At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Awesome !!! Now if only the librarian can cast those again (with full Apoc effects). I hope the Vortex stays on the table and wonders around for a few turns. Now if only they bring back Virus outbreak.

WTF? Need details on this STAT. This might be enough to make me take a brief break from Warmachine to play a game or two of 40k. Oh, glorious random destruction.

In the old games, Vortex weapons were like blast weapon, except very powerful against infantry, and they tended to stay on the battlefield, scattering around, blocking LOS, and growing and shrinking. Vehicles were usually too big to be destroyed; they just got tossed around a bit.

Very powerful against infantry is a bit of an understatement. If it touched you, it killed you. No save, no roll, dead. As far as I can recall vehicles touched were just as dead (as were buildings) and not thrown around. In 2nd the only too things that could survive a vortex were an assassin and Ghazkhull. It could grow, move around randomly and was overall great fun. And it was 50pts

And 50 points didn't go as far in second edition. We've experienced serious deflation since then.

Vehicles were usually too big to be destroyed; they just got tossed around a bit. My apologies. In my anticipation, I did not put my comments in context. I know what they are. I played 40k for 20 yrs before GW annoyed me once too many. VGs were great fun. Does anyone have any actual details on the rules to go with this new attempt to wring cash from GW players? I might be persuaded to dust off the GW minis for the chance to toss a few of these around the table for nostalgia's sake if the rules aren't completely lame. If not, well, Warmachine is still getting my cash now anyway.

the vortex grenade is taken as a stratagem in games of apocolypse.
it has 6" range
about the size of a pie plate
it kills anything it touches apart from super heavies, which it does D3 struture points to
any terrain it touches leaves the board.
each player turn (so twice a game turn) it pops up randomly onto another part of the table.
it does not grow in size anymore.
Necron lord with veil, vortex grenade and warsythe will put the whup ass on any superheavy in the game.
