Thanks guys I'm really looking forward to painting the Gorgorars.

They are all built now, they need some GS before they are undercoated as there's a few parts that didn't go together without a slight gap.

I've also started on the Mantis Warriors reinforcements, the Sicaran is currently looking like something out of Batman

We also have an Inquisitor to keep an eye on the Mantis Warriors as we know they can't be trusted

She's made by Kromlech and is really nice, she does have a cloak but I'm going to leave it off as she has loads of lovely details on her back....ah I didn't go there this time

More assembly will continue tomorrow

Sure Archer, well I say sure I took a photo of her behind but must have forgotten to take it off the camera. I'll ask her to do a twirl for you later

-----------------------------------------------------

The last few days have been a bit eventful. I got stressed with the Sicaran there was mold slip on the central piece which I hadn't really noticed until I glued the last side on. There's a big gap on the left side in the below pic which also kicked the back end out. It's strange as the other Sicaran I bought at the same time was perfect.

You may also notice that some parts have an oily sheen to them, I'm really hoping its not a bad case of embedded release agent. I did bathe her so its not surface oil.

So yeah I got feed up after that and decided to do some painting and got most of this guy finished on Tuesday and then finished up the last bits yesterday. Had to take one of my dogs to the vets for an op so didnt get much else done yesterday as he was well out of it when we got him home. He's fine now though

Here's my Cygnar Ironclad Warjack, the last model of the starter set.

Back to today and I GS'd up my Gorgonar girls and then battled on with the Sicaran with GS in hand. One of the gun barrels is bent but you cant really notice it if the turret is off centre

Which leads up to tomorrow which I plan on undercoating everything you've seen in the last few days. If the spray doesn't take on the Sicaran then I'll be contacting FW for a new one.

This is the guys who's on my painting desk next , I can't remember his name at the moment he's a Cryx model for Warmachine, I'll be changing him to be my model for the monthly painting comp I think.

This is my painting list for the next few weeks.

Warmachine model above.
Man O War Death Fortress - This is for another painting comp
Skeleton Cavalry
Ghouls
Mantis Warriors Sicaran
Mantis Warriors Inquisitor
Mantis Warrior Combat squad - this may slip as I was going to give them a Plasma gun but I may go for something extreme like a Volkite weapon.
Darklands - I cant wait to start painting these.

Oh and speaking of Darklands they have an awesome kickstarter running at the moment, if you like fantasy then check out the below they use the best sculptors in the business.

Tease, really nice model actually. Would be a real shame to put a cloak on her. Maybe you could magnetise it for dramatic effect?

The war jack looks great. Pity the Sicaran is being such a pain. The vagaries of urethane moulding into silicone. But for the price you would hope....

Another update today everything is undercoated as planned and is currently sitting in the window drying

I've done some painting as well, today I started and finished the Skarlock Thrall for Warmachine.

Really happy with his skin tone, nice and creepy.

Next on my list is the Death Fortress but I can't show him in this forum until he's gone up for voting on the forum that has the painting comp at the end of the month. So next update will be the Skeleton Cavalry but there's no chance they will be finished this weekend.

Cheers Salvage, they will be seeing paint a bit later on as I need to pick up Thelliatiss to lead them and I also for some weird reason want to add Sathach on Horse (when she's sculpted) as well, they also have Khallas the big Hydra, well they will when he's posted.

This is my painting order for Darklands which will be mixed in with other projects.

Ysians
Fomoraic
Brythoniaid
Khthones
Erainn

I'll also need to add Jutes and Anglecynn and anything else I pick up in the current Kickstarter, my unpainted mini pile is getting out of control

So today I painted the mini I cant show you until the end of the month

But I did re-visit Alfred the Great from Saga who I painted a long time ago.

I touched up his skin tones and cloak with an extra highlight, just wanted him to know I still appreciate him

No idea why I did it as I never picked up any more models, maybe one day.

Sorry folks all my enthusiasm for painting has been sucked out of my body by my work situation at the moment

I've found that playing Magic The Gathering Online is more of a distraction and is keeping me in the right head place at the moment, sadly that's not getting my models painted which there are rather a lot of that require my attention.

I did roll some dice around last weekend and played some Warmachine, just finished writing a small batrep which you can find here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/597003.page#6869106.

I'm sure I'll be back soon I just need a spark which the hordes of undead on my painting table aren't giving me at the moment.

