All this talk about the imminent  arrival  of  Apocalypse  led me  to  the  GW UK  website.

I thought that the craters were a little pricey?
Perhaps they  have real  moon rocks  in them....?

But on a more serious note, there are some very stark differences in price between the same producs in the US and UK. The Cities of Death Resin barricades are a good example. They're £20 in the UK, $20 in the US. How does that work?

Different countries mean different price points often.  Just look at how expensive stuff in Canada is, even when it is manufactured in Canada.  A current GW example is their BL books.  They are £6 but $6-7 US.

@Shoon - Looks like plastic to me (and I think that's what Phil Kelly said at GDLA).  Apparently you get quite a bit in the box too.  I'll be picking up 2-3 as they not only do a good job with moon craters but they'll look good on my cityfight board too.

Yes, but you need to consider the country as a whole... Err, sorry, thought you were writing about something else.

Still, doesn't feel right when you get the short end of the stick.

I with H.B.M.C. I love the GW terrain. And these look amazing and versitile. I'll be purchasing several for experimentation...

Resin, plastic, plaster?

It bears mentioning that 'resin' is another word for plastic. The sprues we get in the box sets are a thermoplastic called styrene. Just heat it up, squirt it into a metal mould and mark it up. Lead figs had to be cast in finicky rubber moulds with a limited lifespan, and the FW-type urethane 'resin' is cast in the same sort of rubber moulds, even though it's a cold process. But, it's an inherently more expensive process in that so much of it is still 'labour-intensive' and as mould deterioation leads to higher maintenance costs. Styrene models spew out of the Foundry, virtually automatically, by the thousands. Resin model production runs are still, for the most part, hand-made. The resin material itself is not, as one might suspect, a platinum alloy . . . Playa

It's simple supply and demand. There's less demand for the books in the US because most Americans can't read good.

I think that someone at GDUB decided to take the real moon rock out of the craters....
They are only 12 pounds now?.... Bet those who pre-ordered them at 9999 pounds are spewing now?

I am trying to hide my disappointment.
Real moon rock terrain would have been so cool.

Oh well, guess we will have to settle for boring plastic?

I am in the middle of making my own with some foam and spakfilla.
But, as always, to make terrain look good, you have to spend exorbitant amounts of  time on it.

Perhaps I have re-invented the wheel after all? (he says as he looks to see if there is an Australian supplier of Amera product....)

Although, I think you do get four craters for 12 pounds....so the price is not that different, yes?

Osbad, you get that one for £2.50 or you can get 5 from GW for £12. To buy 5 of those would be £12.50 so you actually get a savings from GW.
