I'm sure many of you have heard about the new Plastic Baneblade kit premiering at Chicago Games Day (releasing in October for $95). But if Baneblades are now readily accessible to the general public, does that mean that an IG rewrite is around the corner, if not at the same time of the Baneblade release? Or perhaps the Baneblade boxed set includes rules for it?

Thoughts?

Catch me if you can.

Apocalypse is supposed to have the rules for it. There's no word on IG getting an updated Codex in the near future, and GW doesn't include rules with tank kits in the past, so I think that's very unlikely.

Well they havent included rules with kits since second, so not for a decade.

The only way you'll be able to include the Baneblade in a game is either use the current Forgeworld rules or else use the Apocalypse rules set.

As has been mentioned, the rules will be in Apocalypse. You could probably port them into friendly regular games, but obviously it might be a tad unbalancing in a general tournament setting.

Re: Codex Imperial Guard. It's already in line with the power level of DA, BA, Chaos, etc. I think it would be a very low priority (after Dark Eldar, redoing Marines, the unified Inquisition book, Space Wolves and Necrons).

And the new IG codex will proably be dumbed down as well these things take time.
There is however new ogryns and commissars coming out with apocalype.

There are more rumours running around for DE getting a rewrite than there are IG getting the treatment.

Thats one way to put it into perspective.

Well, i learned about Apocalypse for the first time at Chicago Games Day, so now I know.

And as for the Dark Eldar rewrite, I was at a seminar and asked them about it and they said that they are indeed going to rewrite Dark Eldar.

Catch me if you can.

Well, they'll rewrite the all the armies sooner or later. Just a matter of when.

Thank god for bad IG players .  If it weren't for them GW wouldn't be giving us cool things like baneblades.  Then again as for commisars and ogryns, updated commisars might be good, if there 15 points or something, and if ogryns can become what they were supposed to be in the first place, I think they may have a place in the IG list (although I doubt it).

You guy are being giddy as school girls and not using your heads...

First off the Bane Blade dose not belong to the Imperial Guard. Imperal Guard having Baneblades is  a myth created by Dawn of  War. It belongs to the Imperial Navy Adaptus Mechanicus.  A bane blade is a super heavy and as such requirs its own army comand structur so that 3 baneblade is one force. A baneblade by its self is fast a victom of hunter seekers and other strength 10 or ordinance weapons . A Baneblade is a lumbering Vehicle that can only move 6 inches streight ahead.. and  may only then pivot at the end of its move. Let me further point out that a baneblade moves 6 inches when moved and not up to 6 inches. Its the full six inches. this may harmfully run it into terain. Sorry but i dont think meltas get there dubble strength bonus against superheavys

The imperal guard codex was just rewritten as one of the first to be and is about as smart as any codex out there.   Almost everything in the Imperial Armor can only be used by special agrement of boath playes in the match. Strangly Demolishe and Vanquisher variants of the Imperial guards Lemun Russ tanks do not. But the vanquisher only appears in the Web based Games workshop armylist.. http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/gaming/ac_operations/default.htm By though not in a codex this army list was Grand Tounament legal seasons 2006 and 2007 and was the heart and soul of the special event Tanksgiving 2006 USA.

I personaly did not care for the Armorcast version of the Baneblad as it looked too trunciated.. but it was significantly smaller making it less vulneable to templat weapons.. I tried to build a plasticard version .. But my room mates stuff fell on it ans smashed my project at 75%. and for thoes that dont know out side of  britiness resin is soooo much better than plastic especialy when comes to repaint or reasembely.

@brother toltose
personally i think i was getting all excited and stuff as i was my information on the IG having baneblades from the very first paperback forgeworld imperial armour book and their piece in a citadel journal, something that was out waaaaay before the game dawn of war, i would love to know your source on them been owned etc by the adeptus mechanicus, as all the fluff ive ever seen had them been imperial guard vehicles.

also not sure on the rules your qouting regarding movement etc as i dont have my IA books with me at work but as we havent seen the new rules how can you comment on the effectiveness of them?

anyway i was sure they dont have to move the full 6inches in a turn regardless (though dont quote me on that) or that would make it as stupid as the steam roller moment in austin powers, i can just see it:
tank commander: MOVE OUT
driver: yes sir, all ahead!
banebalde sets off towards ruins 20 metres away (6in in game terms just a random figure)
crew suddenly see the terrain
driver: nooooooo we're going to hit that small clump of trees over there sir, noooooooooooo!!!
crew sit there screaming for 10minutes till they hit the foliage and explode!

im pretty sure even a baneblade would be able to either: 1 - stop or even god forbid 2 - go through the terrain uneffected!

as to your point on the russ varients, the demolisher isnt a FW model. its in the IG codex and is a standard model produced and availible in all GW stores.
the 2 FW "based" models rather then GW standard (though you can make your own) are the conqueror and the vanquisher. these are used in the imperial guard armoured company list and are not mention in the guard codex as this is a completely seperate list. so i dont understand what the complaint or point is regarding them as your little rant doenst seem to have any points to make in it?

also as a bit of an aside would it be possible for you to read your post through in future are the spelling mistakes etc make it very confusing in places.
thanks
millest

Trying to start an argument on the first post is ballsy. But I would differently do some research before throwing things out there like that.

@brother toltose

Yeah, where are you getting your sources from? The baneblade is and always has been an IG vehicle. the mechanicus controls the titan legions, the navy controls the navy, no ground forces. they were seperated after the great crusade to prevent one man from controllina ll aspects of the millitary.

and you are quoting the rules for IA, not apocolpse. It has been plainly stated that the rules for Apocolypse are different than IA. So pretty much, you have no idea how the vehicle will act in game.
