That's a fine looking fishman. Azazelx is right-- that would be a great addition to a Deep One warband.

Well, I did pledge for the Mythos expansion in Bones III. Plus, I have those Tiik that will hang out with them. Fun fact, the Dark Mariners actually have summoners who can summon Mythos type monsters in-game. One such monster and a summoner were both unlocked in the last Kickstarter. And yes, I pledged for that summoner, too.

I am now done with the Deepwars/Shadowsea half of my monthly pledge. The last of the five figures, Melandil Runeseer is now done.

Melandil is actually his name and he's another named character. This guy is a leader character and he's equipped with a control device for controlling Biomechs. Melandil is also one of the few non-mutated Dark Mariners in the line. There's two others, I believe. One is another commander riding a giant biomechanical octopus, the other is a female riding on what is essentially a Disk of Tzeench. This is what regular Dark Mariners are supposed to look like. Basically, they look like Asari.

He came out good. He was probably the main reason I haven't started more of my Mariners. I could never figure out what I wanted to do with him.

There actually are a few more named purebloods in the books, but models haven't been made of them yet. Did you get the queen on her flying disc? What about some of the crazy stuff like the ethereal crab from the last campaign?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

No, it's actually the Cephalids and characters that I'm missing. I currently only have one other Cephalid, and that's the Biomancer.

I've hit another monthly goal! I completed one of my Gecko TAGs.

This guy's been sitting on my table ever since I first posted pics of him months ago. I'd started and stripped it several times and just had serious painter's block with it. It's finally finished though and I can move onto the other one.

The freehand was very basic, but I'm happy with my results.

I also painted up the Modern Adventurer, Levon from Hasslefree Miniatures. Hasslefree was my Brexit order. I got him and a few of their modern troopers. The nice thing about Levon is that I can use him in apocalyptic games and I can use him as an Emergency Services 112 in Infinity!

Nice gecko gecko! And the firefighter really works too!

Yeah, Levon looks great there!

I need to do a Hasslefree order sometime soon. It just keeps getting put off for other things.

Okay, another challenge figure complete! That leaves just one figure left for my monthly challenge, and that's going to be the other Gecko.

What did I complete? A PanO Nisses. The old combi-rifle version. He's got a neat, very deynamic pose, but because of the way he's assembled, he was kind of tricky to paint.

So, it looks like I'll be focusing the rest of the week on painting the Gecko.

Very nice! I've got to figure out how to get inspired go do more than on gecko.

The July challenge is now complete! I've finished the final pledged figure, the second Gecko!

and I tried to freehand a cartoony, angry shark on one shoulder.

You may notice this Gecko is rather shiny. Well, I bought a brand new can of dullcoat today to do the final seal on this figure. I spray it and guess what, it wound up giving him a gloss coat. I don't know what the hell happened, because the label on the can clearly says dullcoat. It kind of pisses me off. This particular model gave me some issues, as well. Hell, the box in general gave me issues. First, the box was mispacked to hell and back with tons of the little bits, like the heels, but not enough parts to actually complete a single figure. Then, once I got the replacements, I noticed that one of the legs on this Gecko didn't fit right, so it's attached very poorly with a big gap. Then I tried making a base quite a few times. The stupid Greenstuff kept sticking to the basing pad rather than the base itself and this base was the best one I managed. It doesn't look very good. Then there's the mishap with the dull coat. Ugh. I'm just glad they're done. I'm going to have to take the dullcoat back to the hobby shop tomorrow.

Anyway, here's the completed July challenge.

To make matters worse, last night someone knocked the dual wielding Gecko off the table he was on, snapped his right arm off. That was thankfully an easy fix and there wasn't any scratching done to the paint. The Azra'il didn't fare so well though. Someone managed to knock him off the table as well and then stepped on him, busting off both arms, scratching a ton of paint, and bending his left ankle, snapping it off. I spent a good chunk of last night repairing him. Thankfully, you can't even tell. That pic is post-repair.

Next month, I haven't decided just yet on what I want to do. I'm leaning towards two Infinity boxes for my challenge. Likely to be the Squalo and an Antipode Assault Pack.

Yikes about the busted figures.

My kids didn't do it, did they? I would hope by now they're used to tiny little things they need to be careful around.

I think your August challenge should be to finish some of those start collecting boxes you got recently (as I eye the half dozen I've bought as well...).

I think it was actually our grandparents.

I only have one Star Collecting box, but I'm planning on working on that anyway. The Taurox is one of my planned upcoming side projects.

The TAGS look about Dogface sized. Pretty much like the ESWATs from Appleseed looking at them.

I can't speak for the current Dog Soldiers as I only have the old three-toed one and have yet to build my Devil Dog. The Geckos are definitely bigger than the old Dog Soldier though. I'm curious how my Azra'il and eventual Ahl Fassed will compare in size to the Geckos as they're all essential super heavy infantry.

