I too have trouble getting stuff done especially with work , the farm and family. Painting is a stress relief thing for me, so I paint often in small increments.

Don't feel inadequate!.. If I had to compare myself to all the great painters on just dakka, I wouldn't paint at all . Everyone stated new at one time. Just do what YOU can and learn to enjoy it. Not a competition for me.

Advice...
Discipline . I try to get something done every week. Even if its a small bit or work on a new technique.

Make time for yourself. It's my stress relief, so I make time for myself to paint. Usually on the weekend mornings when everyone is asleep ( Early riser for work helps)

Enjoy it.. I paint what I feel like painting. If I'm not enjoying painting this figure I move on to something else. However keep the current projects near and available as you don't want too many half finished projects. I also have multiple armies so I can really go to something completely different.

Look through the PM blogs on Dakka. There are great painters aplenty. Don't look at their work against yours. Instead look at the work as inspiration, Tap their brain for advice.. Practice. They too didn't start out any different than you or I.

Lastly.. Sometimes I just have to force myself to finish something. Power through. Often I find myself actually enjoying the challenge once I get started.

I don't paint at a high level I paint to have a good looking army. There not going to win any awards but they give me a sense of pride when they look good on the table top. That's a win in my book.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, My later yellows is much more mustard than the original stuff. I have too much to do to go back and re-paint the old stuff.

Thanks Master A.. I'm waiting for my Dawn of war Terrain. Once I got these up and painted I'll try taking a pic of the lot.

Thanks IF,, I have been putting them off for a long while, glad I can call these done. The knights I had to finish before Adepticon . We 'Wardens of the Maelstrom" ( our Original team tournament group ) will be getting together to do a IK fight so I need to have extras for the member that don't have one.

Finished the Centurions. I think I’ll go back over the Helmets to see if I can tighten them up a bit. I left off the heavy front waist plates and went for a cleaner look. I cannot find the 2nd box of these guys. Maybe I thought I bought them?

Here is the WIP of the 8 Grav Cannon guys I’m doing. 4 of them are old metal Devs that had the heavy weighted boots. They are a bit static but at least they are getting used. I made a mistake and ordered 6 Grav cannons not realizing they came in sets of 3. So Now I'm set for life on Grav Cannons.
Yes.. that's my army with 18 Grav cannons.. it's only 90 Grav shots per turn,, why the sad face?

I’m still working on the Lamenter Shoulder pad and backpacks.

Man, you just keep cranking these guys out! Really admire (and envious of) your drive

As ive been pretty much an absentee around these parts, I never got to comment on your stompy robots of doom- Love love LOVE how the purple knights came out. Really striking color scheme.
And your dreads are great. Two of the most pain in the ass colors to paint, and youve pulled them off beautifully. Levi's still one of my favorite minis... The green missiles in the top rack are a weird color choice, but not one I totally dislike.

Some damn ambitious plans to come- Very much looking forward to the reaver especially.

Thanks Brother. No where near Ramos Level but I do my best.

I believe the green missiles are Phosphor related. though I'll have to go check to make sure .

As for the Titan.. Still washing the parts. Problem is that I don't have the instructions so I'm trying to work my way through the pieces.

Ramos. Luckily you still have 6 months to get that ME marines in line with the current meta!

Justarein, Yeah I have a lot of old stuff. I started in the Rouge Trader days. Sadly some of those figure aren't even playable anymore due to how they are not legal by the current codex's.

Dr.. Never too late to get the Dr.s comments. In today's meta you have to take what works to be competitive. Not that I have to take all grav. i'm also working on expanding my other Heavy weapons load outs to be at least 4 of each available type. At this point I have ML and grav covered. Next up Hvy Boters and Plasma Cannons.

Next up for the Lamenters is an Interceptor. After that I'll be back into some Terrain building for my Local FLGS. Then as winter arrives I'll be working on the Titan and both the Alpha Legion for myself and the World Eaters for my friend! I have a whole slew of Marine themed Terrain inbound as well.
Still more to order... Dread drop pod, an additional Imperial knight.. More HH figures. The list goes on.....

I think you mean Ramos has 6 months to paint a Warlord Titan. Though sooner would be better.

I think I will have just Salamanders this go around. They work for 30k and 40k, and even Badab themed throw downs. Well, plus giant stompy robots.
