Okay, it is time to dust off the P&M blog. I have things to accomplish.

This is the week of GenCon, also known as, Ice Angels vacation. I have many things to accomplish, such as cleaning the house yard work, blah blah blah. First things first, I have to paint a land raider. A Tiger Claw land raider! It is the last remaining unpainted Tiger Claw thing I own. The plan is to have it painted by Thursday so I can sell them or trade them in at GenCon. Pictures will be forth coming I assure you.

I also have to do a bit of writing. Knightley is probably already mad at me for posting something other then fluff on my fluff blog. Any ways, wish me luck.

OH, i almost forgot, I plan on getting some battles in as well. More pictures!

p.s. I love GenCon but it isn't much of a GW event, not like Adepticon. Would any one be interested in me telling you all about the great and wonderful things I'll be demoing and playing and listening and watching?

As someone who will eventually make it to gencon, it would be nice to get a picture from a like minded person.

Yes, I get mad everytime I see you post on the epic fluff and it's not more story.

However I can't stay mad at you for too long. I for one may never get to go to a large event such as Adepticon or GenCon due to the costs involved with travel to get there, so having other people narrate their adventures allows me to be there in sprit.

Bring on the paint.

Okay, as promised here are some WIP pictures on my Tiger Claw Land Raider. For those of you who have followed my P&M blog for a long time you will probably recall that I had painted my Tiger Claw land raider once before. I didn't particularly like how it turned out. I think I have a picture some where. AH yes,

BAM

After that I decided to start over so I sent it off to the Gitsplitta work shop. He air brushed it for me so that it was a nice gradient orange. Here is what it looked like after I went through and did some of the first layers of black and gray.

I then went through and started getting some highlights, details, and the more important dirt and grim. Did mention stripes?

Here is where I am at now.

I could probably spend more time on it but I think I need to step away for a few minutes and think about. Thoughts?

God that army looks amazing. It's such a shame you are going to sell. Any reasoning behind selling the claws?

Solar - I won't sell you Corien. I'll just ship him to you. You've been more then generous with me in the past.

Knightley - I am glad you like them. The claws have been a great part of my 40k hobby but I don't think they have a use for me any more. They served their purpose as a wonderful excuse to paint orange and stripes. I will never forget the fun and the great times I had with them but I don't think they will get played again. I'd rather sell them to someone else so that they may get reused in one way or another. The funds will then go towards the next hobby project. I am hoping to get a decent price for them at GenCon being that there are so many vendors there for me to chat with but if I can't get a fair value, who knows, they may stick around.

It is nice and early. The kids are ready for school. My bags are packed. The claws are ready for their new deployment. On the agenda today, I have a 4 o'clock "How to make Suishi" class. Yes that's right. I am going to a convention and my wife and I decided to check out a suishi making class. Gencon is awesome like that.

For those of you who have never heard of GenCon, it is called the best four days of gaming. It technically is five days, but only vendors and certain passes can be used on Wednesday. This year my wife didn't get a special pass that she can technically get through work. Wednesday is almost always for business and meetings, not really for fun. Any ways, from Thursday to Sunday it is nothing but endless gaming, speaking to actors and actresses, visiting with Artists, playing games, demoing games, going to classes, and workshops, oh and playing games.

I have a suishi class today. I writing workshop and a concert tomorrow. Sunday is family day so I'll be back with my boys. I will try to keep you posted as the day goes. I may even try to post from my phone some pics of the new stuff. Another great thing about GenCon is that many of the vendors release things at GenCon and let us get first dibs on stuff.

Any ways, I have spent to much time typing. Time to go.

Someday I'll have to go once to check it off my list.

Though I hear there is not much 40k and too much MTG.
Now a Boss Monster tourney...hummmmm.

let me know if there is a FW booth and a special mini out ( I already have the ones from AC) and sign me up for the 'Free Warlord Titan' raffle if they have one!

Have fun

Gencon day 1 summary.

We arrived nice and early to get prime parking. Downtown Indianapolis has a lot of options but we have our favorite. The vendor hall opened at 10. We started the day with a little wandering before visiting one of my favorite artists, Sam Flegal. After a lovely chat, my wife and her friend attacked the magic hall for some two headed giant. I began my demos.

First up, Epic Resort. The premise is you have a resort that is trying to attract adventurers so that if your resort gets attacked by monsters they are there to stop them and inadvertently protect your resort. Every turn you get cards to build a play deck that will allow you to better staff your resort and even expand. The better care and rest you provide for the adventurers the more likely they are to stay and reach full health, which gives you victory points.

It was fun but not a game I would buy.

Next I played with a deck of carca called clever. It was a neat multipurpose deck with dozens of different ways you can play. Each card had an item on it, a color, a let or number. It was neat and inexpensive. I may go back to pick that up.

Next my friend and I played star wars armada. That game is great. At $100 it is a steep purchase but it is totally worth it. I'd also like to add it is substantially different then xwing. There are some shared ideas but I think armada is more refined and a clean game.

By 2 pm it was lunch. Right outside the convention hall were two dozen food trucks. We hit the cup cake truck for some fantastic cakes then we got our main course. I chose the quesadilla burger. It was good but it took about 45 minutes to get through the line and get my food. That was not really worth it in my opinion.

At this point I grabbed my tiger claws. I sought out the bitz guy. We had lovely chat but ultimately didn't come to an agreement. I still possess the Tiger Claws.

At 4 we had our suishi class. It was a lot of fun and very educational. I also got to eat about 20 home made rolls.

By this time it was 530. The vendor hall closes at 6. We went back in to pick up a game called evolution. It was a big hit last year and I wanted to get a copy.

Once the hall closed we hit the bar at the crown plaza. I got a phenominal cheese platter and some over priced wine. We chilled for a bit then went to an awesome pizza place that is hidden in an alley a couple blocks away.

Overall day 1 was awesome. I only bought one game so far but I probably didn't even explore half the vendor hall. I did take some pictures but it's late and I don't want to mess with it right now.

Oh one more thing while we were waiting to pick up evolution wil wheaton sat next to me to chat with the booth guys. It was pretty cool.

Mostly, on my phone.

Any pics?

I love how you just end on the Oh one more thing I met Wil Wheaton quite by accident in San Diego in 2000 and he was just a lovely, lovely bloke.

I see the Firefly crew are demoing the new expansions and the Whole Damn 'verse board, looks amazing (fab game, if you haven't played it). Also, love to know what you think of the new X-wing stuff that's heading our way.

Theophony"... and there's strippers in terminator armor and lovecraftian shenanigans afoot."
Solar_Lion: "Man this sums up your blog nicely."

I have pictures. I'll mess with them later.

I realized after that previous post that I also forgot to mention another game. Ryu, I think it was called, by Asmodee games. It was a game where everyone is trying to collect resources to make their own dragon. You would visit different areas to collect different cubes and tokens, you could also visit other peoples territories and when someone visited yours you would gain some cubes too. Overall the game had some fun mechanics but I didn't see a lot of replay ability in it. I do have to mention that this booth was also running smallworld. That is a great game. I highly recommend it.

Epic Resort sounds fun. Might have to look into it. Any particular reason you wouldnt buy?

Evolution is a FANTASTIC game, one that I happened to just "win" from my local game store xD Never even heard of it before but damn. Top notch game.
My little bro bought Smallworld from a con he went to, and thats another awesome game.

Really been meaning to play some Armada, myself... Friend of min bought 2 sets (oh to have such disposable income!), so I ought to really bug him to play xD

And Ryu sounds awesome. Why no replayability?

And have you had the chance to demo Kingdom Death?