Did anyone here see or back the RBJ Games Kickstarter, S.T.A.R. Troopers? This Kickstarter went great. It hit pretty much all of its goals and got a fair number of freebies. The Kickstarter was listed as fulfilling in October, but it's actually almost done. I got my pledge last week, and I have to say, the quality is supberb! There are almost no mold lines and very little in the way of cleanup was needed. This is one of the Kickstarters that I've been eagerly awaiting and I was not disappointed. The figures have a great, almost industrial look to their gear, which really got me wanting to paint them to match up with my Brokkrs. So, tonight I went and painted up a test figure. What do you think?

I'd like to think that they're a bunch of space miners who've scavenged up some weapons, sort of like the original Red Faction game. I'd even suggested during the Kickstarter doing up some figures with mining gear as improvised weapons, like pickaxes or shovels and having one with a mining laser. The creators said that they liked my idea and they really must've, because one of the paid add-on figures is equipped with a heavy laser very similar to what I described for a mining laser. Naturally, I had to get that one. Since I'm pleased with how my scheme turned out, I'll probably do the heavy laser figure next.

Had the same issue with the gaps on the Mk12 Gecko. Seems to be a common problem. They look good though, liking the pacman and shark details

Shame about the azra'il but like you said, you can't really tell after the repairs so nice job there.

I'm liking the colours on that last fig. Vibrant yellow and the candy stripes are a nice touch.

Glad you guys like the STAR Trooper as well. He was fun and quick to paint. I'm house sitting (again), so my hobby time is pretty limited at the moment, but I am going to try and whip up another STAR Trooper this weekend. I was also paid for my house sitting with Forgeworld models, so I'm going to try and start working on some of those figures.

Well, I wasn't able to get to the STAR Troopers like I wanted. In fact, I wasn't able to get nearly as much hobby time in as I was hoping to. However, August is off to a good start, it's still the first day of the month and I've already completed my first figure for this month's challenge!

Alright, first, ignore the flower-patterned couch in the back. Second, obviously not the best pic, but that's what my camera produced. This slightly blurry pic is going to have to do for now though until I can get back home and take a better pic. It's really hard to tell, but I painted him in the Stygies black/dark grey and red colors. Hopefully when I take some better pics tomorrow you'll actually be able to see the colors better. Really, I took this so I could have some photographic proof that I've already completed one of my challenge figures. Two more of these guys to go, then on to the Antipodes!

I've got some better pics of the Thallax now.

One of the profile shots is a bit blurry, but overall better than the pic I took yesterday. The next Thallax (Melta) is now being cleaned along with a Dark Mariner Bio Mecha and two of Anvil Industry's new Regiments figures. Figured I'd do a couple on the side while I'm working on other stuff.

Having seen it in person, I'll say it was quite impressive.

Like I said to you, it seemed completely appropriate to have the gloss on the faceplate area. Looks cool.

I'm more interested when you're starting the big stuff!

Which Dark Mariners Bio Mecha are you making- the flamethrower one, the crab claw guy, or the much larger one with tentacles coming out of every joint?

It's the bigger gold one with the tentacles everywhere. I'm undecided if I want it to be gold like the fluff says or make it green like the rest of the Dark Mariners.

When I get to my Domitar will depend on how fast I can get through everything else. I suspect that the Antipodes might take the longest. So far I'm moving at a good pace though, so who knows.

I got four new figures completed last night, but I was only just now able to take pictures of them. Some of you may recall, way back when I was able to take pictures using my Deadzone scenery, I had some modern troopers done up as stand-ins for the Haqqislam allied Nomads. I'd intended to do more of them for a long time, but the currency exchange just didn't make it worthwhile to order from the UK. Once Brexit hit and the pound faltered, I was finally able to make that order and expand their ranks. I ordered four, but right now only three are done. The fourth guy will come, eventually. If I'm quick with this month's challenges, I may even get him done this month!

So, here's my newest Al-Waziri.

Obviously, two of those loadouts are not actually usable in Infinity. I don't really care though. They'll probably get used in other games instead. I just liked the idea of having a bunch of Nomad mercs in more Haqq appropriate fatigues.

Here's all of them together.

Despite the shotty and the smg, I actually do have enough to run a full Nomad team in a Qapu Khalki army list with TAG support.

I said I had four figures completed though. The fourth figure is unrelated. He's one of Brother Vinni's Nuclear Sandlot figures. I'd actually been wanting some Fallout figures, so I wound up buying him just for fun. He may or may not ever see actual in-game use.

They look pretty modern considering they're supposed to be proxy Infinity figures.

I'm guessing Hassle Free?

They look good. Would make a good zombie clearing team.

They aren't meant to be Infinity proxies, that's just how I want to use them. But yeah, they're Hasslefree. I totally want to use them as an anti-zombie team, too.

Nice stuff, they look good to me. Who doesn't want an anti zombie group. I think I'll be using my USARF guys for that.
