So the new baneblade has an upgrade set for nurgle that we've all seen.  But the posters that are out for Apocalypse suggest that other upgrades are available out of the box, and there are at least two barrels for the main turret gun.  Anyone have any idea what will be possible with the set?  The posters also mention a variety of baneblade chassis vehicles in the Apocalypse book, so maybe they are available in the set?  Not that I'm holding my breath.

The pic I saw of the nurgle baneblade - with the long droopy gun and vats of goo - was labeled conversion, and I believe it's just that. I've not seen pictures of any of these, but I heard that the baneblade is going to get upgrades to make it Chaos, Ork or stormsword (titan killer big gun).

Had not heard any options in the box, but cool if the stormsword option is in there. Remove turret, put in giant gun, blam.

- Salvage

EDIT:

"Plague Reaper," the confirmed conversion in question.  Warseer debunks it as a standard kit, but more showing that the baneblade can be chaosified ftw.

There are no nurgle upgrades in the box set for the picture above.  It is a conversion done by a staffer in the UK.  They indicated at Chicago GD that there will be instructions on the web on how to do several different types of conversions (some similar to this).

The short barreled one is the Stormblade.

Nah. Stormblades have a big plasma blastgun for the main weapon. I think. Let me try to remember...

Baneblade: the all-rounder
Shadowsword: Has a giant laser gun. A Titan-killer.
Stormhammer: More bolters than you can shake a stick at, and two double-barrelled turrets. Anti-infantry specialist.
Stormblade: Plasma Blastgun main armament. Used to have a bunch of missiles, too, but those were dropped.

There's at least one more, that Forge World has a kit for, but it's too new-fangled for me to consider. [/old, crotchety man]

The "short-barrelled one" is rumored to be Yarrick's personal Baneblade.  Ah, I still remember the batrep in White Dwarf.  Yarrick followed Ghazkull to the planet Golgotha, where some Squats lived.  Yarrick teamed up with the Squats (riding in his personal Baneblade, no less) but got captured by Ghazkull.  Good times...  good times...

Hellhammer???

Not too sure I've ever heard of that one...just had a look at both the old and current Epic rules, Imperial Armour, and the Forgeworld site, and can't find any mention of a "HellHammer"...

Baneblade, Shadowsword, Stormsword, Stormhammer and Stormblade I can find... sure you don't mean one of the above?

The Hellhammer was from Man 'O War. If I recall correctly, it was an Empire ship with an insanely huge cannon running from stern to bowsprit. It was totally impossible to load.

Stormshadow: Ninja in white.  Can defeat all other Baneblade variants with bare hands by jumping on top of them and karate chopping them all over.  This causes no apparent damage until he turns to walk away and the tank falls apart.

Well we know from the pictures taken at various events that there's at least one variant included- the Yarrik personal baneblade.  Other then that it's all been rumours.  I'm suspicious about the possibility of a shadowsword variant included with the kit because of the sheer amount of sprue space it'd take up and the fact that it's yet to be included in any rumour photos.

I rather doubt that there'll be a Shadowsword or any similar option in the initial release. I would expect that they'll release different superheavy tanks over the next few years, all based on the Baneblade hull.

I laughed so hard, snot cam out of my nose when i read that!

But no, i was at Games Day too, and the box only can only make a Baneblade or a Hellhammer, which is a city fighting variant with a shorter amin cannon barrel. It has the lascannons in a different place on the hull too.

The baneblade fires the massive new pie plate and its strength D, which means auto wounding and wuto pinning.

The Yarick variant is a conversion, they showed pictures of it. It looked pretty sweet though.

THey also showed pictures of an Orc baneblade that had a ginormous engine on it and Phill Kelly said it was a fast vehicle for Orcs, which is nuts! He didnt go into any other details about it other than it too was a conversion.

The baneblade is stunning in real life and is far and away better than the forgworld model in my eyes, no question.
