Well I failed in finishing the other two today

Just been one of those days, I did get round to listing loads on ebay though so it could be worthwhile if I get any bidders

Just a small update today without any pics I'm afarid.

I've just signed myself up for a 40k tournament at the begining of April, it looks like the Dark Wolves will be out in force again. I have a few new things planned so you can welcome some 40k back into the blog again

It's going to be a bit tight on the painting front though, as soon as I payed work asked me to work the next two weekends

Interesting pics will follow soon once models and new toys arrive

Today sees the completion of the Nautilus squadron for Man-O-War, if that's what you call a unit of ships

I still need to add some runes so I can differentiate between them but I think that will come a bit later.

While I was doing these I also started work on Mr Helbrecht of Black Templar fame.

I've only been working on his cloak so far. I've got the reds down and wanted to try and do a velvet look on the back, this is what he looks like so far.

The picture should be zoomable in the gallery, I need to tidy the red trim of his cloak on the back still.

I'm trying to go after this picture with the painting style.

But the Dwarfs and Helbrecht have gone on hold for more Dark Wolves for their next tournament at the start of April. I'm currently working on a Wolf Guard squad in power armour this time, they are currently at their boring stage of Grey so I didnt bother taking shots.

I'm not sure how quickly I'm going to be able to push these guys out as I'm working next weekend so might have to try and do some painting in the evenings. Also required for my army list is some barricades and two Vengeance Weapon Batterys which I need to pick up soon.

Going to be very busy on the painting front in March.

Looking forward to this! 3 rd pic broken though
Nautical shenanigans excellent! Maybe a little green barnacling around the water line?
Cloak is interesting, very natural looking.

And as I say, looking forward to more dark wolves.

Cheers Graven, I think I'll be giving the barnacling a miss on these but there will be barnacling on a future project in 28mm scale in the future

I picked up some Barricades off ebay last week they came pre-painted and looked like this on arrival

Well I had to make them mine so got out my bits box and weathering powders and they ended up like this.

I think they came out quite well in the end.

I'm still working on my Wolf Guard squad for the Dark Wolves but they wont be finished until next weekend now.

Nice barricades. "Making them your own," definitely did the trick! The foliage was definitely needed.

Righto me hearties tis update time and I've got my 40k head really screwed on this week.

I finished the Wolf Guard squad this weekend they were quite a joy to paint, I have missed a few small bits that I noticed from the pictures so will do them another day. Oh and the OSL on the weapons doesn't look that bad in real life it looks like the reflection on the armour.

The squads kind of a mixed bag some for a Kill Team and some of the guys are for the tournament. Jump pack guy will also make a good Wolf Lord.

The pics are fully zoomable in the gallery as well my photo skills are getting better with the new camera!

Next up is the final piece for the tournament, some very big guns.

I'm hoping to get these knocked out pretty quick as I could be working every day (including weekends ) now to the tournament at the start of next month.

Other news I finally got round to assembling my Guardians I picked up from Graven a while ago, just need to add their back bits. I also did a bit of undercoating the weekend as well while it was nice. My painting table is being taken over by Eldar at the moment

Although it looks like Fabious Bile could be in for a good time

So yea Eldar coming out my ears, I also just won another batch of 26 Guardians on ebay bringing up the count to 40 to paint. I don't have any support weapons though so not quite sure how thats going to work. I might run them without not sure yet. I think 30 will be Biel-Tan and then the other 10 will go to another craftworld project for later. I'm also going to include a unit of LotD with them, It's very tempting to use my Fire Hawk as a test model, quite fitting considering....

I've also been working out whats needed for my Death Guard and World Eaters to bring them upto 1750 points and my Sisters to the same, really tempted to get the Sisters a Knight.

Also picked up a Librarian for my MW's as well he's in the post as we speak hopefully.

Got loads more ideas floating round in my head but will save them for another update

This weekend saw the start of the Vengeance Weapon Batteries they are all glued together and primed and Sunday I started painting the base for the first one and oh how boring they are to paint I truly feel sorry for Ramos now and I'm not even doing gold on mine!

There's nothing to show yet which makes it even worse after slaving over them all weekend.

I'm so worried about not finishing them by the end of the month (didn't realise how big they were) that I'll be doing bits to them during the evenings to try and help them along

So instead while glue and the primer was drying I did the gold on Helbrecht which I do have a pic of for you. What looks like a reflection off the armour is actually silver highlights, I painted the gold the same way as I did the Raptors at the very start of this blog (but with extra silver highlighting), which seems like years ago now

Thats all from me this week.

.......Actually its not I need to rant as well those Eldar Guardians I picked up from ebay arrived this week, they were just packed in an envelope so as you may have guessed they got rather crushed lots of broken wrists ankles and back bits so I had to send them back to try and get some money back, there goes my good deal of the week.

I'll have to pick some nice new ones up a later point now, they were poorly glued together so I couldn't have done much with them anyway, poor things.

Must apologise for the lack of activity lately work has been kicking my ass badly all I've been doing when I get a spare five minutes is sleeping and slowly but sure adding the to Vengeance Weapon Battery's.

Well they are finally finished, they took ages and were very boring I must say so without further ado here's some big guns.

And a size comparison

Mr Helbrecht is also nearly done everything apart from his base and backpack, I did plan on finishing his backpack today but I ended up working for longer than expected last night so haven't really done much, I also need to pick something up for his base as I want my Black Templars to be Jungle based.

I've also been feeding my rulebook addiction over the last few weeks as well from stuff I've sold on ebay, so you can expect some Infinity amongst other new ranges on my blog at some point in the future.

Nearly forgot to put the picture of my pond I pocked up as well from ebay, I think it will fit in nicely on my gaming area just need to pick up some buildings which I'm planing on doing this week. I'm thinking of getting the Deadzone set as they dont look too bad for the price.

