I don't know, I think of samurai/Asian swordsmen as having the long pony tails. That just might be some of the movies I've seen though.

Sicaran is top-notch ! The angle of the weathering gives an impression of high-speed battles, that's great !

And the colours turned out nicely...

Yep, really nice job on the Sicaran dude! I think it work so well due to the more natural greens and yellows you used rather than a brighter green. the sand pigment is again the right look for the tank although I do agree with Gits about adding some to the rear of the tank? in my mind eye I see it roaring across the sand sending plumes of sand like a jetski behind it as it tracks it's targets it's weight sinking it into the soft ground only to be churned and ripped from under it's tracks as it lurches forward to annihilate the foes...... jus' sayin' :-)

Not much of an update this weekend, I was kind of crashed out Saturday after working Thursday night. It always hits me a day later. I did get some paint down on the first unit of Archers today , not as much as I would have liked but its progress none the less.

I'm actually getting quite excited about trying Kings of War, I'm hoping to have just under 500 points worth of Wood Elves and Undead painted by October when I next have some time off to get a game in.

I also managed to get another old school treeman off ebay the other day so my unit is now complete

Sadly thats it for this week, I'm starting to build a bit of a back log up of minis to paint which I'm trying not to think about. There's so many more minis I want, I'm working on the fact that its better to get them while I can before anything happens and they stop being made

I'm planning projects now to keep me interested in painting as I'm no longer going to events. The place I was going to looks like its going to be moving to a new location I cant get too because they decide to rent the room out permanently on weekends to Weight Watchers without telling the guys who run the events

So the current project is Kings of War 450ish points of Wood Elves and Undead to get me into the game/learn the rules.
Then its back to Mantis Warriors for a Tactical squad so I can play them.
I think its going to Malifaux after that depends if I've picked up the starter by then or not.
Then I expect it will be Wood Elves and Undead again.

I have to say - those bases of models look awful to me, but they look fantastic when they're painted/finished/completed. Those wardancers really sold me on the finished product.

Very keen to see how these guys end up.

Cool job on the Sicaran mate!
Looks all good, don't worry about weathering, i'd actually say it could have taken more on the side skirts and still don't detract from the green - in the end, it's a lot )

What sealer have you used? I've been using MIG and Forgeworld pigments, and they seem to darken after i spray matt varnish (either Testors or Humbrol)

Keep it up man!

Thanks ciuncky welcome to my blog. I use Vallejo pigments and their pigment fixer to seal it, applied with a brush.

Todays update and the Wood Elf Archers are finished.

They really didn't come together until the basing was finished but I'm really happy with them now.

Next up is either the next Archer unit or something for the monthly Dakka painting comp.

The basing works so well and looks fantastic. How did you do the tree stump and mushroom? On a side note the tree stump indicating a tree being cut down is probably why the elves are so angry.....

I was a little suspect about the small model count on the bases. But for the wood elves I think it works really well. May be different for a goblin horde.....

Thanks Archer, the tree stump is from a Kromlech basing set. Its funny you mention the tree stump being cut down making the elves angry, wait to you see the unit after the archers are done

I'm doing small model counts all the way if the models are positioned correctly and the basing is interesting enough I believe it will work for all the armies I have planned, including Goblins.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I picked up the rules for Frostgrave, they were so cheap there was no reason to say say no. Expect some Wizard warbands and lots of creatures at some point, its not like I have enough projects all ready

Bit of a poor weekend on the painting front I'm afraid.

I finished my entry for the monthly Dakka painting comp

I do like him, did a bit of a nerdfest09 on the armour

That was Saturday also finished the basic green and flesh tones on the elf archers.

I then worked Saturday night and didn't finish until 04:30 this morning, I didn't wake up until lunch time today and couldn't face painting

I assembled two Darklands guys and started on a Plastcraft tomb type building for Frostgrave which is a bit pants to be honest, I'll show it when I'm finished if I get that far with it

Oh I also got my copy of the new Kings of War rules through on Friday which was quite exciting the book is really nice, I went for the hard back version. They have used a lot of pics they used in the first book and the supplements which was a bit disappointing, but on the whole it looks nice. I haven't started reading it yet though, I'll do that when I get closer to finishing enough minis to play.

Another day and something finished

Today we have the second unit of Wood Elf archers for Kings of War, to be honest I only had to go round the side of the base in black but this will probably be it for the weekend.

Pictures are a bit dark as there's no sunshine in the UK today

Thats the initial Wood Elf army stage one completed.

Next up on the painting table will be the Undead hordes to fight them.

Thanks Theo, I have ideas for lots of armies.

The funny thing is when I first got back into painting back in 2011 I wanted to paint fantasy miniatures, the first one is still half painted on my painting table. This is the sort of thing I wanted to do so I'm really happy people like the way its going so far.

Nice work on all the wood elves. Look good on the large bases.

Just out of curiosity, how does casualties work in-game, if the space the unit takes up can't change as they loose members, does that matter?

In Kings of War units have a number of wounds you dont actually remove any models, the base size of the unit never changes.
