The hope is that postal costs to send the whole thing from the US are now so high that it will be cheaper (or at least basically cost neutral) for Adam & KD to

containerise the whole lot (after packing and labelling in the US, paying an independent service elsewhere to do it with the variety of options is going to be expensive)
send it to somewhere in the EU (thus paying the VAT himself)
and then pay a shipping service to post it the EU

so he does not loose any (significant amount of) money, and we EU backers don't get big nasty tax bills

(although said tax bills were something we all should have been prepared for as we were never guaranteed we wouldn't get them)

There is no dodging the tax man, not in any meaningful way. Without manufacturing and or assembly within the EU there are really no options.

You can use a freight forwarder to bring a bulk shipment in but there will be someone paid to send it to the backers that will cost. That cost will be passed to you. It essentially becomes a wash.

He could have it assemble in the EU, chances are, the same result as above. This is why I have a link on the front page of my website to my overseas retailers. Even if I run a 30% off sale it costs the customer a small amount more than if they had purchased it locally at full retail.

Given that Mark here has actual experience fulfilling Kickstarter internationally (3 Waves, no less!), I think his comment holds a bit of weight.

Logistics is expensive, and there is not much in the way of getting around it.

Now, where Adam has some advantage over Mark, is that Adam could be sending a container to Europe, versus pallets or packages. That scale could help bring cost down, but it surely won't help the fulfillment timeline.

This should have been people's default expectation all along.

I'm just hoping that shipping doesn't break the bank.

At this stage, don't count on it. It was never a high priority and it has never been researched. But hey, we paid a small fee for the shipping of something so colossal, so the only problem we'll be having is the inevitable customs bill. It's not a win-win, but as far as US Kickstarters go, this one is still more favourable than many others out there who, to quote a certain despicable witch on these forums, hide behind "ROW doesn't count in our eyes" as the perfect excuse.

I saw a few people posting that there were still looking for individuals who might be willing to part with their pledges... If anyone does, feel free to message me, as I may indeed need to part with my gigantic pledge.

Aside from that, I have to say that Adam has been great to interact with. Seeing how transparent, humble, and candid he has been throughout this process has made what could have been miserable, long wait, instead been fascinating. It really feels like we have been on the journey with him.

I bumped from the Game & Dragon to Herald level when the PM reopened, and I had felt like I had spent both too much, and not enough. I still feel that way, but realistically, I wasn't going for completion and will have plenty enough regardless.

Adam is a great person, just not an excellent project manager. Still, things are getting done on a huge scale, so that's pretty good.

Since I pledged for a lot of add ons and not the main box, I don't believe I benefit from any of these time consuming improvements. Whatever. I just want it to arrive before Torn freaking Armor does. I doubt I'll have it before Total Extinction, Deadzone 2 or even MEdge.

You can at least count on it looking better than all of those at least.

That's something...

Right?

I guess. Surely I'll never find another mini with such sharply-sculpted baby fingers.

But I've never been as obsessed with sculpting and casting quality as I have with the conversion utility and aesthetic of a miniature.

I'm still impressed by the sculpts, aside from the unarmored multi-poses, so as a models & minis person, I'm pretty happy with it.

And it's not like Adam didn't add a bunch of conversion bits to the game, because he could (though extra legs and torsos would have been a better decision).

At the end of the day, I believe Adam will deliver everything, and it will be awesome. OTOH, from a casual look at Torn, Alyssa looks to be out of funds and out of time, with no good options to recover and deliver.

Is it terrible that I don't even care about the models any more? I mean, I do... but I have mountains of great models. I personally want an amazing RPG-esque, campaign cooperative game.

The Civilization/Monster Hunter fan in me backed this one. :-p

Right there with you. I purchased the Experiment of Death in plastic and was not impressed. Dont get me wrong, I fully understand this is a board game and im not expecting Show quality miniatures but I do not look forward to assembling any for this board game,

18lbs is also absurd, and looking back and now thinking about it, armor kits for every individual monster encounter seems like over kill. I cant imagine how long its going to take me to muster up the energy to assemble and paint each kind so someone can swap out the fur armor guy for the bone armor guy...

We've agreed to just magnetize the heads and work it out from there. Magnetizing every bit and bob of a model would be too much work, not to mention fiddly.

I'm just going to build quartets of models that I think look good, and call it a day.

That's my plan as well. At least one male and female from each armor set, and then mixing pieces for cool factor.

Just to clear something up- the Experiment of Death is PVC, what the game was originally going to be made in. The quality wasn't up to snuff, so it was changed to HIPS. You can buy an example of that quality with the Pinups of Death set. It's miles better than the experiment.

No problem. It's really easy to compare the quality difference between the two since they both include Twilight Knight Pinups. Detail is a lot crisper, and the sword isn't nearly so...wavy as it is in PVC.

Yeah, WGF has done an incredible job in capturing resin detail as they moved it to HIPS. Plus the scale-ups of the largest models. It's very much improved over the early PVC stuff.

Yeah, the Experiment was made in PVC a good while ago too- at least 2-3 years. PVC manufacturing itself has evolved some since then. Hopefully the newer kickstarter projects coming out have resolved some of the issues with the earlier iterations of the material.

The latest Super Dungeon Explore stuff is quite good, even though it's all PVC minis.

Hi all,

I understand that there was a variant of the Lion Knight miniature that was released only via the Black Friday grab bags.

I'm looking rather desperately for one, so if anyone is willing to sell it, please do let me know! I'm willing to consider any price quotes, even those with 3 figures..

Please please sell it to me if you have it!

P.S: actually, I'm also interested in any other variant sculpts that exists, please do contact me for those as well!

Ok, Percival is pretty great (nice to see a fully armored woman as well) but this guy, the Mountain Man, may be my favorite KD model yet.

That Mountain Man really feels like he belongs in Berserk.

I'm glad that it sounds like we'll finally be getting our stuff soon. I do hope that either he or Wargames Factory will be selling the monster and armor addons for the game afterwards.

I'm not surprised that he's got some expansions planned. I really like the designs for these two.

Did any of the new miniatures have game content too?

No, the last set that had Monster game content was the Pinups of Death HIPS set with the gender swapping girdle and special event cards.