For me its tournament time next weekend with the Dark Wolves, so next update will include an army shot from the tournament as I don't have space at the moment and some ranting on how badly I did

Next up on my list of things to paint is to finish Helbrecht and then I have all sorts of random models looking at my painting table but I plan on doing some more ships for my Dwarf Man O War fleet and I have a librarian for my Mantis Warriors all made up and ready for some undercoat.

That's all from me for this week

Well not quite as I also was going to say I saw a great game on the net the other day called By Fire and Sword is a 15mm historic wargame based in the 17th century, if any one has played it I'd be interested to know what you think. I'm also trying not to pick up any Darklands miniatures until the rulebook is out but its getting harder each time I check out their weekly update in the news and rumours section, damn those models are the best I've ever seen.

I really like the paint scheme on your big guns. They look old and weathered. Like a permanent fixture on an old world. I wish the kit made a much larger weapon, but they're beautiful all the same.

Cheers Warboss I went for the weathered look for exactly that reason. It acts as a bonus as they can be used for multiple armies as well.

An update from the weekend just gone.

I took my Skyrar's Dark Wolves out for a 1750 tournament, must admit didn't really enjoy myself but we will come to that.

Game 1 vs Imperial Guard - First game of the day and I went up against an mech Guard list. Guard went first and his manticore wiped out one of my vengeance weapon battery's 3/4 of one Long Fang squad and half of the other one. Then in my turn Logan and his Melta drop pod squad really wiffed on their firing and failed to destroy any tanks when they landed. It kind of went down hill from there. Although I had loads of bad luck the guy I was playing was one of my regulars tournament opponents so we had a good laugh, it was his turn to win anyway

Game 2 vs Taudar hmm all I'm going to say is two riptides and a Wraith Knight, I had no long range ap2 weaponry. Yeah you can guess the rest my ass was his. My only positive about this game was I killed his wraith knight in close combat with my Thunder Wolves, the other unit I killed was a squad of Kroot.....

Game 3 vs Necrons Bottom table for the last game against Necrons I would like to point out they were using their dice pot as a monolith umm like yeah whatever Logan and his drop podding melta squad killed it on the first turn they arrived I then proceeded to table them. My casualties were 7 Grey Hunters, It was too much of stomping for my liking even though I won it was like game two in reverse.

This win did bump me right back up the placings though so it looked like I didnt really do that bad

Some very nicely painted armies this time round though I got pics of the best apart from one of a pure Wolf army, it had no scouring units and it did really well was most impressed shame I didn't get to see it in action.

So here we go with a bad shot of my army first!

I voted for the cream Dark Angel army above which one best painted army.

I walked away with best painted objective markers, the Dark Wolves have never not won best objective in all the tournies I've used them in where this prize is present.

Next tournament is in June not sure if I'm going to go or not yet, I need to play something different so I'll be looking at touching my sisters up and seeing if I can pull enough Mantis Warriors together to bring them to 1750 as an allied detachment. I'll need to re-base the MW's though to match the Mars type effect the Sisters have going on.

There is also the possibility that I'll be taking the Dark Wolves out next month for a huge 4000 point game, still to be confirmed though.

Sounds like kind of a bummer Gir... sorry to hear that. Great that you came away with the objective prize though!

Would you mind a suggestion on the painting of your dark wolves (just one little thing)? I think you need to make the center of your plasma core about two shades lighter... so it looks more like blue-tinted white rather than blue. That's coming from Major_Tom11's class on color theory at Adepticon. Think it'd help sell the OSL and make the plasma mini really pop!

Thanks Gits your right on the plasma it really does need to go a bit brighter with the white, just a bit worried on how to tackle it with a paint brush so I went with the safe option.

Next time I do some plasma weaponry I'll try and take it to the next level

Oh and my painting table has something half painted in yellow on it currently that you might be interested to see.....you will have to wait for the weekend though as its not ready for showing just yet.

A small update from me today as I've left it too late and am very tired

So some pics for you to have a look at and I will be back later with some more interesting things of what I'm working on next.

So we have

Helbrecht who is finally finished been working on this guy on and off now for ages.

Then we move swiftly into Xenos territory with a Biel Tan Warlock

And then again back into safe hands with a Mantis Warrior in tranquillity pattern from a Destroyer Squad I'm working on.

I went a step extra on the jump pack OSL Git's

I'll be back tomorrow.....

Thanks both I appreciate the feedback, I seem to have scared everyone off since I stopped doing Chaos Space Marine stuff.

So onwards and upwards I'm on holiday at the moment so things are good and the hobby time is starting to kick in quite nicely.

The first task of my holiday is to complete some terrain.

I picked up this little bundle from ebay this month as a good deal.

I was quite eager to see what I could do with the Deadzone scenery. So yesterday and today I've been sawing it off the sprue and glueing it all together. I found it a right pain as some of the clips didn't fit properly and there were no where near enough in the box so some parts are just glued together. Reminds me why I hate making my own terrain so much.

So its all glued together now and ready to be undercoated tomorrow, I like the idea of doing it white like on the box but really cant be bothered with it as I just want to get back to painting models. So its going to be undercoated black with some red markings I think and some weathering hopefully that should do the job.

Here's where we are at the end of today

If I get anywhere decent tomorrow I put some more pics up for you

I have also decided not to base my scenery as it makes it a lot harder to store and I don't have much space.

Yeah was a bit disappointing but I've painted them up now and I'm quite liking how they turned out, I went for an easy scheme in the end

So here's what I did yesterday.

Today I did a little Kill Team batrep which I will write up tomorrow hopefully.

Then its on to some Man o War Dwarf ships I think.

Speaking of which here is my batrep from yesterdays Kill Team battle.
