It's both, actually. Comes stock with the Mega Kannons, can switch for the Blastas

I would hope the KFF allows coverage of other models near it's base. Would be a nice but temporary buff for any ork unit it flies near.

I don't think it will, but who knows?

Considering it's an upgrade from the "Stikkbomm Chukka" chaff launchers I think it's solely for the Mekflyer.

I'm pretty sure the flyer game will be fun (and I will play that), but another flyer is the least orks need right now. Unless this thing has the best rules a flyer can get then I'm not biteing. GW has shown they like to give orks new things, but they often don't follow through and let some dumb right the rules. It happened to flashgitz (were is 4up armor, why that many bosspoles ), it happened to gmorkanauts, and it happened to the revised gaz supliment.

I just noticed that GW have nicked my 'Mek plugged cranially into his contraption' from my custom Stompa kitbash!

It's OK, GW; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I'll take it as such.

Well, I'm interested. I've never bothered to look at the flyers before, but I will consider it.

More than likely, this thing will be more points than a wraithknight, in which case, I'll drop back down to a ground state.

Looking at what it's armed with its got decent fire power.

2x S8, AP2, blasts
1 S4+d6 , AP1
And the twin linked big shoota.
And possibly a KFF

And possibly a better BS based off the description.

So if they can give it a decent point value, I can see it finding a place in my lists.

It has to be over 200pts with the KFF.
If it's around 200pts it's not bad if it's a lot higher it's not going to be worth it.
Considering it's likely still av10 with 3 hullpoints. Even with a 5++. This thing will drop fast once it arrives in the board.

I'm also curious how does an invul save work with jink? Do you get both jink (cover) and the invul or do you have to chose between cover or invul?

However I can be completely off and maybe it's an av12 flyer and much more durable.

You get both but since you can only use one save taking jink would be pretty dumb move unless opponents weapon ignore invulnerable save but allows jink(is there one?)

Lot of talk about points cost and it if it will be worth it and armament and etc, no talk about the fact that the big release is actually all new rules for all flyers including the fact that they're adding new a new phase just for plane to plane combat.

I haven't heard this. This does get me more interested In how a flyer phase can effect the base game. But points value does matter alot, no amount of neat upgrades can pull a horible priced flyer off the shelf. Heck, if the gmorkanauts is any indication of anything then I suspect most will never get this flyer if it is overcosted, it would just not be worth it for competitive play...but for fun fluffy games then maybe.

I'm hoping the kff upgrade isn't an invul, but ups the armor of the flyer maybe. And thr stikk bomb launcher gives is a better jink save

The new 40k expansion is Death from the Skies, adding a "dogfight" phase, making the game 20% longer, and adds 3 new stat columns for flyers.

Pass.

If they release the new flyer as a standard 40k flyer, then maybe, if it's costed correctly.

The mentions of the 40K BRB getting a new edition that is mainly a living update could end up with this book being like Stronghold assault- the rules being integrated into the core rules, but this book required for all the unit datasheets.

Death from the skies always had optional dog fighter rules scenarios and narrative games. The reason you never heard of them is no one used them!

I'm not expecting GW to change and update every flier in 40k with a completely new dataslate or to change core rules in the brb regarding fliers in an optional supplement. I do expect minor changes and weapon option loadouts to a two models, a few changes allowinv other space marines to use some previously restricted fliers and maybe a random rule tweak or two on some other fliers such as unit sizes. At best I hope the KFF upgrade on Orc fliers is usable on all ork fliers. I hope but don't expect that change. I also expect some flier unit sizes to change from 1 to 1-3.

An invul isn't exactly a bad option on a flier that shoots blast weapons considering you can't snap shoot blasts.

However the fact the KFF will likely still be a 6in range around the model and effect all models is a huge detriment when you end up giving your opponent a free invul as your flier with short range wpns flies across the board. If Orks get an update on the KFF to only benefit friendly models then the KFF on the flier would be decent.

I hope the Teleport blastas aren't the same stats as they are in the Ork Codex. A 12" range on those guns is going to put a damper on things. The Kustom Mega Kannons might be an auto upgrade due to range. Although you now have to watch your gets hot rolls.

Ugghh the more I think about the Ork plane the more I get discouraged.

On the upside I've got so many plans for that sweet sexy StormHawk.

Best to stop thinking of it in terms of a game piece in a garbage ruleset and just enjoy the sculpt.

Now that I can drink to

If I get one of these I want to model the tail fins riddled with bullet holes from the over enthusiastic grot tail gunner ala Sean Connery in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Seems like they will be repacking the dakkajet and adding a sprue. Which means higher cost.

Which is a shame because the Dakkajet/Bommer kit felt like a fairly priced model that looks cool, is decent on the tabletop, and is a lot of fun to use. Slapping another $20 US onto the sticker price makes that value proposition much worse. Only upside is that it gives bits for doing some Mek Gun conversions possibly.

Old ork flyer kit was $45.50 new one is rumored to be $55.00.

I think the extra $10 is well worth it for the extra sprue and the flyer kit was ready a wealth of bits.

In the UK the prices look to be £27.50 for the old model and £42 (or perhaps £40) for the new one.

Yes you do get some cool new bits but you still only get to put one model on the table.

With the old ork flyer kit I am only able to magnetize the 3 variants.
I'm hoping this new kit would allow me to get all 4 weapon loadouts magnetized

I was hoping to try this. If the rules for the new bomber are worth it, I'll pick one up and try.

Yeah that kit had a lot of good bits. It was also the best source for bombs. I used a lot of the bombs on other ork vehicles.

And rokkits! I don't use burna bombers so all those rokkits for other projects is nice.

That's for the Space Marine flyer, the Orc one didn't go up that much.
