Aye up , Cheers for taking time to comment.

@ weirding way Cheers mate , yeah I am surprised i haven't seen more big fantasy stuff converted to 40k , bruticus did show me one of Turskas fantasy/40k giants a while back that is stunning ! The pitslave collossii was kinda inspired by this

https://gimmebar-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/53f8aec21aeae.jpg

but I remembered that fufu had already made a great version. http://images.dakkadakka.com/s/i/gallery/img/2013/9/5/534518.JPG

so i thought i would take it in a new direction with the use of that brilliant knight helm. Funny you should mention that beetle backed titan carapace though , i did mock up a taurox with one recently , but decided i to go in a different direction in the end. a hovver version would be interesting .

@Monkey Thanks mate . I thought you would appreciate the Evil TV !

@KrautScientist. Hey mate, no intention to copy any marauder heads , but i find it comforting and no little surprise that a man with such an encyclopaedic bits knowledge as you found its doppelgänger . I hadn't originality intended to convert the knight but by coincidence there was a sale on the knight stuff at bits and kits and so I was able to recover the bits i used for around twenty quid which isn't bad at at all , and made the decision that much easier.

@Bruticus , thanks man , at one point i envisaged the kollosuss as the xeno species that brought up montarion , so shadow of death is appropriate , he very nearly got a giant sythe.
The bulldozer blade was a last miniute addon , that worked aesthetically rather than for any background reasons, I was actually trying to avoid giving them names or job titles etc whatsoever as this sometimes narrows the mind as to what is possible in 40k i find . The fact i have no idea what the bulldozer blade is for makes the model seem more intriguing to me , but I suppose pushing through the vast swathes of hivers could be useful in some situations originally he was going to be a Moroccan style water seller / liquid spook , and i saw the blade as being useful to keep the under hive at a safe distance when dispensing his wares ;-)

gerty is brilliant ! also the the machines from fallout Vegas have had an influence too.

@gianlucafiorentini123 thanks

@Grag , well he did come in handy moving the odd rhino out of line of sights ! more pics on the way i want to blog the game we played asap..cheers

@CMDante , oh thanks mate , the blog has been a little quiet recently but i have a few scenery projects planned for the new year . the giant is from the cygor kit btw

@ Logan , Brutalism is my fave architectural style too

@ Tcraigen "For some reason I want to do a giant like that with a harpoon cannon... " Like a giant sump hive scaley ! - maybe with the new lizard stuff ?

@CC hey buddy , thanks as always . it would be cool to see a few of these fighting tooth and claw in bruticus's arena .

So I thought I would pop up a few more pics of these guys , I dont have many non blurry ones but I have a few painted ones too .. they were painted very quickly just in one day for gaming so no golden demons here , but I still like the feel of them.

They look fantastic painted, quick paintjob or not.

What is the base model of the guildmaster's fleshy parts? Some LOTR troll or something? I'm a big fan of his floppy hat / biomechanical trendril combination.

I love the Kollosus' weird high shoulders, almost like the big fleshy shoulder hump a buffalo has.

Great job for a quick paint job...they look fantastic. Like the skin tone on the guilder, and love the screen on the servitor. Nice to see more detail shots of the guilder too, various bits filed away for reference

@ weirding way Cheers mate, yep lotr troll king is the base part . The buffalo shouklders are exactly that , I have done little to them but add spikes and skulls ., they look a little weird , but that is no bad thing.

@Moltar

@Camkierhi , cheers

@Monkey the skin tone looks a little shiny in these images but it came out more matte in reality , there are better images of it on migs's blog and Jeff Vaders

So Like PDH I have been busy trying to convert a Gal vorbak courtesy of PDH really great models imo and perfect for art scaling marines

i decided to try and give the marine an ambiguous background not chaos or good , somewhere in the middle. Not sure if i need more purity seals or skulls though.. i did try giving him a helmet but i wanted a mk 5 one and i dont have one yet so i might rip that head off eventually and replace it.

