the deal on this being a super duper awesome product. Picking it up at retail, if that even happens, will be a fortune in shipping and so on... but there's just no way.

The above image is 230 or more dollars, too bad it wasn't earlier (or way later) in the year.

Good to hear you guys are covered with the entry pledge to upgrade later.

Torn on how much to get. How much I'd use frequently... what would be better more internal terrain to adventure through, or the external terrain that would likely see less use. Hmmmm. It's not cheap either, but no doubt cheaper than retail. -_-

That was my problem for SciFi. Kind of. Do I get two strongholds, or get the sweet add-ons I want and get sexy bunker walls to surround it all. I went with bunker walls since they doubled the scope of my set. I will be able to make discrete buildings with interiors to use for wargaming or skirmish, large interiors with or without walls to the outside, and so on..

With the fantasy set I think the sewers and fortress are even stronger than SciFi. Unless all you want your set for is dungeoncrawls, ffortress lets you have castles to visit and siege, wizard towers, and what not. I bet the lava side of the sewer set would make an excellent most for an evil castle

If you just want dungeon crawler terrain.. get more interior. For dnd old say get the walls.

I didn't get the sci-fi fortress. It's defintiely stronger for fantasy and yeah still tempted. Decisions decisions.

I got it for SciFi, kind of on the fence. If I scrape the funds for this, it basically makes the set for me.

Stretch Goal #22 @ £145,000

The Fortress is Stretch Goal #23

#25
Into the 72 hour countdown we go….

Tick tock, tick tock...

Okay, so we are in the final stages to this campaign. KS countdown has changed from Days to Hours and as I write this it's 68 hours left, (bites nails)

Well, just a tiny time ago we showed you the BIG Fortress,

Tomorrow we will tell you when this bad boy is to be unlocked, but most of you are chucking in for it now… which is pretty much how you unlock SG's in Kickstarter. )

Stretch Goal 20 unlocked....

We just hit 135K which means Dungeon Accessories #2 is ripe for the picking. So get picking

So next SG

Well it's not the Fortress, (it's soooo close though) it's SG21, the Pristine Walls unlocking at 140K. Want a slightly different vibe for a room? Then these are the walls for you!

That's it for this update.

Over & Out for now

Colin & Wayne.

drinking ale on the ground like russ intended

The fortress looks nice but personally I would want the walls to have a thickness rather than just the card so it looks like blocks rather than a false wall from the top

The Trap has been sprung...

The trap counters are now unlocked, which means those who have chosen the Dungeon Accessories #2 add-on now have x4 Trap Counters. All are textured as plain floor tiles on one side, but two have Traps on the reverse. So you take a 50/50 chance when crossing them!

The Mines of Minerva have x2 Trapdoor Counters, the reverse will show an open trapdoor with a hole leading down.

So what about that Fortress then…

Well we said in the reveal update that it is the biggest tooled add-on and is also at a crazy good price. So we need a solid funding level to get it. Which I'm sure is achievable, so when we hit £155k this will be unlocked. So lets get that bad boy unlocked and on your gaming tables.

Here is shot of inside the fortress. We chucked this together fast with a Dungeon and some add-ons Here is shot of inside the fortress. We chucked this together fast with a Dungeon and some add-ons

Spoiler:

Apart from the Wall right at the front that is separate from the Fortress, this is one complete set at £40 (including the large and small tower ) - We then used some Sewer tiles to add a moat and your Dungeon with some add-ons inside.

Spoiler:

Gargoyles (that are now unlocked and free with your Dungeon) look great at the main entrance D

Clips…

One thing we have been asked for is the plastic clips add-on. We have been unable to do this due to the sheer cost of the sheets. They have to be just right to grip the card and so making them this way means that they cost big time. However they are requested a lot. We can offer this add-on and sell them at £15, this means that after we pay Corporation Tax, Vat etc (plus the little bit of postage we include in the price of all add-ons due to weight) there is not much left, but it does fill a need and so we can cover this. The sheet has the same amount of clips as you get in the dungeon D

136 clips on a sheet, never run out of clips again.

CALL to ARMS…

So the fortress is built and the battlements ready. KS produce some simple, but effective statistics and one thing that really was clear from last years KS is that in the last 48 hours many of you started posting and telling everyone that we were about to finish the campaign and that there was loads of cool FREE stuff on offer and to check out the new additions. We had a surge from forums and websites where you guys had posted. So if you have your favourite hang out then giving us a mention now would really make the last few hours a fun time for all )

We still have more SG's to come and we are going to fit these in wherever we can, so keep us at the top of your agenda and tell the world. )

Over and out for now...

Colin and Wayne.

Congratulations on this Kickstarter to Battle System! It looks fantastic and I'm in for the Dungeon pledge plus sewers and fortress and most of the ad ons. I can't wait to run skirmishes with this stuff!

Yep even more funding than the previous one as expected now they've been "proven". Looking forward to the goodies already... hopefully the pledge manager is a few months out so the sting of this payment has worn off so I can justify more ; p
