There's this little thing called the "boreal forest" that actually covers quite a large section of the planet earth's surface... you should look into it next time you're up for some terrain building.

Thanks Solar! I'm fully aware of the Grey problem.

Gits, when you mentioned it before I started reviewing images and studying the varieties of foliage. Lots of great pictures out there for sure. I have an interesting idea for some terrain though that will count as forest. I have been thinking about the best way to do it. I will share more when I am next on my computer. I want to show you guys some reference pictures.

I do really appreciate the ideas and suggestions as always but I think I want to go for some forests that look a bit more magical.

Stay tuned

These are some interesting plant creatures from the game of magic in the city covered plane of Ravnica. There are lots of cards that use them. Google Ravnica Saprolings and check them out if you want other examples. I really like the idea of these plants being magically manipulated, so to speak, by these crystals. I want to take this idea and put them on my ice board. I want to create these twisting "trees" and have them holding or attached to crystals of some kind. Moonpie and I have been brain storming. I am thinking wire frame, papier maché, foam crystal shapes on removable bases so we have some nice gaming trees.

That is the plan. We shall see how that turns out. Kind of excited.

Progress!

I have primed all of the sylvaneth models I own along with all of the chaos models that I own. While staring at the trees debating on where to start, I grabbed the free khorne slaughterpriest and began painting him. Not sure why, but I did.

I am still unsure how I want to do the hack blade and skin but I got a nice little start on him. I really like the model, especially because he was free. He is the only khorne model I have actually but he has fun rules. I am sure he will see some use. Sitting to my left right now is a box of High Elves that I finished basing the other day. I am thinking about priming them this weekend. Assuming the weather cooperates.

Any ways, have a great weekend everybody. Let me know what think about my white armored khorne guy. CC always appreciated.

Thanks Cam. It is a sweet model. I am not sure how they justify charging $30 for it by itself, but it is a great pose. Go by the white dwarf and get him for free. He is worth that price, lol.

Thanks guys. I am a bit stalled at the moment, unsure of where to go next. Moonpie has suggested blood splatter. I'm not totally sold on that idea yet.

Now I understand the look you gave me when I found my Blood for the Blood God and said, "You were looking for this right?"

Apparently, this was my idea.

I returned from Adepticon with a small collection of new things and a burning desire to build and paint. During Adepticon I did not play any official events. Instead I decided to just hang out with friends, check out the scene, demo things, and in general take care of all of my friends as they did their thing. Primarily Ramos, because he is a big baby. That being said, Ramos did have the best food suggestion of the weekend. We went to Misoya (sp?) and had AMAZING ramen. Truly, it was amazing.

At any rate, I picked up guild ball after running the demo. I got a dark elf Kahrybdis, that I have wanted ever since the model was released. It has already been clipped, cleaned, and built. I also picked up Rune Wars. THANK YOU SOLAR! I have been reading the rules. I think they have a great game on their hands. I can see this game doing well. It is xwing and armada rules using a fantasy setting. I do find it very interesting that they made the figures easy to put together without glue yet they didn't paint them.

Any ways, during Adepticon Moonpie and I played 5 rounds of Silver Tower, with various people. Thank you to everyone who played. I think we may be playing another round today. That is my hope. It was nice to see everyone enjoy the game despite some preconceived notions. We may have turned a couple Wardens to the game. Next year Moonpie has promised to have every model painted. (yes i put that in writing)

Thanks again to everyone who went. It was great to see everyone and recharge the war gaming batteries. It was also a fantastic con with lots of great vendors and tournament organizers. Everyone we spoke to, even the randoms in the elevators, were great.

Hey Ice. Nice to see you back, sounds like you had a blast at Adepticon.

Let's hope that desire to paint yields some awesome progress!

Thanks man. I am planning on doing some rearranging to a desk to have a more permanent set up. Question for you guys, what kind of light do you paint under? One of my issues is the small desk light I have. I may want to look for a replacement.

Right now I'm using two photographic lights on stands. Same ones I use for my photo booth, I just move the stands back and fourth.

You dun good takin' care of me Seriously, man, I super appreciated you running and getting food and meds!!

Really happy you guys liked Misoya. Honestly Im glad it turned out as well as it did- I had no idea what to expect!!! xD And now we definitely know- Takoyaki and CORN CROQUETTES!!!

Silver tower was remarkably fun- Been considering picking up a copy, myself! (though noone to plaaaay with around here D: ) Tell moonpie that now I'm EXPECTING to play with beautifully painted minis next year!! ( <3 Wight King!!)

As far as lights, I have a pair of large fluorescents that light the room, then a desk lamp with a daylight bulb in it. Gets me pretty nice clean white light all around. I use a similar setup with my photos

After doing some priming, on this beautiful day, i broke out more foam to make a fallen spire. This piece of terrain has been in the making for years. I hope you like it.

WOW. I had an awesome game of age of sigmar today. We used all sorts of new terrain. I took a picture but it doesn't look that great. The table is black, the models are all primed black. Most of the terrain is bare. It was not an attractive game but it was a blast to play. We created a scenario. We called it "The meeting of minds" We took four different heroes, each from a different subfaction of the Order. Spirit of Durthu, High Elf Wizard, Doomseeker, and a Dark Elf Dockmaster guy. They started next to one another in the center of the battlefield. We then took every chaos model I own and put them on the field 18 inches away. In a turn one of the heroes killed an enemy model, he got to roll a d6 to see if he would summon more troops. On a roll of a 6 a unit would be summoned onto the battlefield.

I would win if I killed the four commanders. He would win if all of the chaos guys were killed.

The game was a blast. It started out very poorly for me. He killed some rats and summoned the Kharybdis right of the bat. My guys got into combat with the dwarf and the fleetmaster dark elf guy. The spirit of durthu got tied up with various things. The Kharybdis ate an entire unit of clan rats in one turn. Things were not looking good. Then, my dice rolling became awesome. My clan rats killed the dwarf. My warpthrower melted the dockmaster. My skaven warlord killed the high elf wizard in one turn of combat. I then got SUPER lucky with another round of firing and my warlord killed Durthu. When the last turn was over, all that remained on the board in the name of chaos was a warpthrower, a mortar, and my warlord. In the next round I lost all three and I was board wiped.

The game was awesome and really bloody. It was also really quick. It took under 2 hours to play the whole thing.

Not where I should be

I know many of us are purists, and AoS got a bad press to start, but more and more people say it is a great game, you certainly sound like you enjoyed it even though you did not win. Sort out those pictures bud, to quote the great and the good, "Pics or it did not happen!"

Loving the work we have seen, dwarf is stunning. Love the look of the grave yard.

This is probably the best picture. You can see one of my blocks of skaven.

Age of Sigmar has turned out to be fast and violent. I think my biggest draw is that the rules are simple and straight forward. I don't spend 50% off the battle confirming rules.