Thanks guys I wont be gone for long, I have a huge desire to continue painting, I just need to keep myself sane in the process. I paint in a room by myself which is the only thing stopping me continuing at the moment as time alone makes your mind wander which is bad

I just need the right project to put all my thoughts and concentration into and I should be ok, Skeletons aren't doing it at the moment for me. I could skip them and move onto the next project in my list which is the Mantis Warrior reinforcements. I like the idea of doing some Space Marines, will see what happens this weekend.

If not it's more digital crack for me

I also run a monthly painting group on another forum where we show what minis we've painted each month, so I really need to get my ass in gear next month as I can't have nothing to show. I may get my end date next month as well and then everything will be fine and I can plan ahead for the future, it's the not knowing which is eating away at me.

Thanks for reading though it helps to have somewhere to talk. You all have exciting projects which I'm following so keep up the excellent work

Well I managed to get myself painting in less than a month, still no idea whats going on in real life but I got bored of being stressed so went back to what I like doing.....

I finished up a mini for a painting comp on another site should be able to show that in the next few days and yesterday I painted a whole mini in a day

From the Freebooters Fate game I give you Gunpowder Mary and her cannon, really happy with how she came out.

Picture aren't the best as its been dull and miserable all day.

She can actually use the cannon once per game, I don't have the rules yet but it's something I'll be checking out next year. I've just been picking up the limited edition minis for the last few years.

I'm also on the gate about picking up some Batman minis to add too my very long list.

Here's the two crews I worked out no idea how they would play, thoughts welcome.

League of Shadows
Talia Al Ghul (comics)
Lady Shiva
Agent 1
Agent 2
Agent 3
Killer Frost

Funding $: 500

Scarecrow

Nice work, interesting mini compared to what usually gets posted! Glad you got some painting inspiration back!

As for the Batman stuff, the Scarecrow crew is great for two reasons; in an of itself, you've got a capable crew there (almost all the funding is used, nice mix of bruisers, support and helper models) and Deathstroke basically means you can pick up any other crew set and have a 'full' crew, since all the bad guys can take him and the starters tend to clock in at around 150 Rep, so adding DS gives you 300-ish. Not a bad sculpt in the bunch either.

For the League, assuming you intend to have these crews face off, I think you might be better with the set that has Ra's and the 3 ninjas unless you're dead set on starting with Shiva. Partly because I personally think the ninjas in that set are better than the ones with Shiva (the Shiva Ninjas have mostly average stats, while the Ra's ninjas will handily cut up most enemy henchmen in close combat and one has Shuriken to throw too, giving you some handy range) and also because no one in your proposed list can really match up to Deathstroke, whereas Ra's most certainly can. The game is balanced well enough that you don't need a heavy hitter, but personally if you're facing the likes of Bane, Deathstroke and of course Batman it's handy to have a powerhouse of your own.

Of course, the other thing you could do for roughly the same price as your proposed list would be buying the Ra's and Shiva sets; that gives you plenty of options as far as building individual lists goes, and means you've got all the henchmen you'd need so you can then focus on filling out with Sidekicks and Free Agents.

Admittedly I'm biased as I prefer Ra's as a character, but in terms of play style, it breaks down like this: With Ra's's set you get more expensive guys but they are absolutely lethal, with Shiva you get cheaper models that mean you can spend more on other characters or bring in some more henchmen.

Thanks for the run down Para and yes they would be facing off against each other.

I went with Shiva's set purely because they looked nice and gave me an all female force for my starter force. I was put off the Ra's with the Ninjas due to his big head syndrome, I do like the ninja's in the box though and the other Ra's.

More planning is required, thanks.

To clarify, there's nothing wrong with the Shiva set or that list you propose, the game is balanced to the point where your list, so long as you cover the bases and don't leave any obvious gaps, doesn't determine your chances of winning or losing. I tend to recommend Ra's simply as, to me, his box fits the style of the League better as the models are more elite and dangerous, but if you prefer Shiva then you're not missing out by going that route, it's just a slightly different approach (and if you do go that route I would suggest trying to fit in Nyssa instead of Talia, just so you have some range potential). The Ra's set is probably worth getting at some point just to get the other ninjas (because yeah, the Ra's model is nice but the scale is completely off), or you could just pick up the other version of Ra's which is a lovely model.

I totally blame you and Graven for this, been playing on the hero builder site with Ra's as my leader and ended up with a totally different force.

Dallas is certainly a great asset (especially when run with a Bane crew instead, as he can then take Night Vision Goggles, so anything he can draw LoS to is fair game for his Assault Rifle!) You would need 3 starters for that, but at the same time, you would have a full and then some League list and the start of a Bane crew (and from experience, Origins Deathstroke works very nicely with the contents of the Bane starter)