Great start with that one. Good job with the chest vent, and the backpack looks like it was 'fun' to swap on that one

I love the two small base idea for the giant, makes the whole model pop a bit more. the giant bases always seem to just end up taking up to much space on larger creatures. Did you have to do much fiddling with weighting and balancing it?

@Cheers monkey i agree lovely models..
@tcraigen cheers mate , yes i had to add greenstuff under the bases for weight...
@CamKierhi
@Tameyeti thanks Tameyeti i learned from baiyuan about the importance of detail

Its been a while since i last updated .. I have been working on a few bits ... some feudal bretonnian mousillon stuff with a slight heroquest vibe. but not much else really , i did get some paint on an old school metal vostroyan guardsman conversion .. I painted him mostly with oils , burnt umber.. and i reworked Inquisitor Vendrake again slightly and added a few more gothic henchmen..

http://web.archive.org/web/20080916104454/http://www.strike-to-stun.com/Mousillon/darktales/history.htm

Slightly off topic but I finally managed to get some play time with the excellent Alien Isolation game by Creative Assembly ( albeit on ps3 ) Now some long time dakkanaughts may well remember that i made a prototype Alien board game set aboard the nostromo over four years ago.. based partly on carpenter blue prints of the nostromo film set , and partly on the excellent blue prints drawn by darrell Curtis on the now defunct ( but in the process of coming back nostromo files

http://web.archive.org/web/20020126122641/http://www.linuxsweden.nu/nostromo/

http://thenostromofiles.wordpress.com/tag/deck-plans-2/

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/318828.page

Well it came as a pleasant surprise to realise that the DLC for the game ( crew expendable ) is very similar to the idea i had for the board game.. basically try and flush the alien out of the airlock now i never actually finished the board game , but i had wondered if it would make a good video game in the intervening years.. well i guess i need not have worried the the concept plays very well as a video game if not very hard... I know its most likely coincidental but .. I cant help loving the idea that the same premise for my board game actually got turned into an actual game..

Love the henchman it's like Rob Zombie meets Mordian great stuff especially what looks like an evil jester but my favourite is the Vostroyan conversion how on earth you came up with that and thought it would work but it so does.

I actually thought it was a test miniature or something, now I just want to say if you ever want rid of it I want first dibs it ROCKS !!!!

That is a very kind offer I thought the Vostroyan was a really clever conversion.

I like that older style to it less embellished as if this could almost be his regular way of dress, I saw him as a pathfinder/recon type character less armoured and a quite attack weapon.

Thanks for the links some really nice conversions there indeed, also looking forward to the scenery update you amaze me with your work in this area especially.

Heh – just spotted that old pre-slotta ogre you used for hte Vostroyan conversion. I think I had a few of those from one of the old slot-regiment packs. Glory days!

As usual, sublime work throughout. The silhouettes of your models are so distinctive; really gives them a perfectly 40k vibe.

Do you mind if I ask how you did the cracked plaster effect on the scenery a couple of pages back? Craquelure medium or something more esoteric?

Aye up dakka..

@GiraffeX dont they just .. more today..! http://opusmaius.blogspot.co.uk/

@LDD Hey mate.. I really didnt think i could get away with that head on the Ogryn.. but I was happily surprised at how well it worked.. tracker type in regular clothes is a good point.. I saw him as an outdoors man too .. maybe a woodsmen..

@Apologist Hey Apologist .. big fan of your work .. yes that Ogryn is rather old school .. but then so am I Very kind compliment .. btw .. i think Jes gooswin is to blame for my silhouette fixation.. Back in the day his models stood out head and shoulders above other citadel miniatures because of the same thing.. still do actually.. just more 3d these days..

the cracked plaster work is Tim holtz crackle paint .. lots of ink washes over the top that added a glaze and blew the cracks wide open ....cheers

Still no pics of the scnery but as i dont like to update the blog without pics.. i thought i would share a taurox conversion i started a while back.. based on a Russian cold war trencher vehicle..

Also loving the Bretonnian oddballs! The mage type character and the bowman are particular favourites!
