Sorry, been busy or I would have said something. In playing around with my AdMech (which is not a war convocation), what I find is that it's quite good against "normally powered" lists... but gets completely crushed by top-tier lists. It's surprisingly flexible owing not only to the units, but to the canticles and the CM version of the same that really change the army's capabilities from turn to turn which greatly affects how you can play it (and makes it difficult for your opponent to play against). That being said... it is, by-and-large... a bunch of rather slow, clanky robots with limited AA & no "native" aircraft available. It is shooty as blazes though, that's for certain.

I think SL's real problem was a really, really bad match up. This, along with the fact that I just couldn't have drawn better maelstrom cards. Match-up can be everything... I played that exact army at a local tournament this weekend. My first game was vs. someone who brought 9 tyranid flyers... 5 tyrants, two crones and two harpies. He mopped the table with me. I had no chance and I knew it before a single model hit the table. My two best guns were blast templates and as such never fired. My only dedicated AA vehicle was (of course) annihilated on turn 1.

The next two games were against "normal" lists... SM & Necron. Both games were very close but in the end I won both by a hair.

I guess what I'm getting at is that it was just a random, bad match-up. SL and I don't compare notes before playing... maybe we should. In this case I brought a decent tournament list and he brought a very light, experimental one. USUALLY he brings God's own arsenal of heavy weapons... so I didn't figure he'd have any problem with my Mechanicus force.

I think if we communicate a little bit before our next game, most of this issue will resolve itself and we can both have a good evening of fun gaming.

Nah.. Your just that good! And I suck. My Baby seal chapter was optimized to look cute and collect money from emotionally concerned College women.

Disclaimer: No actual baby seals were harmed in writing this response. Nor does it imply I dislike or like baby seals or in anyway condone the converting of the seal ideology by Khonification or by emotions ; which are by no means specifically the sole characteristic of college women as being define by women whom are attending college and are emotional about said seals.

No problems. though in truth .. ' God's own Arsenal' is a bit considering the new meta of Grav, scatterbikes D weaponry and spawning Bloodthursters, (notice i didn't use the word Tau!) All good. I've learned my lesson. Where did I put my 5 Wraith-knights?

ps.. all this is Humor.. nobody get their ****** in a twist.. (do people say that anymore?)

Back to painting stuff.... and washing Reaver parts ( Like it wasn't weird already!)

I guess I'm emotionally scarred by the time you brought that deep striking formation with all the grav armed heavy weapons teams that can fire when the pod in....

I dunno... last time you brought the SM version of the war convo with all the free vehicles, and two dev teams. That's a pretty solid build with plenty of heavy and special weapons. I don't run it but I do remember you mentioning how many things in it were bare-bones because of the point value we were playing at. Might be one of those lists that you just set aside unless we're playing a high enough point value game to get the wargear you need to make it really potent.

Next week I'll bring an old-fashioned Mantis Warrior CAD. Something simple and straight-forward with no formation shenanigans.

Yeah the Skyhammer Anil. is a good formation. Though that is one of the two times i played it . think your lack of knowing this formation made it more powerful. Same for me not knowing your mechanicis Army and the Canticle effect.

As for the Gladius formation. More of a learning than a style of play. Still for all the firepower you managed to beat it with pretty much a single demon Prince.

Still this is the new world. So Don't hesitate to bring anything you want. I just need to get with the times and make better choices. Some better dice rolling and cards would help.

I certainly don't want to play a dumb down ( or a ' old fashioned ' ) list so I feel better.. Play what you want. I prefer to be beaten if you can.. I'll figure it out.

I just have to say... Yatzee, had to say it. Bravo on the great post SL. I am the same way, I play what I want because of the rule of cool, though competitive I will figure it out too.

I honestly don't see it and dumbing down. I still like the basic CAD & probably still play it more than any other formation. You get a little bit of everything and have to make your mark by being smart rather than relying on special rules. Besides, my MW have some very nice chapter tactics.

As Do i, However in today's meta that will mean you are not taking advantage of the opportunities your codex offers.

I don't think uning these formations counts as WAAC anymore, I believe that what was standard in the past is now not the norm. I liken it to SCA calibration. Now it a part of the core game.

Because the formations and benefits they come with are the new norm, they no longer are defined as ' cheese' like some past combinations of figures, abilities and or wargear ( though you still can do the math and intentionally create cheese if you want.) if you want a chance of winning, like it or no you'll have to utilize the new meta. .

Play what you want next week.

Now back to the P&M portion of this blog!

Reaver parts are being cleaned section by section in order for me to keep all the parts together. Still contemplating on the color theme. Still go with the Badab theme or something HH or completely original.

PS.. Git pic of you device!

Well, since I don't think you feel you'll be playing it very often, I'd say that pretty much leaves you wide open to interpret it however you'd like.

As promised…

Complete Detachment to date…

I’ve still got the Commissar and the Command squad to do. May get a few more boxes to load out some special weapon changes. I also have another Turox NIB I might as well do to finish out the options.

Thanks,

I'm not fond of the IG figures. I think they need to be redone in more of the 'grimdark' style of 40k. Maybe I should use the solar Auxiliary from the FW HH if I ever do a IG army.

Thnaks EDC,

Whale.. Most likely not. I have too many armies on the list to do another. A Titan, a Playable World eaters army for Gunther and a mess of Lamenters still to do.. Oh and Orks.. and Eldar .. and Chaos Marines.

Started on pulling out all my Contemptors, 1 normal, 2 Relic, 2 Seige and A dreado. Gotta get to my Centurions as well.

Once the Adepticon events get posted that will drive what i'm doing next. Alpha Legion?

Cam .. thanks, but the Yellow needs highlighting. Been inspired by Nerds IF formula, Though not using the same method, I am modifying my to see if I can get more pop out of mine. The Whites are just a white grey thy need to be smoothed out and then Highlighted as well.

I may take one of the Relic Dreads and repaint in Pre Heresy World Eaters fro my Marine bud. I've added 20 mkIII guys to his cause, a HH land speeder and a set of FW jetbikes. I also have 30 MkiV guys to fill in on both his WE and my AL. Probably get another Betrayal at Calth box for the Termies.

Git's.. Very clever.. That needs to be a formation!

Whale.. They are what I really think the Dreads should be in 40K . of massive bulk. I have purchased all the weapon load outs for both of the Leviathans. I especially like the Grav Flux bombard and the Melta Lance. The 2nd one will be in AL colors.

Graven.. Thanks.. put a couple siege Drills in its arms and it could very well be.

Thanks Dr. I'll add some checkers on something otherwise Ice will scold me in public again.

All the weapons are magnetized so they'll fit on either dread in any combination. I'll be keeping most of these without chapter colors of any type so I can switch between AL and Lamenters.
